(BTW my dad invented the Hooah bar. He switched from dissecting dead animals to inventing military food!)

I like Hooah bars. :thumbsup2 I like MREs too, and cold Beanie Weenies right from the can. As a matter of fact I have two MREs under my desk. Cajun Rice, beans and sausage, and BBQ Pork Rib. Mmmmmmm. :thumbsup2

Kathy - Mike doesn't dance like Elaine on Seinfeld, does he? :happytv: ;)

Jenn - Great job with the training!

I have got to get some work done! :)

Kathy - Can you get him on your cell phone when we are all at the Minnie and we will all encourage or congratulate him (depending on when we call guess). He'll have LOTS of supporters! :woohoo:

:thumbsup2 Judy that's a great idea but he refuses to carry/use a cell phone. He should be home by the time we're all at Jellyrolls! Maybe I'll give him a call from there.

It never fails--I always know I can come on here for a good laugh! Here's me reading the posts:lmao: :rotfl2: Boy, Jellyrolls is going to be an experience!

Got my 4 miles in today. Much better than yesterday--but I still hate the TM. Oh well! Then I made a trip to our local running store for some HammerGel, adn they had a sale going on--wouldn't you know that all the sizes left in apparel were either XL men's or S ladies--guess us regular size women have to shop the full price rack. Oh, but I did see that Brooks has a new hat and visor out that are guess what color? Lime green and white! I'm gonna see if DH will let me go back and get one--my lucky hat is finally on it's last legs from all the washing.

I don't even know where to start! You guys are TOO funny - I have to wait until I get home so I don't give away my secret that I'm not really working.

Called my boss this morning and told him I'd be in around 10:00, instead of my usual 7:30. Wanted to sleep past 5:00am, and I was determined to run! So I did 4 miles on the TM, then wandered leisurely in to work mid-morning. Love having a flexible boss. (Even told him the real reason I called in was so I could run!)

Used my new orthotics this morning. Felt good while I was running, but my legs hurt all day. According to the instructions, I think this is normal!

Christa - I've decided to taper for my 5K this weekend, mainly due to the adjustment with the orthotics. I did 4 miles this morning, and I'm either going to do 2 on Friday or ride the bike. How's that for a training plan created while on the TM?

Mike - Glad DW okayed the posts again. There's no reason to log on if you're not going to be in true form.

Cam - During mile 4 this morning I was feeling tired and my legs hurt. My mantra became "Cam got a Mickey" to remind me that you did almost the entire marathon in pain!

Shan - It could be the caffeine, but you should see the doctor if it's still happening next week. I used to drink a Mtn Dew daily, and when I missed one it would cause migraines. (But then, there's a whole list of things that will cause migraines for me!)

Jackie

Jackie -- you GO, girl! :cool1: That is so cool that your boss is so accommodating! And how sweet that you were thinking of me!

Krista - Good to hear that your sis' blood pressure is down from what it was. Continued Pixie Dust for a quick recovery. HAve they set a surgery date now that her BP is lower? Hope your holding up okay. It's bad when something happens to you, but when it's a loved one, it's even worse. So Pixie dust to you as well for your spirit.
Cam, Dave, and Krista too - Awesome pics of you all with my man Mickey wearing your medals!

I am missing people, I know, but I am not doing it to be an individual on a great Team of awesome people. Life took over the last 48 hrs. It didn't feel like I had any time off of work.
Training note, then off to bed, I work the next two days...
Yesterday I did 40 min on the recumbent doing the "Rolling Hills" program while watching Star Ward Episode I (not sure how this tidbit figures in, but it was fun to watch)
Today I ran outside, without walk breaks. 2 miles, and felt really good, I think the sore calves are behind me. Then after my run, stretched and did my ab routine.

Happy Training!
See you all on Saturday!

...Does anyone belong to a track club/team? Would it be beneficial to sign up for the summer Y team? I would like to work on my speed and really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to that.
I did the last 2 years, just haven't signed up this time for the summer program for NEO Fit an affiliat of USA Fit. We gather for weekend runs and the info and support was worthy of doing it, not to mention that it certainly made me feel that I HAD to get out of bed early on Saturday a.m.s to get those steps in. I won't be able to play with them this year due to other time conflicts. If you have the opportunity, I'd recommend joining up with others. I have a running store not far from me and may look at doing time with them.

I love the pics you've all posted with your medals.

I took a break tonight. LTO and all.

Jackie, I have envy too for a flex work place so I could do that.

Shan, you'll be ready for the half in 2008 January or May. Keep at it now and you'll be fine.

Night all, gotta get sleep...

Wow!! Thank you all very much for the support. But didn't your teacher always say not to encourage the class clown? It only makes it worse!

