Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2024)

I think there are only so many design elements, and when you are designing 20+ medals each years (individual weekends + challenges), there is bound to be some similarities over the years.

There are so many different shapes than circle. The 2017 Wine and Dine, while not my favorite, at least had a consistent theme and different design. The 10k was a luggage tag, the half a train ticket, and the challenge medal opened into a passport book. All with Chef Mickey, focusing on Epcot, and celebrating the Wine and Food festival.

It’s that time of year again where the bloggers are promoting the after party as a super secret after hours event that’s cheaper than regular after hours events and gives you the opportunity to meet tons of rare characters

There are at least two accounts I follow that are advertising it in their stories

is anyone here not using their extra party passes? My other kids may be joining us but it’s a TBD at this point.

I saw DFB doing that, and it seems disingenuous to me, since it's definitely not an after hours party. Granted I only went in 2021, but I found there wasn't a lot going on. Lots of rides were closed and lines for the Food and Wine booths that were open were super long. Maybe things have changed since, but I'm not planning on buying tickets for the rest of my family.

Them & All Ears posting in their stories was what prompted my first post…. I made a comment on todays post about the party and definitely stirred up drama since I’m a firm believer tickets should only be for friends/family of runners (of non half runners) especially now with certain race merchandise being exclusive to the party I just know these non runners are buying up tickets getting all the jumbo event pins before actual runners can get them and flipping them on eBay

I noticed a few weeks ago that my DW and I are both off during this time. So I was poking the registration site for the last couple of weeks until it let me in. I got my DW for 5k+Two Course!
Nice! My husband finally got into the 10k on Tuesday after closely watching the alerts since right after registration. Guess a good bit opened up this week. Congrats and good luck with the three races!

My only experience with the Wine and Dine afterparty is from 2021, when things were modified because of covid.

Does anyone remember if photopass photographers were around for photos once the park closed? Particularly by Spaceship Earth? Trying to figure out if I should prioritize taking photos earlier on or if I can wait until the later in party.

I went last year and they weren't out. We made this mistake - we were going to grab some pictures at the end of the party on our way out, but the photopass CM's were nowhere to be found. We left before the party ended too, around 12:30am.

Tomorrow for me....if I was ever to make a reservation. I didn't realize that I could link my reservation at the Dolphin to My Disney Experience (for the "length of stay" aspect, and entered the res number on a whim. But it worked.

I'm not making too many ADRs this trip, but I got what I wanted this morning. This trip is coming up quickly.

This will be my first time to do a HM, and I've been training to make it successful. Although I try to go out either early in the morning or after sunset, it has been a hot summer in Austin; I've been more focused on the distance vs. the speed. Things ought to cool down a little over the next 2 months, so that will be welcome. When we did an Alaska cruise this summer, the cool air on the jogging track was so refreshing and invigorating that it really helped my pace...for that week.

W&D rD, here we come. Hope to see everybody there.

So I assume 10k will be the Epcot/full crescent lake loop with the construction at studios

So the hours are out for WDW on 11/3.

DAK opens as early as 7:30 am, so I think we can comfortably say it’s unlikely the 2024 route goes back to its roots.

DHS opens at 830, so it’s likely that route will be front-loaded right after we exit EPCOT.

And EPCOT opens at 930, so it’s likely we get a drop in and around part of (whatever they call Future World now) before we exit the park again.

Seems like the half marathon race routes since 2022 will feel very similar…

Any advice on the after party tickets? Most of us (me, 3 friends, & dad) have a ticket because of the half/challenge, but 3 do not. Do I pay the $110 x 3 for my mom (she's running 10k), friend, and friend's daughter (almost 8) or do I try to buy second hand for cheaper on a FB group? One of my friends already bought for her husband.

Last year, tickets sold out a couple of weeks before the party and they ended up going for OVER "sticker" price in some of the FB groups. A lot of people don't "list" them until they have them physically in their hand, so if it's really important to you that everyone goes to the party, I would just buy it off the website now.

Also, I remember seeing a few people on social media got burned with bad sellers that they thought they were getting tickets from before rundisney mailed them out.

I would take the security of buying one directly from runDisney myself. You may be able to find a ticket for slightly cheaper from someone else, but it comes at the risk of being scammed and/or not a valid ticket.

Have you ever been to the W&D afterparty? It’s not at all like the MK after hours ticket, and I think $110 is a lot to ask for what Disney offers. Only Guardians, Remy, Soarin’, and Frozen will be open. Because of this, lines tend to be quite long. Also, much of the food services will shut down.

Wow, is that it? And those rides are spaced really far apart; they're making sure you get your steps in that day. I'm running the HM so I don't have to pay extra for it, and I've never been to a W&D afterparty before. I'm glad that I didn't buy a ticket for my DW.
