WISH Away the Pounds Outstanding October Challenge -- Everyone welcome!

Just made 3 apple pies (I'm in NY- can you taste those apples now?) and I'm getting ready to deliver them now.

I didn't even lick my fingers.

Crackers and peanut butter for breakfast.

Milestone? :rotfl2:

Good Question of the Day

Many people have been on cruises but there are a few of us who have not.

Have you ever been on a cruise?
Where to?
What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3)
What did you like about it?
What didn't you like about?

We have been on 5 DCL cruises, only DCL for us. DH wants to avoid the casino/party atmosphere on other lines, and we have been spoiled by the Disney ships and don't want to try other lines.
1st -- 4 day to Bahamas/Castaway Cay
2nd -- 7 day Thanksgiving cruise, double dip CC
3rd -- 7 day Western (first time all ports)
4th -- 11 day Mediterranean
5th -- 7 day Eastern
6th -- 2015 -- Alaska celeberate 20th anniversary

we love cruising b/c it's a lesser pace vaca, we can each make the sea days what we want them to be individually. We love the shows, dressing up for dinner, and waking up each day in a new place. The ships are ALL fantastic, the Fantasy was gorgeous but we are looking forward to a classic Magic cruise for our next one. Call us sentimental, we like the size of the older ships and the more 'classic steamliner' décor

well i'm still zero for exercising this week. i'm actually going into PCP this afternoon to rule out pinkeye for my swollen, irritated eyes. I've got something brewing whether viral or infection as I've been running on steam and taking more steroids for 2 weeks now. i'm journaling and hoping my number doesn't rise friday

Good Tuesday morning.

This is my last day of coaching. It has been fun reading all your answers to my questions.

I am asking because I have never been on a cruise and dh and I are signed up for one to Alaska next summer.

Off to work

Have a happy and healthy day.

Thank you for coaching this week!
Great job!
I have been on one cruise, to the Eastern Caribbean. Nassau to be exact. We used Royal Caribbean. The cruise was okay, I wouldn't say best vacation ever. But not the worst. I liked the stops and the fun games on the ships. I didn't like the food, I'm use to more flavor than that! I also didn't really care for the pool. But who needs a pool when you are stopping at Caribbean islands.

Had a good morning so far! Stepped on the scale to see a 0.6 pound difference since yesterday! I'll take it:banana:
My morning run went well too, I increased to 2 miles today (small goals people) and felt I did well.
Have a great day everyone!:goodvibes

Good morning all! Sorry to be so late getting here this morning. I got called to work at the last minute.... but thankfully they didn't need me until after 10 am, so I was able to take DS to work, get showered, pack up my lunch and have breakfast. The only thing I skipped was putting dinner in the crockpot. DS informed me on our drive to school that he has a robotics meeting tonight AND possibly needed to stay after for theater.... so the evening will be a bit crazy and I wasn't sure when the crockpot meal would be ready.... so tonight will be leftover night for the men.

I realized when I woke up yesterday that I missed my 1 mile on Sunday. Oh well... it is all about making positive changes, not perfection, right?? DD and I walked on campus after I brought her back last night. Her campus is SO beautiful, right on the ocean. It is a pleasure to walk there (not sure it will be the same feeling come February though!).

I've got just a few minutes before I need to meet my students in the cafeteria, so I will go see the QOTD and then dash! I'm working my WW meeting tonight, so not sure when/if I will have time to pop on again today! .......P

ETA: I was going to try to read and reply and catch up with the QOTD, but I just do not have enough time. And there are definitely some things going on that I want to repond to, so I'm not going to rush it right now. I may have time after school before my WW meeting to come back on... and possibly if/when my kids go to Special today. I don't want to skip anyone's comments in my rush.... so I'll BBL when I have more time!

Ahhh, cruising...My favorite topic!

We've been on 7 cruises, all Disney.
First was in 2011 for DS's graduation. We went to Alaska out of Vancouver. That was the beginning of the end for us. Disney World has taken a huge backseat for us. Second cruise was just DH and I for the Maiden Voyage of Fantasy in March 2012. We went to the Western Caribbean. It was another amazing cruise on which we booked the Hawaiian cruise in October of 2012. Hawaii was my favorite by far. Two weeks on the first ship we ever set foot on. It was pure heaven on earth. We booked our 4th cruise on the Dream over New Year's with the kids, 2012-2013 to Bahamas. After that, we decided that it would be great to get to platinum level so we could go to Palo for free and enjoy some more of the benefits. And because the Magic was going to be within 4 hrs' driving distance of us in Galveston, we booked two cruises on her. These were small 4 night cruises but still fun because we finally hit the last of all Disney ships with the Magic. Both of these just went to Cozumel. Just recently, we spent another 4 nights on the Dream with our best friends to the Bahamas. That makes 7.
Our current future holds two more Disney cruises. The first is a Western Caribbean on the Wonder in mid-November. The next is again to Alaska on the Wonder in June 2014. But then we decided to venture out and see what it is like on some other cruise lines. We love Disney to pieces, but we are also smart enough to realize that if we can go on a Princess cruise for 7 nights for $600 less than a Disney 4 night cruise, we should do it. So we are cheating on Disney for the first time in January on a Caribbean cruise. And also in March on Royal Caribbean. That's it. Those are the plans for now. I really need 2 more cruises on DCL to become platinum, but I guess they'll have to wait until 2015.

So, what do I like about cruising? On DCL, they make us feel like we live onboard from the start, welcoming us by name onto the ship. We get to completely disengage from the world, with nobody on cell phones or ipads anywhere around us. It forces you to relax and enjoy nature the way God designed it. We learn so much from the diversity of guests and cast members onboard. The fresh air is just amazing for one's body and soul. And the entertainment can't be beat. DCL really does it right. There are no crowds or huge lines in the heat for character pictures. Not as many whiny children because parents can just take them to their rooms for a nap. All the kiddos are generally happier! And the food is amazing! Not always is everything the greatest thing you ever ate, but most of the time, it is all much better than any of the local restaurants I go to. And it's all unlimited. Which is not good for the waistline, but it's great for my happiness.

What don't I like? That they all end. No matter how long a trip I go on, they always go back to port and kick you off! This is why I plan my trips every 2-4 months. So I have something to look forward to always.

If you have any questions about any of my trips, please feel free to PM me! I love talking about cruises, and after 7, I feel pretty comfortable with Disney and their routine.

Have a happy day, everyone! And keep being losers!

Drink WATER!

Hi everybody! Did my official first week WW weigh in today and I lost 7 pounds for the first week! Yeah me!!! I'm having trouble eating all my daily points!!! Any tips?

That is awesome!!! As for not being able to eat your points, I have made some good changes this week that I find go a long way toward using my daily points the right way. For example, if I do my healthy oils, that is 2 pts right there. Having my required daily milks is another 4-6. Healthy grains may be 4-6 as well. Then, when you add in lean protein with each meal, it helps to fill in some more. I find that when I don't use all my daily points, there is a very good chance that I have neglected one of those healthy eating guidelines. I hope that helps!

Good Tuesday morning.

This is my last day of coaching. It has been fun reading all your answers to my questions.

Dona - Thank you so much for coaching! :worship: You are wonderful, and all of the coaches so far are setting very high standards for me to meet when I start coaching tomorrow. :goodvibes

Question of the Day

Many people have been on cruises but there are a few of us who have not.

Have you ever been on a cruise? Yes
Where to?
Our first cruise was Western Caribbean on Celebrity (never again!)
Since then, we've done a number of cruises on DCL, including the Eastern Caribbean, Western Caribbean, 3 day to Bahamas and Castaway Cay, 4 day to Bahamas and Castaway Cay, and our favorite: 10 nights in the Mediterranean in 2011 with our kids to celebrate their high school and college graduations.

What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3) Celebrity and DCL

What did you like about it? Frankly, the most important feature of a cruise is my ability to say that I am not going to do any work because the cost to access the internet makes it prohibitive. Otherwise, even when I am in the parks, I am expected to participate in teleconferences and to respond in a timely manner to emails. Even more significant when we cruised in the Mediterranean. I was able to use the time difference and the cost of internet as a valid excuse to NOT check email more than once a day. Usually, I checked it when I first woke up and at dinner time, and that was it.

