Worth the Hassle?

My friend and I are doing Free Dining at CSR 9/5/07 - 9/12/07. I could save myself about $170. if we moved over to OKW in a studio for the last 3 nights. Is it worth the hassle to move over? I have never stayed at OKW and only have enough points left for the studio. Are the balcony's full size? That is the one thing I am going to really miss while staying at CSR. We are renting a car, so luggage transfer is not an issue. Is OKW any nicer than CSR?

Won't you spend at least that amount in food if you change resorts.. You can't get free dining using points at OKW so will have food costs to add in. The food plan for those days would cost $228 for those three days for 2. The balconyies at OKW studios are big enough for two chairs and most have a view of a lot of vegetation. They are on the ends of the buildings. They have 2 queen beds, a good sized bathroom and a small kitchenette with a coffee maker, toaster, refrigerator, microwave etc. Have never stayed at CSR so can't say if it would be worth changing resorts.

I think OKW is worth any hassle, but that's just me - LOVE the place.

Yes, you will have a full balcony (or patio if you are on the first floor).

That being said, I don't think I quite get your question. You can't get free dining when you are staying on points. Are you talking about moving to OKW after free dining? Lots of us have noticed that we save money (in your case $170) by staying at DVC without free dining. That's why some of us think it isn't "free". By paying full rack rate you are paying for dining - it's just part of the room bill.

Sorry for the confusion - I knew what I meant, but let me clarify.

I would stay at CSR with the free dining for 4 nights. Then move over to OKW using my points - no free dining. I would only have to pay for the DDP for myself. My friend would pay for her own. (You see, this is the best part about going with a friend and not the whole family - save mucho money ) My share, per night, for CSR is $80. with free DDP. My share per night at OKW is only the DDP cost. AND, my friend would reimburse me $50. towards the OKW part of the trip; thus $170. savings.

The answer, imho, is YES, change to OKW. I love CSR, it is my fav mod, but a studio at OKW is huge in comparison, and of course has the patio.

Plus, you get to try two diff resorts, AND, you get $170 in extra cash.

we change resort every year and don't find it a hassel at all
