WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Anyone done this lately?

FedEx just came got mine. I sent in 5 bracelets, 6 necklaces, 11 charms, 8 rings, 1 toering (ha! it was a gift, okay? lol), 7 pairs of earrings. Then I had three things extra that I wasn't really sure about, but tossed them in. I know one or two were 18k, some were 14k and some 10k. Only a couple pieces were thicker or heavier.

If I get a couple hundred I'll be happy. If I get more, I'll be happier! If I get less, well....fooey.

DO they take broken things? I did it once before in college and I think I had 2 bracelets and made about $100.

I hope so, as some of the stuff I sent was broken. :)

FedEx picked up my package yesterday at 2:00 PM. It's already been delivered to USGB, I hope my call comes today!

Please post on here how it works out!! I am thinking of doing this as well. I was going to go to a local jeweler instead, but am thinking of trying this out!

So I am really thinking about doing this. I went on their website and they had live chat and I chatted with an agent. The price today was $11.84 per gram for sterling silver and $16.58 per gram for 14k. I am hoping to atleast have 2 ounces or more! Now I have to make an appointment for tomorrow to sell my cd collection. I am trying to downsize. Do I really need the 400 cd's that I haven't used in over 3 years? I can probably only get $1 a piece but I guess it's worth it :confused3

Did you know how much the weight was?

I just used my shipping scale that I use for eBay, so it could be off. I *think* I had like 1.6 oz (but that was with my 10k, 14k and 18k mixed.) I have read that 1.6 oz translates to 29.1666 pennyweight, which is how they pay. (per pennyweight) I was just ballparking my figure, if it was all the lowest, 10k, at that pennyweight, it would be over $500. However, they may deem something of mine not gold or my weight could be off. Secretly I am hoping for $500! However if my weights are right, it should be more than that since some is 14k and maybe one or two are 18k.

Man, everytime the phone rings I jump out of my skin. They are supposed to call you within 24 hours of receiving it, I think. I have my fingers crossed for today!

ETA: I have a boatload of silver that I didn't send. I didn't think it brought much, no idea. But it's okay, as when I do wear jewelry, I like silver best for my skin tone.

lol! I would be the same way. I am going to go through mine tonight and send it in. I want to weight it at home and get an idea. Definately let me know how things go!
Did you send it fed ex?

I did send it FedEx. I called for a pick up, I thought it would be a hassle as I live in the middle of NOWHERE and we don't even have a FedEx office here, but they came to pick it up within 2 hours of my call.

I'm still waiting on my offer call. I went to the live chat thing, and they told me they are there until 6 PM Eastern time, that I should get the call today or tomorrow morning at the latest. AND she told me that there is a promotion where if you send in more than 1 oz of gold, they'll overnight your check to you. Now THAT sounds good!

Okay, I got my call! I got $783.34. I am pretty pleased with that. :)

I asked about the overnight thing on a check and he said fine, I will have it tomorrow via FedEx. Can't beat that!

Thanks for the info! I am going to go through my jewelry tonight. I think I'm as excited for you as you are :lmao: I can't wait to hear how you make out! I was on the live chat thing today getting information. I am going to pile my stuff up. I wonder how they calculate rings that have stones in them. Do they pop the setting out and weigh it? Maybe they will weigh it with the stones in and pay that way.
I do have 2 diamond rings I was going to sell but not sure how that would work with them. I know they will buy diamonds but nervous about that

I had .8 troy ounces of fine gold, they said. They didn't tell me any breakdown or pennyweights. I am happy with it all. :) Let me know how much you sell and how it goes!

Now I'm all wondering how to scrounge up more gold to sell, lol.

I have a few small pieces I am thinking about sending in, who do you use, I have gone back many pages and can't find anything but some abbreviations? I have seen Cash For Gold on TV, is that one of them or does someone pay better.

Definitely avoid Cash For Gold. They will only pay you a fraction of what the gold is worth. Use one of the 2 companies mentioned over and over again in this thread...USGB(USGoldBuyers) or GoldFellow(I think that's the other one). They pay much better than Cash For Gold.

Thank you, I couldn't figure out what USGB stood for and no matter how far back in the thread I went, I couldn't find it :confused3

The one I just used is US Goldbuyers.com. I used them because after reading (most!) of this huge thread, they seemed to be the ones that were paying the most, and quickly.

A couple of things I really liked about it......they email you the information to fill out the FedEx Airbill. It ships on their dime, and is signed for. From the FedEx site, you can see when it's signed for. FedEx picked mine up yesterday around 2 PM, it was signed for today in NYC around 9:30, and I had my quote around 5:30 today. They said they are overnighting my check (a promotion they have right now if you sell over an ounce) so I should have it in hand tomorrow. Painless! It all felt very secure.

I have my jewelry ready to go! There were some pieces I have decided not to include because I want to see what I am offered. I am hoping for atleast $300. I would probably pee my pants if I got $700 :lmao:
I have to check with them today...if I send it today will they check it on a saturday or I will probably have to wait until monday. I want to make sure someone is there to sign on a saturday though

I'm waiting for a check from USGB for $765...had a local appraisal for only $625, so I'm glad I went with USGB instead. I sold some gold to them in March of '08 and was really happy with the whole transaction, so I decided to try them again. Good luck, everyone! :goodvibes

Did you have a lot of jewelry? Was it all 14k? I am sending in what looks like some silver pieces....not sure if they are
