Would you go out of the way??

It seems as though no one is venturing out of the way to SSR or OKW. I've never been to either, but I would have thought that Disney would reward it's DVC members by giving them GREAT restaurants...I guess not?! :confused3

You'd think...but no

That is kinda the opposite of what they do.

Don't get me wrong...I like the food at Saratoga and Olivia's is a longtime favorite...but the purpose of DVC is trying to lock in repeat
Business by lower overhead/maximizing profit

That means packing more people into existing restaurants a as is the case at the "mixed use" hotels - and limiting overhead costs at the largest DVcs - which happen to be Saratoga, old key west, and kidani village at animal
Kingdom

Yachtsclub
Contemporary Grill
Cape May at BC
GF have tried most in this resort
Kona's at Poly
Boma's at AK
O Hana's at Poly

so yes we do eat in reosrts a lot we have at one time or other stayed in them but still go back and eat there.

That's too bad! For all the DVC members to spend so much money(it's a lot to me), and not be overly rewarded. Although I stayed at BWv and loved Flying Fish and Kiuzzina!

We have traveled to Ohana's at they Poly, CM at the Contemporary, WCC at WL, 1900 PF at GF. We have found all to be worth it. We don't worry about location. It is a matter of what we want at the time.

The one place we always go - as in every trip at least once is POFQ at lunchtime for their Po'boys and beignets. The beignets are available at night ats well but the po'boys are lunch only. Probably doesn't sound all that exciting but we really enjoy them!

Also try to swing by Capt Cooks for Tonga Toast and I'm looking forward to trying AoA's Landscape of Flavors neat looking menu!!

Without a doubt, the Grand Floridian.
Citrico's is one of my favorite restaurants at Disney. And I specially love Narcoossee's, V&A, the Grand Floridian Cafe, and I even think Gasparilla is my favorite QS LOL.
yeah, what SHE said. :)

Citricos is our absolute favorite! But we also loved Flying Fish as a close second and Kona cafe for breakfast!:cloud9:

Which hotel, if any, have you enjoyed the food at so much, that even if you weren't staying there, you'd go out of your way to go to that restaurant. What do you recommend there?

There are a few hat fit the bill for me. First, we always visit 'Ohana at the Poly for either breakfast or dinner and sometimes even both. We also enjoy Kona's (also at the Poly) teriyaki strip steak. We enjoy the Clambake at Beach Club's Cape May but we only do that every couple years. Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jiko is our favorite restaurant on the planet. We mix up what we get every time and it's always wonderful. Every few years we'll visit the Grand Floridian's 1900 Park Fare too.

We like visiting the restaurants that are in hotels because we love to experience the various themes and it's a nice respite from parks.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Citricos! The chef is fantastic. It seems as though the menu has changed a bit since we were there in April '11. The awesome crab gateau doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore :(

Kona is a MUST for us. We don't ever feel as though it is out of the way, as a previous poster had mentioned. We always make ADR's for breakfast there on the day we are going to MK. I love that Tonga!

We stayed at BWV last trip and Flying Fish was delish! :goodvibes

I'll throw in another vote for Boma!

I stayed at AKL a few years ago, and I couldn't entice anyone in my group to go to Boma. I am the most adventurous eater in my family and the rest of them are so 'vanilla'. If it isn't traditional American or Italian, they're not really into it! It's a shame for me! :confused3

Not a restaurant per say, but the bakery at the Boardwalk. I've actually never stayed there, but during one visit our friends stayed there and we visited them. We visited the bakery and I had the cheesecake brownie. And now every time we visit, I make a special trip there just for that brownie. To die for.

Cape May at BC

We enjoy the Clambake at Beach Club's Cape May but we only do that every couple years.

Yes! We like to take the Friendship boats from HS to Cape May's at the Beach Club. We love seafood. It's not too long of a trip with the boats, so it doesn't consume too much of the day.

We used to go to Sanaa (both of the last two years), but I doubt we'll ever do it again. It just takes too much time to get there on the buses, eat and get back to your resort. We have found the food to be excellent, as well as the scenery, but the whole trip just takes too much out of our day.

We'll stick to those on the monorail, or connected to the friendship boats. 1900 Parkfare is an excellent buffet on property as well.

Yes, I would go back to Polynesian to eat at 'Ohana even if I were staying somewhere else.

Resort restaurants are some of my favorites on property.

We always go to Captain Cooks CS a the Poly at least once per trip and it is totally worth the trek to us. We will either go for lunch and travel there from MK as a little break from the park or we will go for dinner on our first night and watch the EWP and Wishes from the beach afterwards. I LOVE their turkey club sandwiches and Dole Whips and my DH loves their pulled pork sandwiches. Poly is also my favorite resort, so i enjoy shopping and hanging out in the lobby as well.

We love the sandwiches and salads a Roaring Forks at the WL as well and its alo a nice break from the parks.

We also love traveling to AKL for Sanaa early dinner or Boma after a day at DAK.

Another huge fan of their Aloha Pork sandwich!! :thumbsup2 Our last trip, we actually got them to go, and went to the MK and sat up at the train station and ate them while watching the parade!!

We love dining at other resorts. In fact, most of our nights in Disney involve dining in resort restaurants. So far, we think most are easily worth the trip, and rarely is the trip too difficult, if done most efficiently.

Our favorites are California Grill, Artist Point, all 3 at AKL (except DS, who doesn't care for the AKL restaurants because he doesn't like curry, and found every dish slightly curry-fied) and 'Ohana. We are going to try Yachtsman, Citricos and Narcoossees this trip and I'm sure they'll make our list, too. The only resort restaurants we've tried that we WON'T go out of our way for again are WCC, The Wave...and MAYBE 1900 Park Fare (we loved the characters, but the food was meh. Now that we have been there, I don't think we'll need to go back unless we are staying at GF).

Our home resort is VWL but even if it wasn't I would go there to go to Artist Point. It's phenomenal!!

I love Tonga Toast and make a trip to the Poly every trip for it!!::yes::

Boma, Sanaa, and Jiko, at AK Lodge, Kouzzina and Flying Fish at the Boardwalk, California Grill and the Wave at the Contemporary, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, Citricos at the Grand Floridian, and Kona at the Polynesian.

I have a lot of favorites, and don't mind spending the time going from the parks to the different resorts.