We also totally LOVE the shows on the Disney ships and the character interaction. And I just can't imagine the service being any better than what we've experienced on DCL

What didn't you like about?
I didn't like the casino, smoking and drunk people on the Celebrity Cruise. People were up all hours of the night, being noisy in the corridors as they came back from the bars, clubs and casino. Just another thing we don't worry about on DCL.

I am asking because I have never been on a cruise and dh and I are signed up for one to Alaska next summer.

Off to work

Have a happy and healthy day.

I'm so behind with replies! It's impossible to do multi-quote on my app. I hope everyone is doing well!

Good afternoon all! :goodvibes

I have a few WI to post still and I am behind on my replies but should be up to date tomorrow morning -- this is what happens when you leave your spreadsheet at home -- thanks for your patience! :flower3:

Kim, that was nice of your DH to find you and finish the run with you. :cool2: Love the sweet Calypso picture!

Molli, pixiedust: for a speedy recovery from the pink eye.

Cam, glad that you had a great week-end with the WISH contingent! :cool2: Thanks for being our upcoming coach! :thanks:

Hi everybody! Did my official first week WW weigh in today and I lost 7 pounds for the first week! Yeah me!!! I'm having trouble eating all my daily points!!! Any tips?

:woohoo: Congratulations! :yay: Way to start strong!

There have been lots of good suggestions for meeting your daily point allowance. Making sure that you hit that every day seems to really be key to continued WW losses. My suggestion is to look at your power food list and get some really good bang for your point buck things to add. It definitely is a process to figure this out. :flower3:

Ugh. I forgot to PM you...but I also forgot to weight in! I'll catch back up next weigh in.

No worries! :goodvibes: You can PM anytime or wait until our next WI on Friday, whatever works for you.

Re: my personal daily challenge I've made an executive decision for today that even though 1 mi of WATP does not give me 1 mi worth of steps logged nor do I think that raking treated me fairly either - so..... I've made a decision that even though I haven't registered my goal of 8,000 steps, I am okay with it -feel like I put in a good day of exercising and completed my food journal.

Sounds like you are doing a great job to me! :thumbsup2 Does you pedometer have a calibration feature? Maybe that needs to be done so you get full credit for all your hard work.

Jill--pumpkin soup
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pumpkin-Bean-Soup/Detail.aspx

I used veggie broth, no cilantro, added fresh ginger and curry powder, white beans instead of black. Just used tiny bit of sour cream when serving. It was really, really good. We had leftovers tonight and added in some g-f pasta. Yum!

Sounds yummy! :thumbsup2

:welcome: PRINCESS VIJA! Thanks for joining our challenge! :flower3:

Dona, thanks so much for coaching this week! :thanks:

Bryana, hope that pounds disappear as quickly as they appeared! ::yes::

Just made 3 apple pies (I'm in NY- can you taste those apples now?) and I'm getting ready to deliver them now.

Pamela, no worries on catching up -- we will be here when you are ready. :goodvibes

I'm so behind with replies! It's impossible to do multi-quote on my app. I hope everyone is doing well!

No worries! :goodvibes You can always call yourself caught up from here now, too. ::yes::

BRB with my answer to the QOTD -- darn those smilie police!

Good morning all!

My company is still here so I racing through to say hello and to tell you our pretty colors are updated. Check out the pretty colors and one of us is now WISH lime green!

I'll be back later to catch up.

Thanks for taking care of us, even when you are busy!

Glad you can see the good with the stress of freshman year. I don't know anyone who's kid sailed through it completely stress free, but it does improve. It might take until grad school :rotfl: but it does improve.

She is handling it well and seems to be in a good frame of mind this week. Let's hope that the worst of the freshman stress has passed! I'm not sure that I can handle any more long-distance stress myself! :lmao:

We spent more time today unpacking and I would say we are 95% done. It is good enough I would have company and if DS needed to come home last minute (though he never has in the 4+ years he's been at school) we could have his room cleaned up in about an hour. Good enough for now. We are loving not having a yard to take care of, at least for now.

