WW Weekly Weigh-in

It seems I never get over here, so I thought I might pop in. I have been struggling as of late, scale not going anywhere. But I am down .8 this week, not a great loss, but a loss none the less. I am hoping to get my 50lb clippie for my b-day in 12 days, so 3 pounds to go!! I CAN DO IT!!!

Congrats to all those who are doing so well, or have made goal. This time of year is really hard for me, what with all the birthdays and holidays, but I am trying to do better with food choices. Also since I am exercising so much more, I hope that I can maintain if I choose to indulge and not gain.

Keep up the great work everyone. I will try to get over here more often and check in.:goodvibes

You are right, a loss is a loss, so congratulations! And if I am not around to say it :bday: Hope you have a terrific birthday and I hope you will be sporting this :wishfifty, it is here waiting for you to grab onto it!

I did not know there was a WISH thread for 2007 weight loss. That is awesome! Maybe at the end of the month I will add my loss to the total. What a great idea!

Today is a pretty good day for me. I have tracked my food through Wednesday and even have my dinner planned for our night out with friends on Sunday. If I save all my flex points from the week, I can have a nice dinner. I think I'm going to give it a try. I was so used to depriving myself with low carb to lose weight that I would love to see if I can eat relatively normally and still lose weight so this will be a great experiment. I read a ww success story and one of the tips at the end given by the lady was that she eats half her food at restaurants and buffets then if she is still hungry goes back for the second half which is really only one portion. It sounds like a mind game but I think it will work for me. I'm going to give it a try and ask for a box when my entree comes and then finish the meal later at home if I still feel hungry.

I had a great 30 minute step aerobics work out this morning! Cathe Friedrich always gets my heart pumping. One thing I don't understand is the activity points tracker. When I put in 30 minutes of step through the preselected menu it says its 5 APs which seems awful high to me. When I input the activity manually and put in a "moderate" level of exercise it gives me 2 APs. That seems a bit low. But I would rather underestimate than overestimate.

I have a question for the group, do you guys use your AP and Flex Points. I have read different threads on the ww board and people have such differing opinions, I would love to know what you all do. Thanks!

Vern - nice to have you checking in with us! I'm pulling for you that you get your 50 pound weight loss clippie. What an accomplishment that will be!

Have a great OP day everyone!

I am glad you like my 2007 Weight Loss thread, I started it to help motivate and keep people accountable, because that is what helped me through this. We had a pretty good following for a while, but it has dropped off a little lately, I am just hoping that we will finish the year with a bang!

You know the ideal thing about WW is you do not have to deprive yourself, you just have to learn to budget your food. It sounds like you have a good plan in place and that you WILL enjoy a good dinner out.

I am always careful with exercise points, because you don't want to exercise just to eat. In my opinion 30 minutes of exercise would be more along the lines of 2 points, but I think that depends on your weight. When I was losing I rarely ate my exercise points, but I always ate all of my flex points. On the weeks that I ate both I saw very little in the loss department, but that is just me. Everyone is different so you may need to experiment until you find what works for you.

A good attitude is part of what it takes to succeed at this so you are well on your way to success!

I am down .8 this week, and hoping to keep a downward trend for the next few weeks. I've been up and down with the same few pounds for months, and I really need to stick to it, journal and exercise. Especially with the holidays just around the corner.

tiggerlover-Thanks for your support and encouragement. You are truly an inspiration to me. I enjoyed the 2007 weight loss thread earlier in the year when I was actually losing weight, and hope to be back on there soon with some losses.

We can lose this weight!!! And keep it off!!!

Congrats to you on your loss this week! This truly is a hard time of year to stay OP, that is why we ALL need to support and encourage one another. I am not looking forward to the coming weeks and all the temptations they bring with it! I am right at goal and have little wiggle room and I need to stay focused. So together we wil persevere!!

ONWARD AND DOWNWARD!:cool1:

Good evening fellow WWers.

I am down .8 this week, and hoping to keep a downward trend for the next few weeks. I've been up and down with the same few pounds for months, and I really need to stick to it, journal and exercise. Especially with the holidays just around the corner.

