Wk of April 13 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Liz!!!

I chickened out on the bike this morning...32 degrees is a wee bit chilly on a road bike.

Got in 8 plus miles in 60 minutes on the elliptical though..

I'll check in later, right now my job hates me, and i hate it back.

Mike

Hey guys and gals!

Amy...Sorr you had so much pain during your 10 miler. Like others have said, you do alot! So much training and classes...Maybe you need a few good rest days like Scott. Watch some tv, have a few cookies! :goodvibes I really hope you are feeling better!!!

Scott...I hope you enjoyed your rest day! I love rest days! :lovestruc I think that's why I take so many of them!

Liz...Spring cleaning! That's a great form of XT! I need to do come Spring cleaning too! It's great you had no pain in your run!!!

Debra...How was the talks? and the ice cream????

TXAng--You know, You could always bring the grandparents to WDW 2009 Marathon Weekend! What you could incorporate both events... your son and the races for you!

Mel...Way to go Mel! I wish I liked running!

Morgan...I've always been scared of dogs. Even as a little kid. I don't go near them!

Claire...I'm w/ ya on the temps. The tease us w/ 80 degree weather, then it's back into the 50s!

Lily...Great job getting in your steps!

Krista...I LOVE the baby's room! It is so cute! Now it just needs a baby! :goodvibes

Allyson...Yay!!! Great job completing W4D1!!! That is awesome!

For me...I did XT last night. 20 min of elliptical and 35 min on the bike trainer. I'm thinking I may try to switch up this week a little. I don't like to do back to back runs, but I may this week. I am scheduled for 3 miles on Friday so I may make it more of a walk/run and then on Saturday do my 7 miler. We'll be at the coast so I may ride over to Beaufort and attempt to do my 7 miles over there. At least I could see the water and the boats.... We'll see what happens. We come home on Sunday and I don't want to be rushed to try to get in before we leave. Plus where we stay, there not many place I could run. If I do it Saturday, I could drag my parents and Matt with me and they could walk in the shops while I run or just take the scenery.

I think that's about all from me.

Hope everyone has a nice day!
Stacie

CuriosMorgan – Ugh. Irresponsible dog owners. Is that man looking for a lawsut?

Claire – The Silver Comet Trail is just north of Atlanta GA. You can google it for more info. It’s like a 60-mile bike path. Very long story, the we DNF’d our first 18-miler ever. We were running through 4 to 6” of snow and ice and slush and crud at home. So, the week before our first 20-miler, we found a last minute deal to Atlanta. E-mailed a friend from the DVC boards (who some of you know, lllovell) and asked if she knew of any places we could run 20 miles. She found several places for us ASAP. Silver Comet came up trumphs. Booked the package on Wed and left Friday afternoon. We had been running over 13s. We did and 11:11 2-miler. Before that, we didn’t realize how much the harsh conditions were affecting us. So, Silver Comet has a big place in our hearts. Last year Mel mentioned that we should have a 20 or 10-miler meet where it’s cooler for the southerners and warmer for the northerners. O course, dh and I vote fo Silver OCmet. Scott’s posts just made me think of that more.

Mel – Hmmm….Short answer, yes. Long answer, I jumped right into training for Minnie/Martian after reverse taper and am not injured. I know that makes me stronger than I have been in a while. Some of it is just getting my confidence back. However, I noticed such an instantaneous changed when I implemented just a few chi techniques that I know it’s a large part of why I did so well. SO, while it’s not 100% of the answer, I know it made a huge difference.

Debra – Hope you survived the endurance test! Good place to practice sitting up straight. ;)

Jeff – Love the screen names on the shirt! BTW, most important thing is that you post. Don’t ever let lack of keeping up with everyone keep you away. There are always some who find the time.

TXAng – Woo hoo on RnR! (Assuming I will be able to go). I think we have time for RnR,a s as I didn’t see anything saying it was near full last I checked. However, I’m thinking we need to sign up by June or July. I’m still waiting for SWA to release flights before I commit.

Krista – Love the pix! Love the walls, the furniture and the cute pg girl!