For the first time ever I think I have a groin strain. Unfun! I hope it cooperates because I have lots of workouts planned for this week.

OUCH! Take care of yourself!!

We are having pumpkin bean soup for dinner.

I hope everyone has a great night and a super Monday!!

That soup sounds delightful! Care to share the recipe??

NEVER MIND.... I see that you posted the link! Can't wait to check it out!

THAT time of month= 3 gained pounds over night

sdfkanliuefdnjksxnvcuiwnelsdihkxflaniedks!!!!

Hopefully it will disappear as quickly as it appeared!

Hi everyone! I'm so far behind from Friday on everything - but it was a great weekend, so I'm here checking in!

I had an unexpected loss last week of 1.4, which was a wonderful surprise. I'd had a stressful week that manifested itself in some poor food choices. But I think my overall attuned-ness (!) to eating well and staying on track with my exercise helped me get that loss. Of course, after this weekend, I'm up a little, but that should even out...

I went to CT to run the Hartford Half on Saturday, and it was a great race! My official time wasn't what I'd hoped, but my Garmin time was a bit better...I had to stop to pee on the course, and I got stuck in a line. Eight minutes of delay, augh! But - the weather was perfect, the course was really nice, the race was very well run/organized, and my mom got to see me finish a half (any race, really) for the first time! My cousin ran, too, and we went out to lunch after with my mom and two of my aunts. I stayed with my mom last night and drove back today - it was nice to get some time with her!

Did the grocery shopping after a 6 1/2-hour drive, started laundry, and made dinner for the family - now catching up on work and our DVR! I was back early enough to get out for 3 1/2 miles to shake off the car ride.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

XO
Liz

Sounds like a good weekend and a great run! So nice that your Mom could be there!

Good Monday morning everyone.

I hope most of you have an easy day today. I will be sitting in meetings all day. We will be writing quarterly exams and SGO's. Can I hit my head on a piece of concrete and get it over with now.

SURE!!:rotfl:Question of the Day

This is a two part question.

1. What time do you exercise? Is it the same time every day?

2. What is your favorite exercise?

For a long time I was an early rising exerciser, to get it done before the day got busy. Then when I was driving DD to the Y in the evenings, I would sometimes be an evening exerciser. IT was really more about what fit my schedule best that day. Now that I have a bit more time I've been an "after school" exerciser.... but I think I'm going back to early morning. I would waaay rather get up at 5:30 and get it done with!

I have no "favorite" exercise.... hate them all! But what I hate least?? Probably walking with some run intervals. I'd prefer to either do them on the TM so I can watch a movie or outside with a friend.... but for now I am just concentrating on getting them done!!

1. Standing on the WW scale every week.
2. Honest tracking including proper portion control.
3. ActiveLink to help me with activity (when I can work out again).

As a WW leader, I LOVE to hear this stuff! Make sure you are sharing all of your success and tips with your meeting members!

Our favorite time to go to WDW was in January right after MLK Day. Sure some things were always down for rehab but the parks were so not crowded and it was great for when DS was little and could be taken out of school for a week. Now that he is older we are relegated to school holidays and the crowds that come with them. The last time the family went to WDW was for Christmas in 2009 and it was crowded but still very fun to see all the decoration. :santa:

Our first few family visits to WDW were at that same time.... usually right around MLK holiday (although we would try to avoid the actual holiday). VERY low crowds, not terribly hot, and cheap airfare and hotels.

Pamela, glad that you could have a week-end with your DD and give her some TLC.

It was a nice relaxing weekend.

I must exercise first thing in the morning or it quickly goes by the way side. I had a great routine where I could get up, have a little computer time, be at the gym when it opened at 5 a.m., workout and be home in time to wake up DS. I hope I can get right back into that whenever I am cleared to work out again. Hoping for good news from the orthopedist this week. :upsidedow

Have a great day all!

HOping your day is great as well!!!

:We also got the final piece of outdoor furniture for the tiki bar, (a nice, comfy, roomy couch), so the Wonder Mutt, DH, and I all ended up napping the afternoon away while watching football and enjoying an absolutely BEAUTIFUL afternoon! Even got to watch an osprey hitting the fish on the lake. Poor fish don't stand a chance against that guy.

