Wk of 20 July - WISH Walking/Running Club

UGH! My 30 minute upper body/core strength training session with my personal trainer wiped me out this morning. I wonder if it might be because of the 3 TRILLION calories I ate this weekend. Did I say "UGH!"? Biked for 20 minutes, too. Howard is doing cross training at the Y tonight, so I'll probably go with him and just bike some more. My workout buddy and I are planning to run tomorrow morning. :cool1:

Jeff: Whew! I feel tired just reading your post.

Leana: Wow great job on getting the 18 miler done! Definitely a rest day is in store.

Tracy: Gee I don't think I've ever gotten drier on a run. I just rate my summer runs by how much sweat I can wring out of my clothes when I'm done! "Pinky Pistols"! Cute! My [laptop] computer randomly decides that it can't run off its battery and has to be plugged in. *sigh* and there's the fact that the hinges won't move....hmm it has become a desktop. How exciting getting ressies! What does your package include?

Terri: I hope your friend is alright. Hydrate hydrate hydrate that's my motto! Was it cooler when you were running?

Jen: How nice of your DD to act as cheerleader! :cheer2: Nice sewing!

Michelle: Glad you're feeling better. "Oh...and BTW...where do people that live in HI go on vacation???" Disney, of course!!!

Cam:oooo 3 trillion calories eh? that must have been yummy! Good job getting training in.

:flower3:

I've been getting my runs in early to try and beat the heat (a little anyway). During my lunch break, I usually go up to the gym and strength train or swim. I'm looking forward to the end of summer school when I can go home and kayak some though!

Aloha Jeff: Oh, I know what CliffsNotes. I used to assign books that had no Cliffsnotes so students had to read everything to get the full effect of the prose. Sound familiar? ;) :lmao:

You sound as if you had a fun-filled movie-watching (popcorn-eating?) weekend, and running, and table duty at the clinic, and the blood drive... How do you fit it all in? At least you prioritized movies this weekend--a man after my own heart. I'm still trying to convince DOOD that Wall-E is worth a look for him (I've seen it). I love reading your training plan, if for no other reasons than it's both ambitious and easy-to-remember! Given my memory, that latter is especially attractive! :lmao:

Angie: Great job on your easy-pace 3 miler. Keep up the good (and smart) work!

Stephanie: That's so sweet of you to say I "misread" your post. That gives my response way too much credit. Geez, I wasn't even close--like I didn't read it at all! (Maybe I need my own CliffsNotes?) That said, I think I'm jealous you get to work at the gym. A dream job!

Jackie: I'm glad your DD thinks something is as good as a Dole Whip. I'll test out her theory, but I can't quite buy it. Any more than I can buy the idea that Man U and Ronaldo will quit bickering any time soon, especially after Man U's decision to not offer him a pay increase. How was this weekend's fartlet run with your group?

Kate: WTG with your longest-since Minnie 7.1 miler! Good time AND you enjoyed the rain. Sounds about perfect for you! :cheer2:

Jennifer: Congratulations on your 5K and your 3rd in AG placement. It's great to meet your goals so soon--you get to set up new ones! :woohoo: I know 26 minutes is already in your sights.

Liz: Yep, it sounded like you volunteered to help with volunteering. That's doing double-duty, isn't it?

Maura: That's a great pace with your bike riding. There's just no way you qualify for any sort of official or honorary slug membership. Especially if you're have enough energy to volunteer and the upbeat attitude to go with it. (I don't think slugs are sappy. Slimy, maybe, but not sappy.)

Cam: I think you did a fabulous job on your 5K for the conditions. And, even more important, I think you're doing a great job keeping motivated with your races, looking at your performance in perspective, and as you put it:
...control[ling] our attitudes and our effort under the circumstances. We need to go into it with the best attitude we can and give the best we have in us at the time. Thank you for teaching me this
Ah, grasshopper, it is YOU who are teaching us.

And then, to have a well-earned and needed rest day. That's an athlete in training, that is! Great job with all the crunches and push-ups. (You know how I feel about them, so thanks for taking on a few on my behalf. ;) ) Good luck in court this week! (p.s. 3 trillion calories and an upper-body/core WO? You're always an overachiever! :lmao:)

Howard: The Blood Bank of Delmarva's 5K turnout was great!! As for your night run...well, as long as it was as short run and you wore reflective tape.... And I'm sure deserted neighborhood streets are fine, so long as they're not named Elm Street and a man named Freddie isn't your neighbor. :rolleyes1 Glad you avoided all sorts of horror-movie scenarios & didn't get wet.

