WW Weekly Weigh-in

Good morning everyone!

I was hoping there was a WW thread on WISH. Let me do a short reintroduction of myself. I was a die hard low carber and lost about 110 pounds with a combo of Atkins and South Beach. I was not able to sustain that way of life and felt like such a failure, especially when I gained back half the weight. I have floundered for over a year trying to find the right program for me. After doing much research and the old "try it on my own" thing I decided I needed some guidelines and structure. On Sunday night, I joined WW on-line and this is day 4 for me. I love this program! It is so freeing not to have food restrictions. I thought I would do Core but it reminds me too much of lc so I picked flexed and could not be happier.

I hope you do not mind this former low carber turned WW convert joining the group. WISH was a big part of my success a few years ago. I want to get the 55 pounds off I gained plus reach my WW target goal, although I admit, at this point, I really don't see myself weighing 126 pounds when I weight 230.6 right now.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and I'm going to be doing a bit of backtracking and reading some of the thread to see what I have been missing.

:welcome: back to Wish and the WW weighin thread. As you know there are many inspiring and supportive people here. I have always done the flex plan to have more freedom with my food choices. The ww online program is great. I've lost 38 pounds with ww, and had been stalled for a while and have stopped the meetings and am using Wish as my support system now and doing ww on my own. I've been a yo-yo dieter my whole adult life, and am determined that this be the final time I lose this weight. I have about 20-30 more pounds to lose, and won't give up til it's gone. It helps to set short term goals and celebrate all the small victories, like 5 or 10 pounds at a time.
Good luck to you!!!! You can do it!!! :cheer2:

Hi Kathy,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I am really enjoying the program and am so happy with my progress thus far. I weighed this morning even though offiical WI day for me Saturday and I'm trilled with the results so far.

Do you use the etools feature on www.com or track everything yourself? I am thinking about buying the electronic points trakker and points calculator on the ww shop but am hesitating to spend $25. I might just get the $10 points calculator and the dining guide. What do you guys think?

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you and everyone else!

Lisa,
That's great the scales moving for you. I didn't use the e-tools for my points, because I wasn't on the computer during the day, so I kept the paper trackers I got at meetings in my pockets, and now I just write it down and keep a daily point total, (when I'm being good). I think the point tracker does sound like a good thing. I use the paper slider for calculating points that i got at meetings. I did like entering my weight online and seeing the graphs through the weeks, and I liked the recipes and success stories.
There is an awesome website, www.dwlz.com that has a huge restaurant list with points calculated for you. I think most every restaurant in the ww dining guide is on this website.
Good luck at weighin tomorrow.

:welcome: back and welcome to our WW thread. I remember following your progress a few years ago and I applaud you for coming back again, that is always a hard step. It sounds like you are enjoying your new program and that your first official weigh in will be a good one. The whole weight loss thing is about finding what works for you and fits into your lifestyle, so I hope you find the combination that will work best for your life.

I loved eTools when I had it, but as soon as I made lifetime with WW I lost the service. I liked being able to track my weight and see my progress. I also loved the recipe builder, I loved that I could add a favorite recipe and get the points value and also to use it to lighten up recipes. I never used it to journal, I alway used a paper journal (and still do).

I like the points calculator, but mine is just that, it doesn't do anything else. I keep that in my purse and my slide rule stays in my kitchen. I also love having a dining out guide, I keep one in the car for when the moment strikes and we want to go out to eat.

Do you attend meetings or are your doing WW online? Either way it is a great program and I have had success both ways. Good luck on your journey, I look forward to reading your posts.

Tiggerlover- That's awesome how you handled halloween. Congratulations!! You should be proud. I, on the other hand did just the opposite, and started eating candy on my way home from work when I got stuck in traffic, and continued while taking my son trick or treating. I'm glad today is over, and tomorrow is a new day and a new month, and I'm going to make it a good month and LOSE SOME WEIGHT!!! Before the challeng of the next holidays!!

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!!

 HI, Mik! Sorry to hear the candy got the best of you, sometimes that happens. Now that it is a new month it is time for another good start! I know the next few months are going to be a challenge for all of us, this is one of the hardest times of the year for me. We need to stick together, support one another and take it one day at a time.....WE CAN DO THIS, right?!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hello and happy weekend to all!

