Need Some Help PLEASE! :(
My Ebay problems seem endless this week - mostly little things - one non paying bidder, one person who wants to wait and see if I put up anything else in the next few days that she wants before she pays so I can combine shipping  , things of that sort. Now that brings me to my big question of the day. All my auctions clearly state - ship to US only. Now one bidder one and paid via Paypal 5 days later. Her shipping address was obviously a military address but I didn't really know anything about them so I didn't realize it was overseas. I get to the post office and they say it's overseas and there are customs forms to fill out. I left with this package as this is why I only ship to US, I didn't want to get involved with this type thing. So I emailed this bidder and gave her three options - 1. Cancel transaction and I'll refund money, 2. She pay the difference in shipping/handling 3. I ship it to someone in the US who could forward to her. Does this seem fair? What would you do? I haven't heard back from her yet but felt like I was being pretty fair. As a true Ebay newbie the paying/shipping part has been a trial by fire. :teeth: But I'm learning a lot.

WOW, I think you were fair.
I have done the same thing. It is a little agravating because here you didn't know and then the postoffice person sends you back to the end of the line to fill out the form.
If you want to avoid this I would also put no military boxes under shippping.
Just my 2 cents.

Kaye and Jim00
I pretty sure that shipping to an military address has the same PO rate as shipping in the US. The only thing about shipping to a APO,AE is that you can't get DC but you can get insurance on it. The PO also told me that I should ship it priorty otherwise parcel post would be a very slow boat:D and it would take forever. On the customs form put the price and what it is.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the responses! My postmaster gave me the impression that the shipping would be more? I'm sure I'll be getting an interesting email from the buyer :hyper: after my email. I did try to specify that I am really unfamiliar with shipping overseas thus my "shipping to the US only" in my auctions. I didn't realize the shipping would be the same - will have to take a closer look at this customs form and see if I can get it figured out. The postmaster did also mention that I couldn't use DC on the package. As I've never shipped out of the states I must have misunderstood what he was trying to tell me I would have to do. Oh well, hopefully the buyer will be understanding about my lack of knowledge.

I need a little help with an item.
I just sold one of my auctions , the buyer used BIN.
They paid with paypal.
Now the problem is...
They are new to ebay 0 feedback and just signed up today.
The paypal payment is unverified and is being sent to a different name other than the person who bought it.
They send an email that says they sent payment but it is unverified because it is being sent to her daughter because she is not around in the day to get it.
The auction with shipping is 156.00 so I am a little concerned.
I don't know if I should just cross my fingers and hope this person is honest or should I check it another way???
Any help??:scratchin

If you ship to an unconfirmed address, you are not covered under the Paypal seller's guarantee against charge backs. If someone is a newbie, with less than 10 feedback & the item is over $50, I email the buyer & tell them I cannot accept the payment & ship item until their address is verified- takes a few days. I only ship to verified address under Paypal's seller's policies. If this is not possible, I will issue a refund. Beware of fraud on eBay. If a buyer has good feedback & has bought items in your price range successfully, then I wouldn't worry. In the future it is wise to put this in your listings - " I reserve the right to refuse Paypal payments from members who do not have a confirmed address" Then you can decide whether to accept/deny based on the buyers experience.

Hope that helps!

kayeandjim00 ~ APOs can be confusing. The shipping is the US rate from your zip to the military base zip. The way it works is something like this - I am stationed in Japan, but my APO is in CA. The package is sent to CA, then shipped via military transport to the base in Japan. The USPS can't issue a DC, as once it is delivered to the CA base, it's out of their hands.

I put in my listings to inquire for shipping rates fees to APOs. I only ship Priority to APOs, require insurance be purchased ( as you have no proof of delivery) & I charge a $2.00 handling fee for paperwork- customs form. I am firm & will only report what they paid, nothing less, and none of this gift stuff... It only will cause you trouble.

If they pay you with Paypal, make sure their APO is their confirmed address, or you are not covered under Paypal's seller's policies... Also, grab a few customs forms for the future at you P.O. if you are going to accept APOs. Makes it easier on you.

Good luck!

Hi Jenifer and everybody else!

Doris left last Tuesday, and I think she'll be back sometime next week.

I leave tomorrow night - plane takes off at 7:30... 3 hour direct flight!!!
:jumping1:

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I have been going nuts at work getting ready to be on vacation for a week, though I've felt like I was missing something with no auctions going! Ahhhh. A true vacation.

