YOLO Part Cruise: Land, Sea and Halloween! Updatedx2 4/27 TRIP VIDEO

i agree that boat ride from mgm to epcot takes at least 2 hours. well maybe not, but it seems like it does. i believe i could walk it almost as quick. although the better half wouldn't hear of walking that far. good for buying that Norway shirt. i have yet to purchase one yet. i guess the ancestors ought to disinherit me. although i have bought two Helly Hanson shirts in years past. have the YOLO bunch ordered the kitchen sink at beaches and cream? we're going to take the grandkids and have a go at it. that moose story reminded me of a guy i used to work with. he never missed work but one night he didn't come in. he had hit a horse on his way in to work. the horse was ok, but the same couldn't be said for his truck. he had to get a new one. anyway, thanks for the tip about where to see them ghosts. i'll be looking for them.

I will definitely keep an eye out for the ghosts and the mac & cheese hot dog.

Also, do you have a specific site or something for ordering Toms? Lol. I definitely just remembered I was planning on asking you about them before May’s trip lol!

YC is so gorgeous! I adore that area so much, it’s so pretty and fantastic!!

He hit a moose and SURVIVED?? Seriously, in Canada if you hit a moose, you’re lucky if you have a head, much less the top of your car afterwards…scary stuff!!

Also hold on one sec…did you go to norway and NOT get school bread, or did I totally miss that part...

I don't have a site but you can put in an order/ask questions and get info by emailing me at disneytoms@yahoo.com
He hit a moose and survived! I can't even imagine
I did not get a school bread  We had a dinner reservation to get too.

I just totally finally caught back up on this TR!

First, thank you SO much for sharing your cruise in so much detail! I've never been on a cruise so I was always just kinda like well a Disney cruise could be fun maybe. But now I know that this needs to be a reality!

Is the fish extender thing like a Disboards thing or is a DCL thing?

Second, I really loved your trip video! It was so much fun &you did a great job putting it together! &my older sister was with me when I played it and she's developmentally disabled and she thinks it's the greatest thing ever so we've already seen it 3 times! :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip & MNSSHP! I've seen the pictures and you guys looked amazing!

Thank you for taking the time to read all about the cruise! I had the same reaction to a disney cruise but now I know why people go on them all the time.

Fish extender gift exchange is a disboards thing. So if you plan on doing a cruise any time in the future and are interested in doing the FE make sure to head over to the cruise line thread here on the Dis. There you can find your cruise meet thread and hopefully someone is willing to take charge of the FE exchange.

Oh my gosh that is the sweetest thing ever. Thank you so much!

It does take sometime but it can also be a nice ride when you just want to get off your feet. I was glad with my purchase and now I have 2 shirts in my collection. We have never had the kitchen sink. I hope you enjoy it! It sounds like a delicious treat.

Fort Wilderness A Great Place To Get Lost
While we were park hopping from Hollywood Studios to Epcot the rest of the Fam headed down to DTD for some lunch. Which I’m going to assume they went to WPE because Ma and Pa love the bacon wrapped meatloaf there.

This is literally the only photo of their adventure downtown

Once we made it back to Bobcat bend everyone was waiting outside and was ready for some grub.

Poor Danielle had post cruise sickness. The case of the sea legs got me at times throughout the stay at WDW, I could have sworn I could feel the rocking of the ship on land….

Everyone headed to the bus stop but we lost Brittany who was still in the cabin. She came out and we ran across the street because our bus was waiting for us.
We got dropped off at the settlement and made the short trek to Trails End.

We all were sad that we weren’t dining at Hoop Dee Doo but Trails End was a nice change. While choosing meals for this trip Gma was pretty excited to eat here after I read her the menu of all the good fixins they offer.
This was most of ours first time here for dinner. Back in 2011 we ate her for lunch which is not a buffet like dinner.

We checked in and played the waiting game

We split up in groups of 5 because just like at garden grill we aint feeling like gratuity.
Trails End is probably one of my new favorite restaurants. It’s just delicious…mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn bread and chili, you really can’t beat it!

For dessert they had cobblers and the best thing was a sundae bar with some gummy bears

I was filled to the brim and ate less then I wanted too.
So much good food not enough stomach space, what a sad life.

Reindeer(s) are better than people Sven don’t you think Kiss is right?!