Mikamah, Kathinowa and Tiggerlover - Thanks so much for your praises!! I really appreciate your support and I credit my friends here for helping me make goal!!! :grouphug: You guys are the best!!

Halloween wasn't too bad for me...I walked 3 miles that morning and then at least another mile with my son for trick or treating...Yeah for APs!! That allowed me a few bites of chocolate...and a few other miscellaneous things I haven't eaten in a long time!

As far a maintenence goes...I am afraid to really add points yet. I really want to lose a few more pounds (I set my goal at the highest weight for my height) and then I'll see how it goes. I have to admit I am REALLY nervous about gaining weight back. So far I am still motivated..but I just wonder.. CAN I make this a "forever" change to my lifestyle? I sure hope so. It does scare me though.

Welcome Lisa! (Zeraspride) Like everyone else said, WW is a wonderful program!! I go to meetings and use some of the online tools. I love my meetings though!! Good luck to you and stay on this thread!! You can do it!!:goodvibes

Good evening everyone!

Just wanted to check in before I sign off the computer tonight. I like to journal a day ahead so I know exactly what I am supposed to eat. It helps when I see the big "o" on the tracker that lets me know I have no more points for the day. Mentally that zero stays in my head and keeps me from eating anything other than what I have already journaled. It may not stay this way but for now it keeps me on track.

I guess 7 days would be include Saturday so my official WI is Sunday so I will report my first week's loss then. Today was a rest day for me and I didn't exercise. I hate rest days. They make me feel lazy and out of my routine but I know I need at least one per week.

Kathy - a friend sent me the paper slide rule point thingy in an email the other day but I'm a true computer gal and usually spend time the night before tracking my food so the next day all I have to do is add the exercise and my water and stuff. I love the on-line system! I hope you have a great OP weekend!

tiggerlover - I remember you too! It was hard coming back and sort of starting over but I've been in denial for far too long. I truly believe WW is the answer I have been looking for. Although truth be told I know the answer really lies inside me but it's like this program gives me the structure I need. I like how someone put it when they said that WW teaches you to eat quality instead of quantity. That is so true! Congrats on making lifetime. I wonder how that must feel? You mean you can't utilize the etools any longer when you make lifetime? I wonder how that works with my on-line membership? I should probably look into it but I have quite a ways to go. The points calculator that ordered is the same one you have. I didn't order the $25. I figure along with dining guide, I should be okay. Glad to hear the dining guide is so useful. I joined on-line and love it! I don't have the extra time to fit in one more meeting per week so this was right up my alley.

Andrea - I'm going to do my best to check in often. Because I do not go to meetings, I need the support. Aren't the on-line tools great?

Okay, gotta run - take care all and I'll check again on Sunday.

That is what we are here for, Andrea!!! We all need the support and motivation no matter what stage of our journey we are in......even after goal!

Maintenance is an mixed bag, there are many different stages (emotionally) during maintenance and lifetime. I am also at the high end of the range for my height, I would love to be lower, but I know ffrom past experience that I can't maintain it, so I maintain where I am. You really have to dig deep within yourself to answer if you can make this a forever change. You have worked so hard to get there and it is so easy to let it slip away. You have to really want it and continue to work at it, you never stop working at it if you want to maintain what you have accomplished. It is scary because we are all so programed to look for failure, but the good thing is YOU CAN DO THIS!!

I know it it hard coming back, I struggled with it for a while myself because I felt like I failed. But then I realised part of the reason I failed was because I left my support group on the DIS. I know I need support so I came back and fell right back into place, it makes a big difference.

The only way you can utilize eTools after you make lifetime is to pay $12 a month for it. I know that isn't much, but it is the principle of the whole thing for me. I have spent many years and hundres of dollars with WW and once I made lifetime I receive free memebership, that should also include eTools in my opinion. A few of the lifetimers at my meeting have contacted WW Int'l with our complaint and we got a very nice blow off letter saying they appreciate our comments. I don't know if it will ever change, but it was good to voice our concern.

