Would you take this situation to a higher, corporate level?

Is this really a problem worthy of all this comment?
You know what, I'm sorry I posted at all! Maybe I should have posted another thread about crocs, or asked what kind of deodorant people here use!! It seems it's ok to have 950 posts on those threads.

I had a genuine problem at this hotel. This was not a Hotel 6 or anything, for Bicker who says that since the staff is being paid minimally, it's ok to be rude to their customers, that is the kind of service we should expect... give me a break!!!

Yes, we did finally get what we asked and paid for. But that was after we were made to feel humiliated and stupid for suggesting there was anything but a king bed in their hotel. And, we also did NOT get an apology or the call we ASKED for from the manager after we had check in.

It seems funny that everyone would be so "just let it go" here. My gosh if little Johnny did get a towel animal from housekeeping at WDW, everyone is up in arms. Or if your birthday or anniversary was not acknowledged... OMG how horrible!!!

To be brutally honest: you ruined your own trip, and I think there was a huge sigh of relief when you left ... and I'm sure there are comments on your record now, and no front desk agent there is ever going to look at you quite the same way. You traded off two feet of bed for a continuing relationship with a hotel you really like, and part of the reason was your approach - you took the vinegar route right off the bat, and honey would've gotten you a heck of a lot further.
EXCUSE ME!!! I did not take the vinegar route, the hotel staff did!! My trip was not ruined, my DH and I had a wonderful time in spite of the hotel problem. I could care less what they were thinking when we left, or what comments are on my record. You weren't there but seem to feel free to attack me... how rude of YOU!!!

Hahahah!!! :rotfl:

Seriously, you had every right to post your inquiry. This is as valid of a thread topic as any.

It's not me from whom you need a break. I'm telling it like it is. Prime quality service staff demand prime wages. This is a fact.

Hahaha!!! :)

Gosh, I wish I could write stuff like that! Even though I think you were offered adequate compensation, Mercy, I have to say, More Power To You! :thumbsup2

Whew ... no mercy in the reply at all! (gotta love the irony)

Yes she finally got when she paid for, after being called a liar and making a stink. She should have gotten what she paid for without having to fight for it...

Wouldnt you be upset if you ordered a size 14 coat online and when you got it it was only a size 12. So you call the customer service and they tell you now you are wrong, they sent you a size 14.. You check the tag again, tag says 12...

but hey i dont see the big deal, save it for when you lose a few pounds......

no you would complain until they sent you the right size and you would be upset if they charged you shipping on their mistake right?

its the same thing.........

I find it amazing how some people let the most trivial of things really bother them.
I was thinking the same thing.

And once again someone asks a question and when they get differing opinions get upset and defensive. If all you wanted was validation for what you did say that, don't ask a question.

The problem is not with the question that you posted, but your predeterimined reponse from all of us that is the problem. And sarcasm will not help your cause. That just reinforces to me that you had a part in the lenght that the arugment went on.

Yes you had a problem. I for one think Bicker is wrong about the reason for the poor customer service.

You did get what you paid for and are not willing to leave it at that. You played a part in your own humiliation. Sorry that is how I see it and see above for an example.

I would tell them to let it go to. So no inconsistancy for me here.

THANK YOU TIGGER1! At least you get it.

The rest of you... well I have nothing more to say. I posted a situation just looking for some feedback. Instead I just got attacked and belittled (not by all, thank you). For those who were wondering, why anyone is bothering responding to this thread, well those comments are just plain, rude. If you didn't think the thread was worthy of a response, then why did you respond.

Sorry, your situation is not much of a problem. If it is, you truly lead an enchanted life.

I read this entire thread. Who can I see about getting those 10 minutes of my life back?

I've posted twice saying that I think that you should write a letter! I agree that you should, even if you don't get anything for free and like I said in my first post, I would CC everyone I could possibly CC. We've done this in a handful of situations, only when we really felt slighted. Guess I'm invisible ... :rotfl:

Mercy, I think you should just let it go. Sure, you were given a hard time in front of strangers, but I'd stop short of calling it an "attack". Sounds like it was just a problem of misinformed or mistrained staff, and they corrected the problem in the end. I'm sure it was a big deal at the time, but you got the room you wanted, and it's all done and over with. There are bigger problems in life, and t's really not worth wasting any more time on. This really is a silly thing to be arguing about!

