Wk of Mar 16 - WISH Walking/Running Club

And I hate to rub this in (Kristi) but I got my finisher's certificate yesterday. :thumbsup2
Whatever!
I got mine today too, missy!

Going to fitness yoga tonight.
Well, IF our furniture delivery ever comes, that is.

And, forgetting to eat? HA!!! :lmao:

Hey guys!!! It is so nice here today. It's in the low 70s, but WINDY!!! 20 mph winds w/ gust up to 40 mph tonigh.

I found out Monday that my boss, whom I LOVE so much...:lovestruc is resigning! :scared1: He's decided he would like to spend more time with his aging parents and his with his young kids. Apparently he's made some good financial decisions over the years so he'll become a soccer dad for a while. So, yesterday and today I've not been too motivated to get up and get my hiney into work on time.

We were late today and I didn't want to fight myself when I got home to make myself get my run in (only 2 miles) so I decided to bring my clothes with me to work...Long story short, I went out at 2pm, did my 2 miles with a 14:16 pace! This...with the 20 mph winds! :upsidedow I walked a lot, but my last few workouts have been horrible, pace above 15, so for now...I'll take it. This running during work this isn't somthing I'd like to do too often...bird-bath in the ladies room... but at least I don't smell yucky! :goodvibes

Cecilia... for you and your dad!!! :wizard: for him. I'm so sorry hear what is going on.

Dana...Yay for signing up for the Minnie!!! Great job on your run and pace.

Amy... I'm sure your body is very happy with the rest day today!!! Enjoy your time with your neice! Here's some :wizard: for tonight.

Scott...I have no idea what kind of gel it was. It's now long gone into the trash! I hope your 5K goes well this weekend. I know you'll do great for the 1/2! Congrats on signing up!

Deb...Great run girl! I'm so glad you've had some good workouts!

I'm not one of those folks who forgets to eat! I can't stop!!! :goodvibes

Stacie

Cecilia: SOrry to hear about your Father's fight with Cancer, I wish you all the best with the fight. Lots of :grouphug: :grouphug: !!!

I got my finishers certificate for the WDW Half last week.

Congrats to all who received their WDW certificates!

Stephanie, how’s that knee after today’s run?

Angie, Yay! for a better day today.

Cecilia, I am sorry to hear about your Dad. PD that things work so he can see you marathon. Forget to eat? Nevah!

Judy, Yay! for rest days. Hope you enjoyed the “rest.” Still figure you don’t get much rest when you are taking care of the girls a.m./p.m chores.

Scott, nice sappiness. That was a great thing to say.

Amy, sorry about your friend. I’m glad you got to be with the baby for a bit. They always bring smiles.

Angie, Force yourself to eat? Nevah! Enjoy this time. It will probably change and you’ll be fighting like so many of us. Really enjoy your time!

Dana, you too? Forget to eat? Nevah!

Carrie, If the yoga class was an easy one, I hope you did enjoy it and get out of it what you needed nonetheless. Good luck with your run tonight.

Kristi, so hoping that the furniture delivery came so you could get in your w/o.

Stacie, I’m sorry to hear that you are losing your boss. I know this kind of change is stressful. WISHing that you get through the transition well. Good for you getting your steps in WTG!

It rained until about 4:00p.m. today then it began snowing. We’ve got accumulation! The coyote that got my min pin Missy on 12/28 was found today. Animal Control Officer has had a cage/trap set since Jan and nothing. He comes to the door 8:30 a.m. today and asked DH if he wanted to see. It was in the back of his vehicle. Coyote met its demise with a car a couple of doors over from us not too long before we saw the remains. We breathe easier in the neighborhood until another takes over its turf. Maybe this new resident won’t be as bold.

I got in my TM steps today and feeling stronger every time!

Dave: Ooh, a sneaky TM WO for a sneaky--and speedy--Panda. I say that doing speed work like that will definitely help you with this year's goals! :goodvibes

Dana: Getting to do the Minnie? That's great news & :cool1: for having your DH's support! And that 7:16 mile. Take it & run with it! (Where else can I drop in a pun like that and get away with it?)

Amy: I believe in the Chi, too! I think it has a lot to do with my feeling good when I run--if for no other reason than it makes me pay attention to what I'm doing. It's affecting my walking, too! :thumbsup2 More important, WTG on the pace! I just knew is would happen for you!!! You're in great shape for the Minnie!

Oh, I just read your second post. I'm sorry about your friend, and I hope the memorial service will help everyone who attends celebrate your friend's life and to mourn together.

Angie: Oh, I hope your runs continue to get better and stay better. I'm so glad that you're determined to work through them, though, and to analyze what works for you. And remember to eat, eat! Food is Fuel, right Connie? I know what you mean about liking to train with your DH & missing his presence; I value the time DOOD and I can train together. It's changed our relationship for the better.

