Shan: It's very cool that DH caught the Thunderbirds on video. We missed them while we were there. How's your leg doing, btw?
Mel: I do hope you're feeling better by now. It sucks about your experience, everything from how you felt to being so close to PRing your 10 miler. I believe you're owed a PR on your next LR!
I love your thoughts about the future of WISH. I do think we have quite a presence at events, if my meager experience is any indication. Whenever I wear the shirts, at least one person approaches me & I'm more than happy to talk endlessly about how much difference WISH has made in my life. I think your plans for long-term growth & organization, although I know they're in the early stages, would really benefit all of us.
Tracy: Your IBS must make it incredibly difficult to train.

for your dedication! And a big congratulations on your pace &

for the relief that comes from knowing you won't be swept.
Dave: Walking after a meal. (And in my case, during!) Chalk that up to a big PR reason to be a walker!

I don't have any stories about being a WISH member like the one you told about the man at the ToT event, but it's that kind of story that makes me want to wear lime green every day!
Jeff: But you WOULD be a natural at the tourist/convention bureau. I didn't know how badly I needed to visit Hawaii until I saw your pictures.

And then you follow it up by appealing to my Lostie sensibilities. It sounds like you had a great weekend, what with the biking, hiking, running, and overall Princess-time.
So, what's are you going to say to the Queen when you show up with a tat? "Gee, Queenie, in a post-run induced haze, I accidentally stumbled into a tattoo parlor & fell on the artist's needle. And as luck would have it, the markings came out looking like Mickey.

I guess I'll have to keep it, huh?"
Claire: How cool that you learned how to salsa. You must be naturally graceful in addition to being athletic. As far as themes for your Masquerade themed spring banquet. First, how fun! I would think it might be really cool to do a Lion-King/Julie Taymor kind of mask?? Alternately, perhaps something inspired from The Hunchback of Notre Dame/Festival of Fools?
Terri: WTG with finishing off your list (and 23 things!

) I'm glad you're settling into your new work and that graduation is on the horizon. More training & DIS time approaches rapidly, I hope.
Craig:
Pain is transitory, but glory is forever.
You are SO going to rock the Minnie. You've got the training, you've got the experience, you've got attitude.
Becky: I'm not sure about how your training will affect your pace, but doing your LRs outside probably prepares your legs/knees for the distance so that you'll be less sore afterwards. Of little comfort at you're icing them currently, I know, but...at least you're in taper?? And you shaved 16 minutes off last year's Minnie pace!
Vic: All Mel's fault? I think she can handle the responsibility as we all lknow you need someone to look after you.

Very cool tattoo, btw! And now you need to be the 2nd person
Jen blames. Oh, Je-en!
TXAng: Sorry, no help here. I think you need to do the DL Half, if for no other reason than Sean might as well get started on his Disney fixation early. Plus, I think Mickey needs to meet Sean, too! And think how many WISHers would want to welcome him as a new, if inexperienced, teammate! Oh, and WTG with C25K W1D3!
Maura: I think we all need to find a balance between our physical and mental training needs. You obviously needed to run in order to be in a good place for the Minnie. And you did it! You sound ready for anything now, so I'm very happy for you!

Now...just be sure to really take care of yourself physically; maybe even a bit of pampering is in order.
Amy: Like Maura, you sound like you're in a good place mentally for the Minnie. That's very good to hear. I think with some more tapering you should do well--remember to hang out with Craig, who'll get you stoked for a PR!
Martha: Ouch for the ITB. I hope it doesn't affect your Minnie too much.
If that's what they want of the place, go with God, but I want a gym.

OMG, your "go with God" just made me do that barking laugh of mine. Like you, I want a gym, which is pretty much I've lucked into except for the pool which is always filled with young'uns. Now if they would just get discourage the pick-up crowd from hanging on the machines...
Angie: I'm so glad you're finding your happy place with the Minnie event--it's WDW! And doing so will help you find a happy pace, too--I'm sure of it! Just keep taking care of your back, going easy on the runs (and take time off), and see what happens in a few days. I think you've been doing solid rehab work, so I have my fingers crossed for you. And I'm very glad to hear your first day was as over-the-top as your smilies could indicate.
Allyson: It sounds like there's a tattoo in your future, too. It's just a matter of time. Thank you for your report on the Boston Marathon--I find the atmosphere at marathons to be inspiring & addictive. I watched for years until the desire to participate finally overwhelmed me. (Of course, the story I tell is that participating meant I was excused from the pressure of navigating races with my ILs as we attempted to locate DOOD on the course. Take your pick as to the more truthful story.

