Hi, everyone I have been trying to catch up on this post. I am only on page 20 right now. LOL I have a question that I hope someone can help me with.

I recieved and email from someone saying that they are interested in one of my items. In the email she asked if I could end the auction and work out a deal with her. I have the starting bid and $6.99 and right now there is only one bid on it by her. I have never encounter anything like this. What is your advice do I end the auction and work out something with her. Or do I just let the auction go to the end? It ends on Monday night.

Thanks for any info

I have been asked to do this in the past. I never have done it though. Usually it's the same situation, it is one bidder who wants to end it at the starting price. If you think you can get more bids, then by all means keep the auction going. I actually had this happen last week. I had the item listed for 3.99 shipping was 6.00. The women wanted me to end the auction and drop the shipping by 1.00. Well I had no other bids and was less than 2 days to the end. I didn't end the auction. The item ended up going for $13.00 with something like 9 bids, and full shipping (it actually ended up costing me 6.20 to ship, so I would of eaten more profits by ending it for this lady). It is a personal choice, but I think I'd tell her I want to wait alittle longer.

Somewhere in this thread are directions for putting a code in your auctions which will somehow tell you how many buyers are "watching" your auction. Does anyone use that? If so, can you tell me how it works and where I would put the posted long code in my auction description.

Thanks!

No way would I end the auction early. Lately it seems like most bids are coming in during the last hour of my auctions. And you have no idea how many people may be watching your auction....if you end it now you may have some angry emails waiting for you.

Watch Script

Register at the above link and get your script. Then simply paste it into your auction in the Description area. I also use the free Andale counters with my auctions. When you have filled out your auction information it you'll be shown how your auction will look.....you will not see the script at that time. If you do see the script you've done something wrong and need to go back and fix it. After your auction has started at any time you can log into the link above and see if anyone is watching your auction.

just pouting! 10 auctions & only one has bids!

I need to put in that 'watching' link above to see if anyone is even tracking them!

What a week for Ebay...

Can anyone explain the NPB for me?

We had some auctions end last Sunday.. (week from yesterday). No communication, and sent invoices. No email from sellers stating I'm on vacation, etc... or I will send it, anything.

We only take Paypal... so its not like we are waiting for a MO to come in, etc..

This is with 3 auctions, not just one.

Sent an email stating it had been a week, and at 10 days we will be filing a NPB report.

So, for the seller end, what do you do when you file a NPB? Do you get your money back? How about listing fees? Do you get negative feedback?

Do all of you buy/sell under the same ebay name? I have mine set up that my seller name is different than my buyer name? I had great feedback as a buyer and am now building my seller feedback. Is this a good idea or not?

And, I went to the new "Disney Outlet" in our outlet mall yesterday. Have to say I was not very impressed. None of the merchandise was from WDW. Almost everything said Disney's California Adventure. And, the prices were not that cheap. The sweatshirts, nightshirts, etc. were 30-40% off of retail. That doesn't seem like a very good outlet price to me. I did buy my son a baseball cap with Mickey dressed as a pirate that had no park wording. Also bought a baby gift that had a tag from Disneyland Resort. Oh, and my 1 year old got a beanie baby (which were 50% off) of one of the bears from the Country Bear Jamboree. We also got two of the fat pens for our December trip. They both say Disneyland, but I figured it didn't matter. They were 60% off.

Overall I wasn't very impressed with the store. It is only there for 3 months--will close in August. I like the Character Warehouse in Myrtle Beach better.

I guess you could do that... but we've always used the same.

...snip...

Hopefully you won't get negative feedback out of it, but who knows what some people will do. I believe you only get your final value fees, and would have to relist and sell to be refunded the second listing fees.

I am about to file my 1st, 2nd & 3rd NPB final fee refund request, all on the same person. She bid on and won 3 of my auctions on the 19th of June, and has been stringing me along for a month ("I was in the hospital... I'll send a MO.... oh, I thought I paid with PayPal already.... oh, what is your PayPal ID and the total again?" ... then 10 days of no response.) Funny, she has been actively bidding on and receiving FB on subsequent auctions!

I have followed the ebay process and had to wait 10 days for her not to respond to ebay's last warning before doing the final request for my final value fees back. I will be interested to see if she gets suspended for non-payment of my 3 auctions, or if the 3 non-payments have to be from separate sellers. Anybody know that one? If not, I'll post later and let you all know.