Jeff: Oh, I don't know. I kinda like the Peep better. :rotfl: Seriously, what an impressive tattoo! Both yours and Mel's have great colors & lines. Same artist?

Lily: The ark might have to swing by here after...

Stephanie: Glad to hear you rested the knee. How did the WO go?

Cecilia: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your DD. I'll keep you both in my thoughts, and hope & pray for the best.

Judy: Aww, thank YOU for the compliment. :flower3: Enjoy your rest day--you deserve it!

Scott: Yeah, my tiredness came & went--it was quite a swing in energy between those two days. :confused3 Oh, and I just wanted to say that I've been quite impressed with the way you and Amy are so supportive of one another; you both kind of sum up what WISH is to me. So congrats on signing up for the ING; Amy will be with you in spirit, I'm sure--as will we all!

Carrie: I'm glad your yoga was easy & rejuvenating. I hope your run is pleasant, if somewhat brisk. (I'll hope for a heat wave for you, though.)

Kristi: Yeah for your certificate! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the furniture delivery.

Stacie: Awww about your loss of a good boss--they can be hard to find. (Good for him, though.) Nice pace, especially with the wind. And bird bath the the ladies room? Too funny!

Lily: Sounds like your weather is headed our way. (Love Cleveland anyway!) Good news from Animal Control. And best of all, yea for your TM steps! Are you still feeling good, I assume?

As for me: Today was supposed to be a run, but as usual it was raining--harder than normal, with flood warnings all over the TV. So I went to the gym--as usual. Except it was really crowded, with ALL the TMs taken for the first 1/2 of my WO. So I bagged the run as my legs were already tired and I'm not confident enough to "man up" like that yet. I bargained with myself--I'm going to run tomorrow. Even though I don't like to mess with my training schedule for Cleveland, running tomorrow will give me a rest day before Saturday's LR so I should be fine.

Lily... DId you just add your photo to your sig?? It's always great to put a face with the name.

Thanks, everyone, for your compliments on the tattoos that Mel and I got. We really appreciate it! Yes, we had the same artist; he did both free-hand and we're really happy with the way they turned out!

Now Mel is thinkin' about the NEXT one....:sad2:

Ooops, I forgot to post yesterday.

I got in a quick 4 miles Tuesday before heading off to a Girl Scout Leaders service unit meeting. Hot weather, tired legs. Oh well, I got it done.

Today, I took the Princesses to the beach so #1 could practice for her triathalon. We saw a group of kids training, and talked to their coach who said there are a team of kids that practice and race together. Will consider signing her up depending on their days and times they meet.

I'm still trying to get through watching the Chi Running DVD. Will let y'all know when I'm done with it.

Hope everyone has good weather, fun training, and great racing.

It has been a quiet week so far but I think the weekend will cure that. I gave up looking at the calendar and decided to just go where I am told at any moment. Less stress that way. :lmao:

Timmy had his checkup and the doctor said his ears were clear. Hopefully they will stay this way for a while. Now if we can just get those teeth through. He is also getting bolder in his walking so the house is doomed now. :rolleyes1

Cecilia - So sorry to hear about your dad. I hope that he is able to make it to your marathon to see you finish. :grouphug:

Lily - Hope the storms missed you. I heard bad things about Ohio today on the news so hope you aren't doing any unplanned water running. Glad they were able to catch the offender even if it wasn't quite how they expected.

Mel - Got a tattoo huh...Guess we know where Lenna got the Wild part from. ;) So where is the peep to compare sizes with and I don't think it was ever clarified as to where it was. Poor OptiMike might go crazy trying to figure it out. :rolleyes1

TiggerJeff - Following peer/spouse pressure. Nice tattoo though, although I can say I probably won't follow suit. Something about not being fond of needles hampers that a bit.

Debra - Sorry the gym was so crowded. Hope the storms missed you as well. I think we are just supposed to get scattered showers with our nice warm weather. I guess come June through November eveyone else will have a nice time while we are sweating through any hurricanes.

Kristi - If the furniture doesn't come in time, then just move it in yourself. Having moved enough furniture I would definately count that as a workout. :rotfl:

Stacie - Sorry that your boss is resigning. Hope the new one is just as good.

Judy - Glad to see that you are able to move around now. No more white out repeats, it is way to close to Minnie to have you down for the count.

Dana - Great job on the TM. That is a great pace and congrats on going to Minnie. You will be burning up the course.

Amy - Sorry to hear about your friend. Hope the memorial service was a nice one.

Scott - Congrats on taking the plunge for the half. Hope it goes well for you without your running partner.

Angie - Hope you get your runs figured out. I usually don't have a problem with not eating although there are times that when I get around to it, it is almost time for the next meal. For some reason those 5 minute tasks/chores seem to last forever. :lmao:

WWDave - Walked a 10 minute pace for a while. :worship: I have times where running that fast is almost impossible. You will be blazing by everyone at Minnie now.