When are you going to finally share pictures of the tiki bar???

my weekend crop was a success!!! I got through 6 school years in my DD graduation (2015) album so i'm thrilled!!! unfortunately it was low-steps days and good food. I tried to be careful with my portion sizes and move about throughout the day. though today I wake up feeling puffy and swollen. hopefully that will work it's way out before Friday. I had such a good WI last week I'll be beyond happy to just see that number again!

YOu got a LOT done! I'm super jealous. Soon, I will have a full weekend to dedicate to scrapping.... just not sure when! Flush out that puffy feeling with lots of water and fruit today!

Hi, everyone!!
I haven't been around because we were away for the weekend. I'd been feeling lousy and tired and in pain for a few days last week and finally went to an urgent care center on Friday and was diagnosed with a severe UTI, as I'd suspected. Doing a bit better now, but have not felt up to any kind of exercise or even walking.

Ouchie!! Take some time to recoup!!

And my food choices this weekend were lousy especially in the context of a very emotional weekend remembering our friend (and fellow WISHer) who died much too young this past February. I did not assert any control over my choices and I know I'll pay for it on the scale Thursday. I'm willing to pay the price (heck, I paid the price last week for food I "didn't eat" - LOL!)

Thank you so much for everyone's support when I was lamenting the number on the scale. And I really appreciate all the advice I received. I am taking it to heart and have written a lot of that advice in my food journal. :)

Head up, chin up.... things will get better on the scale. You'll (probably) take the hit this week and then things will improve next week. And it is ONLY a number.... what's more important is that you LEARNED something this week... maybe about stress eating, maybe about forgiving yourself, maybe about being prepared to make better choices BEFORE the situation arrives. But whatever the case, use the situation to learn!! :)

Hi everybody! Did my official first week WW weigh in today and I lost 7 pounds for the first week! Yeah me!!! I'm having trouble eating all my daily points!!! Any tips?

Amazing!! Be sure that you are eating ENOUGH. If you need a few things to get you to your daily target, try eating some "regular" foods instead of reduced fat (mostly thinking of dairy here), go for some more calorie dense snacks (nuts, peanut butter, etc), but be sure you are spreading it out throughout the day. Don't try to eat 8 points after dinner just to get to your target!!

Glad to hear that DD is loving school, but I'm sorry she has faced some tough choices. Growing up is no fun! She's lucky to have such a great mom, dad, and brother :)

Yes she does!!:lmao:

Hello everyone! I am finally catching up from Saturday. Yesterday was so busy with driving to DS's soccer game. 5hours in a car to watch a 1 hour game :rotfl: But, he loves it and it's so much fun for the parents. We ended up stopping to eat on the way there and home. I didn't make the best choices, but I'm moving it along today.

Ahhh.... I remember those days! Driving 4 hours for two 30 second swims! One of the habits I had the hardest time changing was the habit of eating JUNK on swim meet weekends. Somehow I made it "okay" to eat crappy when we were traveling for swim... fast food stops, ice cream, etc. But when I started WW again, I knew that was something that had to change. And eating in the car (mostly out of boredom) is STILL an issue that I have to think ACTIVELY about. The nearly 6 hours I spent driving yesterday (to and from DD's school) would have been a great opportunity to SNACK.... but I had an apple on the way down (from home) and an apple on the way back (from the school dining hall) and that was that! But believe me, every sign for Subway, Wendy's etc was calling my name!

I woke up not feeling well :( I am a little achy and have a headache. I think the achiness is from sitting in the car so much yesterday. And, I'm sure it's the weather causing my headache. I've just taken it easy today. I don't know what to do, though, because I have managed a workout everyday in October (even if just some yoga moves or abs/pushups) and I haven't done anything today. My monthly challenge was to do something everyday of October...hmmmm...maybe I'll just do some stretching and sit-ups.

Anyhow, I enjoyed my 4 day weekend and I'll be back to work tomorrow. I'll try to check in during my lunch break. Have a great night!

Jill

Glad you enjoyed your weekend. Our 4 day weekend was good as well, but as usual, it went far too fast!!