Leana: WTG on your 18-miler (and your rest day)! And for making your January resort reservations. I expect a full review of Le Cellier when the time comes; you are our native Canadian informant you know, and I demand info about the restaurant's authenticity! :lmao:

Racey Tracey: Pinky pistols! :rotfl2: Never heard of the term--that means I'm always armed and dangerous! Yay for your 8 miler, btw! I'm jealous you're staying at the Poly for marathon weekend, but also happy for you. That's a great way to commemorate your mother's first 5K. You've a great daughter! :thumbsup2

Vic: Great job with completing the mission as assigned. What do you like about the Pearl Izumis? (I like their clothes....)

Terri: Congratulations and a big woo hoo on your relay. You all did great! You're time estimation was really, really close (I'd call it spot-on)! I'm sorry to hear about your #4 teammate--that's a bit scary. Hopefully it doesn't scare her off doing future events. Your own performance rocked, too!

Cindy: Welcome to the weekly thread! You've already racked up the miles and minutes over the weekend. Sounds like you're a multi-sport athlete, as well! :cheer2: Be careful with that ankle (as it sounds like you're doing.)

Jen: So you decide not to run and instead end up biking and lugging not just milk but DD5 in a trailer??? :rotfl: A very good workout, I'm sure. And I just have to say that you're such a talented seamstress. Your DDs are so lucky to have such cool and age-appropriate outfits to wear to Disney. (Age-appropriate? When did I become my mother?)

Stacie: You did GREAT on your 5K. And I loved the orange smile! :yay:

MB Michelle: Yay for getting in your 4 miler. Double yay for your perspetive on the DL 1/2 as your fun run! :thumbsup2

Kristi: Thanks to you and Judy for setting up the volunteering. I'm eagerly tuned in for volunteering for the 1/2.....:surfweb: My ILs say they're still interested in volunteering. We'll see what happens when I tell them the shifts and check-in times. :rolleyes1

Claire: When does school end? It's got to be close, right? Kayaking sounds like a lot of fun!

As for me: A weekend of fun (The Dark Knight, car show/auto race, picnics) and minimal working out. Not much to report, except it was fun.

:woohoo: As of 7/21/08 41 days to the 5K and 42 days to the Half.

I need some inspiration, please. Or at least a good swift kick to get me in motion again!

Only 4 weeks left before I'm supposed to start my training plan for the RnR Half, and I can't seem to get out of my own way! I've only been managing one run a week, if that. I just haven't been able to push myself to just get on the TM and do it (WAAAY too hot for outdoor runs around here).

*sigh*

I really want to do the Half (it'll be my first ever), but I'm beginning to doubt that I'm going to be able to put the steps in to train. :sad1:

Sorry for the all about me downer post. I swear I'll come back and catch up with everyone eventually!

/
Go Ang:cool1: Go Ang:cool1: You can do it!

Terri

ANG, Ang, Angie what are we going to do with you.
Just think of all of us getting out there in the heat and humidity!!! Me with my drippiness, pinky pistols, head dripping with sweat, leaving a lake behind me and you getting down on yourself, come on - get real!!!!

Sorry about that.......did it help?????

While you are bending over for Jeff to give you a boot in the booty, I will add 10 lashings with a wet noodle!!:lmao:

Now get out there and do it and keep us informed, even if it isn't that far, something is better than nothing.

Tracy

Go Ang, Go Ang, you can do it, you can do it!:dance3:

I have been horrible at checking this thread. I really do need to pop in more and see how everyone is doing. I do post on my Team Five thread (Hi Heroes!) but it's a tad quiet over there most times (insert crickets).

I have been doing a 3R/2W and think I have found something that works for me. It feels good. I'm getting faster times than I was doing the 6/2 I did for a little while or the just random run till I need to stop and take a break. This seems a good fit right now so I'm going to stick with it.

Hope you all have a fantastic week! Stay cool!:woohoo:

Allyson

Claire: My ressie is just the Basic Marathon Package which doesn't include dining or park tickets (FL res pass). So we do get vouchers for miniature golf, luggage tag per person, photopass certificate and what ever else. Last year we did get upgraded to the concierge building, so crossing my fingers and hoping that that happens again. (its always good to WISH!!)

I wanted to report that my XT day was "XT-ey". I went to the YMCA tonight with DS. I managed 3.37 miles on the stationary bike. I was over three minutes ahead of the pacer when I finished. I lifted weights with my DS (showing how to lift, etc.) for 15 minutes and used the elliptical XT machine to the tune of 3.1 miles in 26.5 minutes.

I ran in excess of 24 miles in training this week! :thumbsup2 :cool1: :yay: :dance3: I guess I ain't dead just yet. :lmao:

Ang~ Don't make me report you to Vic... if he gets wind of this you are in BIG trouble. Get out there and "Just Do It!"

Happy training athletes!

