Wk of 20 July - WISH Walking/Running Club

Jeff: Why do you do this to us???? Why why? At least it's morning when I read this and I just brushed my teeth.

Disney needs to set up an ice cream aid station right near the end of the Marathon mmmm now that's a motivator!

:cool2: (<sun glare)

Claire,

I'm just providing information to any WISHers who don't subscribe to Runners World. Honest! :lmao:

The Ford Island Bridge run here is sponsored by Meadowgold Dairy. They hand out popcicles, fudgecicles, chocolate milk, and Passion Orange Guava (POG) juice at the end of the race. It's really the way to cool down.

Yeah, Disney could take a hint from the race organizers here.

Howard, we're working on formulating a pre-run fueling up that consists of ice cream and alcohol. We'll get back to you on that one.

:lmao:

Hey, forget the Dairy Queen Thin Mints Blizzard - I'll take a Margarita Float any day! ;)

I don't post much on the weekly thread, so hello all! I had a great couple of weeks of running but this week hasn't been so great. I was on the treadmill on Monday and felt a little soreness in my calf, nothing bad at all. A couple of miles in, it got really sharp, like a cramp. I got off the treadmill and iced it, but it's still kind of painful. Walking is OK, I can point & flex my foot with no pain at all, but when I put weight on it and do calf raises or something like that, it still twinges. Just a strain, do you suppose? I've taken the past 2 days off but I'm gonna try it again in the morning. Hopefully it's no biggie.

I am 99% certain I'm going to do the Princess half! Spent more than an hour last night IMing with my former neighbor & running partner. She moved to NC a few years ago - we decided to meet up in Disney World and do that race. I'm excited!

I love reading all of your daily reports - y'all are so motivating. I have to get some better cross-training in. All I do is run. And yet I wonder why I have floppy old lady arms in a tank top - hmmmmm......

Have a good rest of the week!

Kayci

Hey Team! Just wanted to let you know that Krista and I have a good excuse for not posting over the past few days. We made a little midnight visit to the hospital the other day and......well, our family has grown by one more! We posted some pics, here is the link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1895201

We'll try to catch up with you all later and we'll definitely let you know how everything is going!

Steve

Happy, Happy news, Stephen & Krista! God Bless both of you and Carter! He is absolutely gorgeous! :grouphug:  :lovestruc

Congratulations Krista, Steve, and Hines! :cheer2:

You beat the expected delivery date! I can only warn you that there is another race registration fee in your future. LOL.

Best WISHES.

Evening all. No training to report for me today. Just spent 8 hours in the car driving my visiting nephew up to Traverse City Michigan today. Long day, but gorgeous weather, the Tigers on the radio (yeah they won!) and...Jeff, are you listening..... Thin Mint Blizzards on the way home! I must admit though, I would have rather liked chocolate or vanilla ice cream in it and not mint.

Cngrats, Steve and Krista!
Carter is adorable. Let the sleepless (but happy) nights begin!
Maura

Is Carter doing the Diaper Dash during the kids races? ;)

Just enjoy this "baby" time - before you guys know it, he will be running around like a lunatic and driving both of you & Hines nuts!
But nuts in a good way.

I miss the times of just holding Zack in the crook of my arm or on my shoulder as I watched tv, surfed the net, etc. I was constantly kissing the top of the poor kid's head. That is awesome stuff - ENJOY IT!

Kristi--I miss those times as well. Now, I feel like I spend a majority of my time breaking up fights around here. Who knew having a boy and a girl 23 months apart would cause so much conflict around here!

Krista, Steve, and Little Carter--Congratulations to all! Can't wait to meet the little one in January!

Okay, for the training bit. 10 miles on the bike trainer in 41:00. Ankle is hurting a little, not sure what that's about. But I'll try to rest it as much as I can!

Hi, WISH teammates! We just got home from a week (okay, only six days, but close enough) at the Wilderness Lodge. I didn't want to leave! I have to go to work tomorrow (!), and then I go to teacher camp next week. I'll try to catch up tomorrow night/Friday.

I did NOT get to eat a Dole whip. :( That is now priority 1 on the next trip (tentatively scheduled for Marathon weekend, but I'm dreaming about food and wine). Sorry for anyone I said I would eat a Dole Whip for. I'll make it up next time.

Oh Duckie: You come, you go, hello, goodbye, it is all such a dizzying experience. Hope you had a good time.

So sad you have to go back to work. (Like the rest of us, hehe)

Maura

Maura,

It was vanilla ice cream, they just added in the green syrup to make it look green, and taste minty. I guess we could try and ask them to just put in the cookies. Never hurts to just ask.

