WISH Away the Pounds Outstanding October Challenge -- Everyone welcome!

Qotd--I exercise at different times depending on what I have planned. Today it's right after work--I am taking a strength class and then walking my mile. The important thing for me is to have a plan and a schedule. I won't skip if I have a plan.

Favorite exercise--probably running though it has been very hard on me lately.

Have a great Monday!

Whew! I have been away too long!
I did have a pretty bad week and I am going into this one positive I will do better! I do feel I may be coming down with something. :sad1:
Hopefully it isn't anything to serious.

QOFD-

1) I run in the morning, and I do strength or cross training in the afternoon.
2) I love running! I also like yoga when I can get some in.

Have a great day everyone!

Morning! Kids are off today, but I'm not...hopefully DH is up soon because I have so much work to do!

Question of the Day

This is a two part question.

1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?

2. What is your favorite exercise?

1. It varies. I'm often running for exercise, and I find that that's either an early or late thing, hardly ever in the middle of the day. That's partly weather-driven (high sun!) and partly logistical because of having to get showered and changed after I run.

2. Running! I also use our stationary bike and do occasional Jillian workouts (usually Ripped in 30). What I really need to do is get a core regiment going. After my physical therapy stint (for a mild achilles issue) I found I really liked the Bosu ball I used there, and I'm thinking about getting one for the house. That would help with core and stability exercises, and I think we could justify it because DH would use it, too.

Morning all and Happy Columbus day to my US friends!

Taking DD back to school today and we just made the decision to leave a bit earlier than I had originally planned, so I need to get flying along. Fortunately I finished all of her laundry yesterday. I just need to sort through the last white load and pull out her stuff and she will be packed up and ready to head back!

Off to make a nice family breakfast to enjoy together! BBL to chat..........P

QOTD: 1) I usually walk 4 miles a day but only on days I don't work. I work 3 days a week so that leaves 4 days to walk and if I'm on call I walk those days too. Time of day varies due to weather. It's hot and humid in south Texas!
2) I usually enjoy walking and ballroom dancing the most. I enjoy the peace of walking with my headphones and music or walking with my husband and talking. And the dancing is just plain fun! I don't even notice that I'm exercising.

I lost this week (4 lbs) but I was sick most of the week. My diet was primarily soup, Popsicles and tea. :sick:
Maybe next week ill keep it off and maybe lose a little more

So sorry that you were sick and hope that you are feeling better now! :flower3:

Question of the Day

List three things that you feel helps you successful with losing weight.

1. Standing on the WW scale every week.
2. Honest tracking including proper portion control.
3. ActiveLink to help me with activity (when I can work out again).

Magdalene and ARG, I feel your pain with the poof fairy! :hug:

Rose, sorry for the injury! :flower3: Glad to hear that your sweet doggie is doing better. :goodvibes

Just brought my friend to the station, so now I have to track yesterday's damage!!! :faint: It was not that bad, really. Just that last cocktail I rather should not have had... We went clothes shopping together and it was a lot of fun as we tried on some stuff that I normally would never have tried on my own! And I looked great in it. So today is back to a healthy routine!

What a great NSV! :goodvibes

Happy news today! I hit the "overweight" level and am forever out of "obese" category! It's a small victory, but something that has been important to me.

:woohoo: That is a fabulous victory! :yay:

Question of the Day

I want to do a fun one today.

Before I went to DW this past Aug I got an App for my nook so that I could see how the lines were. This App also tells me a rating for attendance for each day. For example today is a 9 out of 10. It has been interesting to see what each day has been rated. When we were there in Aug most of our days were 4/10 or 3/10 and we loved it.

Do you have a favorite time or event to go to Disney World?

Our favorite time to go to WDW was in January right after MLK Day. Sure some things were always down for rehab but the parks were so not crowded and it was great for when DS was little and could be taken out of school for a week. Now that he is older we are relegated to school holidays and the crowds that come with them. The last time the family went to WDW was for Christmas in 2009 and it was crowded but still very fun to see all the decoration. :santa:

I would love to be going DLR right now so I could enjoy Haunted Mansion Holiday! :love:

Good afternoon!