So glad to have you back, looking forward to hearing about your first weigh in.

Happy Sunday everyone!!!!

Okay, I'm here to report my first weigh in and I couldn't be more thrilled. I lost a total of 9.4 pounds this first week!!! Woohoo!! I am so exicted by this loss. I thought I would have to do low carb and deprive myself of my favorite foods to lose weight like this. Now I know it is possible to lose weight and eat not only healthy foods but foods I truly love, as long as I count my points. I worked out 5 days of out 7 this week because of a stupid head cold so I also know that I don't have to work myself to death with exercise to lose weight.

I know this result is probably a-typical for a first week and I certainly know for sure I won't see results like this every week but boy has this initial loss boosted my confidence. If I had any hesitation about this program being right for me, that doubt is long gone.

I have already journaled my food for tomorrow and hopefully I will up to at least a modest 30 minute work out. Thanks guys for all your support!

tiggerlover - I think that stinks about the lifetime achievers not being able to use etools for free. That makes absolutely no sense. I am really relying on these tools through the on-line program and figured that once I achieved lifetime status I would be able to participate for free. Oh well, I guess what can you do? Thanks for letting me know so I won't be disappointed down the road. You are so right that coming back to WISH and getting the needed support is key to keeping the weight off. I don't plan to go anywhere this time and I'm glad you are here too! :)

WEIGH TO GO!!!! That is a phenomenal first week loss!!! I know you must be so excited with the results. You are right that the results aren't typical, the first two weeks on program tend to show decent losses and then it usually slow to 1-2 pounds a week. But keep in mind that everyone is different so every loss will be different.

If the thought of working your way to goal and not having eTools as a benefit makes bothers you as much as it does me then maybe you should go to the "Contact Us" button and send them a message on the website. Maybe if enough people complain about the lack of that benefit they will change it before you make goal. :)

Keep up the great work, you are doing so well so far!

Hi everyone! Use to check in here a long time ago. Started WW online back in 2004 and lost about 25 lbs (no where near goal). Then life got in the way and over the next couple of years gained it back. Tried to restart about a year ago but I just wasn't ready to be dedicated to it like I should be. Started again this past September and I plan on making it work this time.

So today I'm down 1.5 lbs. since last week and a total of 13.5 lbs. since I started again.

Tiggerlover - thanks for the encouragement. I can hardly believe I lost so much this first week. I know I can't expect results like this every week. That would not be healthy but I'm off to a great start and loving this program. I sure will send an email to the WW powers that be. I think if you are a lifetime member then all the services should be free. It's only fair.

WDWLVR - welcome back to WISH and WW. I am a returnee as well. I did low carb last time and lost a ton of weight and gained half back. The aspect I love the most about WW is that I don't have to restrict any food group and I'm down 9.4 pounds for my first week! Congrats to you on your loss. We both can do it!! I would love to hear about your on-line experience. Are you doing on-line now or just following from what you remember about the program? Did you frequent any of the message boards? I just don't get that warm fuzzy feeling over there that I get on WISH.

Have a great Monday OP day everyone!

I'm back doing it online. I tried once to do it myself using the at home kit I had bought but I just didn't have enough willpower. Doing it online helps force me to keep track better than when I was trying to do it myself. I tried the boards over there but just didn't get into it as much. Definately a much better group over here.

I totally feel the same way. I keep trying to find a group where I feel comfortable but nothing yet. I love doing WW on-line. Every night I log my food for the next day so when I wake up, it's a no brainer to figure out what to eat. I'm doing my best to save my flex points for the weekend. Me and my son have a date planned for Saturday night at Applebee's and Sunday my husband and I are having our once a month dinner with friends at a rib joint. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do a real splurge on the ribs or order a salmon salad or something like that. Part of me wants to order the healthy dish but part of me feels like if I have saved up the points and I really want the ribs I should go for it. We'll see how I feel closer to Sunday. :)

:welcome: back to WISH!! Congratulations on your loss to date, that is a great start!!!

