You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

People watching is down to zero here for me too. I guess maybe everyone deleted me from there watch page.

I had 15 people watching my items total, an hour later they were all gone. I don't think they all deleted my auctions from their watching page.....

I do have another newbie question. What time of year should I start listing my fall clothes. I have tons of jackets and special occassion dresses (mostly Christmas) from my DDs that I plan to sell. Some of the jackets are fall jackets so I am assuming that I will list them first, but when should I consider starting?

Last year I believe I recall hearing folks say they began listing fall/winter items in August.. You could try one or two things then and see if people are bidding yet..

I have a bunch of children's fall/winter items myself so if you get a concrete answer, let me know! LOL ;)

I'm going to start listing back to school/fall items around August 1. Some schools start in August and most people start thinking about school shopping once August arrives.

I would say once you see the fall clothes in the stores, start listing!

OK - I am sure that this has been addressed before but if someone could give me some advice I'd REALLY appreciate it. I shipped a Pooh figurine to Hawaii last week and it arrived broken. The item was wrapped well in bubble wrap and I have shipped about 20 of these items so far and have had no problems. Now the buyer has sent an email that it is broken along with pictures. My question is what is my responsibility? He didn't purchase insurance so I'm not sure that this is really "my" fault as it was in one piece when shipped and carefully packaged. What do I do??!!! :confused3: He didn't ask for anything nor really say what he wants but I'm not sure what to offer?!

If you are certain it's the same one - and the pictures clearly show that it's broken - I would go ahead and give a full refund.. I know that some wouldn't - because he didn't purchase insurance - but keeping your customers happy will go a long way in increasing your sales..

Was he given the option of insurance? Was the item a very high bid?
If he specifically declined insurance I would say sorry and send him a copy of his email declining. If not and you are not taking a big hit I would refund item but not postage. If you are gonna take a bit money hit I would offer a partial refund. Anyway you do this you may risk a negative.

I now build insurance on any figurines ro plates or highly breakables into my S&H costs. I make it clear in my auction that is the case, gives them no chance to decline.

I had the same trouble with 'watchers" yesterday now they are back.

No, its the beta issue - - Ebay is still working out the bugs.

I'd refund. If it was lost in the mail, I'd say.."sorry, you should have gotten insurance..it would have protected you". But if an item breaks, I would assume I didn't pack it good enough and give back the whole amount, shipping included.

Hello! I don't Ebay but I wanted to metion something for those of you who do. :teeth:

I found what I think is a good source of boxes and bubble wrap. The website is www.uline.com. I was looking for Chinese take out boxes for VBS at church and ordered from this site. They included a catalog w/ my order. If you do a lot of shipping, this might be a good source for you. The bubble wrap especially sounded like a good price, comparing it to what I paid at OfficeMax one time for a small roll. They also have all kinds of boxes that sound like reasonable prices, too.

HTH someone!

Thanks for all the advice. ::yes:: I went back and checked the auction and forgot this was a lot of 4 items. The total auction was only $15.00 so I offered him $4.00 as a partial refund as the other 3 figurines were fine. Haven't heard back from him but hope that he will consider that a good resolution. If not I will offer him more I guess. I would think only a partial refund is in order as the other items are fine. Would you ebayers agree?

Would you ebayers agree?

Yes, sounds fair.

As for bubble wrap, I get mine locally froma supply store. I did find it very cheaply on line..under $10 a roll, for what I use..however, the shipping was $180 for the 4 rolls LOL!

Do your Ebay sales drop in the summer?

This was actually posted by itself..but rather than agravate anyone by the multiple of eBay postings, and to make it easier on myself when finding eBay messages, I decided to answer it on this thread. Hope the OP is ok with that.

Items that I sell specifically for gifts do much better Oct - Feb (although this year they went through April..first time for that). Antiques, collectibles and items that people use for everyday, seem to sell no matter when I put them up. I think it just depends on what you are selling.

Thanks for the reply! However, I think it's impossible to avoid aggravating people who are DETERMINED to be aggravated about something. (Darn, I just HATE all those stroller-swap threads at the top of the Budget board! Wish somebody would consolidate them all.:p Just kidding!)

When I first started selling on Ebay, sales crashed the week before Christmas and stayed low for about 2 weeks, then jumped back up. The following year, my sales stayed strong during the same time period. So I know the market can change from year to year.

For the 2 years following 9/11, my sales really tanked at Ebay (one thing that motivated me to start selling at Amazon). Sales have been good in 2004, though.

My books seemed to get a lot less hits during the summers past--I think everybody is outdoors having a good time rather than indoors reading collectible books! I guess I should try out a few auctions this summer and just see what happens.

Okay guys in trying to avoid annoying certain people, lol. What do I as the seller do in this situation?

I sold an item back in late March. Buyer paid and I mailed via DC. My po does not scan pre-paid packages in at this end. The track and confirm at the usps.com site still gives the message "the shipper was notified electronically to expect this package for mailing...." So somehow it has gotten lost in the mail. What now? I realize I'm covered by paypal's thing since I sent dc but that isn't going to matter to the buyer. Insurance was optional and he opted not. (As an aside, I always advise buyers to purchase insurance and not one to date has taken it!) Is there something the po can do to try to find this package? Would you refund the guy's money?

Bring your receipt with the DC number into the post office. They seem to have better luck in tracking, than we do on line. Since it's over 30 days, they'll put a tracer on it (which means diddly) and it may show up in a corner somewhere with an incorrect addy, or smeared or ripped tag.

Other than that, you have two choices. Give them back their money and hope to avoid a neg, or tell them..sorry, you denied insurance, I sent it, here is the DC. I'm not sure how Paypal handles DC's with no tracking info on them..I thought they had to be trackable, and your's doesn't sound like it is : (

Good luck..I've been in this spot.

go to your local P.O. and ask to fill out form PS-1510. (hey, not all of us postal workers are incompetant ;) )

anyone else with postal questions, feel free to ask me here or email me!

sorry forgot to introduce myself lol long time lurker new poster ;) just getting into ebay myself!

As a seller, I have a question - well, a series of questions.
1) If I put insurance on a package, does Delivery Confirmation offer any additional protection in any way? If the package doesn't get there, will insurance reimburse?
2) Is delivery confirmation the only thing that protects against a paypal chargeback? Or does purchasing insurance also protect against that?
Thanks!