Christa - Very cool that you may help with a class. OMG, 3 mi on the TM after a run. :O :worship:

Bill – SO glad you are running again! Please be careful not to overdo. As all books dh reads have said (he told me this over the weekend), it’s always better to under train than to overtrain.

Allyson – WTG!!! Lol about WISH support. We have all been where you are and know how much it meant to us. Just our turn to pass it on now.

Liz – So glad you are happy with Chi. Can’t believe how much it’s helped me!

LaxMike – Congratulations on an awesome elliptical workout. OMG, I hate that more than the Dreamill, way to go!

Stacie – Back to back runs are good, those are called for during full training. I should warn you, though, the first year we did it, and especially the first couple times, it was rough! When you do b2b, You use the muscles that don’t usually do anything until you do 15 to 20? Miles. They take over then and that’s why you do them in full training. However, that means that, for the most part, they have never been used before and are severely out of shape. Not trying to scare you. Just don’t want you to feel too bad if it’s a rough go.

No update for me. Late mtg last night.

Okay, I’m here to talk. :) I meant to get caught up with everyone yesterday, but I ran out of time. Now I’m like a thousand pages behind. Haven’t had a chance to get out and get some miles in the past few days, we had another cold spell over the weekend, but it’s supposed to start warming back up today—hopefully it stays that way! Of course none of my running clothes fit me anymore, hopefully Stephen doesn’t mine sharing. And if his clothes don’t fit, I will cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stephen and I had a mini-Wish meet last night at our house with Sara. She was in Cincinnati for business, so she came over for dinner. We all had such an awesome together and it made me miss everyone else even more. I so wish we were going down for Minnie. Sigh. I guess the marathon is only 9 months away.

Oh, and thanks for all the comments on the baby’s nursery, I love it too. I think Martha Stewart, I mean Stephen, out did himself with the painting, especially stenciling the bees on the wall. I go in there and sit in the glider and read a lot, it’s such a relaxing room. Well, for the time being. :) And thanks everyone for lying to me and telling me that I look good, I feel ginormous and it’s only going to get worse! For those of you who haven't been pregnant before, here's my word of advice: Don't listen to the liars!!! Buy a size bigger than your pre-pregnancy size!!!!!

Craig—Are you the sweetest man ever? Martha is so lucky to have you (and I know she knows it!!). Thank you so much for your kind words about Stephen and I, they really mean a lot to me. Good luck with the last few weeks of Minnie training and go out there and burn up the course for me!

Mel--  for you and your Mom. I know it’s been tough for you and Jeff, hopefully things will start to go better for you guys. Thanks again for the shirts, we got ours in the mail yesterday, as you can see, mine is a little tight, hopefully I can get back into it by January! And awesome job on your runs lately, I am so happy that you falling in love with running. Hearing your successes lately have been making me so sad! But very happy for you!

Scott—I have to agree, white chocolate macadamia nut cookies are my favorite! I don’t know if I’ve ever had Subway’s, now I have a reason to go there and try them out. But be careful; remember you just bought some new running clothes in smaller sizes. ;) I’m glad that training is going so well for you, I believe there’s a big correlation between biking and running and how when you do both, you get better at both.

Claire—I can’t believe that you are in college and training for Goofy. INSANE!! College by itself and marathon training by itself are hard enough, but mix them both together? Wow! Good job on your presentation and good luck on your paper. What is your major? Elementary ed.? Oh, and my Mom is already calling Hines Lady. I told her no way, he will still be my best boy! :dog:

Amy—   Rest, girl, rest. You are doing too much and your body is letting you know. Can you get someone to cover your classes for a couple of days so you can sit around and do nothing? :wizard:

Morgan—Welcome!! A fellow Buckeye! We’re in Cincinnati, so not exactly neighbors, but it’s okay. :) Congrats on your 5K! And I know you’ve heard it enough, but I’ll repeat everyone again, every completed distance is a victory and we love celebrating all of them. Good luck with the dogs in your neighborhood, I know how scary that can be! I have a black lab and before I got pregnant and I ran all the time, Hines (my dog) would do all of my short runs with me. It was so funny when he would get in the Zone too, until another dog would see him and bark at us and mess us both up. Thankfully we haven’t had any close encounters yet!