ZerasPride- Congratulations on that awesome loss!!!:cool1: You should be so proud. 9.4 pounds is amazing for one week, and such motivation to keep it up. I love reading about your plan and how you have your food for the days ahead already planned out. I remember when I have been really motivated and done that in the past, and how much better the scale responded. You are inspiring me to get back to the basics, and really follow the program. It is so true that we can eat anything and go anywhere, as long as we plan accordingly. As far as flex points and APs, when I'm actually totally OP, I usually used all or most of my fps, and the majority of my aps also, and would always see a loss. I think we need the fps to keep our metabolism up, and if you're exercising and earning points, your burning more calories, and you body can use the extra energy. I remember people at meetings having weight gains, and having no idea how, but whenever I gain, I know why. When i follow the program, I lose weight. It sounds so simple, yet it is so hard some days.

mikamah - Congrats on your weight loss and thanks so much for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. I am on fire at this point but I am new so I'm sure as the days and weeks go on, I will lose some of my initial enthusiaum but I am riding this train at full speed as long as it lasts. Thanks for letting me know your view on APs and FPs. I have yet to use all of them. Last week, my first week, I think I ended the week with close to 30 flex points. I was just afraid to use them to liberally. I feel a bit more confident this week and have that dinner on Sunday so I know I'll use them. Sticking to plan, I am sure is the key for all of us so you make me feel good when you say I, as a newbie, am encouraging you!

Tiggerlover - so you are the one that started that thread for the 2007 weight loss! Good for you and what a great idea. I won't be adding much to the total for this year but every pound will help, I'm sure. I hope the thread will continue for 2008.

You are so right that we do not have to deprive ourselves. I still feel like I'm dreaming with that concept. I have never EVER tried a diet plan that did not involve tight lipped deprivation of the foods I love but with the flex program I can have whatever I deem worthy enough to budget in and I'm surprised and delighted that burgers, fries, brownies and such are just not making the cut when you only have so many points to account for per day.

I also thank you for the advice about finding the right combo of using my weekly points, APs and FPs that work for me.

We look forward to your contribution on the 2007 thread and you bet I will be starting a 2008 thread January 1st!

I think another thing to recognize is what you are learning at WW is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change. You have to learn to change the way you eat in order for this to work for life. And the greatest thing is if you want that hamburger or brownie you can have it. I have also learned to make substitutions, I now eat turkey burgers flavored with Lipton's onion soup instead of regular burgers. I usually eat them on 1 pt hamburger rolls and it looks like I am enjoying what the rest of the family is enjoying and when seasoned they taste pretty darn good. That doesn't mean I have given up burgers for good, but now I never buy fast food burgers and when I want a good burger there are two restaurants that I usually go to, but it is rare, it is just when the craving strikes. Experimenting with healthier versions of what you eat helps you satisfy certain cravings. Also making over recipes on the website of your favorite meals is a real treat too.

I could go on and on so I will stop here. Sometimes I get on a roll and can't stop myself. Have a great night!!!

Tiggerlover - you can talk all you want as far as I'm concerned about WW. I'm such a newbie, I'll take all the advice and suggestions you guys have to give! I have already replaced my usual Saturday afternoon hot dog lunch with fat free hot dogs and while not quite the same, they are pretty good. I've also replaced my afternoon sugary snack bar with crunchy sweet baby carrots. Yummy! So you just keep the advice coming!

I've actually grown to love the fat free hot dogs, maybe it is because I don't like regular hot dogs. I take them to work for lunch once or twice a month and use the 1 PT rolls and have a salad...yum, yum!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Oh....just a quick update, I finally got my referral for my knees, I go to see the orthopedist on Tuesday. I am anxious to hear what he has to say.

Take care, all.

Well weigh in was this morning and I have no change from last week. Not surprising as while I was pretty good watching my points I didn't do any exercise. So no loss, but also no gain. Today starts a new week and I'm going to be more determined to get moving again and lose some weight!

I just know you're going to have a great OP week and get in some exercise, which should help the scale move. I'm cheering for you! :cheer2:

I didn't know you had knee problems. Ouch! I hope you get the news you want. Ever since I hit 40 a few months ago, I just don't seem to be able to do the Firm work outs with the step like before. My knees seem to ache for days.

