WWE wrestlet Chris Benoit found dead

They couldn't wait because it's a live show and they didn't have the information that he killed his family.

The story line for last night's show was the demise & death of Vince.
They could not have played that last night knowing one of their wrestlers died.

I agree with you here. Because if he didn't kill his family and they ran the fake death show than the fans would be up in arms about that happening.

They made a decision. Weather you agree with it or not they did what they felt was right at the time.

I don't watch wrestling so this may be a stupid question, but couldn't they have thrown on a rerun of a previously taped match, with a little announcement beforehand saying "due to the death of Chris Benoit our regularly scheduled match has been postponed"? If they had any inkling this guy killed a 7 year old child, they should not have given him any "tribute", regardless of his talent.

Well the whole "fake death" thing was stupid enough anyways...lol ;)

Most of the storylines are silly. That's why it's called entertainment.
Or soap operas for men :rotfl:
I know my daytime soap operas have the silllliest storylines at times, it's aggravating!

This is really sad. My DS has met Benoit a few times and keeps asking us if we know what happened yet. He was very friendly with fans and his friends thought he was a great guy. I keep hoping maybe theres some mistake in the rumor mill. It doesn't look like theres going to be though...:sad2:

WWE has had tributes for all wrestlers who have passed. The one for Eddie was very emotional. This one was not so much. Only a few personal statements from friends and clips of some of his old matches.

***WWE has done those tributes when a wrestler dies .

True.

***I'm not sure if they did it for Eddie Guerreo but they did it for Bret Hart.

They did have a tribute show to Eddie Gurerro (I have it on tape), and Bret Hart is still very much alive. It was Bret's younger brother Owen that died, and the WWE did a tribute show for him.

I find it ironic that Triple HHH found him a man of respect, yet obviously the coward had no respect for the American justice system.

Godspeed to his wife and child.

This just brings back memories of Phil Hartman's death. I miss him.

Ooops. Thank you for correcting me. :thumbsup2
That would have been karma for Bret.

Well considering that a wrestler died, from whatever cause, most of these guys are like family regargless of what the story line is, could you imagine a close friend dying and 2 hours later you have to go ahead and entertain thousands of people for 3 hours? Come on!

Exactly, they didn't have to do a tribute, they could have easily just rerun another show. No way a tribute show was easier to put together than just a rerun of a previous show.

They were probably just hoping to get some airtime out of it, and it backfired. We aren't the only one's talking about this either. I was listening to one of the local sports radio shows on my lunch break, and they also didn't understand why a tribute show was ran instead of just a rerun, especially considering the weirdness of the whole situation from the start.

I think they made a decision based on what little time they had. Whether it was the right or wrong decision I won't judge until I hear all the facts.

I used to love watching wrestling. Not so much anymore but I still respect what they do. It is entertainment and yes can be really silly at times but the silliness is what adds to the enjoyment for me. NO ONE actually believes that stuff! It's the way wrestling has always been.

I don't know what actually happened but my prayers to all the family, Benoit's other children, the family of the wife and of course Chris's WWE family.

Even if it turns out Chris did do this he still had friends who loved him and we don't need to critizize them for the awful things he may have done.

I loved wrestling when the great Andre the Giant ruled the ring, so yea, a long time ago...lol ;)

Yes they did have another show lined up. A 3 hour RAW with the storyline focus being "The Funeral of Mr. McMahon". Kinda tacky to do a storyline about a fake death when one of your top talents was found dead in his home just a few hours before air time.

WWE had to make a quick decision yesterday. Run a show about a fake death & have regularly scheduled matches or run a tribute to one of their better talents. I think they made the right choice.

IMO it is not an "all or nothing" decision, they could have EASILY taken out all of Vince's dead storyline and not have paid a 3 hour tribute to a murderer.

Paying tribute to a murderer would hardly be a low point in pro wrestling anymore. I wonder how many kids are allowed to watch their idea of "entertainment" these days.

I can't comment on the tribute... I am sure at the time they did what they felt was best.

However I found it interesting. My husband posts on some major WWE fan forums and supposedly there was a suicide note. Not sure how *anyone* would know this yet, but these guys are known for getting every single result of the fights correct all the time. So this is per them (no forum I can reference since we chatted over the phone).

Apparently in the suicide note, his wife smothered their child. In a fit of blind rage he strangled his wife. Dealt with the remorse of it all for the weekend and eventually hung himself.

Still a murder, but dang that would put a *very* bizarre twist on all this!!!

I doubt even the WWE has all the details, investigators are not on their payroll.

And early on that was one of the exact thoughts going through my head, but reports coming in now from the AP are saying that the it appears the wife was first to die and that the child was around for a while afterwards.

The reason I feel Vince should have known better is because they are the ones that called police, after Benoit had called in citing "family crisis" and those text messages were brought to their attention.

If in fact Chavo(or another wrestler) received a text saying "GOODBYE" or something to that effect, I can not buy the "at that time they did not know any better" excuse.

Not true he killed them both. Press conference on now, no suicide note found. He killed his wife first then son, then committed suicide. They said the wife was bound by her feet and wrists.

Fox news has the press conference live now.

My G-d... They said she was bound wih a towel wrapped around her and they both had bibles next to their bodies. This on the press conference

From press conference-

He murdered his wife Friday, bound her by the wrists and feet, wrapped her in a towel, she died from asphyxiation. Bible found next to her.

Made phone call to WWE and said he had a family emergency and canceled his appearance for Pay per view event. Claimed his son was coughing up blood.

Then sometime late Saturday/early Sunday he murdered his son, he also died from asphyxiation, he was found in his bedroom. Bible found next to him.

Then Sunday he sent out messages and then committed suicide. They said steroids were found at the scene.

Thanks for the comments from the press conference.

Still so sad and unnecessary! :sad2:

I pray that that child had no idea what happened to his mother or to him.