Judy—So glad you are feeling better! Too funny about your ice bath. Stephen always put his ice in first and then gets in (I know, crazy), when he does this, he has to tell me about how the ice always gets stuck to his legs and other underneath areas. BRRRRR!!!!!! :cold: :cold:

Bill—I’m glad that you are feeling better too and are back to running again! I am so jealous that you and Lynnda and the boys can just pop over to WDW for the day. So not fair.

Debra—So did you survive the lecture? What kind of ice cream did you get? I meant to post this last week, but I love the picture of you and Pooh (was it Pooh? Or Eeyore? Can’t remember now). I’m glad you had such a great birthday trip!

Carrie—Treadmill nirvana? I think I experienced that once, but it’s been a long time! Great job for sticking with it! And now I have “Smells Like Teen Spirit” going through my head!

Kristi—How cute is Zack!!! I can’t believe how big he is getting! How is the job search going?

Christa—Continued :wizard: and prayers for your Mom. I love it that she looks hot right now! Good for her! And prayers for you too, I know it can’t be easy on you.

Leana—Wow, you have a full week ahead of you! Good luck on the run this weekend. Is it completely overwhelming to run with 54,000 other people? I can’t even imagine.

John and Karen—How are you guys doing? How are Sean and Marie and the baby?? I bet they are getting so excited!!!

Cam—Just wanted to say hi and give you a ! Hope everything with the VR is coming along great. Oh, and I too thought you were going to drop a bomb last week with all the baby talk. :scared1:

Stephanie—The Zumba class sounds like fun! I’ll have to see if my gym offers that once the baby is born. I’m already formulating WO plans to get a smokin’ body back. Well, I guess not back, since it was never truly smokin’ before. ;) Although I made myself sad the other day looking at pictures from the last few years—I was so skinny! I hope you can find a race soon to keep you motivated.

Allyson--Congrats on W4 on your program!! That is so exciting!! :cheer2:

I know I missed people and I am truly sorry, but I think about you all often and can’t wait until I get back out there and join in on the fun soon!!

Krista

So I was leaving the gym at 6:30 this morning, and it's still 30 degrees and all I could think of was this..........

(A brief, unfinished ode to Minnie training--set it to your favorite genre tune-I keep hearing C&W)

CHORUS:
Frost on my windows
Ice on my knees
I'm training for Minnie
WISH, help me please

VERSE
Woke up at 5 am & headed out to run
It's cold here this April without a lot of sun
Doing 3 miles, legs are feeling tight
Hope I can make it--it's not a pretty sight

MODIFIED CHORUS
Bought my plane tickets,
Paid my race fees.
I'm training for Minnie
WISH, help me please

Everybody sing!! Add your own verse.

Actually--didn't run today, just XT. Will probably run 3 on Thursday after my week off.

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. :p You've gt it bad! Good luck with runnign Thursday!

Hey Team - Last night DD7 and I did a little almost a mile training. She is gearing up for kid race season. She really wants to do a 5K, but I know she isn't ready for that yet. They I did some biking with her on the tandem. Then some ab work on the ball. Did I mention... IT'S NOT SNOWING. Yup, 50 degress, a little windy but I am not complaining. It allowed me to get outside and have some good o'le family time while I workout.

Oh... and we booked another Disney vacation. SO EXCITED. Even tho it is August and will be blasted HOT... not gonna complain because it's Disney and that is about the only time I can do it with the kids being in school.

Kristi - CONGRATS to Zack. Emma is back into training now that the snow is melting.

Krista - LOVE you choice of colors and decorations. I love green and DH raises honey bees. Very very CUTE!!!

Mel - I am amazed at your speed. Does that mean I am out for the Minnie? Your PR is likely to be awesome!!! I too am maybe thinking I like running again. With my new TM and my ability to run longer, it has become more enjoyable.

So, Silver Comet has a big place in our hearts.

Oh What a great story! I love the Silver Comet too. I did my first solo long run there. It was a 14 miler that turned out a bit longer but thats another story.... I live about an hour away from that trail or I would run there more often.

Any time you want to come back to train in Atlanta, let me know and I will try to join you for a long run! Right now we are dealing with super high pollen counts but the weather is wonderful for running (if you can breathe through the pollen.)