Went to a gorgeous park near my house today to get my long run in. It is a 6 mile loop around a really nice lake so I go there for anything 6+. Today was 6 and it was a decent prep for the two races I am doing next weekend. Hoping I can shave a few minutes off of the time today next Saturday at the Runner's World 10K. Shouldn't be too hard as long as I don't drink a (big) bottle of Arbor Mist the night before like I did last night.:sad2:

Nice training run! :cool2: Good luck with your races next week-end! :cheer2:

Pamela, glad that you could have a week-end with your DD and give her some TLC. :hug:

THAT time of month= 3 gained pounds over night

sdfkanliuefdnjksxnvcuiwnelsdihkxflaniedks!!!!

pixiedust: that gain is gone as quickly as it showed up!

Liz, congrats on your race this week-end! :goodvibes Sorry that you didn't get the time that you wanted but that is a side effect of racing a lot -- eventually every race in not going to be a PR, as much as we would like that. :thumbsup2

Question of the Day

This is a two part question.

1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?

2. What is your favorite exercise?

1. I have found that if I don't do it first thing in the morning I rarely do it.

2. Yoga

Off to get dressed and go to work.

Have a happy and healthy day.

pixiedust: that your meetings go quickly and smoothly today, Dona.

I must exercise first thing in the morning or it quickly goes by the way side. I had a great routine where I could get up, have a little computer time, be at the gym when it opened at 5 a.m., workout and be home in time to wake up DS. I hope I can get right back into that whenever I am cleared to work out again. Hoping for good news from the orthopedist this week. :upsidedow

My favorite exercise is the River Walk pool closely followed by run/walk/run.

Whew! I have been away too long!
I did have a pretty bad week and I am going into this one positive I will do better! I do feel I may be coming down with something. :sad1:
Hopefully it isn't anything to serious.

pixiedust: and peaceful healing thoughts for you. :hug:

If anyone missed sending in your PMs from last week's weigh in feel free to send them. I will be updating again later today. Thanks for your patience with my late postings due to company. :flower3:

Have a great day all!

:dogdance:Question of the Day

This is a two part question.

1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?

During the week, it's after work. I just can't seem to stick to that getting up in the middle of the night routine and I DEFINITELY can't run that early. At least not if I expect to get a decent run in. :goodvibes

2. What is your favorite exercise?

I'm going to re-word this to favorite obsession! :lmao: I can't imagine going through life not running?! :thumbsup2

So our big plans for the weekend took a little side road, but it was still fun.:thumbsup2 It took us two hours to drive up the coast to Jupiter to find the little hole in the wall tiki bar we were looking for. But when we got there, we couldn't find it! :faint: There were no signs indicating where it was and when I tried calling the phone number, nobody answered!:worried: Turned out to be no big deal as the ride up was absolutely gorgeous and the DH and I always have fun taking off on adventures together. :love:

I had originally planned on getting in a 7 mile training run Sunday morning, but decided to up it to 8 before I even left the house. I ran my lake then headed south to a beautiful park near my house. About 6 miles into it, a lady on a bike stops me and says someone is looking for me. What I didn't hear her say at first (since I had my music playing), was the guy was my DH. So I'm having a mini heart attack for a few seconds thinking I had a stalker! :scared1: Then she said it was my DH. :love: He was out for his walk and decided to surprise me and meet me on my run. :woohoo: So what started out as a 7/8 mile planned run, turned into an 8 mile run with about a 1 mile walk at the end. Needless to say I was pretty much done for the rest of the day. We did cook out on the grill though and I made myself some salmon coated in dijon mustard and light brown sugar. OMG yummy! ::yes:: I then proceeded to spend the rest of the day doing the sugar/salt thing, which I'm sure you can probably figure out why! :rotfl:

We also got the final piece of outdoor furniture for the tiki bar, (a nice, comfy, roomy couch), so the Wonder Mutt, DH, and I all ended up napping the afternoon away while watching football and enjoying an absolutely BEAUTIFUL afternoon! Even got to watch an osprey hitting the fish on the lake. Poor fish don't stand a chance against that guy. :eek:

Question of the Day

This is a two part question.

1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?
2. What is your favorite exercise?

