Would something like this make you mad enough to sell your DVC contract?

No, it's a free country, and I applaud anyone who exercises their rights, even though I may not applaud their opinions. Besides, DVC is my relaxation time and I look forward to it--I am not going to let anyone's opinions come between me and my "down" time.:p

I thought I saw this thread closed as well.

Perhaps it should simply be moved to the debate board for it's political content.

Everyone has the right to their own opinion about Bush and Mickey Mouse. I have friends who won't do any Mickey stuff. That is their right. I will never think that WDW is anything but a very family friendly place. Every business has some problems. I don't think these boards is a place for political conversation.

I won't sell my points, but if someone is so outraged that they would like to give away their points, I'm willing to sacrifice and take them off your hands. :p

I decided years ago to no longer spend money to watch the pompous jerks who make and act? in movies, so I had no idea who this Moore clown even was. I would rather save the money for more points.

Would not sell. I may think Moore is an idiot but again, if we all just flat quit paying our dues would be the only way to affexct the company in which case they would just take them back and resell the points, making more money.

It's kind of like asking if you would disown a cousin if he acted stupid. You may not associate with him but just say Hi at Christmas dinner, pass the turkey, turkey:D .

As Granny put it..
As we all know, Disney is part of a huge conglomerate. And various subsidiaries and fellow companies in that group will certainly do things that I find offensive.

When I'm on the beach overlooking Bay Lake with an adult beverage in hand, I'm not thinking that I'm subsidizing, agreeing with, or validating all the views expressed by Disney management.

I'm thinking that I'm on vacation with my family. And Disney does a great job of providing a quality vacation.

So no, I wouldn't sell.

DITTO!

Actually I think that Mr. Moore is entitled to this beliefs. I don't really agree with the current attitude of punishing people for their beliefs. It seems counter to the whole point of having freedom of speech. I mean it is not suppose to be freedom of speech only if you agree with me!

However, I am with HookdonWDW, I would be glad to accept your protest points. Just transfer them to my account! Thanks!

No, I would not sell my points in protest of movie project choices funded by Miramax.

I agree with earlier posters who feel that exposure to differing opinions, diverse points of view, and even differing versions of "the truth" is a good thing.

why would you sell your points?

Especially considering that DVD could exercise ROFR and buy your points for (as low as) $67 and turn around and sell them for $84...I'm sure that DVD would welcome such protest...

I think a better way to protest this as far as DVC is concerned would be to find MORE points at a price far below their current $84 asking price and help keep their main competition (resellers) in business...just my thought though.

Also, this Michael Moore thing is so far removed from DVC that it just doesn't make sense to protest this way.

I know that this is politics...and I am no Michael Moore fan...but I also don't like this whole mantra of "anyone who doesn't support the Bush administration is not patriotic / a true American / etc..."

Love Disney more than ever. Unless it were for need, I would never sell my points. In fact, I will buy more this year.

While I do not like Mike Moore, I would not sell my points because of this incident. However, if Disney developed a pattern of taking opposing views to issues I feel strongely about then I would no longer want Disney to profit from my spending habits. Maybe I'd sell my points, maybe I'd always trade out, I hope I never have to make that decision. I think all of us have a breaking point to where we say "enough is enough" and have to part ways with a person, place or thing. If the Mike Moore issue were to cause someone to sell their points, then I would applaud them for their convictions.

I support diversity of views and expression as long as people do not make fools of themselves. I do not support all of what President Bush does nor do I support what the Democrats do nor Michael Moore nor Disney etc.

However, I do support totally that they have the right to create, express, debate and support their views in a civil fashion.

So no something like this would not make me sell or otherwise change my plans.

Thanks

We've again begun to get posts that are off the topic of this thread.

They have been removed as promised.

If you wish to discuss the Michael Moore-Disney relationship, please feel free to add your comments to the thread already on the Debate Board.

Thanks!

I must say that i am heartned by what I have read thus far in this post....many may feel that the subject is off topic, but i think most people answered the way they feel....in all fairness, I dislike what is going on in the country to this point, but to see so many on this board supporting the right to have a differing opinion just makes me feel like this is a pretty decent set of people here....I dont think there is that much tolerance in the general public these days....but I think DVC represents quite the cross-section of opinions, and I think most of the posts I read on this topic show most beleive that Mr. Moore has a uncompromisable right to his opinion, and that must be protected.....to sell your points back is also your right....I'll give you $60 a point;) ;) ;)

gmboy, I'm not selling, I just asked if YOU would be mad enough to!;) I had posted that earlier, but somehow it got deleted!

I have also sent a PM to Doc to close this thread and hopefully it will be soon, since I've gotten my answer and don't want to attract any more political responses.

Thanks to all of you who responded in a sincere and unpolitical way!

I am closing this thread due to the request above by the original poster.