1. I try to exercise in the morning - or too easy to move on & not do anything

2. a)my fav is the tm - I know some of you (including my DD, ohMom) are like - really? - yes because I can set the pace and track my time and know exactly how far I have walked, calories burned etc. but when the weather is nice - I walk outside because that is a better place to be walking

b). I really like using the WATP tapes :yay:

Hooray for all who posted they had great weekends, whatever that looked like for you! Sunday DH & I took a 90 min hike - some color beginning in OH but not much at all in the woods - I started to drag the last 20 minutes but made it without whining :goodvibes My DH recently home from 2 weeks backpacking so this trek was like a "walk around the block for him" ...mmmm... not me!

Today my exercise included a 1 mi WATP with weights and 55 min raking leaves while DH mowed the grass = nice looking yard till more leaves make the big drop!

Re: my personal daily challenge I've made an executive decision for today that even though 1 mi of WATP does not give me 1 mi worth of steps logged nor do I think that raking treated me fairly either :confused3 - so..... I've made a decision that even though I haven't registered my goal of 8,000 steps, I am okay with it -feel like I put in a good day of exercising and completed my food journal.

I would DEFINITELY give myself a "pass" on the 8,000 steps, between raking and walking! :thumbsup2

Good Tuesday morning.

This is my last day of coaching. It has been fun reading all your answers to my questions.

Question of the Day

Many people have been on cruises but there are a few of us who have not.

Have you ever been on a cruise?
Where to?
What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3)
What did you like about it?
What didn't you like about?

I am asking because I have never been on a cruise and dh and I are signed up for one to Alaska next summer.

Off to work

Have a happy and healthy day.

Never cruised. Never had any burning desire to cruise. That said, it would probably be Disney if I did. We talked about it years ago, but the kids never wanted to skip a park vacation. I had an uncle who died this past April. He and his wife (my Mom's sister) owned a travel agency for about 30 years (opened in 1976). They traveled the world extensively, but mostly loved cruising. I think their favorite cruise line was Holland America. One of his last cruises they honored him for his number of hours spent cruising. When they figured it out they said he had spent a total of 3 years cruising!! That's just crazy to me! But he definitely loved it and saw the world!

Enjoy Alaska.... it is definitely on my bucket list!

Good morning all!

DBF had a three day weekend because of Columbus Day so he didn't leave for Harrisburg until last night which was nice. As I mention above, I found 2 pounds on the scale but am hoping that it's just because of my visitor and will be making sure to keep hydrated so that my body doesn't decide it wants to hold on to it. :) Going to try to get in a 3 mile run after work and that's about on all that's on my agenda for today.

Hope you enjoyed your extra day with your DBF! Those 2 pounds will disappear soon!

Happy to say I lost 2 pounds this week! Or at least I think so. I've stepped on the scale every day for the past week and except for one day, it read exactly the same every day, right down to the ounces. However, I'll take it!! :woohoo: :yay:

WOOHOOO!!

Thanks for the info! I am back, and will need all of the support I can get. I LOVE you guys, always there for a hug or kick in the but... whichever is needed!

I updated my weight loss banner because I've gained back 10#. I looked so quickly at the thread this morning and I am so happy to see familiar faces. Can't wait to go back and read the whole thread.

We are so glad to welcome you back to the group! How is your health??

I can't tell you how timely this question is. Just signing up for this challenge today. Our cruise next summer is the biggest motivator for me right now. DH and I agreed to this cruise only if I loose weight. it has been an incentive for me. Well, I haven't lost, in fact gained 10# so I need to cut that out because I want to go on the cruise. ALSO the cruise is going to Ocho Rios where DH and I honeymooned. I really want to climb Dunn's river falls again and then ride the horses in the water. There is a weight limit for the horse ride and I have a long way to go to be able to do that, but that has been a dream of mine since I first saw that movie "Cocktail" and saw them riding the horses on the beach.

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN!!

I would also like the "classic" steamliner decor a bit more (I think). Take care of that eye! Steroids for 2 weeks can definitely play games on the scale, so don't stress if things don't look great on Friday!

Thanks for stepping up and throwing out this great advise. I am not great about remembering my oils!