We've had record lows in the northeast and I woke up to -12 F and frozen pipes this morning! Thank goodness it's going back up to normal temps tomorrow! We have someone here at the house while we're gone, but I would much rather know that daytime temps are closer to the 20's!

Jenifer, what in the world was hazardous?!?!? Would you mind sharing? Those must be some pretty interesting auctions you've been going to! ;)

Well, off to dance around some more!!!! We're not even packed, yet, but we always bring so darn much stuff we thought maybe waiting would help us put less in the suitcase! ;)
:hyper: :cool1: :cool2: :3dglasses :wave2:

Joy, if you check in again before you leave, have a GREAT trip! Kiss Mickey for me and tell him I'll see him in a couple weeks!

My hazardous item was a Red Comet Fire Greande Extinguisher. Do a search for "Fire Grenade" and you'll see them. They're old. Also, notice the ones that bring higher prices have thier brackets or boxes with them. The ones that are unusual bring the big bucks. I'd never heard of them before this auction.

This one auction house has a website where they post the stuff that they're going to be auctioning and I always do a little research from the site. They had these things listed and I did a search on ebay and sure enough they sell them on ebay...some go as high as $800. If you see them, buy them, but don't pay too much for the sort of plain ones.

So, I went to the auction and won two of them for $50 a piece and listed them. Of course upon further research I find that mine only go for around what I paid. But I list them anyway so I can at least get part of my $100 back.

Then yesterday I get the email from Ebay that they pulled one of them because they contain hazardous material. I thought, no way, there's all kinds of them up on ebay right now, how come mine gets pulled! So I do more research and find that some of them state that they've been emptied. So, I guess I've got to empty mine and try to sell it again. I also learn that some come with just salt water which is apparently what my other one has because it hasn't been pulled. I guess I'll empty my dangerous one and put it up again when I get back from vacation. Live and learn.

Well - I may soon be joining the ranks of those who have gotten a neg.. I'm dealing with a VERY difficult man right now and I just have a gut feeling he's going to neg me just to be spiteful..

Fom just before Christmas until now I've been selling some items that I preferred to receive payment for either via Paypal or a postal money order - which was clearly stated in my auctions..

So this guy wins one of the auctions on Jan. 2nd and immediately sends me a "nasty gram" in regards to my payment preferences.. I email him back - explaining very politely why I was requesting payment in one of these two forms - and thought that would be the end of it.. Wrong!

Next day I get my second "nasty gram" - where he proceeds to tell me he doesn't appreciate the fact that I'm being so rigid with my terms and now he's going to have to make a special trip to the post office on Monday (the 5th) to buy the MO and says, "So now you're just going to have to WAIT for your money whereas I COULD have sent you a presonal check on Saturday!!" Okay - whatever - so I again email him back apologizing for any inconvenience, etc., but those are the terms and I'm not concerned that I'll have to wait an extra day or two for payment..

His money order arrives on Friday (the 9th) and I ship his item on Saturday morning (the 10th) via Parcel Post - the only form of shipping he would agree to.. Last night (the 16th) I get an email from him demanding to know WHERE the item is - WHEN did I ship it - HOW did I ship it - and "considering the amount you charged for shipping & handling" it SHOULD be here by now!!

So - I check the DC on-line and it shows that the item was DELIVERED to his city at 9:13 yesterday morning.. So I email him back again and tell him that the DC shows that it was delivered to his city yesterday morning and he might want to check with the post office.. I also very politely explained that if he felt the S&H was too high perhaps he shouldn't have bid on the item and that his was the very FIRST complaint I had ever received about S&H fees or the speed with which I ship.. I directed him to my feedback to verify this and explained that I couldn't possibly have shipped any faster than the day after I received his payment and that I really have no control over the speed (or lack thereof) in which the Post Office delivers packages..

Haven't heard a peep from him since, but I just have this "gut" feeling that I haven't heard the last from him.. I still have several more of these type of items that will be relisted (probably this weekend) so I've gone ahead and put him on my blocked bidders list already.. I don't need the aggravation and quite frankly, I don't think the 75 cents that I added to the actual shipping cost was out of line..

Any who........don't be surprised if I come back to this thread within the next few days and announce that I got my first neg...
I'm not worried about it - my current 100% positive feedback and comments from my buyers pretty much speaks for itself - but if I have to get a neg, I wish it were for something that was actually my fault or within my control..
--------------------

Oh - and on another note.. Has anyone else noticed this since the holidays ended... I'm getting more and more money order payments as opposed to Paypal.. Think it's because people don't want to run up more money on their cards, or what?

