Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Angie - Isn't it crazy how it feels so good to be so sweaty?

Carrie - Thanks for all your hard work getting the shirts out. I did have to move the shirts after I opened them - the glare was interfering with the tv viewing!

Great TM run this morning - did 3 miles in 36:08. Ran the entire 1st mile, walked for 1 min, ran for a 2nd mile, walked for 1 min, then ran to finish out the 3 miles (about .75 mile by that point). I basically ran 3 miles with a 2 minute walk break in the middle! I am so psyched! (I would say "I'm a runner," but I know what responses that would get...) The third mile was a little tough, and that's when Mystic (the dog) chose to come sniff my legs - the wet nose is a little distracting when you're already struggling!

See, Judy, what help you are! (For the newbies, my daughter printed a picture of the Donald medal and taped it on our TM - she just happened to pick one in a picture hanging around Judy's neck, and you can see her bib and name in the background, so I feel like I'm running with Judy every morning!)

Gotta get back to work!

Jackie

OK, just did a super skim of the last 4 pages of last week.

CindyLou - Thanks! :goodvibes

Jeff - So sorry about the stonker! If there were not stonkers, though, those great runs would nto seem as great. Hope your runs have been trating you better lately!

OK, this bears repeating!!!! I so want to edit it oh so slightly for WDW. It fits us to a T! Thanks Krista!

Pig Poem '06
Ginny Halloran

I hope your life's a marathon,
Long and full of fun,
With friends and family along the way
To help you as you run.

With music and cheers to lift your spirits
And water stops to quench your thirst,
With knowledge that others are on your team
When the course becomes its worst

Cause when life becomes really tough
And situations seem most dark,
You'll know you can conquer anything,
Just like the hill to Eden Park.

And don't forget to share the joy,
Especially the silliness life brings.
Remember sometimes it's even OK
To wear pig hats with flapping wings.

Or stop the race to meet your family,
Give them a kiss, a hug and say, 'hi'
Cause they're the ones who really count,
Even if others pass you by.

Life's marathon has its ups and downs,
But you'll succeed and here is why
Because you know the real secret of life,
Even Pigs Can Fly if they try.

Craig - :grouphug: Although you shoudl post a warning. Tears at work are a bad thing. ;) Thanks, though. I needed that.

Lynnda, Bill, Billy & Baby - Praying fo rall of you today! Can't wait fo pix! ;)

Jackie - :rotfl2: I don't think I'll ever forget the paramedic looking at Judy and saying,"I think her color's better but it's hard to tell with teh reflction from that shirt."

Becky - Welcome!

Mel - I am NOT traveling with the cats! :rotfl: Alternating shoes? Ugh. That would take more decisions. ;) BTW, there are purple 2120s. They may be similar to teh old cumulous.:confused3

Christa - You are an adorable spot!

I seem to have come down with a cold. I'm sure it's due to how crazy m,y life has been and lack of sleep. So, I talked dh out of yesterday's run, even though I knew I was risking thunderstorms. Hopefully, they'll clear up by this afternoon. If not, I'll be on the TM. :( I am looking foward to trying the new shoes, though. I'll try to do a better job of keeping up this week.

Hey everybody....Just checking into say HI!

DBF and I went to the Nascar race in Martinsville, VA this weekend and just got back last night. Since we were camping, we had no internet access. I really missed keeping up with you guys. But the race was great and we had a BLAST!! And for all you Nascar fans out there, the Car of Tomorrow is not that bad in person! I hated it when I saw it on tv, but being there it looks about the same except for the stupid wing on the back. So, it grew on me this weekend.