The only thing is that now I feel more than just a little bit of pressure. Village idiot I can do with no problem. Witty? I'm pretty sure not.

On a serious note, I'm glad DW - momoftwogirls (Hey, can't you change that since we have 3 DD's?) posted. She is often my moral compass and common sense... I guess I'd say my Jiminy Cricket. Of course, I still often end up hee-hawing away with donkey ears and a tail, but she tries.

I didn't register for my marathon until after she had all her plans for Minnie because I knew she wouldn't go otherwise. And for the record, she has sacraficed much of her training for Minnie so that I could prepare for my race. I can't thank her enough for her love and support.

Okay, maybe I'm not rolling around my office and pounding on the ground, but pretty darn close!
O.K. Cam - my job here will not be done until you are actually rolling on your office floor in laughter. Just be sure to do it when Pat and Rhonda aren't around. I'd hate for you to PM me your dry cleaning bill because they mistook lol for fof (fall on face) and doused you with Poweraid.

Kathy - Mike doesn't dance like Elaine on Seinfeld, does he? :happytv: ;)
Vic, I choose to think more like Elvis. Well, maybe Elvis in his last bloated moments as he flopped around on the bathroom floor in a drug overdose induced epileptic fit, but still...

And thanks for your many years of service preserving our rights. But please remember, foreign invaders and an in-house civil war are two different animals. Sometimes you have to make other sacrifices if you hope to raise your flagpole on Iwo Jima (subtle, eh?).;)

:thumbsup2 Judy that's a great idea but he refuses to carry/use a cell phone. He should be home by the time we're all at Jellyrolls! Maybe I'll give him a call from there.
I'm not sure which would be worse: Trying to have a cell-phone conversation with someone shouting over the dueling pianos or being reminded that there's a bunch of babes (and I mean that in the most flattering way!!) liquored up on Long Island Iced Teas and I'm stuck 900 miles away.

BTW: I hope Stephanie and Angie's DH's are prepared for what they are getting themselves in for by going to JR's. They don't know y'all like we do!

Alright, enough frivolity. Down to business. Everyone get back to work (or quit ignoring the children, as the case may be)!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Wow, I often find myself posting after Mike/Optimator. So tough to follow those posts. Especially when my time is limited, and I can't do truly fair posts where I get everyone.

Let me just say that yesterday I ran 3.76 miles (was planning for 3 and it took me another .76 to get home) in 33:49 min/9:00 mpm. As it was a training day for the princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:, I then did another 1.56 with DD6 princess: (DD9 didn't feel like running and practiced her tae kwon do). My run was fine, and I felt very comfortable. As I'm in taper mode, I kept telling myself to go slow, and I was surprised I still ended up with a 9:00mpm pace. The best part of my day was my run with DD6 princess:. She did fantastic! We had such a nice time running together side by side. We walked 5 min and then did 2 min run/1 min walk intervals. I was so impressed with her. We had such a nice time.

OK, I got up early to work on my grant. I better go.

:ssst: :lmao:

OMG! COuld not figure out which of Mike's lines to quote. SO, being lazy, I didn't quote any. ;) I think the dry cleaning comment wins, though! :lmao: BTW, momoftwogirls has quite the tough roll keeping you in line. ;) I'm sure it makes all the difference to know she's appreciated, though. :goodvibes

Dave - That's a tough act to follow! However, you take a completely different tack and that works well. Love your dds' training story. Glad you and dd6 had such a good time last night!

Lily - Sounds like a much needed rest. Good for you.

Jackie - Way to get those steps in!

I did XT by b-day shopping for teh ILs last night. Not too exciting. Did a little pre-Minnie Packing piling. That was fun! Leg's stil bothering me, but can't get in fo rpT until tomorrow. This session was supposed to be subbed with teh gait analysis, but I'm beginning to think that they really don't do it. Rather frustrating. Have no idea weather to run on it tonight. A day off made no difference. I think I'll let the weather decide. 70 percent chance of rain and T-storms. At least it's not snow.

Mike--Hehehe....I just told DH last night that he is in for some serious craziness at JR:rotfl2:

Dave--great run! You guys are going to be flying at the Pig! WTG for your DD!

Gonna go to my yoga/pilates/circuit training class this am and then hoping to hit the running clinic tonight--we'll see!

Now that's entertainment! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Roger that. I've practiced, "discretion is the better part of valor", on the home front many, many times. :)

Take care.