Once we all finished up we didn’t have anything planned for the night so we decided to browse in the trading post

Fort Wilderness – A great place to get lost!
That statement is 100% true. It brings be back to the time I got lost back in Januaray in the dark on the way to the campfire. :rotfl:

They had pop up chairs for sale and two were on display. Brittnay decided to test it out when I told her that there was a sign that says “Do Not Sit” She jumped right off and I just laughed because there wasn’t a sign.

Somewhere during this time we migrated outside.
Alicia purchased and smushed herself a meeko penny

While Kiss and Andy enjoyed a nice friendly game of checkers.

With the sun already down from the sky we decided it was time to leave the trading post

on our way back to the bus stop we found ourselves shaking our tale feathers and almost getting run over by a golf cart. Brittany said sorry to them and that we were just shaking our tale feathers…they didn’t seem to care.
We entertained ourselves back to the bus stop by having Alicia name out dance steps and Brittany and I performed them for the other lucky Disney guests.

Romping Around DTD and FW

We decided that since it was still early in the night that we would take a trip to DTD. So Alicia, Andy, Kiss, Brittany and I hoped on a bus. We heard “Welcome a guest by wishing them a happy birthday” the bus driver apologized because she was just goofing around to keep herself entertained. She then began to tell us and a couple other guests the best places to watch the fireworks if you are not in a park.

DTD here we come!

On our way to DTD we discussed hunger games and about Catching Fire coming out in theaters (Which was so good! A lot better than the first movie)
When we arrived the first place we went was

Because Brittany had to get her ornaments for her mother.
After browsing the shop over and over again she finally made her choices. She got a Jack skellington one for the Halloween theme and a Mary Poppins for our Poppins cruise.

Alicia admired the jasmine ears

while I admired my girl Tiana

After purchasing her mothers gift we headed to Goofy’s to create a million calorie snack. Andy got his sugar cookie he always gets. Brittany wanted a cake pop, but she left for some reason and I ended up choosing a sprinkle red velvet one for her.

Alicia, Kiss and I created our own rice crispy treats.
DELICIOUS

I got M&Ms, Alicia got sprinkles and Kiss got reese pieces

While we waited to check out Brittany and I (being the math majors we are) took time to solve Goofy’s equation

Just kidding I don’t have any time for math anymore.
With treats in hand we headed to the bus stop and back to Fort Wilderness but not before we took a picture with our bags of goodies

The bus ride back to Fort Wilderness was filled with tapping and our Darren impressions. This marks the beginning of Disney cruise depression. Once we arrived to the fort we hopped on an orange bus to take us to the meadows trading post so we could get our refillable mugs.

It was dead in this trading post, so we browsed the store before getting our mugs. Andy and Kiss had a pool noodle fight while I was enjoying reading the Chap Stick that they sold.

Moose spit – there is no actual moose spit in this balm

Beaver butt – the is no dam beaver in this balm

We got our mugs and took a walk to the pool where we learned that the pop station closes at 6pm. Basically I never used my mug here.
After being disappointed we took a nice walk back to the cabin not even leaving the meadows Alicia got a pain in her stomach and was pretty much dying. Brittany and I however were unaware and ended up hiding behind a fence to scare them because we thought they were just being slow.

Everything was alright and we walked back to our cabin while Hallowishes was going off. My excitement level soared because I love Hallowishes and I would be seeing it tomorrow night. As we walked along the dimly lit walkways we got back on the topic of the hunger games and how we could play it in the woods of Fort Wilderness.

We finally made it back to our cabin when we were welcomed by a creepy blowup that our neighbors set up

Creepy! He was leading us home.
When we arrived Gma was already in bed watching some football. Andy and Brittany turned football on in our room while we all unpacked our costumes for MNSSHP. Andy decided to try his on and all us girls costumes were a bit wrinkled from being in a suitcase the whole time so we tried to take hot showers and hoped the steam would help.

While Andy and Brittany were watching the game I took the time to upload my photos and videos.
My shirt I purchased on the dream…our ship has character

Then Brittany and mine matching norge shirts. Brittany got the short sleeve and I got the long sleeved shirt

After taking photos of our new shirts I soon noticed a nice yellow stain on the top bunk :crazy2:…real classy Disney….I ended up taking a towel and sleeping on that. So it pretty much looked like I wet the bed when mousekeeping came the following day.

We all got in bed and watched the football game till we fell asleep.
Tomorrow was the night I have been waiting for!

Speaking of Trails End brings back another wonderful memory. I'm full of them. Well i'm full of something. We were staying at what was then The Disney Institute with our best friends the Goodwins? After afull day at the Magic Kingdom, we haded to Trails end for some supper. We caught the boat in a monsoon. We were soaked to the bone upon our arrival for our meal. We were seated right at the entrance. This kid comes running in ahead of his family and he has a blowout on his right front foot and he literally kisses the floor of Trails End. Well me and Goodwin are easily entertained so we bust out laughing much to our wives embarrassment as little Jimmy's? mama yanks him up by his arm and blesses him out, all because he planted a wet kiss on the floor. What can I say, we like cheap entertainment. Speaking of cheap entertainment, it appears you like it too. Playing that trick on poor unsuspecting Brittany. Trails End does indeed have some good eatin'. I like the chili and chicken legs and mac & cheese, etc. I'm trying to talk the others into eating a meal there. I remember the old Fort Wilderness logo with Mickey holding his peacemaker. But I guess the wilderness was tamed without the use of firearms. History has sure changed since I was in school. You're gonna have to get away from Fort Wilderness and get to a park. With all of my memories, I'm hijacking your trip report. Sorry. I'll rein it in next time. But I am enjoying your trip there as it has been a few years since we stayed there.

On our last two trips, we've had a different Mimi Kaboom than the original one we saw on our Disneymoon. I'm starting to like her even though at first I was so used to ours. It was just so hysterical how everything she said was about having children because we had just gotten married a few days earlier! Also after watching the Citizens of Hollywood a few more times since then, you know from my Instagram too that Paige Turner definitely beats any other character in my book! Her jokes are hysterical and she seems so awesome at improv! Do you know if there's anyone else that plays that role too? I've only seen that particular one. You know what's funny? Howard actually wanted to choose Paige as his bachelorette! He also said that he wasn't sure if Betty Shambles was a man when he heard her, haha. I personally liked Betty because her dorkiness and awkwardness reminded me a bit more of me whereas Paige is just super confident!

Haha, dirty amoeba water sounds so disgusting! Once you've seen Bahamas water, I think you're going to be forever spoiled by it! I think all other beaches will be compared to the gorgeous water you saw there.

Whoa, hitting a moose?! I'd be terrified at the size! I imagine the huge moose head that they have hanging on the walls like at the Texas Roadhouse restaurants and can't imagine an animal that humongous. I just saw Katt's comment too, and that's what I would think would happen. What a scary experience to endure, but what a story to tell!

Ooo, post cruise sickness? I didn't even think about that. Any time I start commuting on the ferry in NYC for a long period of time, it takes a while to get adjusted to it as I feel as if I'm on the boat even at home. One would HOPE that because the cruise ship is so big and that you're sailing in calmer waters compared to potentially choppy waters in the Hudson River that it wouldn't be so bad, but after reading about Kiss being sick on the cruise and Danielle feeling it afterwards, I'm kind of discouraged on ever cruising. Maybe you and the YOLO crew just need to go on a cruise again so that you can write a TR and do another video just so I can live vicariously through you guys. Sound good?

YUMMMMMMMM to the food offered at Trails End! I am so enticed by what they have there and am even willing to deal with the transportation to get there, but I recall seeing a big stuffed bear there along with TONS of animal heads?

Trails end looks like it was super tasty!! I'll definitely have to look into that for future trips!!

Yay for mnsshp coming up!! SO EXCITED to read all about it!!

I can't wait to read about your MNSSHP! I am a little obsessed with that party. And let me just tell you in advance, you guys had AWESOME costumes! I remember seeing them on Instagram. You looked great! I hope your party was everything you hoped for! :hmghost:

Oh my gosh children can be so precious and weird at the same time. I love it! The food was so good, I'm really glad that we tried the dinner buffet. It's so underrated. I love the old logo as well. It just seemed to fit the theme but it is giving children now a days the wrong message.

I understand completely. No one will ever beat my Mimi Kaboom but I can start to appreciate the other ones. Yes and I was commented on your photos because she is my favorite as well! I believe there is only one paige turner, if she ever leaves I will be heartbroken. I agree Betty was funny because she was that awkward person, I have never actually seen her in person though.
I could not even imagine, he was just like yeah I hit a moose. It was random but it sounded like he was alright after the crash.
I'm so glad I didn't get any sea sickness, I just had the sea legs on land a couple times. But I will definitely take another disney cruise so you can live vicariously through the TR and video. I'll just go book one now because I miss the Dream so much.
It is worth the transportation, it was all so good and filling. Plus is was a lot of my favorite types of food so how could you go wrong with it?! They do have a huge stuff bear near the bar area. There was a deer above us, so there are critters around to set the mood.

EWWW!!! to yellow stains!

Yeah real gross! Change your sheets Disney!

I AM OBSESSED WITH THE PARTY AS WELL! It is literally the best thing, I love being able to dress up, trick or treat and just the music to everything. Thank you so much! I wish I could wear my dress everyday of my life.

Wild Best Friend Day At Animal Kingdom

It was our last full day of our trip and we had no time to waste! We woke up around 8 and got ready for the day. We decided we would go to a park in the morning before our lunch reservation. Alicia and Andy were indecisive and couldn’t come to an agreement to go or not.

They ended up not coming, so it was a Brittany and Sam best friend day at Animal Kingdom. We hopped on a bus to take us to another bus. Before we left FW the bus driver stood up and told us that there was something happening with the bus loops at AK so he had to drop us off in the parking lot.

The ride around the AK parking lot was horrible the cars plus resort busses trying to get to the same stop took forever. We however got dropped off and our bus driver said thanks for coming with me on this 3 hour tour. Once in AK we found out that Dinosaur was not yet opened so we headed to the back of the park to visit a special yeti.

We were glad to see that the wait time was only 5 minutes

Of course we had a great expedition and the group behind of seemed to enjoy it with all there cheering and laughing

After Everest we headed over to Camp Minnie and Mickey for the last time ever.

Festival of the Lion King was calling us so that is exactly what we did.
We found some seats in the lion section and waited for the show to start.

Hey Pumba, Timon am I in the right section?
Yep it’s the lion section alright!

Lets hear it for the TUMBLE MONKEYS

In the circle, the circle of life

From Camp Minnie and Mickey we walked over to Dinosaur.

While we were in the line after the preshow 2 girls stopped us and asked where we got our shoes. We were then spilt up from them to get into our row for our time machine. Then we found out that we would be sitting with each other.

We started talking some more, they asked if we were CPs. Then they discussed why we should do it. One girl worked in merchandise on her DCP and is now working at Coronado. The other girl worked in Quick Service food and beverage on her DCP.

Our adventure back in time was a strange one. First of all the huge dino was not lit up at the end and there was a tiny dinosaur on our left for the photo. It was just odd, I’m thinking they were having troubles with the Dinosaur in the morning and just decided to not use him.

I was just completed unimpressed from what was going on around me I guess.
After being a little disappointed with dinosaur we walked back to Everest for one more ride before we had to leave.
It was a 15 minute wait which was more like walk through the entire queue and you will walk right on.

We’re coming for you Sassy Yeti

We had some Sassy Yetis in the back of our car

After Everest we took a nice stroll to the front of the park.

Goodbye Animal Kingdom it has been a nice start to our day

don't you just love best friends? they share some of the best times in your life and are there in the not so good times. i love you Goodwin? i had a 5 minute wait at Everest in September, but didn't ride. my wife nor her best friend will ride it and i didn't get in the single rider line. i figured i might get some party pooper like that girl in the front row of dinosaur in your photo. wait a minute that was you wasn't it? oh me. it appears your enthusiasm was at work on the back row. so sad about FOLK. it will be closed while we are there. what's a trip to Asia without planking a motorized tricycle? thanks for ending that segment on a good note. which begs the question. will there be planking in the afterlife?

I saw you guys at AK this day!! I'm mostly a lurker on here and also pretty shy so I didn't say hello but it was pretty cool. :) My husband found it very amusing and odd that I would recognize people I had never met at Disney World, lol. That's the Dis for ya though!

Yay for a best friends day at AK!! And yeti time, the best way to start a day!

UGH! The “camp Minnie mickey for the last time in forever” bit seriously just made me tear up! UGH, miss it so much! Ahahaha never noticed the “sassy yeti” bit before, and I love the photo you got!

Also…when are you guys planning on going down again next?? I feel like I heard something about May? :confused3

They're the best! haha that was me, unimpressed. It's more like it was pitch black and the lack of anything to see or scare me was unimpressive. I also feel your pain about FotLk not being open. What is a trip to the AK without watching it?!