Ahhhh! I've caught up! Now off to grab a coffee before my WW meeting tonight. My manager "surprised" me at my meeting last week and had a LOT of feedback for me. As disappointing as it was that she didn't tell me I was a "perfect" leader, it was nice to learn something new. I am anxious to help my members achieve success and to succeed as a leader, so am excited to try some of the techniques this week.

Kids have gone home and so it is time for me to head out! Remember.... BIGGEST LOSER starts tonight (if you are a fan). I find it SO inspiring. Check it out if you haven't watched it before! I'll try to pop on tonight when I get home, but no promises!..................P

Good Tuesday morning.

This is my last day of coaching. It has been fun reading all your answers to my questions.

Question of the Day

Many people have been on cruises but there are a few of us who have not.

Have you ever been on a cruise? Yes
Where to? 12 nights in the Med on the Magic last summer -- our first cruise!
What line did you cruise (WHAT THERE ARE OTHER CRUISE LINES THAN DISNEY:confused3) Disney, of course! ;)
What did you like about it? Everything! It is wonderful to be able to settle into your cabin and find yourself in a new and exciting destination every day. We had a great group of Dis'ers onboard who helped us make the most of all DCL had to offer. The shows were fantastic and you have to do Palo at least once.
What didn't you like about?
They made us get off the ship. :rotfl2:

I am asking because I have never been on a cruise and dh and I are signed up for one to Alaska next summer. We are going to Alaska on the Wonder in August 2014.

Off to work

Have a happy and healthy day.

Thanks again for coaching, Dona! :thanks:

Pam You asked for it, you got it! (Boy how I LOVE Photobucket!!!:cool1:)

Not the totally finished product, but it should give you a good idea.

Of course, had to have THESE made up!

One random sunrise as seen from Island Time last week.

Yay! I forgot that BL started tonight. Now I am so excited. Lol.

I'm getting ready to go to my local running store. They are having a Nathan sponsored event on reflective gear since the days are getting shorter. They are also doing a group run. I feel slightly nervous about the group run but have decided that I am going to go do it. Hopefully I can check back in later tonight with a good report on it. Haven't gone outside of my comfort zone in a while, lol.

Happy to report back that it went really well! Unfortunately it's the last weeknight group run until the spring (OF COURSE, right? Lol). There were a couple of groups that broke off and my group ended up being just me and two other ladies. I didn't want to admit that I usually run/walk because I am stubborn so I figured I would just try to keep up for as long as possible. Luckily, we were similarly paced and I ran the ENTIRE 3ish Miles without walking at all. I've only ever done that once before but even then, I averaged almost 13 minute Miles. Tonight it was 10:54!!! I am so happy that I went. I will have to join them when they start again in the spring. :)

Moral of the story: STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE! At least, every once in a while. :)

:thanks: Dona for coaching! you were awesome!

and that leads into me... :cool2: and i'll start off my coaching stint behind a step :rotfl2: I'm going to post tomorrow QOTD now as I have to work tomorrow and won't be on my 'puter until the evening.

QOTD - Wednesday October 16 -- What is the one piece of exercise 'equipment' that you could NOT live without?

for me lately, i'll say my WATP (walk away the pounds) DVDs, I just recently dusted them off one rainy day and I must say my muscles definitely noticed a different routine! I've had the same set of DVD for many years, and I go in spurts with them...lately  them :teeth:

..Take care of that eye! Steroids for 2 weeks can definitely play games on the scale, so don't stress if things don't look great on Friday!

well the NP said I either have viral pinkeye or contact dermatitis, and gave me script for antibiotic eye ointment. if it's viral pinkeye it will take 7-10 days...boooooo!!! I tell you I want to rub my eyes so badly at different points throughout the day! but I don't! anyhow...on the steroids...unfortunately i'm on them for life. I don't make cortisol anymore and so I have to completely replace it via oral steroids. Since I'm on replacement and not excess, i'm actually able to lose the weight that I gained while I was overproducing and had Cushings. clear as mud?! but you are right....bumping it up this week is possibly going to affect my WI Friday :sad1: but a girl's gotta do what she gotta do

... I feel slightly nervous about the group run but have decided that I am going to go do it. Hopefully I can check back in later tonight with a good report on it. Haven't gone outside of my comfort zone in a while, lol.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! that's exciting for you to step out of your comfort zone!!!

off to bed for me...hope everyone is having a good night and a great start of the day tomorrow!!

