Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2024)

Those AP “discounted” rates are NUTS! You’d think I’d be used to this by now: they’re always absurd for W&D dates and I almost always land offsite. But nope - it still shocks me every year!

Boy, I think this is the first time I haven’t found a good deal! The best I could do is switch from Movies to Sports, and I don’t really want to. Maybe after a day or two of other people changing their reservations, something better will open up.

Long time lurker looking for opinions. Due to my job, I have to fly out after the half marathon. Currently, Disney says a room at a value hotel is available 31st-4th but not 31st-3rd. So this got me thinking since I have an AP at Universal (I would need to buy tickets for Disney) and Universal's value resorts are a little over $100 a night for this weekend how much of a issue would it be to get an uber for race mornings. Would Ubers be available before the crack of dawn? Has anyone done this before?

Not the answer to your questions, but.....you could make the reservation for the 31-4th, then call and drop the last night. Disney IT is quirky at best, infuriating at worst.

But there are others who stay at Universal and do this. I'm sure they'll weigh in. I don't think it would be a big issue, though.

I always stay at Universal for race weekends and it 100% works. I have never used Uber although I've heard other people say that they are available for race mornings. I've always rented a car, usually from the Avis desk at the hotel, which is almost always cheaper and easier than picking up at the airport. Yes, you have to pay parking fees at Universal hotels, but by picking up at the hotel, I only pay for what I need.

That being said, I am staying at Cabana Bay for W&D and doing the challenge. So if you are interested in car pooling, we can talk.

If it were me I’d book at Disney and call to have them modify it. Just for the simplicity of bussing to the start. But I know a lot of people Uber without issue.

As a Gen X’er I am excited about this. I too saw them in 2022. I was excited to share the news with my daughter, who is doing the race with me.

It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that this is the only major act that I have the opportunity to see during Food & Wine and I wish it were someone I haven’t already seen.

Do Post-Race Party tickets ever reopen once sold out?
I totally goofed this year and missed the 5k tickets. Finally decided we’d opt for the party for our group of 8, but it’s sold out too - ugh!
Plan is to show up first thing at the expo to try to get 5k tickets. Has anyone had any luck getting Party tickets then too, in case it doesn’t reopen?

Not sure I understand the question correctly but if you are referring to the Sunday night postrace party those tickets are still available on the runDisney site.

And unfortunately they don't sell race bibs at the Expo. The races sell out much earlier than that.

Your best bet would be to try to find a charity that still has race bibs for sale (even if the link says travel providers, it's still the list of charity providers):

Or to sign up in Telegram to this account https://t.me/rundisalerts to try to snag a bib when the races reopen periodically. When that happens, it's usually for a handle of bibs and it opens and closes in a few minutes time.

I thought they were, but when I reached the choose date screen, it shows “Event Sold Out”. If I try to add to cart, it just shows up empty. I’d love to hear that it’s just user error!

All races opened back up. I snagged my 5k Swedish Chef. Script didn't work, but there must be many entries available even manually filling out and fiddling with CC entry it appears to have gone through.

Last year medals were revealed on July 13, which is a Thursday. So maybe this Thursday, which is the 25th? I’m hoping for a return to form after being disappointed the last couple years with the medals. I think they peaked in 2019 with the design.