I hope to catch up with everyone later on today! I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, TEAM!!!! Enjoying the last warm day for a while. It's supposed to be 75 today and then drop to the 20's and 30's for the rest of the week. I know we're hitting a low of 19 on Saturday. Happy Easter!!! I ran 4 miles last night, it started out good, turned into a stonker, and then ended up good again. Hines and I started out doing 4/1, we did the first mile in 10:30 (I don't have the rest of my splits as my Garmin is not giving me splits anymore :confused3 ), but at 1.50 Hines just completely shut down. It was about 80 degrees yesterday afternoon and way too hot for him. We were about a half mile from home, so we walked home, I put him in the house and then did my remaining 2 miles on my own. I ended up doing 4 miles in 44:45, but that's counting walking a half mile, so I'm pleased with that. My area between my ankle and calf is still hurting from the inserts, but not as bad as last week, my 10 miler on Saturday should be interesting.

Jackie--You go girl!!! That's great that you ran 3 miles. YOU ARE A RUNNER!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Hines always licks my legs while I'm running or when I'm trying to stretch. My sweat must be extra salty!! By the way, I love the picture of Mystic!

Stephanie--I am so jealous of the running group you train with. That must be great. Maybe if I trained with a group, I'd be as fast as you. ;) ;) ;) On second thought, nah!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Lynnda and Bill--I've been thinking about you guys all morning and praying for you.

Carrie--WOW! You were fast in HS!! Don't ever try to forget those days. And you used to weigh 115 lbs at your height? Did you look like a walking skeleton??? YIKES!!!! Let me know how the Mizuno's work for you, I've been eyeing the Mizuno Wave Alchemy for about a year now. I think the next time I need new shoes, I'm going into the running store and I'm just going to say "I don't want New Balance any more!!!!!" :)

Angie--I'm glad you had such great run! Sorry that your trip to VA was disappointing, but at least you know that you did everything you could to make it a successful trip.

Judy--I'm so glad that there wasn't any damage to your ACL. That is wonderful news. Did you celebrate last night?? Have a great time at Minnie!

Mel--How was WDW? I'm so jealous that you get to all the time! I guess I can't really complain, I think we are around 900 miles away and Stephen and I still make it there about 3 times a year. We keep saying we're going to limit ourselves to one trip or at the most two and we never do.

I better get off here and start working. Blah!

Krista - I hope those inserts get better for you soon.! BTW, although that sounds fast now and I was ok in HS, that was no super star time. Oh, we're due fro snow tomorow through Friday. It' saleays got to eb cold for Easter. :p

Judy - :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Yay!!!!!!!!!!! Still take it easy on those knees, ok?

Kim - Welcome back!

Oh you guys, I am having a tough time getting motivated about my 4 mile run scheduled for this evening. I'm off to a hockey game tonight (Calgary vs. Colorado) so I don't have a lot of time for the run, but worse than that, it is snowing buckets! The weather won't be any nicer tomorrow, so I should just get out the door and get it done today, right? :cold:

Oh, PS - I just bought my annual passes yesterday! 4 weeks and 1 day and I'll be flying down to the Minnie - can't wait for my first trip to WDW since 1998!!!

Carrie - Hope you are feeling better soon!
Krista - Good run last night. I'm with you on the weather - what is up with this cold weather flying about?
Jackie - Great run! My dogs always want to come lick my face when I'm lying down doing ab work after a tough workout!
Angie - Great pace on your run.
Lynnda and Bill - Best of luck to you and your family today!!! Can't wait to see pics. The nursery looks amazing. I love Winnie the Pooh.
Stephanie - Great speed workout!
Judy - Yay for the knee!!!
Craig - I loved your post. I know I'm really new on here, but I love to see how supportive everyone is. I appreciate all the motiviation and inspiration everyone has given me so far in my short time on the boards. Thank you!!
TiffJ - Loved the Walt Disney quote at the end of the movie. It is a perfect moto to keep in mind!
Christa - Loved the pic of you as Spot. What exactly do you do that you get to dress up in such a cute costume and go do things for the Panther's?
Jenn - Welcome to the boards!
Dave - Unfortunately I didn't get to see the 3D version. Was it neat? We had an old cartoon of Mickey, Donald and Goofy building a boat out of a box. Cartoons have come so far nowadays. I still love the old classics!
Kiena - Congrats on being official for the race!

OK, time to get on with work... Have a great day everyone.