We have a 2007 weigh in thread, you should stop by and add your loss to our total. We were shooting for a WISH loss of 2,007 pounds in 2007, we probably won't make the 2,007 goal, but we are almost to 1,000 pounds lost, so every loss helps move us towards our goal. Here's a link to see our progress: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1310460

Great to have you onboard, looking forward to following your progress and having another contributor to our ongoing thread.

It seems I never get over here, so I thought I might pop in. I have been struggling as of late, scale not going anywhere. But I am down .8 this week, not a great loss, but a loss none the less. I am hoping to get my 50lb clippie for my b-day in 12 days, so 3 pounds to go!! I CAN DO IT!!!

Congrats to all those who are doing so well, or have made goal. This time of year is really hard for me, what with all the birthdays and holidays, but I am trying to do better with food choices. Also since I am exercising so much more, I hope that I can maintain if I choose to indulge and not gain.

Keep up the great work everyone. I will try to get over here more often and check in.:goodvibes

Thanks! I went over and added my 13.5 pounds to the loss records!

I did not know there was a WISH thread for 2007 weight loss. That is awesome! Maybe at the end of the month I will add my loss to the total. What a great idea!

Today is a pretty good day for me. I have tracked my food through Wednesday and even have my dinner planned for our night out with friends on Sunday. If I save all my flex points from the week, I can have a nice dinner. I think I'm going to give it a try. I was so used to depriving myself with low carb to lose weight that I would love to see if I can eat relatively normally and still lose weight so this will be a great experiment. I read a ww success story and one of the tips at the end given by the lady was that she eats half her food at restaurants and buffets then if she is still hungry goes back for the second half which is really only one portion. It sounds like a mind game but I think it will work for me. I'm going to give it a try and ask for a box when my entree comes and then finish the meal later at home if I still feel hungry.

I had a great 30 minute step aerobics work out this morning! Cathe Friedrich always gets my heart pumping. One thing I don't understand is the activity points tracker. When I put in 30 minutes of step through the preselected menu it says its 5 APs which seems awful high to me. When I input the activity manually and put in a "moderate" level of exercise it gives me 2 APs. That seems a bit low. But I would rather underestimate than overestimate.

I have a question for the group, do you guys use your AP and Flex Points. I have read different threads on the ww board and people have such differing opinions, I would love to know what you all do. Thanks!

Vern - nice to have you checking in with us! I'm pulling for you that you get your 50 pound weight loss clippie. What an accomplishment that will be!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Good evening fellow WWers.

I am down .8 this week, and hoping to keep a downward trend for the next few weeks. I've been up and down with the same few pounds for months, and I really need to stick to it, journal and exercise. Especially with the holidays just around the corner.

ZerasPride- Congratulations on that awesome loss!!!:cool1: You should be so proud. 9.4 pounds is amazing for one week, and such motivation to keep it up. I love reading about your plan and how you have your food for the days ahead already planned out. I remember when I have been really motivated and done that in the past, and how much better the scale responded. You are inspiring me to get back to the basics, and really follow the program. It is so true that we can eat anything and go anywhere, as long as we plan accordingly. As far as flex points and APs, when I'm actually totally OP, I usually used all or most of my fps, and the majority of my aps also, and would always see a loss. I think we need the fps to keep our metabolism up, and if you're exercising and earning points, your burning more calories, and you body can use the extra energy. I remember people at meetings having weight gains, and having no idea how, but whenever I gain, I know why. When i follow the program, I lose weight. It sounds so simple, yet it is so hard some days.

VernRDH- Hello. Nice to see you back. Congrats on your loss, and 47 pounds is awesome. You should be proud. Good luck getting that next clippie. You can do it!!:cheer2:

WDWLVR- Welcome back to wish!! Congratulations on your great loss to date. We've all been there, lost and regained, but coming back is the first step to reaching our goals.

Andrea_loves_Disney- Just a few more weeks til Lifetime!!! Good luck with maintenance. I'm sure you will be able to work it out and make this a forever lifestyle change. It must be so awesome to reach your goal!!!

tiggerlover-Thanks for your support and encouragement. You are truly an inspiration to me. I enjoyed the 2007 weight loss thread earlier in the year when I was actually losing weight, and hope to be back on there soon with some losses.

We can lose this weight!!! And keep it off!!!