Good morning TEAM!!! Greetings from soggy Ohio!! :) I did my last long run (6 miles) before the Pig last night. :woohoo: :woohoo: It was so muggy and humid here, I was literally dripping with sweat after I got home. I run with my hair in a bun and with a technical hat, when I took my hair down, it was so wet it looked like I put my head under water. In fact my hair was STILL damp 3 hours after my run. :scared: :scared: :scared: The run itself was okay, I've had a really tight calf the past 2 runs (Andrew, what did you do to stretch your calf?), it took about 3.5 miles for it to start to loosen up. I took Hines home after 4 miles and while I was dropping him off, I stretched my calf out. That seemed to help, the last 2 miles were much better, or maybe it was so good because I felt free after dragging a 70lb dog behind me! So I finished in 1:09:56--okay, I'd like to get that down to 1:00--where it was before the marathon and the IT band issue. I guess that gives me something to work on this summer. :)

Update on Shari--Thank you so much for all your prayers and pixie dust, they've really helped! I talked to Shari last night, her BP is down, but still high 130/111, she's on 3 different BP medicines as well as Predizone (sp???) for her migraines, which I guess can cause your BP to raise. She's gained 8lbs since she's been in the hospital, which is of course all water weight, which doesn't make her feel real great. Her surgery is scheduled for today and then she's meeting with a cardiologist and hopefully will be released to go home. I really hope this forces her into a healthy lifestyle, I know she wants to lose weight and more importantly eat right and exercise, as she's done different diets and exercise programs in the past, and has lost weight, but it's just hard to figure out what to eat, what cardio to do and stick with it. It's even harder because her husband isn't too interested in eating healthy or exercising and when you don't have that support at home, it's hard to give in to temptation.

There's so many posts to catch up to!!!!

Stephanie--Do you wash your hat in the wash machine? Mine's getting pretty grubby, I've washed it off with water, but I need soap!!!!! :) I still can't believe you're shooting for a 23:00 5K. More power to you!!!

Andrew--Thanks for your kind words. Stupid question, is Star Wars Episode I a good movie? I've seen the original Star Wars Trilogy and I liked those movies, but I haven't seen any of the new ones.

Mike/Optimator--You are a very sweet guy!!! Who knew?? ;) I'm glad that you're back. The first weekend in May is going to be quite busy for the Wish Team!!

Vic--You're scary when get all military-like!! Remind me to stay on your good side. ;) How are the boys doing? :wizard: for your foot!

Jackie--You have an awesome boss!!

Dave--You sound like an awesome dad! Your princess: 's are lucky to have you.

Carrie--I have to go to the grocery store tonight in the rain, I'm thinking about counting that as xt. :) I've started getting ready for WDW too (we're going May 11), I've got a nice pile of clothes started in the extra bedroom. I just have to get a couple of pair of shorts this weekend and I should be all set! I'm so excited to go!!!!!!!!!!!

Lily--I hope you enjoyed your day of rest. You certainly deserve it!

AI People--Who wants to adopt a little African child now? I want to bring them all home with me!!

I know I'm missing people, but I have to get started on my work. I can tell spring is here, the Carnies are out in full force!!!!! The company I work for manufactures concession equipment and supplies popcorn:: and I work with the past due accounts. Fun!!

Quickie checkin--

Speaking of AI...I was up late last night with my job taking calls for American Idol...talk from my callers was that waits were upwards to 30 minutes or more for hold time...and a technical glitch across teh board impeded taking some donations. But otherwise..AI has raked in a lot of dough for the cause!!!

This morning I did 20 minutes on the bike (new batteries YEAH!!!). My quads seem to be week which of course is from my pregnancy and lack of working out---so hopefully when they get back into shape, my post partum non-exercise related (Except for lack of exercise) knee achiness will slowly go away.

I'm tired this morning and i still have ot homeschool the girls. :scared1: Time to go get my oldest started on Math...at least she has done her reading already and today we are doing a project with clay related to how they used to write way way way back in the olden days o' Egypt.

Saturday we head to EPCOT....we figured the park with the most indoor venues/attractions with the little one for his first visit. If all else fails, I'll be riding the boat in the land over and over and over again.:thumbsup2

Dave, that is awesome about your daughters! :thumbsup2

I also have two girls (9 and 6). I bet it would be great to get them running. I think my oldest would give it a go, I don't picture my youngest doing it - but I still view her as my baby.

Krista, glad Shari is doing better! :goodvibes

Krista--- Glad your sister is doing better. Since you are a Steelers fan just need to share with you that this month in our area both Terry Bradshaw and Jerome Bettis have been in our area for fund raisers.

It was raining really hard yesterday so had to do my last 4 mile walk on the TM in 59 minutes. It was so hot in the gym and all the fans were in use, I thought I was going to melt away. I am doing stretch class tonight and then nothing else until my 1/2 on Sunday. The weather is suppose to be nice with temps in the 60's and partly sunny. I hope I remember the sunscreen. I don't need sunburn on top of all the muscle aches I will have.

I so enjoying reading everyone's posts. You are a great group of people.

Nancy