Glad to say that this is the first time I've had to do this. It rankles me since I would have been very understanding if she had said in the first place that she was hospitalized and couldn't pay/changed her mind. But after a month of patience, I'm just going to go by the book. Oh, well, most everyone else has been delightful to deal with.

If I remeber reading correctly it has to be from three seperate sellers for the person to be suspended.

I filled a NPB form, waited the 7 days or whatever it is for the buyer to pay. Buyer didn't pay, I filled for FV fee's reimbursement, left negative feedback and 2 days later got payment.

If you do get payment after get your FV fees reimbursed you need to contact Ebay to get it reversed.

Thanks, disneychrista - that is pretty much what I expected. Ebay seems to want to protect people from allowing 1 person's experience to carry too much weight, and I guess that is a good thing over all.

:)

On a happier note, I'm doing great wth more 25 cent yard sale items. Got a stack of 23 travel magazines ranging from 1957 to 1987, and 15 of them are Christmas issues. They are going for $1.50 up on ebay, and I got all 23 for a quarter. Haven't listed them yet - may save the 15 Dec. issues for closer to Christmas time.

Also found a pewter bicentennial plate from a New England town, complete with a printed, numbered back label talking about the dedication of the picture, and got a starting bid on it within 2 or 3 hours of listing it. I love it when that happens! :)

Hi folks,

I have a question. I have listed a *large* big ticket item on EBay. I have stated that I will deliver the item to the winner if within 2 hrs of my home. I also stated that anyone that wishes to have it shipped should contact me before bidding as I have *NO IDEA* how to ship something this big.

Someone had bid on this item ( :D ). Unfortunately, I don't know where they are from and I'd like to head off any problems early. Is there a way to find out roughly where a member lives? Having the state of residence or nearest major city is sufficient.

I am concerned because this is a new user with an AOL account for email. I am hoping that he actually read the whole auction. With the new EBay format, the buyer could just press the "Bid" button at the top without ever reaing my shipping terms. :(

Thanks everyone,

Steve

Their zip code should be in the end of auction notice that eBay sent. You can plug it in the post office site (pretend you are sending them mail and trying to get the total..or post it here and I'll do it for you). You may recognize it as a local zip code.

Hi,

Sorry. I wasn't clear. The auction hasn't ended yet. I was hoping to make sure that I was contacted if the Buyer wants it shipped. I asked the Buyers to email me before bidding because, frankly, I'm not sure how I would get this item shipped out.

I checked FedEx Freight. I'm in New England. To ship this item to California would cost $400+

So, I'd like to contact any non-local bidders to make sure they have read the auction or are willing to foot the bill.

Thanks,
Steve

Also, would anyone have any idea where I can find a 70" x 70" x 24" box that can hold around 90lbs. ?

why not just send the buyer an email? I think that would be the easiest way to avoid the unexpected when the auction ends.

I was hoping to find out the general area the bidder was from before emailing. If they are relatively local, then there is no need to bother them. I'd hate to be sending emails out and bothering the bidders if it is not necessary.

I thought I had read somewhere in this thread that there is a way to get the user's Region/State. Yes?

I just received a PM from Webmaster Pete notifying me that my thread - THIS THREAD - now has a direct link on the DIS homepage - wdwinfo.com - and I am one of the recipients of the "Homey Award"!!!!!

If it said,"Homely" award, I could understand (actually that's exactly what I thought it said at first glance - LOL) - but golly gee whiz!! To be in the featured sections on the homepage?? I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or just blush my brains out!

There was something that he wanted to put under my name in regards to this, but the tag fairies have hit me so many times they couldn't fit it in (due to character limitations) and he included something in the email that I could put in my signature instead, but all I saw was a red box.. :( I asked him if he could have the tag fairies take away all that stuff so he could put whatever this thing is there instead, but I don't know if he'll be able to..

I'm just SOOOO excited.. BUT - let me make it perfectly clear that without all of YOU - and particularly DMRick (who was my own personal coach in getting me started on eBay) - this never would have happened..

Can you imagine?? WE'RE ON THE DIS HOMEPAGE !!!!!!!

Yaaaaay eBay - and Yaaaay DIS!!!! Whoo hoo!!