So sad you have to go back to work. (Like the rest of us, hehe)

Racey Tracy,

Those of us headed to the Disneyland Half next month will just have to post pictures, and write stellar race reports for those who aren't going. Especially of the "Coast to Coast" medals dangling around our necks.

Just a way to get even for all of those who ditched us this summer for vacation, and left us behind to do all the work.
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Tracy-
We had a great time. I loved the Lodge!

And I only work tomorrow. I'm off except for one other day in August. But next week I'm at teacher camp. :)

Jeff: See there goes Duckie again rubbing in her "teacher's vacation" and yes our coast to coast bling bling will take care of that. Still thinking about wearing my on my flight home, but not sure is TSA will accept that or not.

Duckie: I have off the first 4 days that school starts here, hehe. We are very slow at my office during that time.

Debra: I wasn't in your last post, I'm a sad Racey Tracy:sad1: !! Hope all is well with you and all that......

I just got up from doing my Pilates for Dummies DVD. I'm now catching, "So you think you can dance." I like this show, such wonderful dancers (with nice bodies). I like Katee alot.

Only 15 days until the OLYMPICS!!!
5 weeks and 3 days til DL 1/2!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Day off tomorrow!!
-Tracy
aka, Racey Tracy, Mount Trashmore Girl, Dirty Girl, Pinky Pistols Girl, Noodle Lashing Extrodinaire!! (and anything else I can come up with :lmao: )

Said the girl who didn't work today! :rotfl:  :rotfl2: :lmao: :happytv:

My wife teaches year-round here. She works 40 work days, not including weekends or holidays, and then is off 21 days in between sessions. I never know if she's going to work, or staying home in her pajamas all day. At Christmas time, she's of a whopping 5 1/2 weeks for her "Summer Break" (even though it's Winter).

Wait a minute, Duckie, you were at WDW in May for the Minnie? And you went back two months later for a stay at Wilderness Lodge. LUCKY YOU!!!

Yes, I work a 4 day work week aprox 37 hours or so. (Please I think that is enough with seeing aprox 100 patients or more a day most of them the middle school teenage grumpy kind!)

Yeah, I remember Duckie saying that her DH told her they had to take a break from vacations at WDW and then she ends up at the deluxe Wilderness Lodge. Poor Duckie. (I'm sure it was very nice though!) I love eating at the Whispering Canyon Cafe!! It is a blast.

Jeff-

Um, about that trip. I was technically on "mickey restriction," but DH had a change of heart three weeks ago and said we could go (we try to go every summer). Full disclosure: I was there for a weekend in December (Beach Club), two weeks in August (split between Pop, my parents' condo, and POR), and last July for a week (Beach Club again). So...I've been going a lot. DH would say too much.

I think he's seriously considering DVC so that I had a set allotment of points and I couldn't keep going all the time. :rotfl:

I'm lucky he loves Mickey Mouse, too. :)

(but I've never been to Disneyland! I had tried to talk him into the DL half after the Minnie, but he was VERY clear in his NO). (Maybe next year)

Don't feel guilty Duckie, no need to explain your love for the mouse and his world.

I don't have any guilty feelings. See, for the past 2 years, 3 years counting next month, I head off to Disneyland to run the Half, WITHOUT my wife or kids.

Reasons: A) They're in school B) Cost of airfare, hotel, meals, park hoppers C) It's an adult trip with my friends that I race with.

Don't fret, they did go with me to WDW for 10 days in January, before the Goofy. We spent 10 days at the Old Key West, using our DVC points. We own in Saratoga Springs, but find OKW has bigger one bedrooms. After they left, I stayed another 5 days for the races at Pop Century.

Also, we're planning on banking our points for 2010, for a combination Disney Cruise, and WDW Goofy trip. Have to wait for the cruise dates to be released before we can actually figure out how to maximize our points.

We're a family that suffers with Disneyitis, and there's only one cure for that.

Hey guys! I have a training question... When I did my calculations for a 14 week training plan, it has me starting my 1/2 Marathong training the week of 10/6. I've seen here and there where it looks like most are starting in Sept. Am I missing something? Should I extend it out to a 16 week plan and try to get in a 13 mile run? It currently has the LR at 10 miles.

What do you think? This will be my first 1/2!!!

Thanks!
Stacie

Hello team!

Training is going well. I swam 1500m this morning, then I'll be off to boot camp tonight. Our session this evening is billed as "Total Body Endurance." I'm scared..!

I've figured out a way to recover from my marathon on August 24th... I found a sprint pool tri on September 1st just outside of Edmonton. I'm not sure if I'll regret signing up or not since I'll only have a week off! It is the last tri of the season.:sad1:
