Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Mel - Thanks for adding us to the list!

Christy - That is so inspiring! I feel the same way about coming so far from only 90 seconds of jogging. I'm not up to an hour yet, but the 22 minutes I am up to still feels unbelievable! Keep up the good work. :thumbsup2

~Jenn~

Bill - Love the pics!! The room is great!

Stephanie - I didn't do hogeye. Phil was on call, so i would have had to run it w/ a soon to be 5yo!!

Christa - I hate doing taxes!! I didn't do them when i was self employeed. I sent them off! it is sooooo much easier now!!

OK, Matt I just went and downloaded Seal's "Crazy" covered by Alanis Morissette.

In a sky full of people, only some want to fly,
Isn't that crazy?
In a world full of people, only some want to fly,
Isn't that crazy?

I am listening to this as I read Craig's post!:grouphug:

Awesome, just awesome!!

The funny thing is while watching the video and seeing the lyrics I was thinking about flying down a hill on my bike, or flying across a finish line. But as I was readying tonight for my flight tomorrow which is something I do as a living for the AF I realized the completely different version of flying that could be a reference to. ;) Gotta love my job!

When I first got out of bed and got ready for work, I felt ok. Now that I am here at work, I am SORE! I guess that race yesterday did do a job on me!

Christa - thanks for reminding me that we need to do our taxes, and soon! We haven't even started them yet. Love the pic of you as Spot! :rotfl:

Craig - awesome post!

Bill - the room looks wonderful. I'll be thinking you you guys tomorrow!

I think I am going to take 2 or 3 days off from training before revving up again for the Minnie. ::MinnieMo

Excellent work there Bill. You look ready for the new arrival. How soon until the nursery is occupied?

As of right now, the baby will be born at 9:30 tomorrow (4/3) and will most likely be home on Friday.

I liked your previous post, it gave me alot to think about in the past couple of years of running and how things have gotten better overall.

Bill

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Thanks everyone for the congratulations on my 15K. You all are the best. I feel good about my time and 9:04 mpm pace, and I refuse to get discouraged coming in near last in my age group (and just about every other men age group too). I'm only competing with myself, and I'm OK with that.

Matt- I need to watch that video... especially if it uses a Seal song. I have a Seal CD, and I need to put some of that music in my running mix - I love "Crazy".

Martha- Awesome job on your 80 min this week!

Leana- Great job on your 5 miler too. We saw Meet the Robinson's this weekend too. We cashed in some Disney Reward Dollars for movie passes. It was a cute movie - we got to see it in 3D too. I loved the 3D Chip and Dale cartoon before the movie. I was so impressed with the original 3D technology from 1950. I also liked the "Keep Moving Forward" motto in Meet the Robinsons, I was using that with my princesses princess: princess: for their running. Oh, what the heck, I was saying it to myself in the last 2 miles of my race yesterday too.

Craig- your post really got me. You were right on. I had started and stopped running so many times since my kids were born. It wasn't until I found this group and I got the motivation to keep at it and keep training from my new found teammates and friends. The training partners I have here are the best. You all have helped me achieve a lifelong goal that I never thought possible.

Christy- Wow, good for you with your 5 miles straight with no walking breaks. That's fantastic!

Kevin- WTG on keeping up with your training. Hope you can post more often. So have you been able to switch jobs yet, or do you have to wait until this academic year is over?

Tiff- I forgot about the Walt quote at the end of Meet the Robinson's - that was the bomb (to quote AI's Randy Jackson). Great job on your 6 miler.

Howdy Jen :wave2:, I caught a "Great Hotels" show on Wilderness Lodge on the Travel Channel yesterday. It brought back some good memories. You know, you might have been the first WISHer, I actually met. Hey, I'm impressed you got to the gym to do your 7 miles on the TM with everything you had going on over the weekend. Good for you!

Bill- Great pix of the nursery. Our DD6 princess: is such a Pooh fan pooh: pooh: pooh:. She would just love that room! All my best for the delivery - it's this week, right?

Angie- You are so much a runner. So what if you had to take a week off. You muscles are probably all healed up and ready to go again. You go girl! You are going to rock the Minnie! Sorry your trip wasn't great, was that a WDW trip?

Christa- Love the picture of you in your Spot costume. Have fun with the Panthers fundraiser.

Jenn/Plgrn- That is so great that you are running 22 minutes straight. That is awesome!

Hi Melissa :wave2: - are you recoverd from your 24h race yet?

Hi Colleen :wave2: - are you coming out to do the Pig? You've really got me thinking about my Fall marathon plans. I'm worried I'm going to miss all the races with my team mates.

Kristi- sounds like you need a cold water soak after your 1/2 marathon. I think I'm going to do a SWOG today.

Where's Lily?

Life is way too busy these days. I try to read the thread at least once per business day, but I can't squeaze in the time to reply.:sad2:

I'm still training for the VT marathon, Memorial Day, but I have my doubts. My LR this weekend was 13.5 miles but it was supposed to be 17. Just when I had decided to throw in the towel on it, my RW arrived with all of it's inspirational stories, so I'm still in training!

Sunny

Bill- Awwww! That's so sweet. Best wishes for the mother-to-be for an easy delivery.

Christa-My 6 yo DD thought your dog picture was pretty cool. That must be lots of fun to do.

Sunny- Isn't it great when inspiration comes at just the right time? I've always wanted to do the VT run. I lived in CT for 5 yrs and worked out of VT at least once/wk. Loved it there.

Craig-I haven't been here that long but your post made me feel that I've come to the right place for support.

To everyone else, have a great day.

:yay: Had to mail my DVC member marathon registration in to save my $5 (hey that's a turkey leg at MK!) and just saw on my statement that the fee went through! I'm official!:woohoo:

Hi everyone, I am new to the Wish boards. I have just started training for the minnie (doing both the 5k and 15K). I am mostly a walker, and am trying to incorporate running in. I did my first LR on sat and did 4 miles in 49 min. My goals for the next year are the minnie, RFTT, and then maybe the 1/2 in Jan. I look forward to training and talking with all of you!

Sunny- I was thinking about you just this morning and wondering how you were doing. Hang in there. I wanted to WISH you all the best. Good luck in getting through your training for the VT marathon. You're getting to the really hard part of it now. Hang in there!!! Keep Moving Forward!

Did you guys watch any of the Disney shows on the Travel Channel this weekend? Some of them were pretty old, but they were still very exciting. I like that they show you the rooms I'll never be able to afford at the deluxe resorts. Very cool! :thumbsup2

I did 6 miles on Saturday morning. My knee hurt for a few steps at 5.45 mi, but I walked a bit and it was fine. Today it is a little swollen but feels much much better. I am cautiously optimistic. Remind me of that when I get back from the doctor's office, will ya? :rolleyes1

Here are my splits. Although, in light of the speediness we seem to be having around here, I suppose I should be embarrassed by my times. However, I was so happy to be able to do it at all, well...here they are:

Mile 1: 14:09
Mile 2: 13:50
Mile 3: 11:49
Mile 4: 12:39
Mile 5: 13:56 (This was up a looong loong hill)
Mile 6: 11:11

Jackie - Am I back yet? ;)

Lynnda
- :wizard: for tomorrow! Bill, keep us posted! The nursery looks adorable!

Christa
- Thank you very much for thinking of me. Charlie is in Florida, so he's missing all the crankiness. Even though I am still training, well, I'm still cranky. Lets see what the Dr has to say today. Spot! Oh how cute! :goodvibes

Susie - Where are you going in Italy? Last summer we went for the first time. My MIL rented a villa in Tuscany. It was GORGEOUS there, but the MIL thing, well, that's a whole 'nother post! :sad2:

Kristi - Thank you for thinking of me too. We'll know today. I have the MRI films with me. I wish I could read them. But that's what Dr HHBL is for I guess!