1) late morning is the earliest I can manage it :rotfl2:
2) powerwalking...zoning out to my tunes and enjoying the outside

well....away from my computer all weekend and this thread is still hopping!! that is FAB to see, hard to catch up!! i'm trying to read and keep it all straight but am failing miserably! a good problem for our group, half-way through them month and kicking strong!!

my weekend crop was a success!!! I got through 6 school years in my DD graduation (2015) album so i'm thrilled!!! unfortunately it was low-steps days and good food. I tried to be careful with my portion sizes and move about throughout the day. though today I wake up feeling puffy and swollen. hopefully that will work it's way out before Friday. I had such a good WI last week I'll be beyond happy to just see that number again!

Hi, everyone!!
I haven't been around because we were away for the weekend. I'd been feeling lousy and tired and in pain for a few days last week and finally went to an urgent care center on Friday and was diagnosed with a severe UTI, as I'd suspected. Doing a bit better now, but have not felt up to any kind of exercise or even walking.

And my food choices this weekend were lousy especially in the context of a very emotional weekend remembering our friend (and fellow WISHer) who died much too young this past February. I did not assert any control over my choices and I know I'll pay for it on the scale Thursday. I'm willing to pay the price (heck, I paid the price last week for food I "didn't eat" - LOL!)

Thank you so much for everyone's support when I was lamenting the number on the scale. And I really appreciate all the advice I received. I am taking it to heart and have written a lot of that advice in my food journal. :)

Hi everybody! Did my official first week WW weigh in today and I lost 7 pounds for the first week! Yeah me!!! I'm having trouble eating all my daily points!!! Any tips?

Happy news today! I hit the "overweight" level and am forever out of "obese" category! It's a small victory, but something that has been important to me.

Yay! Congrats for kicking "obese" to the curb!

Lots going on with her at school right now. I don't want to go into great detail, but she has had to "put on her big girl panties" and make some tough decisions. I think, overall, she has made the RIGHT decisions, but it has been really hard and VERY stressful. I'm just glad to have her here for a bit to coddle her and hug her and take care of her. She really likes her school and is LOVING her major and has had an excellent opportunity to get involved in a research project come her way, so mostly things are GREAT.

Well.... time to get one more load of wash onto the clothesline while the sun is shining down! TTYL.......................P

Glad to hear that DD is loving school, but I'm sorry she has faced some tough choices. Growing up is no fun! She's lucky to have such a great mom, dad, and brother :)

Good Sunday morning.

Just kind of hanging out right now. I got up and went to church but I have been feeling lousy since yesterday.

Oh no. I hope you feel better soon.

Dh wanted to see the movie Gravity with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. We saw it in 3D and the characters were spinning in space so much that I thought I was going to get sick.

I want to see that movie as well, but NOT in 3D. I'm not sure I can handle it based on the previews I've seen.

We were going to go up and see my folks but I really don't feel like driving. I would also have to time it right since they live right next to MetLife stadium and the Jets are playing today. We would have to leave very early and then leave before the game is over or leave later and then not get to leave to go home until well after the game (unless they are losing really badly).

I want to do a fun one today.

Have a happy and healthy day.

We've gone 2 times in January with the whole family and I loved it. Although, technically we went the last week of January which sometimes runs into February. Both times we were lucky with gorgeous weather. This year we swam everyday as it was 80 daily. DH and I also took a mini weekend trip without kids in May last year. It was during Flower & Garden festival and we loved it. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed Epcot so much.

I am waiting patiently to visit during Halloween and Christmas. It's getting harder to take days off where I work (teacher here) and DSs are getting older. I've done some research and since we fly from PA, it's pretty costly to go for a long weekend for Halloween or Christmas. And, DH is not found of big crowds, so I'm not sure when I'll get to visit during those times.

Good afternoon!

The only event I've ever been down there for is Christmas but I absolutely loved it. I really would like to go at Halloween one year. Maybe next. I really want to do ToT 10 Miler. :yes:

Add me to the ToT dream list! I really wanted to do it this year, but we went down in January instead, so maybe next year!

For the first time ever I think I have a groin strain. Unfun! I hope it cooperates because I have lots of workouts planned for this week.

Yikes! Take it easy!

We are having pumpkin bean soup for dinner.

This sounds very interesting to me. Do you have a recipe?

I hope everyone has a great night and a super Monday!!:goodvibes

Thanks! You too.

THAT time of month= 3 gained pounds over night

sdfkanliuefdnjksxnvcuiwnelsdihkxflaniedks!!!!

Don't worry...it'll be gone as fast as it came!

I went to CT to run the Hartford Half on Saturday, and it was a great race! My official time wasn't what I'd hoped, but my Garmin time was a bit better...I had to stop to pee on the course, and I got stuck in a line. Eight minutes of delay, augh! But - the weather was perfect, the course was really nice, the race was very well run/organized, and my mom got to see me finish a half (any race, really) for the first time! My cousin ran, too, and we went out to lunch after with my mom and two of my aunts. I stayed with my mom last night and drove back today - it was nice to get some time with her!

Sounds like it was a great race and your mom must've been so happy to see you run! I'm glad you enjoyed your time with your family.

Question of the Day

This is a two part question.

1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?

2. What is your favorite exercise?

1. In the summer, I exercise first thing in the morning. But, during the school year, I workout as soon as I get home from work.

2. My favorites are running and walking. Although, I also really enjoy yoga, spinning, and circuit training classes.

Ugh. I forgot to PM you...but I also forgot to weight in! I'll catch back up next weigh in.

Don't worry too much about your eating this weekend. I'm sure you'll be right back on track and it sounds like it was a tough time remembering your friend.

Hi everybody! Did my official first week WW weigh in today and I lost 7 pounds for the first week! Yeah me!!! I'm having trouble eating all my daily points!!! Any tips?

Congrats! I try to add proteins like a hard boiled egg or low fat string cheese for a snack sometime during the day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello everyone! I am finally catching up from Saturday. Yesterday was so busy with driving to DS's soccer game. 5hours in a car to watch a 1 hour game :rotfl: But, he loves it and it's so much fun for the parents. We ended up stopping to eat on the way there and home. I didn't make the best choices, but I'm moving it along today.
I woke up not feeling well :( I am a little achy and have a headache. I think the achiness is from sitting in the car so much yesterday. And, I'm sure it's the weather causing my headache. I've just taken it easy today. I don't know what to do, though, because I have managed a workout everyday in October (even if just some yoga moves or abs/pushups) and I haven't done anything today. My monthly challenge was to do something everyday of October...hmmmm...maybe I'll just do some stretching and sit-ups.
Anyhow, I enjoyed my 4 day weekend and I'll be back to work tomorrow. I'll try to check in during my lunch break. Have a great night!
Question of the Day
This is a two part question.
1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?
2. What is your favorite exercise?
1. I try to exercise in the morning - or too easy to move on & not do anything
2. a)my fav is the tm - I know some of you (including my DD, ohMom) are like - really? - yes because I can set the pace and track my time and know exactly how far I have walked, calories burned etc. but when the weather is nice - I walk outside because that is a better place to be walking :love:
b). I really like using the WATP tapes :yay:
Hooray for all who posted they had great weekends, whatever that looked like for you! Sunday DH & I took a 90 min hike - some color beginning in OH but not much at all in the woods - I started to drag the last 20 minutes but made it without whining :goodvibes My DH recently home from 2 weeks backpacking so this trek was like a "walk around the block for him" ...mmmm... not me!
Today my exercise included a 1 mi WATP with weights and 55 min raking leaves while DH mowed the grass = nice looking yard till more leaves make the big drop!
Re: my personal daily challenge I've made an executive decision for today that even though 1 mi of WATP does not give me 1 mi worth of steps logged nor do I think that raking treated me fairly either :confused3 - so..... I've made a decision that even though I haven't registered my goal of 8,000 steps, I am okay with it -feel like I put in a good day of exercising and completed my food journal.
do these monthly challenges take the place of the old biggest loser challenges?
Yes we are doing this monthly instead in a long stretch. Sort of like the monthly exercise challenge.
Just pm the first person in the thread your starting weight and your goal for the month. As the weeks go on you pm your weight and as you lose the color of your name will change.
Good to see you. Hope you are back for the challenge like me.
Good Tuesday morning.
This is my last day of coaching. It has been fun reading all your answers to my questions.
Question of the Day
Many people have been on cruises but there are a few of us who have not.
Have you ever been on a cruise?
Where to?
What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3)
What did you like about it?
What didn't you like about?
I am asking because I have never been on a cruise and dh and I are signed up for one to Alaska next summer.
Off to work
Have a happy and healthy day.
THAT time of month= 3 gained pounds over night sdfkanliuefdnjksxnvcuiwnelsdihkxflaniedks!!!!
This is me today. :mad:
Question of the Day This is a two part question. 1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day? 2. What is your favorite exercise?
1. I really enjoy working out in the morning but I haven't done it since I started this job two years ago. I tried a new routine last month of trying to wake up at 5am to eat breakfast and work out before work at 7. I was very good about the breakfast part, not so much the working out part lol. Otherwise, I work out after work usually right after I get home because if I sit down, chances are I won't get back up. :lmao:
2. Running :)
Add me to the ToT dream list! I really wanted to do it this year, but we went down in January instead, so maybe next year!
I was there in January too for an impromptu long weekend with my mom. The whole time we were staring at the bounce back going "well... The Friday the 13th villains bash falls on your birthday weekend..." "Well, I do really want to run the 10 miler..." But it always came back to "but were already spending a lot of money to be here now :sad:" LOL
---
Good morning all!
DBF had a three day weekend because of Columbus Day so he didn't leave for Harrisburg until last night which was nice. As I mention above, I found 2 pounds on the scale but am hoping that it's just because of my visitor and will be making sure to keep hydrated so that my body doesn't decide it wants to hold on to it. :) Going to try to get in a 3 mile run after work and that's about on all that's on my agenda for today.
Question of the Day
Have you ever been on a cruise? yes, one
Where to? Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica
What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3) Carnival (Yes! Thank goodness otherwise those of us who can't afford the Disney cruises would be stuck on land!) :lmao:
What did you like about it? Pretty much everything, but mostly the ability to see multiple countries without having to keep unpacking! :banana:
What didn't you like about? The dining room. We ended up with a REALLY strange couple who kind of freaked us out. We discovered the private dining room the second night on the ship and ate there the rest of the week.
Happy to say I lost 2 pounds this week! :banana: Or at least I think so. I've stepped on the scale every day for the past week and except for one day, it read exactly the same every day, right down to the ounces. However, I'll take it!! :banana: :woohoo: :yay:
Thanks for the info! I am back, and will need all of the support I can get. I LOVE you guys, always there for a hug or kick in the but... whichever is needed!
I updated my weight loss banner because I've gained back 10#. I looked so quickly at the thread this morning and I am so happy to see familiar faces. Can't wait to go back and read the whole thread.
Good Tuesday morning.
This is my last day of coaching. It has been fun reading all your answers to my questions.
Question of the Day
Many people have been on cruises but there are a few of us who have not.
Have you ever been on a cruise? Yes, we have been on 3, and we are planning an #4 this summer
Where to? First was a 3 night to Nasau and Castaway Cay, never got off at Nassau and ship couldn't dock at CC. So the next one we did a double dip (meaning 2 stops at CC) and we went to Costa Maya and Cozumel. 3rd one was on the new Fantasy ship last year over 4th of July. Went to St. Thomas and St. Maarten and CC. 4Th one is schedule to go to Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios Jamaica, Cozumel and CC
What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3) Only Disney for us!
What did you like about it? LOVE everything. It just feels very special, hard to put into words. Very relaxing, great to see other ports, the shows are great, love dressing up at night, PALO (adult only restaurant) is very classy and romantic, I could go on and on.... But now, I think mostly my DS LOVES DCL and since he went away to college I am missing him a bunch. Next year he plans on working at Philmont boy scout ranch (no communication while there) so this is the only way I would see him next summer
What didn't you like about?
DH and DS have a hard time with sea sickness the first night of the cruise. After that first night they are good to go, so they do miss out on fun stuff that first night. it is also very expensive, but worth every penny
I am asking because I have never been on a cruise and dh and I are signed up for one to Alaska next summer.
Off to work
Have a happy and healthy day.
I can't tell you how timely this question is. Just signing up for this challenge today. Our cruise next summer is the biggest motivator for me right now. DH and I agreed to this cruise only if I loose weight. it has been an incentive for me. Well, I haven't lost, in fact gained 10# so I need to cut that out because I want to go on the cruise. ALSO the cruise is going to Ocho Rios where DH and I honeymooned. I really want to climb Dunn's river falls again and then ride the horses in the water. There is a weight limit for the horse ride and I have a long way to go to be able to do that, but that has been a dream of mine since I first saw that movie "Cocktail" and saw them riding the horses on the beach.