Oh my goodness! I am overwhelmed! :cloud9: You guys! Thank you all soooooo much! Look at all the responses! Oh thank you. You guys really are the best! Wow, that totally made my day. :goodvibes

Yahoooo is right! I am so glad I'm still in one piece. I must have really twisted it, but nothing is disconnected, thank goodness! So, baby, bring on the last leg (pardon the expression) of the Minnie training! I am SO ready! :woohoo:

And, to that end, I did 4 miles on the TM this morning at 4.0 @ 1%. I thought about going outside but it was still dark and so foggy. Plus with DH being away, even if I did have an ICE number on my phone, there would be no one to answer it. So, I opted for the TM and "The King and I" instead.;)

Thinking of Lynnda and Bill and wondering if I am a WISH Aunt yet....:rolleyes1

ScubaJim - Aren't you in Key Largo? My DH is there diving today. :cool2:

Jackie - Oh I'm glad I'm back! We had a great run this morning, didn't we! :thumbsup2 I too would prefer long distance to chess.

Carrie - Thank you so much for the shirts! Mine is, well, a little tight around the middle. However, that may be OK, it's way too long anyway so I may just cut the bottom off. Of course, won't THAT look nice with the Vista-Vision compression shorts! Don't worry, I'm still doing the Frozen Pea thing, and wearing my brace when I'm outside with the girls.

Jackie - I don't think I'll ever forget the paramedic looking at Judy and saying,"I think her color's better but it's hard to tell with teh reflction from that shirt."

Oh geez. I'll never live that one down. For any newbies....After the Half this year (My first ever distance event) I crossed the finish line, found out there were no Donald medals left, and passed out. I don't think the two things were related. Actually, in hindsight, it wasn't such a bad thing. I had several handsome young paramedics hovering over me. One, if I remember correctly, had his hand under my shirt. :rolleyes1 Plus then I got taken in a wheelchair to the bus, which was about a mile away. :thumbsup2 The free ride was very nice! I just may pass out again so I don't have to walk all the way over to the bus!

Mel - My next "step"?? Ha! You're a funny girl! :rotfl: My next step is to keep going! I'm so happy I feel elated today! YAY! What?? We're not FEATURED on the CD?? grrr. I promised DH I'd wait until he gets home to watch it. WHAT was I THINKING? He won't be home until Sunday. I don't know that I can hold out.

Kevin - And anyone else thinking of doing NYC....I got an e-mail from Running Room about the NYC ING Marathon. If you want to see it, PM me your email address and I will forward it. It mentions where you can get hotel packages. :thumbsup2

Laurie - Oh you went to Martinsville!? You're the Lucky Dog! Hey, the COT would be OK if it would stop going up in flames. ::yes::

Krista - I celebrated this morning by doing four miles with ease!!! :woohoo:

Cam??? Cam?!?!?!? HELLO, CAM?!?!?!

Heading to the Y w/ the kiddos for their gym & swim classes. I'll be on the TM for 5 miles which is sad because today is nice and the rest of the week is supposed to be cold/snowy. We won't need to color the eggs for the hunt. Just throw a dozen out in the snow and let the kids go.

Leana- Sorry about the snow up there. I don't want it here either. Also loved the Walt quote at the end of the Robinsons movie.

Laurie- Glad the car grew on you. Since my mother moved to Charlotte a couple years ago she's become quite the NASCAR fan. She will be glad to know it looks better in real life.

Judy- Did you ever get the Donald medal? The attractive medics would help soften the blow but still...

Judy- Did you ever get the Donald medal? The attractive medics would help soften the blow but still...

Oh yes! It took about half an hour but they "found" the missing pallet of boxes of medals and we all got them.

Not much would have softened the blow of training for 18 months only to not get a medal. But we did. :goodvibes

OK, wait. Maybe if George Clooney was one of the medics....

;)

Christa - Loved the pic of you as Spot. What exactly do you do that you get to dress up in such a cute costume and go do things for the Panther's?
OK, time to get on with work... Have a great day everyone.

