There is a real problem with eBay, IBM (running ebay) and DSL and cable. It's on the eBay community boards. Not everyone is having a problem, but I sure am. I could take a nap in the amount of time it takes to bring up my own page of listings (or lack there of)

I'm having a hard time as well.. there are many pauses even before pages load as well.. and we are DSL customers!

We are taking a small break listing because we want to have all our other bidders paid before we start more.

Thanks Cindy B! I figured out the postage and put it on already so I just need to get the form at the PO and have the package stamped. Thanks for your help!!

I'm on good ole dial up and still had problems yesterday.

I had many problems over the weekend, but I've been fine for the past couple of days. I have cable modem. Strange.

Well - the news of eBay loading and running at a snail's pace is very discouraging.. Makes me feel like I wasted all those listing fees for nothing..

I was thinking of staying home from the lake this weekend (the weather forecast isn't all that great) so I could get a ton of auctions up, but it appears I would be throwing money out the window if I do so.. Guess I'll I just put the stuff in Turbo Lister and leace it at that until they fix the problems..
------------------

I have a question about billing from eBay.. Although the billing cycle is from the 15th to the 15th, they never get around to actually taking the money out of my bank account until the 30th or so.. Am I correct in assuming that any listing fees that I incur after this past Tuesday (the 15th) won't be deducted until next months billing cycle ends?

The main problems are cable and DSL users..but anytime eBay does such a major overhaul, problems pop up.

CAnn..others are reporting stellar sales, so it really just depends on what
you have up. If you have a lot of collectibles, they'll prob still go good, if you have relists of items that didn't sell the first time, they may not sell this time around, and if you are selling winter clothes and it's 90 out...well you get the picture LOL!! For a lot of people, slow eBay or not, this time of year is slow as mentioned earlier..vacations, etc.
For the first time items you have up, you haven't wasted your listing fees..you'll get them back when you relist later on and they sell. It's overhead, just like in any business. I'd love to sell all I put up, but I recognize that just doesn't always happen : (

The search feature on e-bay appears to be on the fritz today. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Just wandered over to the Community Board on eBay and there's tons of complaints about the search function.. Seems that no matter what the buyer or seller types in, they get a message of "too many listings" and are told to be more specific.. When they type in something more specific they either get the same message or are prompted to go through categories.. When they finally get to the page they want, after they click on one auction to view it and then try to go back to the page of listings, it's gone..

Geez - no wonder there are hardly any views on some of my items.. People can't find them!! :( I tried it myself and I can't search AT ALL...

Hope they fix this problem soon.. Not much point in listing things if buyers can't find them.. I'm going to put everything in Turbo and then wait a day or two and see if the problem is resolved..

Does ebay ever try to make good to their sellers for these types of situations? Like a small rebate on fees, or an extra day's listing? I am guessing the answer is no, but just wondered.

Their answer is generally that they give you another chance to list..and if it sells, you don't have to pay a second time for the listing.

C.Ann - can you give me some more info on Turbo listing? Is that a program or something???
--------------------

Yes - it's a program (free) that you load onto your computer from ebay. I can't remember how I was directed to it, but if you go to eBay and then to "selling", I think you'll find a link there.

This program allows you to do your listings off-line and then just upload them to eBay when you're ready to actually start the auctions. It's a great tool - although I did have a little trouble with it at first.. :)

I'm in Orlando on a dial up in the hotel and I'm not having any problems! I had a bunch of stuff set to start today so I can be home when they end next week. I hope that problem is okay by the time I get home to my cable connection.

Do you guys ship to unconfirmed addresses? My buyer from Japan paid via Paypal and has a unconfirmed address. I have shipped in the past to uncomfirmed addresses but being out of the country made me wonder.
So what do you do?
Thanks

My buyer from Japan paid via Paypal and has a unconfirmed address.

All out of the country Paypal payers are considered unconfirmed. I ship to where ever anyone wants me to ship.

Doris

PS Robin..for most dial up is ok...hope you are having a great time at Dis.

Who da thunk that???? I usually HATE dial up!

Thanks, I don't think there's any way that I can't have a great time here! :teeth:

I finally took the plunge today and signed up as a seller on eBay! Thanks guys for the encouragement. I will let you know how it goes.

Maggie

Yesterday I got a letter in them mail from the USPS, saying they found an empty mailer from one of my auctions. I completed the form, for them to search for the missing item, after the buyer stated they hadn't received the item.

The issue - the buyer did not purchase insurance and I stated that I would not be responsible for lost or damaged items if uninsured.

How would you handle this situation?

Thanks for you help.

I just got this in my emailbox and I believe that it's a fake attempt to get my PayPal password and user ID. I sent a copy to PayPal customer service. Has anyone else gotten this? Do you think that it is in any way legitimate?
