Would something like this make you mad enough to sell your DVC contract?

Hi, Annie.
I saw this in the news the other day, and I was somewhat upset about it. That being said, I later learned that it was Miramax, the subsidiary of Disney. That eased my rage. If it were directly a 'Disney' film, I would be much more upset with the situation.

Come on... I live in Jersey and swim in the COLD ocean. No way I'm wearing Speedo's.

I wouldn't sell my contract, no. It doesn't even make me mad.

One of the cornerstones of this country is the right to free speech and the right to express yourself.

If you don't like the concept of the movie, don't buy a ticket. :o

The OP'er was talking about taking her right to dislike to a more extreme level then simply not buying a ticket. Not buying a ticket will tell Disney you didn't like the movie. Selling your membership tells them you feel so strongely over this issue that you're willing to sell one of your prized possesions.

We agree there, as that's exactly what everyone who posted in this thread is doing.

PS- Selling your DVC is also a way to express yourself.

Wonderful. Let her sell it. Disney won't even notice. But it would be her right to do so, just like you said.

So when it comes to the important issues in life, why bother caring enough to take a stand on princple because nobody's going to notice anyway. There's a concept that got us our freedom.

Love politic's on the DVC board. Her initial question was, "would it make you mad enough to sell your DVC contract." My answer was, "no". But if she has very strong principles and wants to sell because of a movie very few people will ever see, I think that's great. I just suspect, not many people care. And we certainly will see few, if anyone, sell their contracts over a Michael Moore flick. In fact, no one will sell their contracts over a movie. Well, it's back to Mickey & vacations. I'll leave the political discussions to others.

:D

Mmmm....makes me want to buy MORE points!

Nope, does not even make me mad. I do, however, find it very ironic that our President would go to war with a country to instill our belief system and has a hissy over a movie which is an expression of freedom of speech. Ah, the things that make you wonder.

Here's a copy of my post in the other discussion:
While it doesn't seem to be the popular view on this thread, there are, in fact, millions of people in the United States who think George W. Bush is an arrogant idiot, who took control of the country in a virtual coup with the help of supreme court justices put in place by his father and other republicans, and is responsible for pushing a bogus war for his own ends, and ruining the economy of the country while continuing to enrich the wealthy and big business at the expense of just about everyone else.

I think there are millions of us who would be proud of a media company that bankrolled Michael Moore's view of Dub-Ya. You know he's a real dummy when the dummy of him in Hall of the Presidents is more lifelike than the real thing.

It doesn't bother me in the least. Controversial subjects usually mean big $$$ at the box office. How in the world would selling my DVC ownership be a statement to Disney? Someone would either buy it, leaving it status quo as far as Disney is concerned, or Disney will exercise its ROFR, giving them even more potential for profit. Big Deal.

Funny, free speech is only for the benefit of Bush now?