Craig
- I hope you are feeling better today. :flower3: Your post was so touching. So insightful. I was just this weekend thinking about what I have done in the last 18 months. Prior to my accident, I could not have told you when the last time was I had actually "ran". If someone was chasing me with a hatchet, I'd just have to lay down and let him have at it. But now, if I want to know how long it's been since I ran, I can look at my watch and figure it's been a couple of hours, at best. I don't want to mention any names either, as so many of you have played a big part in getting me to the finish line. Especially you, Craig. You've said so many things that have helped me. But there is one person hear who is solely responsible for getting me to the starting line. Cam found me elsewhere on the Boards and brought me over here. She had more faith in me that I could do this. She's been phenomenally supportive of me. And for that I can never thank her enough. And for all that everyone has done to motivate me, educate me, humor me, support me...thank you.

Dave - I saw that show on the WL too! :thumbsup2 They showed the balcony where we got married and I got all misty eyed. Gosh I love that place! :cloud9:

Sunny -

Just a drive by from me today; and this may be my only post of the week. On Wednesday we're heading to Ft. Myers, FL to spend a long Easter weekend with my mom and stepdad.

I should do a 12mi LW on Saturday, but won't be able to do it at Mom's. So, instead, I'll do it Wednesday morning at home before we depart.

:welcome: Becky!

Becky - Hi and Welcome! I am an events newbie as well. Sure hope you decide to do the 1/2 in January! :goodvibes

, my RW arrived with all of it's inspirational stories, so I'm still in training!

Did you think the article in RW about Katherine Switzer was neat? I really enjoyed reading it. I'm deciding whether or not to get the book.

Did my 3 miles this a.m. 13:34:banana: 13 is my new lucky number!!!

Kristi-I think you deserve/need to take a few days off before revving up again for Minnie. Esp with all those hills

Sunny:wizard: for your training!

Judy-awesome times!! You are still way speedier than me :)

Becky-welcome!!! There are alot of us mostly walkers. And watch out, these races are adicting (as I see you already have a schedule) and in turn are expensive when you dont live in Orlando! It's worth every penny:thumbsup2
See you at the Minnie!

Bill-the nursery is beautiful. Mine was also yellow w/Pooh. :wizard: for Lynnda & the new arrival!

Cam-I do not see how you get your training done with all the work you do. You are "da (wo)man"

Good afternoon TEAM!!!! Happy April!! Yesterday was a rest day for me. Today I have 4 miles and then light weight lifting and toning. That's more for bathing suit season than running though. ;)

Lynnda and Bill--I love the nusery, it looks great! Enjoy your last night together with Billy and get plenty of sleep. I think you will need it! I'll be praying for you tomorrow.

Kristi--Congrats on the PR!! That's fantastic!   I agree with Tiff, take a couple of days off, let your booty heal itself from the hills and then start revving up for Minnie.

Craig--Thank you for that post! Every bit of it is true for me too, I am so thankful for the support, encouragement, sympathy when needed, and most of all friendship I get every day from every single person on the WISH team. There have been so many times you guys helped me through hard times (injuries), celebrated with me in victories, and challenged me to be a better and stronger runner. I can't thank you all enough.

Tiff--You are posting killer times! Did the aliens get you??!! Congrats!

Dave--Congrats on your 15K! That's a fabulous time! Just think how much faster you would have been if you were feeling 100%!

Christa/Spot--You make an adorable dog! :)

Sunny--We've missed you! But I understand that sometimes LTO and there isn't much you can do about it. I love how RW comes at the most perfect time every month. That magazine has lifted me out of a funk on more than occasion. I love it!

Becky--Welcome!

Judy--:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your knee! I can't believe you are still training on it. You are hard core!

Kelley--Have a wonderful time in FL!

Angie--  :wizard:

What an afternoon!!!