Jen - Yay on being outdoors! lol. My dh used to raise honey bees. Very small world. Supposed to be in teh 60s here tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Sorry another post from me and it is all about me...I just have to post real quick about my run....
Here is the DL

Krista

I can assure you, that no one has ever applied the term sweet to me. My mother could tell you about the parent-teacher conference in elementary school when my teacher said she would like to hang me up by my thumbs. In 3rd grade I broke enough rules that they wouldn't let me go out for recess or lunch breaks for months at a time. This, of course, was sheer stupidity. Locking up a hyperactive and troublesome boy. They should instead have marched me outside every break and made me run laps around the school until I was exhausted.

And I do mean it all. Carter will grow up in a home full of love. You and Steve will see very early in his development how much this helps him in every way. His confidence, inquisitiveness and willingness to explore and grow will reflect his knowledge that his parents love him absolutely, and are always ready and willing to pick him up if he stretches too far and falls.

And remember, this past January I also told Steve all the dumb/male things I taught my daughter, and how it's his job to teach all the same dumb things to Carter. Life with your children is full of so many little victories. Cherish them all, because it does go so fast. Lesley was born 23+ years ago and it truly went like lightening. I remember every day and event so clearly that it cannot possibly have begun so long ago, but it did. Every day she made our lives richer and her birth is without a doubt the greatest gift I ever received (thanks Martha!).

I'm sorry you won't be in for the Minnie 15, but I expect, demand really, to see the 3 of you in January. Maybe not in 2009, but for sure by 2010 I'll show him a trick or 2 that will make his mother cringe.

Craig

Mike: Oh burrr burrr burrr 32 degrees...that's like freezing! ;) What is your job?

Stacie: It's always nice to have a change of scenery!

Carrie: Ohh Comet is like our Tammany Trace (rail to trail here in LA), except I bet it has a whole lot more hills!

Krista: Do you have a baby jogger yet? You know Carter will love going rolling with mommy, especially since it sounds like you are keeping it up before he's even born! I did Goofy in 2007 (my first race over 10K!), and it's a lot easier now because almost all of my classes are in the evenings! I don't even have class on Fridays (great for long runs!). I graduated in the Fall in Elementary Ed with a minor in Sp. Ed. Right now I'm in grad school getting gifted certified and hopefully going for my Doc in children's literature (those are the classes that I'm falling in love with!). Originally, I was going for my masters in gifted and talented education, but because of how courses are offered (and prerequisites) I might as well get my Ed. Specialist. and if I'm getting my Ed. Sp. then it only takes an extra fall and spring for my Doc. (Okay really I think I'm just addicted to/enjoying school! ) Give Hines a scritch behind the ears for me!

Maura: Too cute! :rolleyes1 (<--me whistling along!)

Jen: OOO ooo OOO Disney Trip!!! :tigger: Busy busy busy you are!

Christa: :thumbsup2 on the neg splits!

Craig:
They should instead have marched me outside every break and made me run laps around the school until I was exhausted.
I shall remember this when I am teaching. Actually, I did this when I was student teaching ("Okay everybody out! Hop to the fence and back! Again! Again! again....") and it definitely helps though you have to keep air freshener around (two dozen sweaty kids--bleh!).

I had a nice 4 mile jog with speed play this morning. But now it's back to being the good little grad student...:surfweb:

Got a quick question: any one else wind up burping like crazy after GU gel? Used it before heading out for first time last night (figure time to test these things). Vanilla tasted pretty good but burped the first half of my walk.

Yes, very lady-like I know. I can also out burp my brothers after pizza & beer. :drinking1 :upsidedow

(Krista - this something that needs to be passed down. My father & uncle taught it to me and I've instructed my son.)

:rotfl2:
Jeff: What does [who is?]"Mkymsehi" mean? Is this DD's first tri? How long is each leg [of the tri, not of DD!]?

My avatar name is MKYMSEHI = MICKEY MOUSE HAWAII

I'm still trying to decide what Disney themed vanity plate on the new wheels.

