Wk of May 13--WISH Walking/Running Club

Renee Thanks for the encouragement.

I managed to get in 2 miles yesterday after all.:cool1:

Watch for my new clippie next week. No time to get it going this weekend. But hopefully I will get in a couple of runs.

One of the women I have confided in will be visiting this weekend and she is such an encourager I know I will be pumped when she leaves. (Did you ever notice that the root word for encourage is "courage"?)

Later,
Dona

Completed week 6 of 13 today! :woohoo:

I had to R3/W1 for 40 minutes. I ended up going 3.43 miles at an average pace of 11:42. (A good pace for me!)

For my LR on Sunday I have to up to R10/W1 for 55 minutes. This will be the longest I've worked out since I started this program and the most I've done so far is R5/W1 so I'm EXTREMELY SCARED! :scared:

Wish me luck! :wizard:

Duane, hope your surgery goes well! :goodvibes

Dona WTG on your training! Lots of :wizard: !

Christa - I'm not sure if you saw this in RW or not but this group showed that going out "too fast" is better for a 5K. You do slow down but it's faster overall than going out slower and building speed. The race is too short to make up the time you could gain by busting it right out of the gate.
Thanks Mike, Bill and Dave. I did read this and that is why on my practice run I went out full force.....we will see.

OK to all you pig lovers! I have PIG pictures!
But after trying and trying...this site will not let me upload them!?!?! OOC! I will get DH to help me later!

Go Christa, :cool1:
Go Christa, :cool1:
Go Christa, :cool1:
I'm very excited to hear how your 5K goes. I'm betting under 24 min!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Oh, I just remembered, I had a dream where I was reading the results of the WDW Full Marathon and Christa you came in 7th place in the women's standings. I remember thinking we on the WISH team were so excited that you finished in the top 10 for the women.

Greetings Racing Team -

I guess I can post today, as I actually DID train this morning. Although, it was nothing you could call "rod worthy". Actually, now that I think about it, I'm too embarrassed to even post what it was. :sad2: So let's just say I got the steps in, and leave it at that.

At any rate, we did finally get our power back. Ahhh! Running water! What a luxury! I feel so clean today! :thumbsup2

I have a ToT13k question.... What does everyone plan on doing for dinner that night? We don't have any plans at all for the day...yet... except a nap in the afternoon. We usually eat dinner around 7:30 but I figure we'll probably have to be over at MGM sometime around then. I'd like to make ADRs for an earlier dinner, but I'm not sure where yet.... Charlie wants Mexican, but, well, I don't know if that is such a good idea. Just when I finally get the "What do you eat before a 6:00am race" thing figured out, I go and register for a 9:30 at night race. :confused3

TGIF! Well, maybe not considering it's soccer tournament weekend AND DD gets confirmed. We will be running around all over!! I think I'm literally going to have to get up before the sun tomorrow if I want to get in my 6 miles.

Today I XT'd on the bike and weights. Easy day!

Stacey - I love running outside! Around here the honeysuckle is blooming and it smells so good as you run by it!
Cindy - Glad to hear your leg injury is better and you're back at it
Jen - Have fun with your kids' race! Is it this weekend?
Kristi - I have become a firm believer in XT. I didn't do it last year for the half and I'm doing it this year. I'm faster and I feel better. 8 hours of sleep? I'll take 9, thanks!
Leana - Hate it when a good run is followed by a bad! But remember, tough runs make tough runners.
Duane - Prayers for your surgery!
Lily -Congrats on signing up for the ToT 13K! I haven't signed on the dotted line yet.
Bill - You overslept?!? You posted at 5:59 a.m.!
Dave - The Garmin rebate was good through May 15. I found out about it on the 17th!!
Cecilia - You are an athlete! My family is finally realizing that I am, too!
Dona -Congrats on getting out and getting in a run!
Shan - Good luck!
Christa - Hope your 5K goes well!!
Judy - I agree it's tough to figure out how to do meals before a night race. I'm thinking maybe a bigger lunch and a light dinner?

Hope everyone has a great weekend; good luck to all who are racing!