Thanks dianthus

 I emailed the person but no reply yet. I am so nervous.

RE:

I myself have delt with a person like this:mad:
He kept emailing me 4-5 times saying I was misrepresenting my item.~:crazy2:
I went to ebay forum and asked the nice people to review my item
I will give you the same advice that they gave me...

"This guy has nothing else to do but give people a hard time"pirate: "The more you reply to his emails the more he is going to haunt you."
In your case.you sent him the product, it is paid for, it reached him.
Thats it, send him out the delete file and block his emails::yes::
If he leaves neg..yes it upsetting but I am sure your positive feedback speaks for itself.
I wouldn't leave any feedback for him yet.
It is not worth the headache....:headache:
He must be pretty lonely and angry....
Good Luck~

Hang in there C.Ann, you've done all you can do and ain't nothing going to make this jerk happy. I've noticed alot more people trying to change my terms of service and sending more mo's & checks since Christmas as well. I use shipping calculators and they still want to know how much on shipping. Telling me they prefer FedEx (which I won't use) instead of USPS, yada, yada, yada. More 0 & 1 bidders than normal too, so far no problems paying though.

Good luck with that troublemaker. I finally have a bid on a 2nd item so at least I will make a minimum of $3.99 this week. The first item would only take care of my listing fees on all of the other ones!!! How depressing. I do have views on the other ones so hopefully one or two more will pick up a bid. I think I have about 9 items listed.

Tomorrow nite (maybe tonite if I get ambitious enough) I am listing the items I purchased from the American Girl outlet store. Hopefully that will help offset the items I actually purchased for DD!!!:p - along with the $202 car bill & the $42 hotel when the roads iced over last nite after taking DS back to school.

jgates... I know the feeling.. I have some items closing tonight and the last of them tomorrow and its not looking too good so far.. although I had items close on Wednesday so for the actual week I didnt do too bad... Only thing is the "big" selling item last week, the Disney hopper pass still has yet to be paid for.. The person who won the bid has not responded to the invoice or the followup I sent.. she has not emailed me to say theres a problem or the money is in the mail or anything.. I specifically put in the bid that I requested payment within 7 days which today is the 7th day.. I sent her a nice email earlier today and adv that if I did not hear from her or recv payment by the end of today I was relisting it.. I sure hope she comes thru, but with not responding at all to me this past week I kind of think they wont respond today.. With having to buy the new digital camera I have barely made a profit off the ebay items I have sold so far.. I paid for the camera yesterday and it is already on its way to me via ups, so I should have it early next week and will defnitely get out there and list more items then.. Until then I will do all my research so I can list right away.. The kicker with the camera is that when I got back to work from lunch yesterday the place that had my original camera called me and said that they can rebuild the lens and the price to fix and ship back to me will be $200!! So now I will have 2 of the exact same digital camera... Once I get mine back I will put one of them up for sale on Ebay.. I should be able to get my money back that I spent for the one on Ebay because that model seems to sell very well and for a good price.. It seems like you either have no camera or too many!!! Oh well... I had to have one if I planned on doing Ebay again..

Can someone answer me quick -

#1- if I have a reserve and it meets the reserve they refund it right?

#2 - if you have a reserve, the BIN does not disappear until bids exceed the reserve right?

I know the answers, I just want someone to confirm and clear my head so I can get those doll clothes up. I see a bunch already going on BIN. I now know where the Lake Villa IL lady buys her stuff!!! I was looking at her auctions before Xmas. I'm going to try a few - if she has a bunch more and my auctions don't pick up any hits I'll save them for Xmas listings. (That is painful to say).

OK - I just got a negative!!!!

Here is the auction - the top picture should still be available for viewing. I must have deleted the box photo, but the glasses should still appear.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=12&item=2584288258

What in the world? These eye glasses are like 70 years old? The picture is VERY accurate. I wrapped them meticulously! I am IRATE!

AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO RESPOND TO THE FEEDBACK SINCE THEY CHANGED IT!!! WHO CAN HELP ME OUT HERE! - I finally found it buy linking to feedback forum then it came up.

BUT I AM STILL MAD!!! THIS IS THE ONE I HAD TO SHIP TO MILITARY ADDRESS & EVERYTHING. I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF REFUSING IT!!!

