I am also curious what is so Bizarre?

.

The wife was killed Saturday, benoit died Monday...I think it's pretty bizarre to stay in the house with your dead wife, whom you murdered for 2 days. I think it's bizarre that it seems like the son was alive for a full day after his mother was killed, and in the same house with her the whole time..I also heard a report that he watched the PPV event with his son on Sunday night and that's when he made text messages, then he killed the son.
Sitting there watching a pay per view event with the son your about to murder and the body of the wife you already murdered lying in another room is pretty sick and bizarre to me.

I read another report that the weapon was found in the home which made them suspect that it was a Murder/suicide.((which would point to it not being strangelation))

Rest in Peace Daniel, and Nacy, and may you be forgiven Benoit for what you have allegedly done.

Maybe it was whatever he used to smother the child.

I can't believe I'm even typing that...

Yep, I totally agree. There's definitely a bizarre quality to the whole timing of the events. It might not be the actual murders that were bizarre, but the timing in which they occured.

The Atlanta news stations are reporting he strangled his wife, smothered his child and then hung himself. What a vile human to harm his own innocent child.

There is very little conclusive regarding the death of Chris Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel.

The three were found dead by the sheriff's department in Peachtree City, GA, at about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon after a WWE official had called because they had been unable to reach Chris after numerous attempts.

Lt. Tommy Pope told the Associated Press that it was being investigated as a homicide pending results of a preliminary autopsy report that will come out tomorrow. No gunshot or stab wounds were found, but they couldn't rule out poisoning, suffocation or strangulation. Pope said he was not confirming any of these potential causes, just not ruling them out.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported it is being investigated as a murder/suicide.

WWE canceled its sold out live show in Corpus Christi, TX, and instead produced a three-hour show of clips from Benoit matches, the DVD on his career with comments by many of the top stars.

I have read other reports that he rushed home saturday night when Nancy called him because her and Daniel where throwing up blood.

As I have been thinking more today, I have realized that Benoit has not looked "right" reciently he looked warn out and not there. When watching Benoit of the past he always had this look and feel about him but over the past few months watching him in ring his eyes looked empty. Something was up.

I tend to lean torward the fact that it is the murder/suicide, but am still hopeing it is not. It is a sad thing, but will not make me Dislike his old matches. I didn't know him personally and therefore can not comment on the kind of man he was. I can tell you that I always enjoyed watching him in the ring and think he wrestled with more passion then 90% of the other wrestlers out there. As an Entertainer I will remember him fondly, as a fellow human if true I will always look down apon him and wonder just what happened to make him do something so horrendous.

He had a history of abuse:

Superstar wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room, according to a law enforcement source quoted by the Associated Press.

The couple and their 7-year-old son were found dead Monday in their home on Green Meadow Lane just east of Peachtree City.Nancy Benoit and her son, Daniel, were killed during the weekend and Benoit died Monday, police said.

Benoit and his wife went through a period of turbulence early in their marriage that included her claiming domestic abuse and filing for divorce, court records show.

The couple, who had lived together since 1997 and were married in 2000, had separated when Nancy Benoit, a wrestling manager who worked under the stage name "Woman," filed for divorce in May 2003.

In the accompanying petition for protection from domestic abuse, Nancy Benoit, 43, claimed she was intimidated by threats of violence from her 40-year-old, 5-foot-10, 220-pound husband, who was known as the "Canadian Crippler."

Benoit, the petition said, "lost his temper and threatened to strike the petitioner and cause extensive damage to the home and personal belongings of the parties, including furniture and furnishings. Petitioner is in reasonable fear for petitioner's own safety and that of the minor child."

In another count, she claimed Benoit had destroyed furniture in the home.

On May 12, 2003, the same day the divorce and protective order petitions were submitted, a judge issued a restraining order against the wrestler and barred him from the family home in Peachtree City.

On Aug. 19, 2003, Nancy Benoit filed to have the divorce and protective petitions dismissed, and both were.

Police on Tuesday said no gun was used in the killings, but they have declined to say how the three died. Autopsies were scheduled for Tuesday at the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur.

"The details, when they come out, are going to prove a little bizarre," Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said Tuesday.

Police also revealed Tuesday that a text message was sent from Chris Benoit's cellphone.

Fayette Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope said the message was sent at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, but he decline to disclose the message's content or recipient.

Benoit's employer, World Wrestling Entertainment, said on its Website Tuesday that Benoit had sent

"several curious text messages" to friends, but police on Tuesday said they had identified only the one.

Authorities initially had trouble getting to the home because of two large German shepherds on the property, the WWE said. Sheriff's deputies were standing guard at the home on Tuesday morning, keeping back the media and the curious.

Benoit was found in the home's weight room, his wife in an office and his son in an upstairs bedroom.

Benoit failed to appear at Saturday's live wrestling event in Beaumont, Texas., and at WWE's "Vengeance: Night of Champions" in Houston Sunday night. WWE said Benoit had a "family emergency."

As news of the death's spread, the wrestling blogosphere erupted in disbelief.

"Obviously, all sorts of speculation are running rampant but I have talked to so many people and nobody really knows," said Bryan Alvarez, who runs Figurefour Weekly, a wrestling newsletter and Web site, from Linwood, Wash.