Okay, I'm reporting my 2 week weight loss since joining WW. I am happy to report that I am down 10.6 pounds! I'm so excited!!! This program is just fabulous. I can't even describe how happy I am to know that I can lose weight and still enjoy the foods I have always loved.

Last night we went out to dinner with friends for our once a month couples thang and had a great time. I budgeted enough flex points to enjoy 1/2 rack of baby back ribs, a baked potato with just a bit of butter and sour cream and a big salad with Walden Farms honey dijon dressing (zero points). It was a yummy dinner but I truly focused on my friends (for once) and not the food. Normally, I'm so distracted by how I'm going to gorge myself and what's for dessert that I only pay minimal attention to the others at the table but this was different. I was able to relax and enjoy myself knowing what I would order in advance. I ate a dessert (WW double chocolate cake) at home later that night and felt like the evening was a total NSV (non scale victory).

I have already entered my food for the entire week (through Friday) into the food tracker because DH and I are hosting a big dinner party on Sunday evening with turkey, ham and most of the trimmings. I'm planning on making the WW Apple Sausage Stuffing (I think that's the name) and picking up a lean cuisine mac and cheese or ww mac and cheese entree for me to go along with dinner and plan to load up on veggies first. I might even make the ww brownie cupcake bites I saw on the site last night. I will let you all know how the dinner turns out and I definitely plan to stay within my points while enjoying the food and the company!

I was up early this morning and did a 30 minute Firm cardio work out so I feel like my week is off to a great start!

Have a wonderful OP Monday everyone! :)

Isn't it amazing what exercise can do for us? I know when I miss my exercise the scale isn't as kind to me either. But at lease there wasn't a gain. Hope you see the scale moving at your next weigh in.

I have had knee problems since early last year, I thought losing the extra weight I gained would make a difference, but it didn't. I too turned 40 this year (will be 41 in less than 8 weeks!) and when I started exercising in May I started having big problems with my knees. The last couple of months my doctor had me on lower impact exercise and Motrin, but the relief is slight so it is off to a specialist tomorrow. I hope he will be able to advise me so that I can get back to working out the way I want.

Congrats on your second WI, you are doing a wonderful job. You have taken the WW program and ran with it, kudos to you. It is fantastic that you were able to enjoy your friends and not focus on the food, that is a big step in the right direction. I am impressed with your food planning skills, I don't think I could journal all my food for a week at a time.

Keep up the great work!!! It is so refreshing to have you on board with us!

Good afternoon ladies!

I hope everyone is having a great day. I feel so good having my food journaled for the week. I even printed out the pages and I put them on my frig so all I have to do in the morning before work is look at the list, pack my breafkast and lunch accordingly and take something out for dinner or sigh with relief that we're having leftovers! Ha!

tiggerlover - thanks so much for saying I'm refreshing to have around. I actually wonder if I "talk" too much but I'm so excited about this program that it's hard to contain myself sometimes! I'm so sorry to hear about your knee problems. I hope you can get back to your regular work outs soon. I did Firm Jiggle Free Arms this morning totally forgetting about all the stepping you do but I got through it and my knees don't feel too sore so that's good.

We're meeting tonight to discuss who is bringing what the potluck dinner at our house on Sunday. I know for sure I'm making the WW stuffing and mac and cheese plus we'll pick up a spiral sliced ham. I'm not sure if I will do a dessert or not. I forgot that I am babysitting my three darling nieces on Saturday so I won't have much time to prep food.

Has anyone tried the WW ice cream bars? I discovered the oreo cookie ones for only 2 points and boy oh boy am I in heaven with those things! Yummy!!! I see a lot of posts on the ww board about the skinny cow ice cream sandwiches, anyone try those? I am a total ice cream fanatic so I'm always on the lookout for something new.

