Okay class - I'm detecting a little discouragement among some of you - as well as some fears, and lack of stick-to-it-tiveness....
Soooooo.. We're going to have a class in
motivation today!!
-------------------
Now - let me start off with people who are fearful of accepting checks.. I have probably sold over a hundred items now, received personal checks for many of them (before I started to accept credit cards) and I never had a problem with
any of them.. If you're talking a relatively small amount of money (say under $25 or so) and the item you've sold would have either gone in the trash or sold for 50 cents in a garage sale, isn't it worth the risk to just take the check and be done with it? Simply stash that cash aside for a month or so - just in case the check does bounce and you have to redeposit the money in your bank account.. The goal is to get to
Disney.. You
must keep that in mind at all times and swallow those fears...
Next is the NPB's.. Yes - they're out there.. I've only had 1 that didn't come through and I simply relisted the item (after emailing this person numerous times) and it SOLD - no muss, no fuss.. It's a given with eBay that some folks will NEVER pay, but what about the other 100 that will? You wanna go to
Disney - right?
Wondering about selling clothes 'cause someone
else ended up with NPB's?? Well, I'll bet for every person who had an NPB,
75 other sellers had NO problems at all! Are you still thinking
Disney??
Now - are you still sitting on the fence about getting started? Maybe you're started, but stalled? Or you're procrastinating - thinking you'll list a few more things "tomorrow"?? Could be headed for trouble there - you might wake up some morning and find out "tomorrow" is actually
today - the day you were
supposed to be heading out to
Disney - IF you had done your homework!!
Nothing to sell? I
doubt it!! Have you really looked long and hard around your house? Got any collections you've lost interest in? What about all those horrible birthday/Christmas gifts - still brand new, but stuck up on a shelf in the closet? How about souveniers from someplace
you have gone, but someone else has never had the opportunity to go to and would like a momento from? Do you know that people collect virtually
everything - new and old?? Maps; cookie cutters; post cards; cookbooks; hats; key chains; advertising pens and pencils; anything with a certain animal on it; coffee mugs; can openers; stencils; coloring books; costume jewelry; magnets; old cameras; playing cards; and on and on and on... You
DO have items to sell!!!
Of course if you're going to stick with this plan, then you need
daily motivation as well.. Here are some ideas:
Place
Disney World photos all around your computer.. Stick a few on your fridge too!
Play Disney soundtracks whenever you can - try for once a day..
Browse through photos from PAST trips if you've been there before.. Remember how great it was - and how bad you want to go back again..
Go on-line and sign up for every single brochure or travel packet you can find for
Disney and have them sent to your HOME.. That way every day when you get the mail, your
goal will be staring you right in the face!!!
Plan, plan, plan that trip! Spend a bit of time each day looking at various motel/hotels - even if you have already chosen one.. It keeps you motivated and if you see something you like BETTER but will cost you an extra seventy bucks for your stay, then it will
motivate you to find one - or several things - that you can sell that will bring in that extra money!!
Come on gang - WE CAN DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay ebay!!
I'm goin' to Disney!!!!!!!!!
