Unfortunately, the problems at DTD were underage "gangs" that were disturbing the peace. PI was seemingly safer... as they were not allowed in. Now there will be more places for local teens to loiter...:worried:.

I agree. DTD Westside was far worse than in PI itself - or at least that was the case when PI was entry by ticket only. Once they opened it up for anyone to walk through, it became as bad as DTD Westside and I'm sure that's when people began complaining about it. I never found PI as enjoyable after they opened it for everyone to walk through.

I will miss Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse!!

Sadly we've never been either, but it's sad when anything gets eliminated our Disney World. OK no, I take that back! If they decided to eliminate Sounds Dangerous and replace it with something cool tomorrow I'll do cartwheels for sure.

It's sad to see the places that drove Pleasure Island go. :(

I will miss PI alot. Had a few friends that worked there, and it was always a blast to go there. Loved the AC, Comedy Club, 8 Trax, and spent many a nights trying to get off that spinning dance floor at Mannequins.

My DH LOVED the AC and that is the ONLY thing he liked about going to Disney...He Hates Disney, but LOVED AC...now I will have to tell him that its closing.:( :( :furious: :furious:

DH and I went there on our honeymoon, but since we had kids we haven't gone back, so no we aren't going to miss it. We do enjoy shopping at DTD so maybe a few more shops would be ok.

Other than AC I didn't really care about PI one way or the other. Thus, it was not financially worth it. I am gald they will put stuff here with no cover charges

Anyone wishing to join us at the AC for it's final farewell, please click below and post that you are coming.

QUOTE-"Pleasure Island nightclub closures as a response to their customers, who say they want more broad-based dining and retail opportunities"

MARKETING SLY GUY TRANSLATION-

retail opportunities = Victoria's Secret

broad-based dining = Hooters

Victoria's Secret is not only in every mall...but is now the biggest store in our mall (they have 3 stores side-by-side). I already get 7 magazines a month from them :furious: and am sure they are talking to Disney about why they need to be at DTD.

If you've ever been to a Hooters ( I use to be a single a young man) ....I found it funny how this place had become main-stream and people brought their kids? :faint:

I guess you can't miss something you never did but I always wanted to go to PI. I guess it's been on my mind for a while for me and DH to take trip by ourselves, if that would've happened we would've definately hit PI.

Losing the AC is a letdown, luckily DW and myself just had a weekend to ourselves and got to enjoy it. It is such a quirky fun place to unwind after a nice dinner or day at the park.

I think the people who don't care for a nightclub area don't care as it's not for them but for those who do enjoy it - it will be missed. The comments on the "type" of people who visit PI are funny, it's like any other entertainment district and for all the times we've gone, we have never had a problem and had a good time.

I think it failed to keep generating $$$ as the focus the past few years has shifted to all inclusive, no OOO expense. So we can all worry about how many credits the new dining will be and yet more places to buy some t-shirts.

Sad indeed

Can't say we'll miss it. It wasn't the old PI from the 80's and 90's. We enjoyed the one price let you into all the clubs and especially the Fireworks Factory for dining. New Years Eve every night celebration was fantastic, but then things changed, open court, more riff raff wandering around, gangs, the whole atmosphere changed to a place you didn't want to be or feel safe in. I must say we never went back in the late 90's but planned on going to the AC last trip but never made it. We're headed down this late summer, AC will still be open and going to make it mission to go since it will be gone. As far as the other clubs and atmosphere, hope they actually put something there that early can cater to families and later in the night adults only like in the past. There are plenty of places in WDW, almost total WDW for families but nothing or no place for parents to go and singles to escape and have an adult night. PI in its origin was supposed to be that place, but changed. DTD, West Side is enough shopping, each store has about the same things you can get in any park and Boardwalk has very little to do, more seeing than doing. They need to put alittle thought into their plans and give the adults alittle of an escape such as the AC, some shows, adult entertainment to make planning a night out worthwhile.

Good riddance! The clubs were lame and the anti-family riff-raff that it attracted was apparent. Hopefully they will bring in at least some hi-end dining and not just more "Le Cellier" in disguise type restaurants.:stir: :wizard:

I had to vote yes because of the Adventurer's Club. I still can't believe they are closing it. Hopefully they will realize what a gem it was and open it again somewhere else on property, but even if they do, it will never be the same.

I personally only went twice in over 40 trips to WDW. It used to amuse me the number of people who would post to ask if it was "okay" or "appropriate" to take their kids there. I used to respond with "do you take your kids to bars at home?" I agree with other posters that this will just give more "groups"/"gangs" places to hang/loiter.

Strangely, I voted that I don't care either way. There was a time when I would have voted that I will miss the clubs. But that was before Disney so greatly de-valued the whole PI experience by removing the gates and the "free" entertainment in the streets. Its such a shadow of its former self that the only thing that has been keeping it open has been momentum.

Personally I am crushed...my honeymoon was going to be my first trip since my 21st b-day and I was looking so forward to going to Pleasure Island for the night. While I had been to Adventure Club (my fav) and Comedy Club growing up the other clubs such as Mannequin held such a mysterious draw for me, I was crying last night when I heard. :sad1:

That being said it does make sense to take the dance clubs out to make them more for every age, however I think the Comedy and Adventure clubs should stay because as a kid I loved going to them with my parents...those can be for all ages still. :confused3