You played a part in your own humiliation.

In this case, playing a part in self humiliation would be insisting they are wrong and having them prove YOU are wrong. I don't see this happening here.

No Tigger&Belle, you are not invisible. I remember you post, and thank you for your constructive comment. It's just I got a string of nasty, very judgemental posts... and I guess they kind of floored me. I wasn't prepared for that.

You know what, I am in the OP's corner on this one. I don't get away all that often alone with my DH and when I plan events I plan them good and when the OP saw the QUEEN instead of the KING, they didn't need Customer Service arguing with the Customer over the bed size. Just change the room. I was wondering WHY no one got out a measuring tape....that said my DH is a Land Surveyor/Engineer....he has measuring devices with him all the time...really strange behavior I know...but we would have asked for a tape meaure and then they would have all been satisfied at Customer Service that in THAT room was a QUEEN bed. DH & I do not have a KING bed but when we go away we always request a KING bed.

Last MAY I choose a 5 star hotel for my entire family/in-laws and out-laws for my DS' college graduation. When we checked in to the hotel the A/C was BROKEN. Can you imagine and it was soooooo hot, we were miserable. Mind you there were no other hotels for miles as there were many graduations going on that weekend in the City. The equipment OUTSIDE the hotel on flatbeds were whole new A/C units. My DH (engineer) says to see that equipment outside that building THEY had to have ordered all that awhile ago and why they did not inform of us in advance that the A/C was broken is ridiculous. I complained after spending TWO days at that hotel and all we got was our PARKING FREE just like the OP!!! Nothing more and let me tell you it was HORRIBLE. I know they could not control the A/C but to have let us know and allow us the opportunity to book another hotel would have been ideal. They did not want to lose our $500.00 per night room fare. PARKING that was it PARKING!! $40.00!!!

I am with the OP!!!

Just checking! I did go back and make sure that my posts really posted--I was starting to wonder. :rotfl2:

We have done an e-mail blitz 2 times that I can think of. One time I brought some pictures to a photo finishing place about 1/2 hour from our house. I got there when they were almost ready to close (actually got there right at closing) because we hit traffic. There were still people in the store and they would not let us in the door and we explained that we were just dropping off film, hot lots of rolls to develop, had driven about 1/2 hour to get there, etc, etc and they wouldn't need to ring us up, we wouldn't delay them, etc, etc. They would not budge and we were not happy. The owners were NOT happy with the way I was treated and ended up offering to develop ALL of the rolls of film for free. I did not ask for anything and only explained how we were treated.

Another time my DH was going to Toys R Us 5 minutes before closing on a Sunday evening and they locked the door early. He explained to them that he knew exactly what he wanted (2 Game Boy games) knew that they had them in stock, and would be in and out of the store quickly after making the purchase, but the guy still wouldn't let him in the door (still not the official store closing store at this time). They did send us a gift card, which was good because my DH was mad enough that he was willing to never shop there again and I think without that show of goodwill (or whatever you want to call it) they might not have won him back.

Both times we wrote e-mails and gave details (dates, time of day, names of people, etc) so it was obvious that it was something that really happened and so that the stores could talk to those who were responsible. We did not expect compensation, but it is good business for them to offer something. Makes for happy customers.

Yes, you did eventually get the king bed, but that isn't the point. You should not have had to go through the embarrassment and headache of dealing with the night staff and at the very least they should have offered an apology when they realized that it was a queen bed. Yes, the day staff tried to make it right, but the night staff messed up and it should have come from them. Heads should roll with the night staff and it won't happen if you don't speak up!

Mercy, I just wanted to say that if you do stay at this hotel again, be sure to contact the manager that gave you his card, perhaps by email, when you make your next reservation. Remind him of when you stayed and what your issue was. Mention that despite the fact that you had a problem last stay you still value your relationship with this hotel company, and that is why you are coming back. It is the hospitality business after all, they do want you to come back. If you take this extra step you will probably find that it was worth the extra phone call/email. :)

I would definitely contact sheraton. Sheraton is supposed to have a service promise. Did the hotel have any king beds?
