Thank you so much, Deb. I got my email tonight and haven't been able to break away from reading them. :surfweb: I think I am at about 170ish on the first set! Wow, so much info! :scared1: Thanks again! :worship:

I found this on Wikipedia but don't know if they're accurate or not. Maybe someone's seen them? They're Hidden Mickeys on Splash Mountain:

* A red classic Hidden Mickey is painted on a yoke that hangs on a left wall of the entrance queue, in the first tunnel part of the queue that has lights on the walls.

* Halfway up the second lift hill, on the right side, three barrels in the lower right corner of a stack of barrels form a classic Mickey.

* At the very beginning of the ride, just before the U-turn to the first drop, riders pass by an upright barrel with "Muskrat Moonshine" painted on the side. The words face riders and the barrel is only about 2 to 3 feet away from the right seat in the logs, giving the viewer a great opportunity to see the Hidden Mickey. Its located above the "s" in Muskrat. It is made by the absence of the paint that covers the barrel.

* Look for a picnic basket up on a small ledge. Riders can spot it just past Brer Frog, who is sitting on an alligator and fishing with his toe. Near the basket are three red-and-white-striped fishing bobbers in the shape of a classic Hidden Mickey.

* On the right side of the logs, in the room with the jumping water, a classic rope Mickey is hanging halfway down from the ceiling. It can be found in the shadows behind a lantern and just past the turtle lying on a geyser.

* The hole in the mountain at the top of the big drop is sculpted to form a side profile of Mickey's face. As riders approach the big drop in your boat, Mickey's nose juts out from the left side of the hole. This is also visible from the walkway over the bottom of the big drop.

* One of the clouds in the final scene of the ride is in the shape of a Mickey.

* A birdhouse with a rope ladder in the entrance queue (also visible at the exit) has a classic Mickey acorn formation above a door and below blue roof slats. It is located just past the photo viewing area at the exit. Another classic Mickey made of acorns is near the peanut shell chimney, above the curve of the red rail.

* Next to Splash Mountain's exit, there is a little play area. Inside the log in the play area there is an inverted Hidden Mickey.

I found the rope one on my own and was very proud! Jumped right back on the get the shot! Asked a CM and he confirmed it, as I had only caught a glimpse. But he also said there were only 3 on the ride??? I like your list much better and will be keeping an eye out for them next time.n I have always thought there HAD to be something in the clouds or leaves at the end.

Oh My! I have just spent the last 7 days reading the entire thread (parts 1 and 2) all 281 pages! I feel as though I have travelled through time from 2003 to present day!

Thank you to the person who began this amazing thread. :thumbsup2

Boo to those of you who have hi-jacked it and clogged it with page after page after page of requests for lists you are too lazy and unadventurous enough to compile yourself and thus the subsequent necessity to respond to those requests even after you were asked time and again not to!... now enough venting!:surfweb:

What I did not see mentioned...

* just recently a feature as released on Disney Blogs two days ago - "In-Room Celebrations" have gone one step further. Have yourself or significant girlie declared a Princess! princess: For a fee of $485 (yes, that's what I said!) while you are out enjoying the parks, some magic can be sent to your room in the form of, among other stuff, a sash on the door, wand, rose petals, certificate, and of course the crowning Tiara! There are three different age appropriate packages, each differing slightly.
Of course this price tag is not for every one and so other smaller versions are also available for a more reasonable $30 or there abouts. A great little surprise to return "home" to after a big day! (check out disney floral gifts )

* Now, in most of the earlier posts, before it got majorly OT, a lot of people mentioned that certain CM's seemingly went the extra mile and really made a special moment become a truly magical one. Here is one suggestion from a former CM turned author of "The Ultimate Disney World Savings Guide 2010" (a book that is online and therefore ALWAYS up to date!)

quote "Here's a neat little tip guaranteed to put a smile on your children's faces AND the faces of Disney World Cast Members (employees). Before your trip print out free Cast Member appreciation cards. (Google for free down loads)

When a Cast Member does something nice for your family, have your kids walk up and give him or her a card to show your thanks! Your kids will love it, and so will the Cast Member. It's something fun and free that will make your trip that much more fun (it's ok for you to give out a card too, mom or dad).

Go get your free cards now, and you'll be all set to tell a Cast Member whenever they've done a good job for you. Then just look for the smiles!"
end quote

You may even like to take this one step further, depending on how "magical" your moment was, and tell someone further up the chain about the great CM encounter you had. One way to make the MAGIC come full circle!

Have a magical day!:wizard:

The resort buses have a magical moment as they approach the Magic Kingdom. As the bus gets closer to the Contemporary Resort the road dips below a viaduct, which is in fact the connection between Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon – you can sometimes see the ferry from the Wilderness Lodge passing overhead.

I noticed an interesting little "inside joke" on the Riverboats in WDW's Magic Kingdom.

On one of the docks on the river near Big Thunder Mountain there is a wooden crate labeled "H. Abiff's Working Tools". Any Freemasons out there will get this reference.

Assuming that most of us aren't Freemasons why don't you explain it to us. No, don't bother, I googled it.

I googled it too but I lost the will to live before I found the answer!!!

Here's a couple of things we learned we visited Sept 11 - Sept 25.

The lines for the rides were very small, never really needing a fast pass.

Unfortunately this is a god time for Disney to perform their refurbs - Small World was closed, Tigger and Pooh, and Peter Pan and much of the Main Street were under refurb so pictures weren't as nice, but they do place decorative tarps up that look like the building so it didn't suffer too much. (leave it to Disney)

They are creating some new areas behind the Castle such as Belle's Story time, Beast's diner, and a castle for Aerial which may be done by 2011.

The love bugs were in full swarm which made some of the hot days a bit more irritating (especially Animal Kingdom).

During the last week in September, they are installing the Christmas Lights on Cinderella's castle, so early pictures you may wish to take of the castle will have a large boom of a crane in them, this also stops the pyrotechnics during the castle shows during the day. The crane is usally gone by evening.

Some more general tips we discovered:

During the Festival of the Lion King at Camp Minnie Mickey, the characters meeting circle was empty so my kids got a lot of personal time with the characters, Goofy actually left his pavillion to come play with them.

There are gold coins left in Cinderella's fountain (MK) if your early enough, the first batch is gold, then later silver, then finally purple. They are plastic but my kids loved getting them.

During heavy rain days, the fireworks still occur, just later (MK) and the parades reduce down to just the floats (in which Cinderella and the float riders have clear umbrellas).

Fireworks from behind castle were not as good as everyone says. There is too much too much looking forward and back because some fireworks fire from the castle and some from the rear of the park. (NOTE: during the finale, my family and I were on the Dumbo ride and it was quite a unique feeling as all the fireworks shot off when your flying high in Dumbo.)

The Contemporary observation deck on 4th floor is nice to see fireworks from, but this time there was no music.

Sitting on sidewalk on Main Street across from Bakery is great for bathroom runs through stores while parades are going on.

Strollers/wheelchairs are easier on Ferry than Monorail, sometime the cast members let you board first, get a seat. For those without strollers/wheel chairs, the upperdeck is your friend! More seats and a GREAT breeze!

will post more as we think of them.;)

Thank you! I'm useless at working out acronyms - but I nearly got there with the last attempt thanks to my friend Google!!!:rotfl:

Hi all who have contributed to this amazing thread.
I just want to say thank you for all the info, i am planning to come over to WDW from the u.k very soon & i will be squeezing the cast members for any juicy secret i can get so that i can add something that others will enjoy as much as i have.

the closest i have at the moment is be happy & enjoy yourself as last time i was in the Magic Kingdom i was so excited to see a Wonka bar in one of the shops ( i forget the name but i know it was between iasw & the hm & the lovely cast member that was it the store came over to me & said "take it its yours" people don't just give stuff to you over here in England so i thought he was joking but after some friendly banter & alot of laughter he said that i "should it eat now or it was gonna melt" & opened it! realising he actually did mean it & gave me it as a gift i did as he said with a smile.

i want to say thank you to the person who posted above the cast member appreciation info as i fully intened to use those on my trip this time & spread the magic far & wide.
Thanks again to all & hope my post is ok ( im a newbie)

I have seriously been off the disboards for a very long time! I think fb and twitter have taken over my Disney fascination, meeting tons of new Disney friends on those two SM outlets. Nevertheless, I have been busy sending out the document daily.

Here's a new window story from DHS. I haven't heard it before, so I thought I would post it here in case you all had not heard it either. Enjoy!

*****

Disney's Hollywood Studios pays homage to classic Hollywood by recreating famous Hollywood landmarks, using billboards to convey messages from 1920's Hollywood, and by placing Hollywood movie making references throughout. Once such reference is the mention of the International Brotherhood Of Second Assistant Directors.

During the height of Hollywood popularity nepotism (the act of hiring family members whether they were qualified or not) ran rampant. Often the "not so talented" family member would be given the fancy title of Second Assistant Director and the responsibility of standing behind the director while holding their coffee for them.

The catch phase on the sign stating: "We're Standing Behind You!" was a reference to the job duties of the Family Member - Second Assistant Directors.

Pretty neat, huh?

Just wanted to jump on, will be going in Feb & wanted some new ideas:surfweb:

I made CM thank you cards to hand to CMs that made my day, since there are so many I gave out quite a few. Basically business card size with our last name and date of visit.

Forgot where I got this idea.