:grouphug:

Howard

GOOD MORNING TEAM!!!

Jeff: Thanks for the constant inspiration and I am in love  with my new Chi Running video
Leana: 18!!! WoW I can honestly say I have never done that, great job. I would REALLY love your opinion on Le Cellier as it is our FAVORITE restaraunt in the whole resort next to Ohana.
Tracy: Great job getting out there for 8, I was completely soaked at the end of my short run last night, I hear ya!! We did the water stop for the full at mile 2 last year and it was A LOT OF FUN!!! And it was great because I still got to the boardwalk in time to see some of the first finishers as well as all our WISH er's. We stayed until the very last guys went by. It was amazing and such an inspiration.:)
Vic: Hey, what's up!!! Good job on the 4.
Terri: AMAZING JOB ON YOUR RACE IN THAT HEAT!!!! Way to go!! :yay: Sorry to hear about your team mate, I am always so worried about that.
Cindy: :welcome: WE are so glad you are here!!!!
Jen: Great way to get in a work out and the outfits are adorable!!!!princess:
Stacie: Great attitude about your race!!! :woohoo: That's awesome, can you rub off some of that positive thinking on me!!
Howard: Sorry your run got cut short, but I have had many thunderstorms as "motivation" to run faster. As far as 9:30 you gotta get those runs in when you can right? Good job on the 24, I can't wait until I am back up there!!
Michelle: Glad you got over your cold and good job getting the run in.
Cam: :worship: 100 Pushups and crunches!!! You go girl I will have to try that some time!!!
Claire: Sounds like your work outs are going well when does your summer school end?
Debra: Sounds like a nice weekend, how was the movie, is it as dark as everyone says, I am locked in a battle with DS 12 over whether he can see it or not.
Ang: :dance3: Go girl, get out there, put the steps in :yay: and I promise if you check in here every day and stay accountable you can do it, I PROMISE!!!!!
Allyson: It's hard to post on both threads isn't it and I have not even been posting my training over there because there has not been much to speak of but if you guys will have me back I will start posting my training again.

As for me:

Did 3.4 last night in 34 and everything feels good so far. As everyone else is talking about, heat was insane!!!! Did watch a little of Chi running first so tried to incorporate some of the posture techniques and saw immediate results. Seriously, what a difference!!

On tap for tonight, step class at the gym. For now trying to put a little time between runs to try to continue to give knee a break.

Morning all! Weekend was a run-free weekend, but full of painting as I decided to channel my inner Martha Stewart and paint DDs room. Yesterday I took DD to kid's Zumba, so we got our "workout" in together. Today is a running day--we'll see how many miles I actually do--shooting for 5.

Angie--glad to hear that your run was pain free. Have fun with step class tonight

Debra--you are too funny! So now I know how you can write such novels of posts--just make something up!:rotfl2:

I took yesterday off - which means about 8 miles of errands - lol

today though, I was 1 hour on the bike (21.6 miles) and a three mile power walk. And I am down 9lbs in the last 2 1/2 weeks, so I pretty pumped!

Thanks for the welcome!

My son and I signed up for the Everest 5K as well as the other one at WWOS on October 5, so I can't wait!

A quick drive-by to post my training from this morning:

Miles: 3.01
Time: 28:05
Pace: 9:19

Splits:
9:22
9:49
8:52

Have a great day everyone!

:grouphug:

Howard

Well, I got to the gym and hopped on the treadmill. I ended up with a total of 5.3 miles in 50:00:cool1: With 5 of the miles in 48:00!!!!! That's the furthest I've run since the marathon in January. I had just lost the love of running, just really burned out. But guess what? Today's run was great and even better FUN! No pain, just me doing my thing! I think I was inspired a bit by watching Le Tour de France while jogging along. Those guys are amazing. I actually almost "Pulled a Carrie" while watching them (for those of you who don't know pulling a carrie would be falling off the back of the treadmill). Great to be back in the groove again!:thumbsup2

Hi guys! I didn't make it out of the bed this morning for C25K. ugh. I have the hardest time getting out of bed! I did bike last night though. 4.82 miles in 31 min. From seeing what others so, seems like I'm crawling!

I'm just starting to look into this bike thing...Anyone have helpful pointers or tips???

Angie...Glad you are currently pain free!

Stephanie...Yay for having a fun run!!! That's great!

Howard...Your runs are looking good! Where's Cam? Tell her to get out here and let us know how she is doing!

Tracy...Did you make your ressie online? Is the room discounted? I am looking at doing a split stay so not sure how to go about doing that. We won't be needing tickets as we have APs (that run out on Saturday of Marathon Weekend. ugh) and I haven't decided about the dining yet.

Happy training everyone!!!
Stacie
