I can't have red sauce (due to the acid) & we are ordering in pizza tonight. Would it taste ok if I ordered a small pizza for myself & asked for it to be made without sauce? Would it taste dry?

Thanks!

I think it would be dry. Maybe have them lightly brush the crust with olive oil before putting the toppings on?

Also, if you get different types of pizza they use things other than red sauce. Some pizza has a white sauce, like an alfredo. I once had a chicken broccoli pizza with white sauce and it was good. Or a bbq chicken pizza uses bbq sauce instead of red sauce.

If you can't do any of the above, I would just order without sauce. I'm sure it would taste fine.

Thank you! I would be fine with some olive oil brushed on it. I LOVE pizza, but the red sauce would make me sick for the rest of the night. Will try and see if they can do it with some garlic and oil.

My dad orders pizza without tomato sauce all the time cause the sauce disagrees with him. He orders double cheese and double bacon on it. It's not dry at all, just super greasy.

I'm used to a "California style" pizza that typically doesn't have any tomato-based sauce. It can be really good.

Not that Domino's is the standard, but they've been much better than in the past. I ordered last weekend, and they had a bunch of options for the base sauce - including a standard red sauce, marinara, BBQ sauce, garlic parmesan, and Alfredo.

We order pizza without sauce all the time at different restaurants. We don’t even miss the sauce.

My DH owned a pizza restaurant in a previous life decades ago so we have a pizza oven and usually make our own. My favorite pizza is to put olive oil on the crust and then to add some combination of marinated artichokes, kalamata olives, capers, feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, onions, spinach, roasted red peppers. It's always a big hit at parties.

Red sauce is near the bottom of my list, too much acid and WAAAAAAAY too much sugar... I'd rather have pesto, white pizza, BBQ sauce, or my favorite - Thai peanut sauce!

I actually did not miss the sauce at all! It was completely tasty with just the cheese & toppings. I've ordered it with no sauce & just garlic oil & liked that as well. I think BBQ sauce & Thai peanut sauce would also give me reflux, but pesto would probably be fine!

Look up what “pizza bianca” is. There’s a long tradition of pizza without any tomato sauce.

Pizza here doesn’t have sweet sauce, unless it’s a chain.

Virtually all tomato-based sauces have a ton of sugar. You can't always taste it as "sweet" though, since the acid mitigates that a bit - especially if you eat a lot of processed foods, which dull your ability to taste sugar (because sugar is in most of those foods).