Have a great OP day everyone! :)

Good evening WWers!!!!
I am down .8 this week, which isn't much, but for me, it's two weeks in a row with a small loss, so I am happy. I have 1.2 pounds to re-lose (if that's a word), and then I'll be back down to 40 pounds total gone since I started WW about 2 years ago. I'm trying real hard to make that next week before the start of the holidays, and if I do, hope that will help keep me in control. I know this is a lifestyle change, and I'm thrilled that I have kept most of the weight off, but still have another 20-30 to go. WW is definitely the way to go for me. I made chili over the weekend which always keep me on track for my meals, and I've been doing less late night eating. I plan to walk in the morning after my son gets on the bus tomorrow and friday this week. (so I figured I'd best get my Dis fix before bed tonight and turn the computer off)

Zeraspride- Congratulations on your awesome loss!! More than 10 pounds in two weeks is fabulous. You should be so proud. I love this program for the freedom you have, and when you are faithful like you are being, you will see results.
I have had the ww icecreams too and love the giant fudge bars which are only one point and delicious. That's great that you are focusing on people instead of the food when you go out. I come from a family where functions revolve around food. I have my sons birthday coming up and will make chili for that and order pizza. There is a great ww pie recipe that I make for family functions when I'm being good. One eigthth of the pie is only 3 points. You can use any flavor jello and yogurt, but you take one four serving size sugarfree jello and mix with 2 tablespoons boiling water til dissolved, then add 2 sugar free yogurts of the same flavor and mix it in, followed by a small ff coolwhip, and pour it in a graham cracker pie crust and chill. It's simple and good. I use keylime yogurt with lime jello for one pie, and either strawberry or raspberry for a second pie for christmas and have a red and green.

Tiggerlover- How did your doctor's appointment go with the orthopedist? Hope he had some suggestions for you. I'm 43, and it is amazing how the body changes after 40. My knees did bother me before, but my weight loss has definitely helped that. Hope things went well for you today.

WDWLVR-Sorry you did not see a loss this week, but staying the same is definitely better than a gain, so good work!:thumbsup2 I'm sure you'll see a loss next week.

Have a losing week everyone!!:cheer2:

You sound like a very organized person and I love reading about all of your pre-planning. Excitement is contagious, so I say talk away, if any of our posts get others motivated then we have served a good purpose, right? Hope your planning meeting went well and that you all came up with some good ideas. Have you utilized the recipes on WW website or slimmed down any of your favorite recipes, that was one of my favorite features when I had access.

I have tried the WW bars and they are good. The Skinny Cow sandwiches are good, but this time of year I don't eat them as much. I am an ice cream person too, my newest fav is Breyers Slow Churned vanilla, it is like a point per 1/4 cup. Yum, yum.

Congrats on the .8, that is only 2/10th away from a pound so that is worth celebrating. And you are so right that this is a lifestyle and maintaining a 40 pound loss over 2 years is something to be proud of!! I'm worried about the holiday season too and I have stepped up my exercising this week because of the extra food at work already. I think when my new week starts on Friday I will pull out the old journals again, I have to admit I have not been journaling faithfully in a few weeks and although I am maintaining I am nervous enough about all of the food in the coming weeks to be more accountable.

My doctor's appointment went well. In simple terms I have a crooked kneecap. I start physical therapy on Saturday, I need to go 2-3 times a week for 6-8 weeks. So I am hoping with the exercises and therapy that the problem will correct itself and I will have a pain-free new year!

Hope everyone out there is doing okay.....even our lurkers! To some of my silent buddies who lurk  I miss all of you posting! Now that the holidays are upon us we need to support one another more than ever.

Have a great night everyone!!

Good luck with the therapy. It must be a relief to know something is wrong, and sounds like it can be corrected with therapy, so that is good news. Busy time of year to add 3 appointments a week, but it will be worth it.

Yes, the holidays are here!!! Another year has flown by. I am getting very excited about the holidays. I changed jobs to an outpatient dept in september, and this is the first time I can ever remember being off thanksgiving and the long weekend, and I'll have a long weekend off over christmas too. I always worked every other weekend and holiday, so it is very exciting for me. I've been doing well this week, and am going to try and splurge on thursday, but to not totally lose control, and on friday, to get right back on track. We will be going to my nephews high school football game on thanksgiving, and usually go out to breakfast beforehand, and then will have dinner at my brothers house.

Hope everyone is doing well!! Have a great week!! I'll wish you all a happy Thanksgiving too, but hope to be back before then!!!
