Won't miss it and hopefully will put something worthwhile and add to the fun of staying at SSR.

We won't miss them. I would love to see the retail be non-Disney, I get tired of the same old merchandise everywhere you go. I would also love to see them add one of those new fancy bowling alleys. It would be great family fun without having to go into the parks.

A year ago, news articles featured topics about gang-related problems in Downtown Disney. A debate was sparked about how to control the situation when Disney wanted to keep admission to DTD free - including issues with racial profiling. It got ugly.

More than one person has said that if they removed the bars/nightclubs, these gangs would have no reason to hang out in our DTD!

I will not miss them. Nightclubs only present a seedy side to Disney that I don't care to see.

I think it's really slimy that they announced this right after SSR sold out. I'm beyond going to dance clubs for the most part, but I was looking forward to AC & the comedy club on future no-kids visits. And actually, with DH, I would go dancing, too. And I was also looking forward to all those places being open for my kids when they're in their 20's. Oh well. Hope they relocate the 2 clubs and come up with something great for the rest of the space. I guess business wise, there just wasn't enough of a crowd at any of them on a regular basis? So sad....

I remember those articles and I remember at the time thinking that our next trip would not include a trip to DTD. We went anyway but early in the morning. I wonder if they have seen a decline in visitors there as well as the issues mentioned.

Haven't been in thirteen years. Won't miss it terribly.

PI opened three weeks before my first Honeymoom with my ex - we went, it was OK. When I got remarried and took my husband down for his first trip, we went - it had changed. More jello shots on the street, young women in bondagewear. And we still didn't really enjoy it. My husband strolled through with his brother, and added to the young men and women who were "un family friendly" said there were a surprising number of strollers being pushed around. Now it will close three weeks before our next trip.

I do hope this "crowd" doesn't move to the Boardwalk - I suspect they won't. House of Blues will still have music, I'd assume - so will Raglan Road.

I will definitely miss PI. I'll admit as I've gotten older, I haven't gone to PI lately, not because I didn't enjoy it anymore. It's just that I'm an old fart now and after doing the parks all day, I just didn't have the energy to go. Soaking my barking dogs (sore feet) in the hot tub and a taking a quick dip in the pool back at the resort was more appealing.

But when I did go to PI, I loved going to 8Trax. You couldn't get me out that place. I loved dancing to the songs I grew up with.

I'm just upset that I never took the opportunity to check out the Adventurer's Club.

Add us to the list of never beens, for the kids in tow reason.

HOWEVER, I wished I haven't been so busy to not see the press release on this subject because beginning today, Disney is substituting a round of golf at the Oak Trail course for PI on their tickets. We will soon be there and planning a round of golf into the schedule would have been sweet.

We have just started going to the night clubs and I have to admit that I'm going to miss them. It was just an added experience. We didn't go every trip but I liked the option. The Comedy Club and Adventurer's Club were lots of fun.

Never went to any of them in all our visits, so I sure won't miss them. It just isn't my thing, especially when at WDW. I am actually excited to see how they will use the space - maybe something new and fun!!!

For me, as an SSR owner, this is pretty nice news.

I've never done any of the clubs at DTD before but we are staying at SSR in August and I was planning on a night out at DTD with my DW while the grandparents watched the kids. I was going to do either the Comedy club or the Adventurers club. Is it possible to do both places in one night?

I will definitely miss AC and the CC. Now I'll have to plan at least 2 PI nights on our July trip to say farewell. I will also be writing Disney about how much I disagree with the decision to close down these two venues.

This is not good news for us. We just bought DVC and one of the big reasons that we did it now was for our daughters 21st birthday in December. We bought at AKV but only did it now because we could use the free SSR points this year to be near DTD for the six 21 year old girls I'm flying 3000 miles for this party. It's been planned for two years ..... can't wait to tell them if they want to dance they need to go to futureworld and jump around on painted dots until they get tired.

I'm not a happy "Disney" camper today:furious:

I did enjoy pleasure island, and will miss it, but i'm torn about it. PI did tend to attract very shady locals and dumb teenagers. I prefer Universal's City Walk anyways, more of a party atmosphere and we love going to Margaritaville! Oh, and a lot cheaper than PI. PI is too overpriced. We can buy tix to Citywalk for onl $9 a day.

Didn't read through all of the replies, so I apologize if this is redundant. I like the idea of more dining ::yes:: , but there really is no need for additional retail (I know one can never have enough Mickey ears, but really, more than 3Cinderella watches at one time is a bit over the top!). No one comes to WDW to shop (now the Mall of America as a shopping destination...that's another story)! :cool1: I would however love to see any additional proposed dining establishments to include evening dancing    to live music (or DJ's). They need to keep an eye on providing activities that adults love as well. There are large numbers of travelers who go to WDW/DTD long after their children have grown or who bring their adult children (and families) along. I'm in this group and would LOVE to see more dance clubs which appeal to a wide variety of adults (I may be 52, but I love all types of music so long as it has a beat you can move to!). Just my 5 cents. :thumbsup2

My husband described the PI clientele as "young women in impractical shoes and thuggish looking young men."

Have to agree...not that I go to PI often at all but I do lke having the option of going out for dancing and a drink every couple of trips......I have not been since you did not HAVE to be 21 to walk thru..I would not enjoy strollers and jello shooters in the same square footage I must admit...but where are guest suppose to go for a dance and a drink?? Is it off property?? Or will the Atlantic Dance Hall maybe join the new mil. now??? Hummmm.

I hope to see more high end restaurants and celeb chef style, tiredof driving to universal for any thing Emeril...LOL. At least I hope it will be a nice nite out...not burgers fries and a WDW tshirt that I could have bought at least ten times earlier in the day....ho hum.

Yes, good news for us SSR owners, cleaning up our backyard! Thank you Disney! The gangs, pipe bombs, drugs and street trash there were not what I would call "part of the Disney experience" - and unfortunately we had them trampling through SSR to get to/from DTD and parks via busses!

I'll miss the Adventurer's Club a whole lot! I hope that they move it to the Boardwalk area by Jelly Rolls. That would be a perfect spot for it.