I just ordered "MKYFAN" since someone stole my

Princess #1 is doing the Lani Moo Kid's Triathlon in 3 weeks. It's a 50 meter swim, a 1.1 mile out and back bike ride, and a .3 mile run. Very easy for her age group.

http://www.lanimoo.com/kidstriathlon/

FYI- I estimate her legs to be about 30" long, since she's nearing 5' in height. She's pretty tall for a 9 year old (soon to be 10). :lmao:

LIZ: Beer and pizza, the perfect carb loading before a race. Well, actually anytime. You rock with the burping!

More news from my past: I just got word through the email grapevine that my friend from high school suffered a stroke this past Sunday. Surgery was a sucess, so now he's on the road to recovery.

GOOD AFTERNOON TEAM!!

Just wanted to pop in and say HI . Not much to report on the training front. I have been trying to skim through your posts but I wanted to say

Amy I was there with you just a couple of weeks a go and it was AMAZING what some rest did for me. :) And even though I had an incredible run Saturday I have been paying for it ever since (my back) so I think I have to back off the training so I will be glad to run with you at MINNIE, but believe me if anyone knows about wanting to set certain goals and wanting to reach them, I do. And no matter what anyone says, I don't think there is anything wrong with that. We just have to cut ourselves some slack sometimes, oh if only I could take my own advice.

Krista CUTE PICS!!!!!!

Gotta go back to work

Liz: Spring cleaning??? Ah yes, I think I am familiar with that ritual, at least in the abstract. But when one lives in a tiny apartment it doesn't take nearly that long and isn't very extensive. :scared1: I think I'd rather run a marathon. Your dedication to a clean house impresses me. :thumbsup2 As for the lecture, it's not the worst one I've ever been to (that's probably one of mine...). And I too love CHI Running/Walking. I can't remember who first mentioned it, but I have to thank Carrie, Amy, Mel, and Aloha Jeff for keeping it uppermost in my thoughts.

Christa: I've been doing the nice, safe, even a klutz-can-do-it stationary biking for a while, trying to gear up for spring & the outdoors. I love my real bike for fun, like rails to trails biking and casual neighborhood biking. It's that urban biking that you do (:worship:) that freaks me out--sometimes I think motorists hate me! P.S. Energetic/hyper/ADHD...whatever makes you YOU, I like it! (And you made me laugh with the "would sit still & type but must run" bit.)

TXAng: Awww, I'm sorry about 2009, but you and I have a date for 2010 then, okay? And it's pretty cool that you'll be celebrating DS's 1st birthday during marathon weekend. After all, he's more important (said grudgingly). Yay for you for restarting C25K--I love that program so much that I've been through it more than once! Btw, I WAS a good girl at the talk, but no ice cream (see below).

Mel: Now, why would that phrase ever make you spit out your Diet Pepsi? :rolleyes1 *I* was talking TVs.... I'm so glad to hear you've gotten into the "I like running" groove. I'm not sure I'm there quite yet, at least not consistently, so your confession (good for the soul) makes me happy for you and hopeful for me. P.S. I got my Race Ready shirt today--THANK YOU!!

Morgan: Another 3 miler! I live in a very dog-friendly, or should I say dog-centric, neighborhood that is also populated with runners. More dogs than runners, but I digress. It's strange, but I've had more problems with dogs as a walker. Maybe because I look like I'd be easily caught? I understand that running with, instead of from, a dog can be fun. :lmao:

Claire: Good job with your presentation, especially since you forgot about it; or maybe I'm just impressed that you're not a procrastinator like me. How's your children's lit review going--I think that's its focus, right? P.S. Sugar-free pudding & a numb tongue? Strange--that doesn't sound promising. I just made some protein bars with SF pudding in them (1st time), so I wonder what will happen.

Aloha Jeff: I love, love, love the idea of using the avatar names! Mooshu is one brilliant woman (and you benefit by association :lmao:). Another WISH kid in the ranks--that's terrific!

Lily: I think you did a great job on putting the steps in and continuing to challenge yourself with the kicks, etc. For not having your mind in the game, you certainly made sure to be conscientious about your WO!

Anne: Oh, man, you had to pull out the bling, didn't you? I'm going to have to share this with DOOD, even though I don't know if we can pull it off, schedule/budget-wise.