What do I do...That is a great question!:confused3
Well I guess I have several jobs.
1. I am a LPC.....fancy title for childrens/teen therapist
2. I get dressed up and do shows for a Production Company I also work for. We sing, dance act...ect.
3. MOMMY, however is my full time job! ;)

Panthers thing went GREAT last night. I got to meet lots of football players (who I really didnot know who they were...SHHHHH :ssst: )

Judy! WTG! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Krista I think it is supposed to get cooler here too tomorrow.

Ran 3 yesterday then had to be at the show.....funny story!
We had sevral very quick changes of clothes during the show. We had to run to the room we changed in (undressing while we ran) and run back to dance/sing/ect.. Anywho, I said to one of the girls who I was singing with that I was sweating like I was running the 07 WDW marathon! She said..what are you talking about, what we are doing is harder than running a marathon. I said to her, You have never run a marathon b/4 have you? She said No...I said I can tell, if you had run a marathon, you would not have made that comment. She asked why. I told her that this was really nothing compared to a marathon....4+ hours of running 26.2 miles is not easy.

YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!! Thanks for representing!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I can't believe that someone challenged you on how difficult it is to run a marathon! Did you tell her that you have run several marathons? I think you know what you are talking about!

FIrst for a training report..I feel like it has been so long since my last run.

Since I am off from work this week, I was able to get my run in early...yippee!! And of course I had to sport my brand new WISH shirt!! Wow are they bright!!! But I love it!

I finished 5 miles in 46:52 with a 9:21 pace. And once again my last mile was my fastest in 8:50. I guess I need to work on my pacing a little more.

Now, I will try to catch up with everyone!

Hello Everyone,

I had a LR scheduled for yesterday. It was damp and dreary out and I really didn't want to go, but I did it anyway. It turned out to be one of the best runs I've ever had. I don't want it to sound like I'm boasting, but I figured if anyone would understand this feeling it would be my WISH teammates.

I planned 6.5 and it turned out to be 6.96 miles. I felt good the whole way. Since I don't stretch much I try to run the first mile pretty slowly. I was surprised to see my time for the first mile was almost a minute per mile faster than last week's LR. I kept that pace for the entire run. I kept waiting for it to catch up to me, but it never happened. I have been flying high since then. Maybe the speed work is working or maybe it was that piece of chocolate cake I had earlier in the day. I hope all of you have had this feeling. It definately keeps you coming back for more!

Congrats to all you Gator fans.

Matt: Thanks for the Youtube link. I've only had time to watch 2 of the segments, but I'll definately watch the rest when I find time. Can you even imagine the sense of accomplishment in finishing an Ironman? I've always loved that Seal song just for that line you quoted. There's a similar INXS song "we all have wings, but some of us don't know why."

Leana: Sorry about the snow. You really should go for your run today since it won't be any better tomorrow. That way your can enjoy the hockey game without having the workout hanging over your head.

Calcio: I love reading your posts. You are definately the philosophe. I think of you as the George Sheehan of our WISH team. I'm sorry you haven't found any locals who have reached out. I think people here tend to be a bit reserved at first. I am also a transplant to MA, but I've been lucky enough to have had a very different experience. Both my husband and my best friend grew up in MA. I'm glad your involvement with WISH has been so beneficial to you.

Christy: Congrats on your 5 mi run.

Bill/Lynnda: Sending best wishes your way today.

Angie: Sorry your work trip was so bad. Glad you're back into training.

Christa: Loved the Spot costume. Way to go on setting the record straight with your fellow dancer.

Becky::welcome:

Judy: Congrats on the good news for your knee.

Jackie: Nice job on the 3 miles.

Vic: Congrats on placing in your age group. So was it a PR for 9K?

Hoosmi: Great job on your race. I can't believe you were DLF with that pace. You may have to check out last year's results before choosing your next race to keep your friendly police man away. You deserved that fried oreo.

Jam217: Congrats on a great race.

Dave: Terrific race. Those hills looked tough.

Kristi: Great job on your race. To have hurt so much and still finish is a great accomplishment. I think to finish a tough race is far more rewarding than to breeze through a race.

