Lisa, we stay in Ocean Reef resort in Myrtle Beach several times a year...it's great. Get on their email list and you'll get tons of discount emails. Last year we stayed at Christmas in a 4 bedroom condo...it was about $80 a night...one bedrooms went for $39 a night! They are clean, in a great location right on the beach, and have an indoor AND outdoor pool.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread. I dropped my package off today to FedEx. Hopefully, tomorrow I will get a very good phone call from USGB! If I get enough back, I'm hoping to fly up and see my brother. His baby is due around the same time he is going to be deployed to Afghanistan so with any luck, I will be able to fly up and see him off.

I used http://www.usgoldbuyers.com. We'll see what happens. Sent it Thursday night but FEDEX had already pick up so they said it would go yesterday and be delivered by 3pm today. Just a few pieces; not expecting much. I sold a lot more a few months back through a friend who does this for a living and it amounted to like $400. Not nearly as much this time.

Got my quote from US Gold Buyers. It was about $175. I sent 2 rings (10k each), a 14k gold (which looked a bit thick, weighed about 9 grams with the little scale I had), a nameplate necklace (14k I think?), and a charm. What do you guys think?

I could be very wrong,but I was almost sure that somewhere in this thread I saw where rings from one of the "home shopping channels,etc" that were suppost to be 14k (with stones in them) were told that they had other metals in them also and were not given any money for.Now,keep in mind that I am not sure about this and it could have even been from one of the "home gold buying things"and in no way I am saying this is true (and I meant all shopping channels,not just one) and I'd like to know if anyone has come across this problem?Also anything I might have saw (not for sure) that some (not all) class rings that we all paid big bucks for were also told that they wouldn't take them because of other metals being in them.I am sure we all didn't buy our class rings from the same company any way,but I'd just like to know.Thanks

All 14kt is mixed with other metals, no matter where it is from. There is no guideline as to what metals are used (which is why some gold is yellower than others, but still the same kt). I sent in a 14kt ring from QVC and had no issues getting my money on it. Also sent in a class ring that was 14kt...no problems there either. I used us Gold Buyers for my stuff. Only problems you will have is if you have gold plated items-I had a pair of earrings that were vermeil and they don't accept those. Everything else was fine.

Like KeepMovingForward said, I sent in a classring also, and had no problem getting money for it. In fact, I sent in two, one from a jewlery store (mine), and one from jostens (my husbands)

Another recommendation for USGoldbuyers. I sent my items in late Monday afternoon and got the phone call late Tuesday afternoon and my check went out in today's mail. They wouldn't "dicker" on the price with me though (and I'm a trained negotiator and I couldn't get anywhere!) I was happy with the amount that I got though-more than fair for a some old broken jewelry. I'm hoping to get it within the next couple of days (I am in NY so it shouldn't take long). I sent things Monday and they called me yesterday. I got $173 for 2 wedding bands, 1 ring with a few little emeralds and diamonds, a very tiny chain bracelet, 1 tiny heart charm, 1 big 18k charm. I thought I'd get about 200. I had them paypal me and it went in about an hour after I talked to them.

Sent my gold off yesterday to US goldbuyers. Several pieces (probably around 15) mostly rings and thin chains. Got a call today and I will be receiving a check for $807!! Very happy as we leave for WDW next Friday and this will pay for our dining while we are there!!