QOTD - Wednesday October 16 -- What is the one piece of exercise 'equipment' that you could NOT live without?

Ooh, I'm going with my running shoes! And, okay, my Garmin watch, too. :)

Along these lines, I'd love to hear if anyone has a favorite pilates DVD...I'm looking to get more core work in, and I do better if I'm following a DVD than if I'm working on a list of exercises (less likely to cheat my way through!). Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm coming down from some major negative energy this afternoon - found out that soon-to-be-ex BIL lied about something *else* (and something huge) to my DSis, and it was at a level that had me seeing red on SO many levels. I wish I'd been somewhere I could have channeled all that stress and anger into exercise! :furious:

What didn't you like about?

RCCL - Majesty of the Seas-Maiden Voyage 1992, Western Caribbean, celebrating 25th anniversary- great fun- ports were good

Carnival, ports off CA & Mexico – 1995 (trip to forget -:scared1: the ship was old & just not fun, missed a port due to weather, etc)

DCL - Magic TurkeyDay Cruise 2005 (with DD ohMom’s family) :thumbsup2

NCL - Pride of America 2008 (HI vacation, method of island hopping) this worked very well for us – our first trip to HI (yes, I do want to return one day) easy way to maximize seeing more islands

RCCL – Oasis of the Seas – Eastern Caribbean, sailing date NOV 16th, 2013 – yep, beginning the countdown tomorrow – we have booked a cabin with inside balcony looking over Central Park

Alaskan cruise in our future –probably NCL – we want to begin in one port and end in another, not a loop, so know it won’t be DCL

So, now you see why I am here for the challenge -short-term goal in mind for me  any loss before a week on a cruise will be nice!

Donac - thanks for your qotd  - got me reved up to start my countdown tomorrow AND for being leader this week!

QOTD for Tuesday:

I just was on my first cruise this spring! It was a DCl cruise on the Disney Wonder to the Western Caribbean, 5 nights with stops in Cozumel and Castaway Cay. And I loved everything about it! It was easily the most relaxing vacation I have ever been on. I always loved the sea and just sitting on deck watching the waves was wonderful. Normally I am never someone to just sit around and watch the world go by, but on that ship I was able to do that. Next cruise is planned for next spring, hopefully it will be a longer one!

And if anyone wants to know more about my cruise experience, there is a link in my signature to my current trip report "From the Sea to the World" - the cruise portion is done, now I am writing about the time at WDW.

QOTD for Wednesday:

Very difficult to say. At the moment I am in kind of a phase thinking that I hate exercise. However, on the other hand I do miss it and feel like I want to do something. I just don't know how to fit it into my days at the moment.

Thanks for all the great responses about cruising. I am concerned because we are not dress up people. We also don't usually just sit around on vacation. I have that covered since the cruise will be a sewing cruise. This one is through my quilt shop and the days we are at sea we will be sewing.

QOTD. My yoga mat. Icould not live without it.

Have a happy and healthy day.

What is the one piece of exercise 'equipment' that you could NOT live without?

I could not live with out my Brooks running shoes! Never again will I guy running shoes from a Nike outlet! :rotfl2:
I also love my phone, I keep MyFitnessPal and Runkeeper there and I use them both on a daily basis.

I am so excited this morning! I don't want to jinx anything, but this morning when I weighed myself, the number that popped up has been the lowest I have seen for 3 years!! Please don't be a fluke!! :goodvibes

Have a great day everyone!

DITTO! I'd be lost without a great pair of running shoes. Along with that, my old 4th generation refurbished iPod Nano is the only thing that gets me through my miles. I don't know how some people can pull off "stuff free" runs.:confused3 The last thing I want to hear is my feet hitting the ground! :rotfl2:

So sorry to hear about the family trouble! :grouphug: to your DSis. Let the negative go but remember how it feels when your ready to choke somebody during the Dopey! :rotfl: :cool1:
