This is our second trip to Teppan Edo. We dined here two years ago and was one of the funnest places we went to. My girls have been talking about ever since and when asked what restaurants they wanted to do this year this was always top of the list. It is not about the food so much but the entertainment of someone cooking in front of us. The food is good and we again had a delightful meal. We were taken to the very back portion of the restaurant not associated with the main dining area. It was a small to counter setup which made it very cosy or isolated, not sure which. Anyway there was a huge stainless steel fan over the cooking area so using my flash was out this night. I had to shoot with available light. Since the meal is served in stages and not all at once I don’t have pictures of any ones plate but more of the cooking process. That is what this was about anyway.
This was our cook for the evening. I thought I had a photo of his name tag but I can’t read it.
DD10 ordered the Wafu Ribs - sake, soy and ginger braised pork ribs which had to be cooked by the chef. They were very tasty.
The rest of us ordered tempura and obviously ate so fast that I did not get a shot of it. I love good tempura.
Next our sauces were prepared. Was the brown for meat and the white one for fish? They all tasted great with anything I tried.
First to be prepared was the mushrooms. The other family we were sitting with did not eat mushrooms so that meant more for us.
Next came the preparation of the onions for the famous volcano.
The oil or water were added to the middle.
And it was time for the show.
Next it was time for the steaks. We ordered Fillets on the right, while the other family got top sirloins on the left.
Next my DW had ordered chicken and shrimp.
Final seasoning was added.
Then it was time to eat.
Time for dessert. Choices are limited here and we had tried the green tea custard last time. Our obvious choice was the Ginger Chocolate cake. Interesting flavor combination but it worked.
