Wk of April 20 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Tracy – Yup, Disney knows just how to get us – offer some extra bling and that’s all it takes! DH and I were supposed to run the DL Half last year, but then I got pregnant, so no racing for me. I really want that castle medal! My Dad lives out in SoCal, too, so I have way too many ways to justify a trip out there.

Maura – Glad you’re feeling more confident about the Minnie. Now just take care of yourself!!

Amy – Wow, a 26 mile week? That is a lot!

Hey Maura: Icing is fun, but today I actually sat in my pool for 15min after I stretched from my Minnie 9.3 today. The pool is about 70 degrees that I just got right on in and chilled out for awhile.

Amy: :crazy2: You are just crazy!! I need to put a :worship: smiley in here for you from me. You an I both did our Minnie's today, I hope you got your medal because for some reason I didn't get mine. From your time, I'll be about an hour or so behind you. :)

Take care all.

Allie - How cool is that? Same day, same year?

Becky

Becky - Yes, same day, same year. I say that we were destined to be best friends. We even have children who are the same age. :goodvibes

Happy Birthday wishes (again), Allie! It sounds like you celebrated your 40th with style, grace, and humor!!!! (And some cell phone escapades & a new PR!) Everyone, check out Allie's birthday report on the WISHers turning 40! thread! ;)

Yes, with all the escapades of the last few weeks, this is definitely a birthday that won't soon be forgotten. Just hopefully, I won't have a repeat in the future. :lmao:

Allie – Happy Belated Birthday!

Thanks Vic!

Hi everyone!!

Yesterday I ran 8 miles in 70+ degree, cloudless weather which was quite warm. My IT band was bad the last mile. I am rolling and icing and taking ibuprofen but I sure hope this isn't a bad omen for Minnie. I did run it in 86 minutes which is still a fast pace for me.

Today I joined a new gym! I couldn't stand the old one. The original gym was bought several years ago by a franchise and they've turned this into a community center. Originally, only those 14 years and over were allowed in the cardio and weight rooms. Now, kids run all over the place. The parking lot is a zoo and trying to get on the equipment was a nightmare. If that's what they want of the place, go with God, but I want a gym. A place where I can workout, get on the machines and take classes when I want to. So, I joined a women-only fitness center. It's small, one cardio/weight room and one room for classes and a locker room. The equipment was clean and working and the stationary bike did not wobble when I used it! Yea!!!!

So, I biked 8 miles and did some weight work.

dsnyfan21: kudos on running your Minnie today! Will you be at Minnie in 2 weeks?

Amy: kudos to you too! You are one amazing woman--glad you're on our team!!! Sorry your legs were heavy during the last 3 miles. Will you be at Minnie?

Maura: yea for going out and glad the shins held up! Sorry about the other body parts but you're doing great!!

TXAng: not gonna be much help here--DO IT!!!! You know you want to, you know you do. Just do it and enjoy it!

Calcio: you are my Russell Means--you know what I mean ;)

Have a lovely day everyone!

Since finishing my first marathon this year, and it being at the World, I wanted to document the occasion.

So, I blame this all on Mel for planting the seed in my big ol noggin. ;) :rolleyes1 :rotfl: The picture posted by AlohaJeff helped decide it's placement.

Reddragon: Yes, I will be one of the WISH walkers at the Minnie 15K!!

Big Vic: NIIIIICE tat! Very Nice. :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday to those celebrating, and a Very Merry Unbirthday to the rest of us not celebrating. (I covered all my bases :earboy2:).

I led my group of 11 for a 10 miler today, along the way discussing power bars, gels, shot blocks, pretzels, mustard, and hydration. I fielded questions about what to eat during the week, before and after runs.

Afterwards, a few of us went out to the local chain Zippy's, to test out my knowledge.

Anyways, we averaged 9.5 minute miles along the way, and quickly transitions into and out of water stops. Sorry all, but I forgot to bring the camera :rolleyes1.

I will be taking the troop out shortly for our hike up to Manoa Falls. Will try and get a shot or two of the landscape, where they film the rainforest scenes for LOST. The last time we went last year, the set for one of the Dharma bunkers was out, but gone by the time we came back.

Everyone have a great day.

Vic:
:thumbsup2 I so LOVE the tattoo. My queen won't allow me, so I might just have to accidentally show up with one some day.

Another guy also got the same exact tattoo done right after the Goofy.

Nice ink, Vic! Very cool!! How long did it take? I'm still trying to figure out what to do for my half marathon tat...thinking about the Peace, Love, Mickey shirt I have and putting the 13.1 in the Mickey head.

Whose turn is it next? Ohhh, Je-en :rolleyes1

Ang...I'm probably not the best person for stopping folks, so I'd say go for it! Get that castle medal! And then get a tat ;)

It took about an hour and a half.

Yeah, I already have ideas for the left calf. :)

Jeff - When I told Marilyn I wanted a tattooo, she told me I was nuts. I told her she knew that 22 years ago when she married me. :confused3

Tracy - Thanks!

GOOD EVENING TEAM!!

 Only 2 weeks till MINNIE!!!!

