Every morning I have the local news on and they said today is National Tavern Style Pizza Day. So, I look it up and sure enough, it is. Then I looked up what Tavern Pizza is, because I genuinely did not know. I found out that we eat it all the time, but we call it thin crust pizza. Here’s a tavern style pizza explanation….

So, I learned that it originated in Chicago (I live in the Chicago area), which I did not know. That tavern pizza is cut into squares, which the take out pizza we order is always cut into squares and has sweet sauce. So, I eat tavern style pizza all the time and never realized it. I learned something today. Let’s find out if you eat this and what you like on it. Please share with us today……

For Me……I love all sorts of pizza, and being from the Chicago area, pizza is a big part of our lives. Something is pumped into the water to make us love Chicago pizzas - LOL! I mentioned above, that as it turns out, I eat tavern style pizza all the time and I didn’t realize it until today. I enjoy many different toppings, but not all the time - the type of pizza and where it’s from dictates what’s going to be on it for me. I either like pepperoni & mushroom or supreme. Sometimes I like just cheese too - again, it depends on where the pizza is coming from. I also am somebody that isn’t picky. When I’m in a group setting and someone asks me what I want on my pizza, I’ll always tell them that I’ll eat anything but anchovies. I will never expect anyone to order a specific pizza just for me, unless it has anchovies - the thought of them on a pizza is not appetizing to me at all.

Slo, your pic reminds me of King's Pizza in River Forest (right next door to Chicago). In college we ate a LOT of their pizza. I miss that place and that type of pizza.
 
We do have small pizzas here with thin crust and toppings to the edge (but we still cut it in triangles). We call it bar pizza, but since that's another word for tavern, I voted yes, I've had it. - Not sure of exactly which toppings, but at least cheese and veggie, and probably pepperoni. Even one place with shrimp on it!
 

Had it but never heard it called "tavern style" before. Only ever heard it called thin crust.

I have never eaten a pizza cut like that.
I don't eat any pizza anymore......too many carbs.

I don’t like thin crust pizza, so this doesn’t appeal to me.

Does that Lou M—— pizza chain in Chicago serve this? I think we got a “regular” pizza there.
 
I've never heard the phrase Tavern Style pizza but I do love thin crust! caramelized onions, fresh spinach, crispy bacon & double black olives please & thank you🍕🍕😋
 
Had it once years ago on a trip to Wisconsin. I had never before seen a round pizza cut into squares and thought it was unusual. Didn’t know what it was called. I’m from the NYC area and love almost all kinds of pizza and toppings.
 
I've never heard it referred that way either -so I answered no because I never ordered a "Tavern-Style" pizza. But possibly, similar pizza prepared the same way. As far as I'm concerned, I'll enjoy pizza just about anyway it's served to me -call it anything you want!
 
I've never heard of Tavern Style. We have thin crust pizza, thicker/chewy crust pizza, and wood-fired pizza, but all are cut in triangles. I love pizza- double cheese, sweet sausage, canned mushrooms, bacon, roasted peppers, caramelized onions are all favorite toppings.
ETA Taco pizza- but i like it with regular sauce and mozzarella, not taco sauce and American cheese, which is how most of the local places prepare it. I also love a basic margharita pizza with fresh mozz and basil leaves- especially wood fired!
