Wonder in Alaska!!! May 27, 2013

Hi all - we just booked this cruise today.:cool1: We did the Inaugural Alaska back in 2011, so really look forward to returning on this trip! We'd like to be in on the FE's this time - didn't know about them last time and they looked like so much fun!

Melissa aka GeauxYeaux
DH and DS (age 12)

Welcome!! We were on that cruise with you! Looking forward to meeting you this time and we are doing the FE's too! Aloha, Karen and Ron:hug:

Just curious if a date has been decided on when people will no longer be able to join FE. What is the typical?

I live in Tucson and we have the International Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show taking place right now. I ran across a booth with tiaras yesterday and picked up some extras so if anyone would like a tiara, let me know. They are all lovely and each one is a different design. The price is $8. Right now, I have 10 extra but if I have more interest, I'll go back and buy more. I'll need to know by Friday of this week. First come, first served.

I love this idea!

Thanks for doing this for the group. $8 is a great price.

Normally the last day to sign up is April 1st.. but every time I have done the FE I get a bunch of requests to have people added. ( it is up to you if you want to add them after the cut off date.) :)

Hey Marise-
There are actually several casinos there. I would post the links to them, but I am unable to due to me being a newbie on here. I didn't check all of the sites, but the River Rock Casino has rules for its blackjack tables on there.

Thanks for this suggestion! We just booked the River Rock Casino Resort for the saturday and sunday before the cruise. :yay:

For anyone else looking for a hotel, they have pretty good rates if you book 90 days in advance (although the rates have already gone up since the first time I checked). And since it's close to the skytrain we're not going to bother renting a car for those two days.

I would definitely love to have one! Please PM me if you would like me to mail you the money first! What a great idea!! ALOHA, Karen:goodvibes

Karen, I won't collect until we are on the ship. You're the first. Nine more left but I can get more.

Hi,

If any Platinum or Concierge members have booked the Enchanted Taku Glacier Lodge Flight & 5-Glacier Seaplane Discovery excursion, would you be able to tell me at what times it is offered? I am trying to book it AND a whale watching tour for our group on the same day. I'm pretty sure if I can book the 8:30 tour, then we would have enough time for a private charter whale watching tour of 2.5 hours before having to be back on the ship. While I can book it directly through the seaplance company, I'd prefer to book it through DCL if it is available.

Six more days until I can book, so trying to tie up loose ends in my planning before hitting the phone.

Thank you.

Lisa

Thanks for the tip! That looks like an awesome place to stay and it is very close to the airport! We are flying in Saturday as well, and after a night up in Whistler, we are currently booked to stay at The Sandman Signature Hotel on Sunday night. The rates at the River Rock are cheaper though (especially with their preferred member price). We are getting together as a family this weekend, so perhaps we will reconsider where we will be staying. Either way, I am totally making a pit stop at the casino! :thumbsup2

:upsidedow And here I was thinking it was your tip :)
Yeah the price worked out great for us. Since we're six people we went for the two bedroom suite for less per person than getting two rooms almost anywhere else. Hope to see you at the casino! :goodvibes

Also just in case anyone had the same questions I did about taking the skytrain from the airport to the cruise terminal, I did a little research on the subject and thought I would share. On a different site a person posted pictures and instructions:

http://picasaweb.google.com/vancouvercruise/CanadaLineYVRToCanadaPlaceWaterfrontStation

"At YVR simply follow the crowd of people toward the car park out of the international arrivals. As soon as you cross the street, take the elevator or escalator to the top floor (of the car park), which is where the station is. Skytrain takes you all the way downtown to 'Waterfront Station'. At the final stop, DON'T follow the mass crowd down the hallway, but do a 180 and there's an elevator/stairs "Exit to Granville Street", take that and you're at the corner of Granville and W.Hastings. From there you should be able to see your ship at Canada Place (which will be 2 blocks north, 1 west of where you are)."

Hi everyone,

I'm putting together a bunch of information for a bunch of us that are taking this cruise in July. I was wondering if anyone on this cruise could scan in and post their Navigators after this cruise so we can plan accordingly? I've got last year's Navigators, but that is when they cruised out of Seattle.

Thanks in advance.

Cindy

If any one is interested, I booked with Hotwire last night for stay in Vancouver before cruise. Hotel was listed as Vancouver Downtown - Coal Harbour - Stanley Park area hotel, 4 stars (I believe it said 90% rating) for $138 total a night. I got Coast Coal Harbour Hotel. Looks very nice and only about a 10 minute walk to Canada Place.

I'll most likely be scanning them in with my trip report :thumbsup2 (I did this last time we went on a cruise). :)

Thanks for the great tip! I'm looking to give my family a recommendation for their post cruise stay in Vancouver. Would you mind sharing with which site you booked your stay?

I used Hotwire.com. If you are not familiar with this site, you can book a hotel at a great rate. The only catch is you do not know the hotel until you pay, and non-refundable. It tells you the star rating and guest approval rating. You can also narrow it down by areas and amenities. I have been doing some research, and I am not certain, but it seems to me that the hotel you will get is actually listed under, "see hotels in this class". What I have found is if I compare the listed hotel on hotwire to Expedia and pick all the amenities, area, star rating, and guest approval, you can find it on expedia. Like I said, I am not certain, but it seems like it to me. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to help

Wow, what a strange concept. No I had never used hotwire before. I will definitely look into this. Thanks for the info!