Scott/Scoolover: Congrats on your race. Sorry your son had such a tough day.

Scott/Mogulskr: Great job, way to leave it out on the course.

Angie/Pungodingy: Congrats on finishing. I think I'll add that race to my list of must-miss races. I hope you are feeling better today.

Best wishes to all I've missed. Have a great day.

Cindy

Now, to try to catch up on this weeks posts:

Leana-Great job on your 5 miler! Hope the weather warms up for you really soon!

Craig--Awesome post! It is so true what you wrote, we do have lots of running buddies here!

Christy--WTG on running your 5 miles! That's awesome. Congrats to you on the Gators big win last night!

TiffJ--great job onyour LR!!

Jen--I have heard Brett Butler is hysterical...glad to hear you had a great time at the show! Nice job on your 7 mile TM run..not sure I could last that long on a TM!!

Bill and Lynnda--Nursery looks great! Hope all went well today, can't wait to hear!!!

Angie--sorry to hear the trip wasn't so fun. You are definetely a runner, you will do so great in the minnie...keep up the good work!

Dave--great job on your 15k. Who cares what place you come in, you ran a great race for you and that is all the matters! Keep up the good work!

Sunny--That RW issue was great, I was reading it yesterday in the car on the way home from the Nascar race. I was really motivated to run today! Good luck with your training for the VT marathon!

Becky---WELCOME to the boards!! You will love it here!

Judy--I am so glad to hear all is well with your knee--that is GREAT!!! You must be sooooooo excited!! Martinsville was awesome! That was our first time there and I can't wait to go back!! Dale Jr. led for awhile which I was super happy about, but the rain delay killed him. Tony did well to which was nice. Not so happy that Jimmie Johnson won and Gordon second....they are my two least favorite! Yeah, and Kevin Harvick jumped out of his burning car right near us...they need to do something about that!! Oh well, we had so much fun!!!

Kelley-Hope you have fun in Ft. Myers!

Stacey--I heard the Katherine Switzer book is great. I may have to head to the bookstore to pick myself up a copy..only problem is finding the spare time to read it!

disnutt--Yes, I hated the car last week, I was so mad they changed it, I thought it looked so boxy...but seeing it in person, it didn't feel so different, except for the wing. Your mom is so lucky to live in Charlotte...we are thinking of heading to CHarlotte for the fall race if all works out. Lowe's Motor Speedway is supposed to be really great!

Cindy--great job on your run!! Isn't it such a great feeling to have an awesome run! And we love hearing about everyone's awesome runs, so don't ever feel like your boasting!!

Sorry to those that I missed!!! Since I am off this week, I think i will be able to keep up a little better!!!

Have an awesome day!

Ok Mom, I'm just making sure that I make my point. And since I KNOW you'll be reading this thread, I figured there was no way you could possibly miss this message.

You
are
not
leaving
me
at
home
in
January.
Period, end of discussion.
Or else I will be forced to take some drastic measures
But you know I love you.

To everyone else on this board who now thinks I'm a total psycho, I apologize. Ask MouseDogMom about it, she'll explain.

Oh, all this talk about Halloween races, Flying Pig, Minnie and I can't do any of them!:sad2: DD7's first Girl Scout Camporee was changed to Pig/Minnie weekend, so I am definitely out because she wants me to camp with her. This surprised me because she is little Miss Independent.princess:

I want so badly to get together with you guys again. I am so jealous. Alright enough feeling sorry for myself.

On to training, at least I have a local half marathon in my hometown the first week in June to train for, so I was able to get 10 miles in today!! I am so excited because this is the longest run since Goofy! :woohoo: I could really feel the heat today but finished in 1:43, so that is just over a 10 min mile. The sun beating down on me reminded me of training through the summer and it didn't bring back pleasant memories.:scared: I started feeling my knees aching during my run?!?! I must get back in the gym and do some weights.

I hope we here from Bill soon!:yay:

Colleen

Oh look what I just received in my inbox::sad2: Talk about rubbing salt in my wounds.