PatsBill - Good to see you back here. Don't stay away too long or Pandas might take over. We need all the help we can get to keep them under control.

For the people who are missing, Steve and Krista, Cam, Craig and Martha (I know they are on a trip overseas ignoring us) and others, hope you are doing well and come back soon.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Bill

Kristi - If the furniture doesn't come in time, then just move it in yourself. Having moved enough furniture I would definately count that as a workout. :rotfl:
I will be moving around furniture today. Apparently, I thought Zack's room was bigger than it is. It is very squishy now. I am hoping we are just not used to that much furniture since his room was a mish-mash of hand-me-down stuff before. So, today I am planning to swap the bunkbeds with the tall dresser & monstrously huge desk to see if that works better. In any case, the rug rat is absolutely thrilled to have bunkbeds to climb!

The new kitchen table and chairs also are a bit much for the area. But that's doable since I can take out the leaf and put 2 of the 6 chairs aside unless we need them. (was planning to leave the leaf in, but whatever!)

Amy - So sory about your friend.

Debra - Hope teh run goes well tonight!

Lily -SOrry about teh harsh demise of teh coyote, but glad your world is safer for now!

Kristi - be careful with all that furniture moving!

Bill - Hope teh doc has good news!

Stacie - So aorry about your boss. That stinks!

Well, I whimped out last night on teh run. Was so tired that I was worried about pushing too much. Dh had teh brilliant idea to walk instead. hat felt good. I was tired enough after that I was glad I didn't run, but at least I got my steps in for teh 50 min I was supposed to do.

Hey Team - Guess what I did last night... I RAN OUTSIDE!!!!! We are still getting snow here (really sick of it!), but it was about 40 degrees yesterday so I pulled on the tights and swoosh pants and long sleeves and a jacket and ear warmers and gloves..... and I did just under 3 miles. It was slow going because I had to take tip toe walks over some ice in areas... but I did it. It was harder than I thought it would be. I'm not sure if it was because I was wearing a closet or because I haven't been on the road since WDW?????

Carrie - Sometimes I have those days. The good thing is that you didn't blow it off totally! WTG!'

Kristi - Holy Furniture Batman!!! My kids room is crowded too, once we got two beds and dressers in there I wondered where the room went to!

Debra - You have flooding, we have snow. But at least you tried!! Our gym has been packed lately also. Really annoying when I just want to get it done!!!

OK, work has been insane. We have some cuts here because of the economy, so I have even more things piled on my desk!!!!

Jen - WTG on teh outside run! Remember, your body has to work harder int eh cold and you are wearing several mmorelayers. So, even though it seems like you shoudl be speedy, because you're so happy to be outside, your time will still not be what you want. It'll come, though, once it gets a little warmer. SO sorry about teh extra work. You don't need that.

Carrie - I was so puffy from the clothes I was wearing that my DD asked why I was wearing snow pants!! :lmao:

Greetings Race Team -

3.2 miles this morning. I felt strong and well rested. :thumbsup2 I'm having a stupid pain on the side of my third toe which I can't figure out. Most annoying. There is no mark or blister or redness. Who knows.:confused3

Having major issues at work which have GOT to stop because it's taking away from my DIS time. :headache:

Happy training all! :yay:

Oh oh! "Chilly rain" predicted for Saturday morning. I don't care! I'm running outside I don't care what happens!!! I'm envious Jen! I've GOT to get out there!!! :woohoo:

Good morning Wish Team.

Well spring is here now we just have to slap the darn weather person around till they give us our good weather, to get outside and do our walks and runs. I think all of us are tired of the frozen winter weather we had and the seemingly endless rain.

This is going to be an awesome year for all of us, remember you heard it here first. We are all going to accomplish even more than we hoped. For some of us it's a year of healing and coming back stronger than ever.

Walk/run strong y'all, or heal strong if your ailing.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Happy spring all! :flower: I'm thinking of using some of the hot air blowing around my workplace to melt the remaining snow outside!

Cecilia Best thoughts/prayers sent you and your dad's way. I understand your pain.

Lily Glad your coyote is gone and hope no others come back. I can';t decide whether my dog Buddy would try to make friends with it or chase it if one ever ventured our way. Unlikely to find out in our part of SE MI--but all those squirrels and rabbits better watch out!

Debra Don't you just hate it when people take "your space" at the gym? Even though (Especially since) TM running is not the funnest thing to do, I have my one TM that I like--right in front of the TV that shows ESPN.

Chi Runners I've got the book and will read it on the flight to Vegas/Utah tomorrow. What's the single best thing you learned from this?

Anyone I am usually somewhat adept at acronyms/shorthand, but what does DOOD stand for?

Tomorrow, we're off to Utah for a nice, little vacation and hopefull some weather that really does shout SPRING!!!

Maura