)
Carrie: I think it's awesome that you attended a meet to support DH's colleague's sons, especially because you don't have a team of your own to really root for. I know the boys appreciated it. And

for going through with your 8 miler, and managing neg. splits, on a very busy weekend that involved emotionally and physically exhausting events.
CarolA: Woo hoo working from SSR (and DISing). Not so woo hoo for the calves hurting, but hopefully the massage will help. (Can't hurt, huh?)
Dana: Happy Birthday!!!!
What a great birthday gift, getting to go to the Minnie alone without the kids. You so deserve it--I just wish you hadn't had such a rough time of things coming up to your birthday.
Tricia: What a cool idea for your tattoo as a running log (sorry) of your race distances. Your body art as a work in progress, just like your body (and all of our bodies). I'd love to see a picture!
Christa: I'm so glad you, DH, DM and DD got to see
Wicked and enjoyed it. I know you and your DM are so close & so it's really cool that you got to spend some theatrical time together off stage. And with no drama. (Okay, so it's a punny day for me folks, it happens!)
Patricia: What a great way to put things. Running is a commitment to ourselves, isn't it. And you're SO WORTH IT! Congrats on doing C25K W1D1.
Frank: Congratulations on your back-to-back races. I think both race times are phenomenal. Isn't the excitement surrounding the Minnie addictive? I know I'm in for the Minnie next year because of everyone's discussions. Going on the podcast cruise sounds like a great way to double up!
Amps: Ugh, dehydration. I'm glad nothing horrible happened on your training run & that you figured this out before your Ottawa Half Marathon. I'm a Sports Beans girl, myself.
Judy: The advice is far easier to give than to take, but do get some rest & take care of that hamstring. I'm so glad Dr. Calcio has your back. If it helps you any, I just KNOW you can do the Minnie.
Liz: I, too, love the idea of training & information sessions. We have so many brilliant, experienced WISHers here that are so generous with their time and knowledge. They help build the momentum of the group. Thanks for the reminder about the Core group--I need to get my butt, er abs, over there.
Kristi: How exciting to know Boston participants! I'm sorry about your missing motivation--I think all of us go through that. And you always have so much on your plate. Your plan to sign Zack up for Fitness U is excellent--it sounds like a lot of fun for the kids. Get him hooked on the bling, that's what I say!
Scott: I've had some wireless issues this weekend--on and off, off and on. Kind of like my personality.

But I was in the middle of posting to the weekly thread when I saw you snuck in right before me, so I had to read your always-witty observations before finishing. My day's not complete without a Scott's World post, you know! (Must visit blog, must visit blog.)
Have you done the 600 miles of Tour de Georgia or are you going to do it? It seems to be within your reach if you're doing 20 miles biking one day, 10 miles of running the next. Tell you what--you do days 1-3 for me, then I'll be able to do Stage 4 without much problem as it's 2.5 miles. You can finish Stages 5-6, since you'd have recovered, and I'll take Stage 7 for the glory.
As for me: Unfortunately, I had a shoddy 6 miler this weekend: heavy legs in the beginnning, fatiqued & achy by the end. I ended up almost going slower by 30 seconds per mile slower than my regular pace.

And my exhaustion has continued into today, so I'm trying to lighten my WO load for a couple of days because I'm also doing a lot of pedestrian/commuter walking for the next few weekends (which I'm feeling, too).
Anyway, I consoled myself with ice cream. Okay, so the ice cream had been planned since seeing that academic lecture last week, but it was still a consolation for me. Plus, I figure that ice cream, having the word ice in it, is a version of the RICE remedy. Right? And for those who are interested, the flavor I chose: Pecan Praline, single scoop, in a dish. Make of that what you will.