And I am now SOOOOO mad I want to do a negative in return.
So how should I handle it - Neutral or Negative? I was thinking something like....
Buyer leaves unwarranted neg feedback w/out ever contacting me to work out!!!

(not that there was anything to work out- I don't expect a pair of 70 year old eye glasses to be new off the shelf from Wallyworld - these were in great shape - I even tried them on - no scratches or anything!!!)

I suppose this will screw up the bidding on my other auctions. It is sooo tempting to just start over again with a brand new me. My feedback was finally working its way up to 99% again (after the moron that never paid me neg'd me for asking for my $$) and now I am shot to heck again.

Hi!
I amnew around here but wanted to pop in and say hi! I am currently trying to get some extra money for WDW by selling on ebay.
It is a rough time out there. Nothing is selling like I wish it would.

I sold alot of stuff at Christmas and am expecting a few negs out of that because of UPS shipping problems and out of the ordinary, irrational buyers.

If anyone has any tips for me on how to make more money, I am always open to new ideas! Thanks!

Trish

jgates - did you take a look at the feed back that she has left for other people? It looks like you were not the only one she left a neg for. So I think even if you had bent over backwards and then walked through a ring of fire to make her happy. She still would not have been happy. I bet you that the next person that she buys from will also get a neg from her, and they will not hear a word from her before she does it.

I think you should report it to ebay. I think I remember reading that was something new that they are now doing. To me that glasses looked in fine shape, especialy seeing how they were only $6.00. I am sure that if someone who was right in the head, had bought the glasses you would not have gotten that neg.

I think that your response to the neg was great. It lets every one know that you didn't do anything wrong, and that you would have been happy to help, had you known in the first place. So don't change you user name and start all over. What is the point. Ebay now has that icon, that will show up next to you new name, saying that you use to be some one else, and it links them to the old feedback stuff.

Hi! Yes, I think that sounds fair. As someone living on an overseas military base, let me explain exactly how shipping to us works. :) An APO/FPO address is considered a US mailing address, and the shipping costs & shipping options (media mail, parcel post, priority) are the same as shipping in the US. Delivery confirmation is not available, but insurance is. The one difference in shipping to an APO/FPO address is that a customs form needs to be filled out. The little green customs forms are very simple -- no more work than filling out a delivery confirmation or insurance form. That being said, I know it can be a shock for someone to wander into the post office with a package thinking it's a regular US address and suddenly find out about the customs form. So, I know that I personally e-mail sellers of "US Only" auctions BEFORE bidding, explain the situation with the FPO address, ask if it's OK for me to bid on the auction, and offer to pay $1 or $2 "handling fee" to compensate for the hassle of the customs form. So far, I've always had sellers thank me for asking and tell me to go ahead and bid.

Anyway, I hope that explaination helps people understand how the military PO thing works! I do have a favor for all of you ebay sellers, though. If you absolutely don't want to mess with the customs form (something I totally understand) could you put a line in your auction terms stating something like "No APO/FPO addresses, please!" Then I know not to bother to email you & see if it's OK for me to bid. On the other hand, if you don't mind the inconvenience of the customs form, could you put in something like "We ship to APO/FPO addresses"? That would probably eliminate a lot of frustration on the part of both the buyer & seller. There have been some items I really wanted, but I didn't bid on them because they were closing soon & I wouldn't have time to e-mail the seller and make sure it was OK for me to bid on the item. So, I missed out on the item, and the seller missed out on getting a higher bid price for it.

peanutzmom- thanks for the info. I will have to add: "We ship to APO/FPO addresses" to my listing for now on.

I remeber the first time that I had one of those, it kind've through me for a loop, because the state listed was in the US. But see how I feel out one of the little green from at least once a selling period, it was not biggy. It was just great to know for the future, so that I can have the form ready, for the next time.

jgates-I think I would neg her with "Caution Sellers, check FB to others she negs everyone." or something like that. I've already added her to my blocked bidder list and I suggest you and everyone else do the same. Obviously he/she is new and doesn't know what she's doing. Either that or he/she is evil and just bidding to neg. I would also contact ebay and try to get it removed and alert them to what she/he is doing. They might not do anything, but it would be worth the effort. I don't think I'd start over either. I think this should be a lesson to all of us to check the FB of our buyers, even FB left for others. I know I never do it.