Mel I am so sorry about your run, definately can not run on expolding stomach!!! :scared1:
Allie:cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!! (late)
Terri:wave: thanks for stopping in and saying HI
Jeff Thanks for the pics. Never have made it there and don't know if I ever will :confused3
Becky Hope the legs feel good soon!!! Can't wait till MINNIE
Tracy:banana: I'm so glad that you won't get swept, but you don't have to worry any way, with this team behind you, you have nothing to FEAR!!!!
TXAng I feel your pain, we haven't had our AP's for about a year, and it is KILLING me!! No way I'm going to talk you out of it.
Maura I'm so glad you go out there and did it "anyway". Looks like we need to all just get out there and do the MINNIE for fun!!!!!!
Martha Great job on the run and I'm glad that you found a gym that works for you.
VIC NICE ONE!!!
AMyNice job on the run!!!!!!!:woohoo:

As for me, tried to do 10 which turned into 9, with me limping at the end. I meant what I said in my post to Maura. I really have decided to just have fun for the whole MINNIE weekend. I was just telling DH that I didn't know what was wrong with me because I was on-line looking at the course map and final race instructions and I normally get so excited but I wasn't. Then I went for my horrible run and I was sitting with my ice thinking about all of the exciting things that weekend: going to House of Blues Friday night for my mom's bday with my mom and dad, doing 5K with my mom who has never done something like that before, then going to AK that day with mom and dad and DH and DS's - never done that before either. OK so the moral of the story is, IT'S DISNEY WORLD FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!! :cheer2:

Start my new job tomorrow (as you all know) don't know how much personal responding I will be able to do this week!!

Vic - Nice tattoo! I so want one, but am so chicken!:scared1:

Angie - good luck with the new job. I know the feeling. I'm finding it hard to check in and keep up with the posts. Been in my new job for a week.

Terri

Jeff--I took my dd and her friend to see Nim's Island this weekend too. Same thing, I thought it was just okay. I can't really place it though, I guess I had higher expectations.

Happy Birthdays, great job on long runs, sorry about the revenge of the buffets, good luck with new jobs and NICE TATTOO! I came thisclose to getting a teeny tiny Mickey head last summer but chickened out. My DH has one (not a Mickey head) and I still would like to get a really small, well hidden one but the needle thing, well that scares me. Love yours though Vic, very cool!

Heading out this morning to Ashland, MA to watch the Boston Marathoners run by!

Allyson

Nice tatoo Vic! I could never hold still for an hour and a half....

Good Luck today Angie! :goodvibes

Now I am off to read about the birthday escapades.....

Mel - I knew about the fact that you were thinking more structure would be good fro WISH. However, had no clue of your furhter thoguhts. I love it!!!!! WOnder how we go about making next steps?

VIc - Love teh ink (and I am so not a tatto person). Very cool!

Allie & Michelle - Happy belated b-day!

Maura - Glad you had such a great run. Now taek it easy!

Jeff - We just got aftershocks. No damage at all. Thansk for your thougths, though.

Debra- Was hoping to avoid boring anyone with a loooong story. Dh works with a guy whose son is an awesome sprinter. WHen he ran against a local school last year, dh went. Now teh son is a frshman in HS and they ran against "our" team. "Our" because we live there but are not at all involved and have never been to a sporting event there. Anyway. We went to see the son, actually, his oldest son is on teh team this year too. The younger one (freshman) blew teh doors off of everyone. Wow. Both boys were amazngly sweet and gracious. Beatiful day adn fun to be in that environment.

OK, my mind is blank today, so forgive me fro all that I forgot.

ME: OK, I did my solo 8-miler Saturday. It was hot and I was drained from a funeral (veyr extended family) and a 4-hour drive home. I did ok and my last 2 miles had neg splits, so I am pleased. It was over 70, though, and there are no leaves on the trees fro shade yet, so it was very hot to me. Must do better aout hydrating the next couple weeks.

Have a good week everyone!

Hello From Mickey's House Everyone!!

:cool1:

Yes, I am in WDW. Posting from SSR where I am suppose to be trying to balance some project budgets. (Techinically I am working today :rotfl2: )

I did get up this morning and go outside. Decided (A) not to worry about pace and (B) to bag the 5 mile training run the schedule called for. Yesterday at Epcot my calfs were KILLING me and when I streched this morning everything was still sore.... So I wound up doing 3.5 miles in 44.26 (Hey it's ahead of the sweepers) First mile was very slow but I did pick up some pace.

In an effort to work on the calfs I actually scheduled a massage this afternoon. I have never had one so this should be an expereince!

Mel, I loved your thoughts on WISH. Sorry about the Chinese buffet effect!

Vic The Tatoo is great. (I am chicken and there will never be one on me. I was in my mid 20's before I got brave enough to pierce my ears!

Angie Good luck with the job!

And to everyone I forgot, have a great week!

Vic - I LOVE the tattoo!! I keep trying to come up with one related to my running, and haven't found it yet. I wil it just takes me a while. It has taken me 5 years to figure out which tattoo I want next. I figure I get to be picky when it's gonna be on my body forever!!

mkymsehi - I thought you were talking about me with the birthdays!! I even had to go back and make sure I hadn't missed something!!

Well, today is my birthday. The last few weeks leading up to it haven't been great. It seems like if it could go wrong it would. I had even written off the Minnie. My Mom bailed on my birthday dinner tonight, Dh and I didn't get to go out like we had planned, etc. However, things are looking up. Dh and I have convinced the granparents to watch the boys on Minnie weekend so we can go and spend the weekend alone. I am so stoked!! It's been almost 4 years since we had a weekend with no kids!! Now I just have to get my behind out there and make up for those runs I missed because of my grumpiness!! I can't wait to see everyone there!!

Dana