Craig: DOOD is a British Lit guy (Early Modern Period/Shakespeare). I can generally follow along and, if not, put on the appropriate facial expressions. Strangely enough, I find it more interesting when I go to talks waaaaaayyyy outside my field, like yours. Maybe it's because I feel like a tourist? P.S. I think you've given very sound advice to Amy & yourself for the Minnie, and know you will both keep your expectations optimistically realistic & have great runs! :thumbsup2

Krista: You and Stephen really outdid yourselves, and you look so beautiful & happy. I love the room, and I'm sure Carter will bee happy with it. I want that comforter for myself. And you FRAMED the Terrible Toddler towel! :rotfl2: One last thing--how'd you work it out so Hines fits so well with the decor???

Bill: :woohoo: for getting back into the running! It sounds like all of you had a great time at Disney, especially Timmy. (Or maybe you via Timmy.) I had no idea so many kids were involved with WISH--I guess I haven't been paying close attention. I might need to watch one of their races, if that wouldn't be too weird; I always wonder how parents feel about "unattached" adults watching kids in malls, parks, etc. Eh, I'm sure if I wear a WISH shirt it'll be cool.

Cecilia: Now I'm going to picture you looking like Jodie Foster (who I think is hot, btw). :rotfl: Seriously, it's good to learn that you--who's so hard core--were once a computer potato. It gives me hope for my potato self.

Allyson: No ice cream for me. :sad2:  for starting week 4!! And you wore your WISH shirt to help you. It makes total sense, because you know that WISHers always have your back and we're in your heart. More important, though, is YOU--your strength, your dedication, your commitment, your effort. We're here for you in spirit, but it's you who, as Cecilia just said above, is "stepping out the door." Congratulations!!!!

Mike: You didn't chicken out on the bike ride--you're just biding your time, sneaking up on it like spring is sneaking up on Chicago. 32 degrees? Brrr!! And then you punished yourself with the elliptical. As for the job, well...at least you have a mutual hate-hate relationship. :confused3 I hope the day gets better for you.

Stacie: I think a change of scenery might be just the thing you need for your 7 miler, even if it means back-to-back runs. It sounds like a good plan to me! :thumbsup2

Carrie: Good point about sitting up straight--doing so also makes it harder to fall asleep, thus avoiding an embarrassing moment. I think you need to an official title as our Chi Running Ambassador. Who knows, maybe you could end up being an instructor (you'd certainly do a good job).

Maura: Songwriting? What a cool way to taper! I think this should be the soundtrack to Scott's video documentation of the Minnie Weekend. (Note how I just volunteered you all to become a production company for my enjoyment.)

Jen: You and your DD training together--WISH parents are too cool! And you and Mel just have to run together--that's how I think of you two, running, having fun, looking like it's the easiest thing in the world!

Angie: Great post to Amy (Amy, we love you girl!), and I'm glad you're taking care of yourself and listening to your body.

As for me: The lecture was fine, as far as these things go. No pictures, no PowerPoint, no film clips--I actually had to listen! :scared1: I couldn't figure out to whom the talk was geared: sometimes it seemed to be to undergrads, sometimes to grad students, and very rarely to peers. But it had lots of talk about monkeys--monkeys wearing women's clothing, monkeys as representative of human sexuality/bestiality, monkeys defecating on stage--so that was fun. But no ice cream. :sad2: The talk, Q & A, and reception went a little long, and we had an hour's drive home, so we decided to delay gratification until this weekend. We're not good with the willpower, but this weekend is supposed to be sunny & warm; eating ice cream will also involve a walk in the park. That's better than JUST eating ice cream, right? Right?

Other than that, today's a XT day for me. Working those core muscles--or trying to find them, depending on how generous you want to be with me.

Debra - Summer means ice cream here too. Good thing our summers are short, huh? I always justify that a walk on teh baordwalk burns off all teh calories you ate. ;) Then again, I've gained a lot of weight since I moved to a big tourist area. :confused3

ANgie - :grouphug: lol, I know I'm lazier than you, but I still find it easier to give that advice than take it. It's so hard.

Claire - lol. We stated adn went the wrong way on the trail. It only went a mile from where we started adn we climbed teh whole way. :scared1: After that, teh rest of the trail seemed fine. ;)

Christa - Woo hoo on teh neg splits! :cool1:

Jen - COngrats on your extra vacation!

Cecelia -You mean you hadn't seen me bore poeple wiht that story 20 times? :p Heck, dh told it to random people we met on th bus. :p Scott and I may take you up on your offer to run with us in December. :goodvibes WISH I had known it was you with Jen not far ahead of us fro amrathon. :( That;s what I get for turning shy. Go figure. Once I know your face, you'll never get away. :rotfl: BTW, :grouphug: and :wizard: and prayers fro you and your dad and your family. I am so tired of teh C word effect all our loved ones.

Liz - Tried the GU, but no burping effects for me. Maybe you had the limited edition carbonated vanilla cola flavored GU? Glad to see the Chi running is working for you and you had no shin pain :)

Claire
- 4 miles with speed play...nice work!! To answer questions...The Silver Comet starts in Atlanta, GA and ends up over in Alabama somewhere...it's 100 miles long. Elite series races are all of the Rock n' Roll ones. Here is a link: http://www.eliteracing.com/home.html They are so fun with all of the bands out on the course, along with great crowd support and an awesome expo..they just know how to put on an event :)

- Sweet run! Negative splits to boot! Why on earth did you do back to back 8 milers after the long ride on Sunday? Are you tri training? As for the "drafting queen"...I've yet to ride with anyone, but would really like to do a 50 miler or century ride at some point.

Jen
- A Dis vacation..NICE! It's hot, but there are so many indoor attractions (and water parks) that I'm sure you guys will be just fine :goodvibes:

Krista
- Awesome baby room pics!! Love the terrible toddler towel!! It's such an exciting time for you guys right now...I'm so happy for both of you!

Stacie - Switching things up is always ok as it mixes things up for your system and I believe it provides more benefit to you. Great job with the XT last night!!

Carrie
- You crack me up!

Allyson - Congrats on completing week 4! Great accomplishment!!

Original Bill
- Nice job getting back to the running...hope everything works out well for you so you can have a good Minnie race

Anne - Love the Dynamic Duet medal!! And yes, you'll get the 26.2 musical miles one too :)

Mel - Sooo cool that you like that running feeling. Really glad things are going so well for you right now, you're gonna have a great race in May :)

Debra - So how did the talk go?? More importantly, what flavor ice cream did you order? :rotfl: Hmmm, I'd see you as a complex yet simple, fun yet conservative kind ice cream flavor person...my guesses: mint chocolate chip, butter pecan (nutty, get it?), or some kind of caramel infused concoction...ahhhh...I see you posted as I was typing this, so never mind question #1...question #2 is still valid though ;)

Amy - Rest, rest, rest, rest. I'm proud of you for taking it easy today...get some extra sleep tonight and try to just relax through tomorrow as well. Skipping the early week run is smart...you can get back out there on Thursday if you feel up to it  Gotta make it to Minnie in one piece...I'm selfish and I need you there!!

Scott's World
- Haven't done anything yet today, but I'm either going to run 6 tonight or spend an hour doing XT at the fitness center. I'll figure that out when I get back to the house.

As far as the best cookie in the world? Amy makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookie ever created. It's the perfect blend of size, softness and chip mix...it's pure heaven....ohhhh I love them so :goodvibes:

I know I missed a lot of you...this thread is on fire this week!! I hope all is well with everyone :)

Woot, Christa you rock!!!

Debra, um... I had to stop at the "monkeys defecating on stage" part.. how does one respond to that? :rotfl:

I just have to share something cute really quick.. I just got off the phone with my mom and I told her I am running a 5k on Saturday. It happens to start/end at the health club she works out at and I said if she finishes up and gets out by 9:30 she should have time to find a spot and see me cross the finish line. She literally gasped on the other end and said "Really? You'll be done that fast?" I told her it's only 3 miles and that my average time is 33-34/min. You would've thought I told her I was running a marathon that fast she was so impressed! Nothing like a mom to lift your spirits sometimes!!