The WWE issued a statement Monday night:

"Chris was beloved among his fellow Superstars, and was a favorite among WWE fans for his unbelievable athleticism and wrestling ability. He always took great pride in his performance, and always showed respect for the business he loved, for his peers and towards his fans. This is a terrible tragedy and an unbearable loss. WWE extends its sincere condolences and prayers to the Benoit family and loved ones in this time of tragedy."

A native of Canada, Benoit maintained a residence in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the now-defunct Ted Turner-owned World Championship Wrestling organization.

He began his career in Calgary more than 20 years ago and had wrestled in Japan before moving back to North America.

While working in Atlanta with WCW, he met his wife, Nancy, who managed several wrestlers and went by the stage name, "Woman."

At the time, her then-husband drew up a script that had the couple involved in a relationship as part of an ongoing storyline.

Soon after, the two became romantically involved in real life and married. Benoit has two other children from a prior relationship.

He joined WWE in 2000, and four years later, won its world heavyweight championship.

The family had moved into the Fayetteville neighborhood last summer, said neighbor Alaina Jones.

None of the neighbors recalled seeing police at the house before. Monday night, about half a dozen cars idled on the circular driveway. Deputies stood guard outside the wrought-iron gates of the residence. A car full of youngsters who stopped to gawk at the scene were pulled out by deputies, frisked and sent on their way.

The Monday night broadcast of WWE's "Raw" on the USA Network was supposed to have been a who-dunit into the "death" of Chairman Vince McMahon, whose limousine burst into a fiery explosion moments after he stepped into it after a bout in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., two weeks ago.

The organization scrapped the storyline following Benoit's death, and instead televised a three-hour retrospective on Benoit's career.

Staff writer Saeed Ahmed and the Associated Press contributed to this report.

I think it is also pretty vile to kill your wife.

WWE has quickly washed there hands of him. They actually started removing the tribute videos late last night. They even had an autographed action figure still up that was going for 30 early that afternoon and had jumped to over $400 on the early news.

As someone else mentioned it's ALL gone now.

I think as I had stated earlier it will be revealed that steroids played a big part in this story.

I was just about to post the info about the divorce/restraining order.
Yet more info...
The Fayetteville police department are advising media outlets that a press conference in regard to the Benoit family tragedy and preliminary autospy results of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their son Daniel is slated for this afternoon. One source expects the conference to take place at 3 PM, although it may be sooner.

A number of cable news outlets including MSNBC and CNN are covering the story and have noted the upcoming announcement.

The Associated Press is reporting that Chris Benoit is believed to have strangled his wife Nancy and smothered his son Daniel before hanging himself, citing a source close to the investigation.

Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told The Associates Press that they are investigating what role, if any, steroids may have played in the incident

If he was taking((never heard that he was)) he was doing so under the radar as teh WWe has been Fireing and suspending wretlers that have been taking. They have been randomly testing at shows and takign action against those that have been useing.

Wonder if CNN will have it on tv.

well this has turned out badly. I was really hoping for something more innocent.

Terrible tragedy.

It's shame that is the cause of death. Very dad for everyone. :sad2:

But c'mon on. At the time of the show they didn't know how they died.
There was no blood or guns which is usually the case for suicide.
They had to do that tribute for him.n If they died of carbon monoxide poisining the WWE would have been critized for carrying on with the show.

Monday Night Raw is a live show they had to decide right away.

IMO they could have waited till further details had come in, but Vince chose to capitalize on the situation. Eddie Guererros Tribute show was one of the highest rated shows, and Vince figured this would be as well.

In other words.NO they did not "have to" do a tribute show, They "chose" to.

I stand by my thoughts that whether or not he did do this, it doesn't invalidate the amazing career that he had. But my opinion is my own, and I have always been a Chris Benoit fan.
Yes and OJ had a great football career...

I still stand by the WWE had to make a last minute decision and they did what they thought was best at the time. They aren't perfect, no one is and they made a mistake, show me someone who hasn't. I guess I don't see the good blasting the company is doing for anyone. They made a mistake, Period, move on.

The main point is what could make a person who had a fabulous career as a wrestler, who was obviously loved by alot of people in both real life and onscreen snap and kill his family. Was it steroids? Was he crazy? What happened and what can be done to prevent it from happening again?

I guess it just annoys me when I see people online start debating on something that really doesn't matter in the end. We have people arguing over WWE's decision to show a tribute show. Why does that even matter? It doesn't. As I said they made a mistake, they obviously didn't know Chris did the crime or they wouldn't have done the tribute show, they aren't stupid!

Again my prayers to everyone involved and I hope they can find out why and do something to help someone else from doing this again.

All that matters is what they did in their sport, who cares how many persons they kill or not.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? Do you REALLY think ANYONE feels that way? Uggh just more of the same, lets fight and argue. Sometimes I hate the DIS. We are adults you know, we really aren't in Jr. High anymore.

Just agreeing with you.

All that matters is what they did in their sport, who cares how many persons they kill or not.
:thumbsup2

 :stir:

I never said that what he's suspected of doing was okay or :thumbsup2 . You are the one reading into that.

But it still doesn't make his career any less legendary. I can respect someone's career and the things they accomplished in the sport, music, acting... whatever... without respecting the person themselves. Which is basically what it's come down to for me. And you know what? That hurts, because I was a huge Benoit fan.

Please, as respectfully as I can ask you, don't twist my statements again.

In Jr. High I used to take comments out of context too...
