Another vote for Sunday night endings! I'm having an *AWESOME* night :bounce: :Pinkbounc and I hope everyone else is too!!

Lori

Sunday night had always been best for me..til I tried midweek..Tuesday and Wed seem good too in the Fall.
I was looking around to see when some higher priced stuff sold and I noticed that collectible type stuff seems to end at any time, and the collectors find it. I like to have stuff end all over the place, so I have stuff coming and going..but in the past Sundays has been best. Of course Sundays is also when eBay has problems..both with listing, and searching etc.

Count me in as another "all over the place" gal.. LOL I have them end whenever I darn well feel like it and I can't see where it's made any difference at all.. Because I basically do this "full-time", there's no way I could handle everything ending at ONCE, so I stagger it throughout the week..

This coming week I may try for just Sunday and Monday endings though because I have other things I need to deal with and I'll be sure to note if it makes a difference..

When I first started I thought it was "written in stone" that you would be a dismal failure if auctions closed on any day or night other than Sunday.. It made me frustrated and over-anxious because I was working outside of the home full-time then so I finally just got fed up and "threw all caution to the winds.." Didn't make ONE bit of difference.. I'm still here - still selling - and I'm enjoying it a LOT more without the pressure of having to get things up and have them end within a certain time frame..

I don't care HOW I get the money.. I don't care WHEN I get the money.. I just WANT the money - cause...............

I'm goin' to Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yaaaaaaaay

Does insurance really spead up the delivery on packages? I paid for two auction I won on the same day. One was mailed on the 7/28 and I got it on the 8/2. The other was supposed to have been mailed on 7/28 and I haven't received it yet. The one that already arrived was insured.

Hope I get the other one because it is a top that is supposed to match the first one.:(

I just asked this question on a craft board I'm on, then thought I would also post it here (by the way I looked up this gals buying history on eBay, and I do believe by what she has bought, that she could very well be a writer.)

I just got an email asking if I would agree to give some information
about my business for a major magazine article (she told me the mag's
name..and I would love to be a part of it, as I could see big sales
if I was). The gal asked if she could call me to discuss a particular
craft item I make, that would fit with a story she is writing.
However, her email is a Hotmail account. I told her I would be happy
to speak with her, but would prefer if she wrote using a more
mainstream email addy, as I wasn't comfortable giving my phone number
to a Hotmail account. Was I being paranoid, and would a magazine not
give their people a regular account? Anyone know?

How exciting!!!! Proceed cautiously though.. There are all kinds of "scams" out there and you can NEVER be too careful..

I've seen your products - so I think this may be on the up-and-up..BUT, having said that, I would request a WHOLE bunch of info from her (explain nicely all the scams floating around).. I would even go so far as to ask the name of a person AT the magazine where you could verify that she'll be writing for them.. I would get HER phone# and postal address as well and do some checking..

I really, really hope this is for real!! 'Cause then I can say that I "know" that lady they're talking about in the magazine.. LOL

Keep us posted - this is SOOOOOO exciting!!!!;)

She could be freelancing for a magazine and then it would be perfectly natural to have a hotmail account since she is not on staff at the magazine. Basically she gets approval to write a certain story for the mag and I know many writers use boards and such to get their "subjects". So it could very well be legit. Good luck!

She is a freelancer (and Hotmail is free LOL!)..I've spent the last 30 minutes reading her past stories. I've called the number she gave me after I wrote..and now I'm excited. I told hubby, after putting it off for two years, he has til tongiht to get my web page done (he works well under pressure!). She has my phone number and hopefully she'll still want to call, after my skepticism.

Her articles are wonderful, and I'm really hoping it happens now!
Doris

Doris - congrats! That's very exciting. I've worked in publishing and writers are usually freelance and don't have company (ie. janedoe@blahblahpublishing.com) email addresses. That being said, as C.Ann suggested, perhaps you could get the name & number of her contact at the magazine to call and verify. You can't be too careful in this day and age! A legit publication should have no problem with this.

Again, congrats!
Lori

Wow, that is just awesome!!!

Actually, I think that your skepticism toward her will work in your favor... a really savvy business person is not going to blunder blindly into a possible scam. Your caution should, in addition to protecting you, let her know that you are very serious about what you are doing, and lend you even more credibility.

Can't wait to hear how it goes from here!

Question about Paypal ...

If I accept a Paypal echeck, will that bump me up to a business account where I have to pay fees? Is it like accepting a credit card?

Maggie

I mailed a package from NY to CA on 7/24 (not quite 2 weeks yet). Anyway it was sent Media Mail. Which can take this long right?
The buyer keeps emailing me everyday asking me to find out where it is. I don't even think I can. I have asked her to give it 2 weeks. I did put in the auction the item would be going media mail. And if they wanted something faster it would be additional. Since I can't trace this, how long before I just offer to give her the money back?

No accepting Echeck will not cause you to have to pay fees. I had the same concern, when someone paid by echeck but was happy to find that I was able to.

I used media mail for an item that went from NH to CA, got to PO on 7/21, and was delivered today. I know because I used stamps.com with DC. Ask the buyer to give it a couple more days, and it will probably arrive.

Anyone still selling summer clothing? Wondering if I should put a lot of this stuff away until next year?

Is anybody getting hits on the Baconbuttie watchlist lately? I was using this tool very successfully and now it appears that nobody is watching anything, nor has been for weeks. I tend to doubt that since I sold 7 of 11 items listed last week, and most of the bids came in on the last hour - a few in the last minutes. If anyone is willing to watch one of my items, please PM me and I'll send you a link.

It appears Baconbuttie updated their offerings over the past couple of weeks. I keep regenerating my watch script and updating it in my listings, but nothing's happening.

Anyway, TIA if anyone can help. I can also email Baconbuttie, but I figure several of you are using this tool and maybe I'm not alone???
