Please, please keep Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club. They were so much fun. They were the reason we bought the plus tickets. We would go to these two places 3 times in a week. Not interested in the others or drinking.

What is Adventure Club? MY dh and I went to the comedy club years ago.

A Disney style interactive comedy theatre fashioned after a 1930's adventurer's club. About half a dozen character actors mingled amongst the crowd entertaining (and often enlisting) them in various adlib humor bits. In between they held various sideshows in different rooms culminating in a big variety type show (done as a 1930's radio program) in the library.

It seems totally bizarre the first time you go, but once you realize it's a place to be eccentric it's unbelievable fun. It's also a big favorite with the CMs and regular visitors.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a groundswell of dispute about its closing. Maybe the news just hasn't sunk in properly yet.

Serious Downgrade!!:scared1:

Is it no coincidence that SSR sells out the same time the announcement is made?:rotfl2:

I see dire consequences only if this also means the NYE and July 4th parties disappear as well and take the fireworks with them. But on the bright side then I won't worry about the new booking policy affecting my NYE reservations. Mostly because I won't be making them again. :furious:

Okay who has that member services email? :furious: Or does anyone know who is in charge of the DTD entertainment district? Wait let me rephrase that because after this it won't be an entertainment district just a shoping and dining district.

I could care less about the night clubs but Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse are in a totally different category.

Agree!

Does DTD really need more shopping? Another distict with store after store selling the same merchandise, that you can find at any park or World of Disney?? No thank you.

I'm another who in 20-some years of WDW visits has not set foot inside any of the PI nightclubs. Nightclubs aren't the reason I go to WDW. So I can't say I will miss them but I definitely won't miss riding the DTD-Resort buses with some of the patrons of those establishments who may have overdone it a bit.

My family will really miss the Comedy Club! But the others can go. It was way too noisy and smoky for me, I always couldn't wait to get back to Ghiradelli's and the Marketplace, thats more my style. But I sure wish they would keep the comedy club. I did email them and made a couple of requests, one to make sure a nice ice cream shop goes in like Ghiradelli's down there, and to make affordable restaurants like Earl of Sandwich vs. fancy signature restaurants that families cannot afford.

Oh no! The only reason my DH would come with me to WDW was to go his beloved AC :scared1: How can I entice him now? :( Kongalosh!!! :stir:

I want to cry and scream and throw things. DH and I met on the college program so PI has a very very special place in our hearts, especially AC, we went there about once a week and have friends that work there. My WDW trips will never be the same now, I just don't know what we will do. We own DVC and this makes me really mad and part of me wishes that we didn't own there now. I am just so shocked, seriously who are these people that they asked? And No I'm sorry but I don't want to buy a tee-shirt at 12am I want to have some fun and have a drink! :furious:

I will miss the CC and AC. I already miss the "street party" and every night NYE celebration that stopped a few years ago.

/Jim

I'm really sad to see them go. But then, I was not pleased when they got rid of the West End Stage and the Jazz Club either. Apart from CW and AC it's been downhill since then.

I'm sure the profit per square foot of retail space has more to do with this decision than demands from customers! Whoever has approached Disney and requested more shopping opportunities :lmao:

I have only been to PI once, and visited the comedy club and 8 traxx. I must say that I had a BLAST at both. Before we had kids, we definitely looked forward to our one night of vacation on PI. This year marks my first year back since 01, and we are taking the inlaws. I had already planned to treat my inlaws to a dinner without us and the kids at Narcoossees to try to bribe them with a night of taking care of the kids so we could go back to 8 traxx. Oh well, I guess we will have to bring our own Kool and the Gang. Boo. However, I must not be the only one who went just once. If these places were busier, they wouldn't be getting shut down. I get the feeling that maybe the comedy club and AC are going to be victims of the environment. Maybe they will relocate those 2?

DTD has nightclubs? Just kidding, I've never been there, so i can't miss something i never experienced or planned to.

Really won't matter to me as we've never been late night people. The only time we've done any of the clubs was before the 2005 DVC Member Cruise. DVC threw a Bon Voyage party at Pleasure Island. The club with the revolving dance floor (sorry can't remember the name) was too dark and cold for my tastes. Not to mention that I almost fell on that revolving floor. We did take in a show at the Comedy Warehouse and enjoyed it but it isn't something I'd come back for every trip.

I do hope that the replacements are something that can be enjoyed day and night. Walking through Pleasure Island during the day is like being in a ghost town especially with so many of the little shops that used to be there now gone.

I won't miss it at all. It always seemed kind of sleazy to me. And it attracted a large element of people that I don't usually associate with Disney. I didn't always feel comfortable going there at night. I'd like to see more restaurants, especially more inexpensive places to eat like Earl of Sandwich.

I'm really sad about the Adventurers Club.:(
My Dh and I loved that place. Oh well, I guess change is good?...
We never ventured futher than AC because we love the bar stools, moose head and the salesperson from Athica!! Kungaloosh:love:

Do you think the clubs will cut back on cast members beginning now? I would like to go to the Adventurer's Club for one last hurrah in August but want it to be memorable not so-so. :worried:

We were looking forward to going when we have a child free trip, which is not happening before the shut down. I wonder if part of it is just having establishments that would be open all day and not just in the evening. If you can get people to eat and shop all day it seems like the profit margin would go up. It is also interesting now that SSR is about to sell out that it occurs. I guess no need to market being so close to the clubs. I also doubt that anything replacing it will be open as late allowing them to cut back on bus service.

I see it as an opportunity for DVCers to have more choices for dining, etc. when we don't have park tickets. Every few years, we vacation and take in all the non-park options.

I wonder how this will evolve with the retail being developed on the westward property.

Never been. We always had teens in tow and since the idea of a family vacation is to spend time together, it just didn't seem right to go off without them. Not really our thing anyway. I will be anxious to see what Disney does. I also think it is interesting that they waited until SSR was sold out to announce this.