What a small world! You should have come up and said hello! But I totally understand because I think I would react the same way you did if I was in the same position.

I sometimes wish I would go through the Everest line when there was a longer wait just so I could actually look at everything in line. They put so much detail into it.

Brittany and myself are going down May 19-28th for a graduation trip. Alicia and Andy will be joining us since they will both be living there at the time. We are pretty excited for the 24 Hour event!!!!

Morning At Fort Wilderness

While Brittany and I enjoyed Animal Kingdom the family took the day to enjoy Fort Wilderness. First Alicia and Andy rented a golf cart to get around the resort for the day.

They all loaded onto the cart while Kiss drove Gma’s scooter to the settlement.

They had a nice little breakfast at Crockett's Tavern and ate it outside.

After breakfast they decided to check out what was left of River Country. After our trip in March we talked so much about River Country and how you could just go down to the fence and see it sitting there rotting away.

I wish these slides were still open. I guess I am unaware why they closed the pool part of River Country since it was just a regular pool and not amoeba water.

It’s sad that Disney is just letting poor old River Country rot away to nothing and not even bother to clean it up.

With one last look at River Country they headed to the meadows swimming pool where they hung out for the rest of the morning before lunch.

First thing on this list to do was to try out the slide

They relaxed and enjoyed the refreshing pool before they had to head back to the cabin

They all hopped onto the golf cart and made their way back to Bobcat Bend

Once arriving back to the cabins they got ready for our lunch reservations and caught back up with Danielle and Adam who did the segway tour around FW.
They took a couple trips on the golf cart to get everyone to the bus stop. Once there they played the waiting game

Since we were having lunch at a resort they had to catch a bus to a park then too the resort. So animal kingdom they went!
When they arrived at AK they walked the bus loops in search of the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus stop and once again waited for another bus

AHHHH!! WE’LL ALL BE AT THE 24HR EVENT!!! AHHHHHHH SO SERIOUSLY EXCITED I really do hope we can meet up at some point!! I’ve met Alicia when she was hanging with Jas but it’d be wonderful to get to meet everyone!!

Looks like the fam had a pretty good morning, this is why I would like FW, it’ just looks so relaxing and awesome to just chill outside in nature instead of right beside a giant pool of screaming kids bahaha!

I wish they still had RC working! Those slides look wicked!!

Awe man, what a morning of bus trips!! I’m excited to read about lunch too! YUM!

our last time staying at Fort Wilderness we rented a golf cart for the week. it really was a nice way to get around the resort. i have a glass boot that i got a drink in at Crockett's Tavern somewhere in my stash of Disney momentos. if i remember correctly we drove the golf cart down to the tavern and got fried chicken. mighty fine eatin'. it's a shame to see River Country like that. that's one of my regrets; not going to River Country when i had the chance. i just assumed it would always be there. as much as i like the Winnie the Pooh ride, i still wish they had Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. oh well i'll always have those memories. let's go to lunch, shall we?

Oh yes we will definitely run into each other at some point of our trips!
Yes I need to stay there for a long amount of time so I can just take in everything the resort has to offer.

They only got it for the one day since it was our last full day but it was so nice to have it! I wish I went to river country but I was so young when we stayed at FW and by that time the family enjoyed more of swimming in clean water. Mr toad is another ride that I don't remember.

Exploring The Animal Kingdom Lodge

Animal Kingdom became a sauna on our walk to the bus stop.

We were ready for food, we were too poor to buy breakfast and never grabbed a snack in the park. Post cruise depression…WHERE IS ALL THE FREE FOOD?! The Disney Dining Plan isn’t enough food for me!

A bus finally came for us and on our short ride to AKL a mom and daughter asked if we purchased our shoes in Disney because she would love to get a pair for her daughter. She was shocked when I told her I made them.

This was our first time ever being at AKL so we had no clue what stop we had to get off at. So with the short ride across the street from Ak to AKL I was searching on my phone. Kidani Village we went!

The rest of our group wasn’t there yet so we decided to look around and explore.

Brittany was literally in all her glory. AKL is her dream resort so the fact that we actually took the opportunity to check it out made her very happy.

Today we would be eating lunch at Sanaa and I was so excited! I have been dying to try the butter chicken.

We still had time before our reservations so we decided to go outside and see the animals.