Renee

Greetings team!

I did 4 "easy" miles today and then some weight work. I'm trying toget my everday pace up to under 9:00, that way the sub-4 might be in my future as well. Yesterday, did some yoga--made feel all loosey-goosey afterward. Kinda nice--my only issue with yoga is trying not to laugh when the instructor names the positions--come on "Proud Pigeon":rotfl2:

Christa--lots of PD for your 5K--I need you to go sub 24:00 so I have a new goal to shoot for!;)

duane--good luck with your surgery and hope the recovery is quick

Judy--steps are steps no matter how "worthy" you think they are!

Dave--wow, Christa in the top 10!! :woohoo:

Well, I should go take the kiddos outside to burn off some energy. It's beautiful today. Need to enjoy it while I can, cuz' Walgreen's is going to suck all the life out of me this weekend!:sad2: Gotta replenish my Disney fund somehow though!

Good luck to all racing this weekend!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Ahhh, but the Disboards clock is about 40 minutes slow.

Bill

It is 40 min slow! What is up with that?!?!:confused3 But still that is early!

Judy - Getting the steps in is very important! Congrats for doing it!

Stephanie - GIRL! You are worried about getting your pace down? You are the wind! In you future..I see...a sub 4!:rolleyes1

Renee - Lots of :wizard: :wizard: for your busy weekend!

Good luck Christa! :wizard:

I'm so jealous you got your skirt. I ran out to the mailbox when the postman came thinking for sure it would be in there, but alas - only bills.

Darlin'....you're a size TWO. There is NO WAY you have a big ol' butt. :goodvibes
Whoo hoooo! :cool1: Here we go, more running skirt discussions... :cool1: Yeah, bring it on! popcorn:: popcorn:: This is like the sequel to the running bra discussion.  Vic- you out there? What do you think of the running skirts? Do you think they'll fit?

Hi folks, happy Friday! Monday is a holiday for us up here (Victoria Day), so I took today off to hang out with my mom and make an extra long weekend out of it. We were running around doing errands and I asked her if she would mind coming out to the 5.5K with me next weekend to cheer me on at the finish and snap a few pictures. She thought about it and said she'd like to walk the 5.5K, so instead my DB and DSIL will be fulfilling race photographer duty! We ran down to the Tech Shop to sign her up because tomorrow the registration price is going up. They had some excellent deals on winter running clothing so I picked up a pair of warm Sugoi winter tights.

Dave, thanks for asking, my 4 miler yesterday went really well. I finished in 46:41 for an 11:39/mi pace. Let's compare that to Tuesday's 48:23 and 12:06/mi pace.... Much better! This morning was Jiggle Free Buns for a lower body weight workout.

Lily, Jackie, Cecilia, Christa - Thanks for all the pointers on the Goofy training. I'll be sure to revise my training schedule accordingly!

Shan - Excellent pace! Way to go!

Dona - Have a great weekend with your friend, and good luck with the running.

Judy - I booked Mama Melrose for 6 pm before ToT. I figured it would be a good spot to carbo load (I just will be careful how much I eat...) and then we can hang out at the park until the race starts.

Renee - Good luck getting your 6 miler in this weekend. That's what I have on tap for this weekend too!

Duane - Best of luck with your surgery and recovery!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

OK, I'm waking up and fueling up before my LR this morning. I'm not planning on running really long. I'm still in recovery mode from the Flying Pig Half, and taking the advice I've read which is to give myself approximately 1 day to recover for each mile I raced. So I'm waiting 2 weeks before I start doing any really long runs or speedwork, etc. I'm still trying to keep running a minimum of 20 miles/week though, so I'll run 5 miles this morning.

Yesterday I did 5 miles in 44:38 min (8:53 mpm) along the Erie Canal trail. It was a beautiful run, perfect weather, and great to be out in nature. It felt good. I did lots of stretching when I got home.

The princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:, were held up running errands with DW, so they didn't end up training. That's OK, they're ready for the race on Sunday. We need to pick up our packets and numbers today.

Have great runs out there everyone.

Lily- Have a great trip to Cancun!
