Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2022 (Nov. 3-6, 2022)

Is the "I did it" on all the medals, or just the challenge medal? I don't think you get the challenge medal if you get swept.
I'm not 100% sure about the 5k/Coco medal, but it's on the back of the spinner for the half (soul) and on the inside of the raya (10k) medal as well.

Maybe they're not going to give medals to those that are swept this year (as a "cost saving" measure.) Cue the torches and pitchforks.

Receiving any medal when being swept is weird. It is a medal for finishing a race, not starting it.
As someone who has received a medal from Disney while being swept, I can agree. I know one person who was on the bus with me said she would "earn it" by completing the miles virtually... but my mile is currently sitting on my floor. I tried to sell it but it fell through.

I have this conspiracy theory, too... the "I Did It" is a way to justify them not giving out medals. Given all of the people who had problems with their medal quality and requested replacements, I wonder if Disney is thinking about having extra medals for that purpose.

I usually get tickets from UCT but I saw a post elsewhere about Boardwalk Ticketing. Looked it up and could save like $100 for all of us. Sounds too good to be true. Anyone used them and can confirm they're as legit as UCT?
I've used them to buy a ticket for my daughter last spring. No issues. They are endorsed by some of the fairly well known blog sites.

I'm not really excited about the Wine and Dine medals. My DH will probably not even know some of these newer characters. I do like the Genie medal though. Was giving some thought to costumes this morning. No decisions other than I won't be matching the themes of the races more than likely. Also dislike the term, " I did it!" I never buy the merchandise that has it on there either. I'll have to go back and look at the medals more closely.

Where do people collect their medals if they are swept?

I also don't care for the "I did it!" lingo on runDis merch/medals. It seems very plain and uncreative for Disney. I much prefer the "Every Mile is Magic" wording on runDis stuff!

I'm not a fan of the branding either, and it seems weird to buy running merch with the slogan before you run the races.

EDIT: as for medals, I would guess they get them at the finish with everyone else. Bus takes them there and they walk through the section where you get the medal and snacks.

That is correct. I pulled myself at mile 1 of the marathon last year and there was people that met us past the finish line with medal and food boxes.

Add me to the 'not all that excited about the medals' group. To be honest I'm not all that thrilled about the themes in general. For it being Wine and Dine weekend it doesn't seem as such.
I agree and am still not over rD getting rid of the Chef Mickey theme for the weekend. It was probably getting "stale" for some but after four W&D weekends I still enjoyed it.

I don’t really like any of the medals. These may be the first Disney ones I sell.

I'm sure they will look great in person but I've never been a fan of the theme. The only movie that is represented that I've even seen is Aladdin. I don't really let the theme or medals make or break my weekend but if I did I would have skipped this year.
Honestly, if I wasn't perfect for the challenge and thinking I want to keep that I would have skipped this weekend. The theme isn't great and I wish the is weekend would get a better theme like the marathon has last year and this coming year. I mean, it is the race closest to the "birthday" of WDW after all...

I liked the Chef theme as well. We had fun making character themed chef costumes and I loved the patriotic year in 2019!

I agree with this. My favorite Disney medal is still the original W&D medal with Spaceship Earth. I wish Chef Mickey/the park remained the focus of the weekend. At the very least the festival itself could be the theme. Mickey is the mascot of the marathon every year (Donald the half, etc) yet they find a way to use the consistent mascot and still change up the underlying theme.

So much as I liked villains for virtual 20 & 21 at least when I ran 16-19 there was some cohesive theming

Agreed. I don't get why they removed the traditional Wine & Dine theme in recent years, and also I loved Chef Mickey.

The original concept never got stale to me. Actually the opposite, I used to feel more connected to the race and was always motivated to make it my yearly tradition. Similar to Marathon Weekend! Theming it to Epcot itself, the F&W fest, and Mickey felt unique among any race in existence. 🤷‍♀️

Alas. I was firmly on this soapbox before the 2022 W&D themes were announced, I also disliked the Villains takeover (Villains are fine, but give 'em their own race weekend!), and thus I remain on the soapbox! Lol. 🙃
