"You want to ride Dinosaur again?" - New 10/21 - The End!

Tuesday, April 28th - Morning Plans
8:15 bus to AK
9:00 Rope Drop @ AK
EE, Safari, Safari, Walking Trail(s)
FOTLK
Lunch at FTBBQ (CS #1)
Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids
Leave park by 1:00 for mid-day break

I was up at 6:15ish with Alex. I got him settled behind the curtain of the vanity area with his DVD player and toast. He sat and looked at his Guide to the Magic and DVD. I went over to OPR at 6:45 got two refillable mugs (coffee for DH, hot water for me to make my General Foods International coffee). I also picked up some plasticware for the room. This was my first walk over there – it was a nice short walk – once I cut through the buildings I walked beside the Martinique sandy beach to OPR. When I got back I sat and looked at Alex’s book with him until Zach & Tim got up at around 7ish. (Side note about Alex’s book… it talks about “Hidden Mickey’s” and where to find them in the various parks. Alex didn’t quite get the “hidden” part of the concept. Every time we saw Mickey Mouse ears he pointed them out as Hidden Mickey’s. The balloons we got the previous night at MK were “Hidden Mickey balloons!”) Once Tim was up, he went and got a breakfast sandwich (paid oop), I made Zach a bagel and I had some cinnamon toast. Tim showered while I packed up for the day (with way too much stuff) and we headed to the bus stop. We caught a bus around 8:40. We moved at a leisurely pace that morning and were only about 25 minutes behind “schedule.” On the way over, Zachary announced that he would not be riding EE or ToT today. We’ll see…

We arrived at Animal Kingdom just after 9:00.

We got our stroller and headed straight for EE. We stopped to visit a photopass photographer as we were heading toward the Tree of Life. I don't have those pictures yet, but I took this one...

Here are a couple of Alex on the way to EE:

And Zach:

IMG_2884.jpg

Alex & I rode EE – it was as fun as we remembered!! When we finished, Zach had decided that he would give it a try! So we all rode together & Zach loved it! We picked up some FPs for later in the day. Alex started whining about riding Kali – and he wouldn’t stop! But it was too early, so we headed over to the safari and while we were in line, we ran into some people from Alex’s school – the funny thing is that I went to elementary school with the dad! We loaded into our jeep and headed out for our 2 week safari. Alex wanted to take some pictures:

He handed the camera over to me and I got a few shots too:

The lions were actually up and moving around! And after we passed them the male let out a big roar. It was pretty cool. After the safari we decided that if we wanted Alex to stop whining about Kali, he needed to ride. Tim took him over to ride while Zach & I used our FPs on EE. I couldn’t believe he was asking to ride again! We looked around the gift shop after our ride and Zachary fell in love with this guy:

IMG_2964.jpg

We bought the big fluffy yeti and picked out a smaller one for Alex. I also got Alex an EE tank top.

Next it was time for an early lunch – we’ve learned to eat early to avoid the crowds. We decided to eat at our usual CS spot at AK – Flame Tree BBQ.

I apologize for no food porn – I never thought about it until it was too late… I discovered that the CS meals are all lumped together so the kids can get adult meals if they want to so Alex & I got the rotisserie chicken, Tim got the pork sandwich and Zach got a hot dog with apple sauce and grapes (he gave the grapes to Alex). We also got some fries to share. Tim got key lime pie, Alex & I both got cake – I gave mine to Zachary. The kids were happy with the cake but Tim was disappointed in the key lime pie. The food was good, but the big problem at FTBBQ was the birds!!

IMG_2959.jpg

Alex was FREAKING out – every time a duck or crane (??) came near him he would screech at the top of his lungs. We parked the stroller right next to him on one side to help block the birds but it didn’t completely solve the problem, so while I ate, I circled the table shooing away birds. We were happy to get out of there when we were done eating.

After lunch we headed to Dinoland. Zachary remembered riding Dinosaur last time and was asking to ride it again.

IMG_2962.jpg

But when we got into the movie area he chickened out and I had to take him out. We looked around for someone to trade pins with while we waited for Tim & Alex – but we couldn’t find anyone?? When Alex & Tim came out, Alex said it was ok but he didn’t want to ride again. Will they ever ride it again??

The kids were asking for EE again, so back that way we went. We stopped again for another photopass opportunity on the little bridge into Asia. We decided to head out of the park at this point to take a break at the resort. Alex had been asking to buy a Chip & Dale stuffed animals even before we arrived at Disney so we decided to look on our way out. The first store had a pair but they weren’t exactly what he wanted. Luckily we found them in the second store – Alex was so happy! He decided he wanted to save the rest of his money for the last day of our trip. He said he wanted a Goofy hat with ears. We’ll see if he could stick to that plan or not. I also purchased a package of locking pin backs to put on any newly traded pins.

Our bus stop was way at the end but luckily once we got there, we waited 5-10 minutes for the bus. The bus was freezing – which was OK for us, but we stopped at Blizzard Beach and I felt bad for the wet people getting on the bus. After BB it was a quick ride back to CBR. We headed to our room for our break – or did we??

Where do you think we are heading for the afternoon?

Next post: Mystery photo...

And the reveal of the Mystery Photo from this post...

Ooops... sorry I never said where this picture is from:

It hangs on the wall just before the FP line and regular line merge on Expedition Everest! :thumbsup2

Great AK update!

Good for Zachary for riding EE!! :goodvibes

Love the lion pics from the safari....so cool that they were up and about. I think that is fairly unusual! I see you also spotted the rare 'silly Zachary'!! LOL!

UGH...the birds at Flame Tree...I was shrieking as well! Difference is not one person ran interference for me!

How was Alex's Kali ride??

You stumped me with this mystery photo...I have NO IDEA where that is. :surfweb: Don't leave me hanging too long!

Great pictures of the Lion. I too got to hear one roar in 2002....it's one of the coolest things I have ever heard.

On my next trip to AK I'm going to see that EE sign for the first time and think of you! I so need to take a solo or girls trip to WDW before the next family vacation. I haven't riden any thrill rides since 2005 and the kids will be too small to ride when we go again.

Just found your TR, so I'm starting a little late - your TR title got me hooked. My DBF loves Dinosaur like no other.

I love all of your photos! I'm deathly afraid of birds just like Alex. And isn't the aquarium outside of the Nemo ride fabulous? Did you see the dolphins?

Can't wait to read more!

Well, I'm feeling a little bit jipped. I never saw the rare silly Zackary when we went on Safari, and I would have remembered it!;) I want a re-do!

You've got some brave boys there. Braver than me, for sure.

That Yeti is extra cute.:goodvibes

IMG_2954.jpg

What kind of animal is this....ie the eggs next to him? ;)

We looked around the gift shop after our ride and Zachary fell in love with this guy:

IMG_2964.jpg

A very cute pair

The food was good, but the big problem at FTBBQ was the birds!!

We had some baby ducks visitng us too when we ate at AK...luckily the kids were amsused and we didn't have any screaming.

But when we got into the movie area he chickened out and I had to take him out.

I'm a big kid and I don't like it [Dinosaur]...don't feel bad Zach :goodvibes

DH and I ride solo for many of the thrill rides too....Aldine goes on a few but not all. I hope to try EE w/ her next yr.

so I understand.

I'm looking forward to Margaret being tall enough for Soarin so we don't have split and wat for that ride anymore.

Alex and Zach look so happy and excited! :cloud9: Don't you just love it when your kids look like that??

Ugh! Those ducks! We have the same issues with Billy... like Alex, he can't tolerate them being anywhere near him. They can be pretty aggressive when they're looking for food! I can't blame the boys, really!

EE is a definite winner! Good for Zachary, that's a pretty intense ride for a little guy!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the day!

The birds at FTBBQ are awful!!
Alex & Tim enjoyed Kali - I didn't get a major report - good or bad...
I'll answer the mystery photo soon. :)

The roaring lion was very cool - he actually roared once and I didn't notice - we had already driven past them. The driver had to tell us to listen, then we heard it again! Luckily she was paying attention! :thumbsup2

Make sure that at least you aren't pregnant on your next trip - you and DH can do the baby swap thing... or what about a mom & dad trip without kids?

Just found your TR, so I'm starting a little late - your TR title got me hooked. My DBF loves Dinosaur like no other.

:welcome: More to come about Dinosaur... :rolleyes1
We didn't hang around the aquarium outside Nemo for too long - we saw some manatees though.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: The silly Zachary is very rare - you can only find him certain times of the year. ;)

nice update looking forward to more!

I'm hoping to work on an update tonight - but I am going to reveal my mystery photo shortly.

Margaret must be close... they have that little crotch strap for the little ones. Zachary was able to ride in 07 - he had just turned 4 - but I don't remember the height requirement off the top of my head. Is it 40? I think it's shorter than that? :confused3

I love the happy pictures - it makes all of the camera time worth it. :thumbsup2

Alex FREAKS whenever the birds even look like they are coming near - I'm surprised we made it through that lunch.

I can't believe how much Zach liked EE - he seemed to like it better than Alex.

First - Scrappie - those are actually ostrich eggs next to that ?? animal. Not his/her eggs. ;)

The Lights! Motors! Action! Stunt Show!! :cool1:
Sorry - I didn't get a distance shot of the mystery picture - but it's a little store front over on the right side of the stage.

So obviously our next stop was DHS. I'll try to get that update posted tonight... definitely sometime this weekend. :goodvibes

Up next: "Hold Me In"

Oh man! I totally should have known that one! LOL! The men all dressed in black wearing headsets should have been my first clue. Nice one! :thumbsup2

That was a good mystery photo! Great idea for a TR photo theme...

Oh man, I take enough pix as it is!! Stop it, Kathy, stop it!! :lmao:

Looking forward to reading you Studios adventure later on...

Believe me I won't be pregnant for the next Disney trip....or any trip for that matter!
DH gets motion sick so he doesn't really care to do the thrill rides....but he will to be a good sport like when it was just us in 2005. So baby swap would just end up being me riding. Not much fun in that. And if we going on a mom and dad only trip I'd rather go on a cruise so we can go scuba diving in the Carribean. Or go to Las Vegas.

I'm so sorry to be late. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves-CSR looks nice!
