I will not miss the clubs. We never went. I also am happy for the SSR owners. It should clean up DTD and make it more Disney.

We like to go to the Comedy Club and the Adventurers club. They will be missed. I don't care to much about the dance clubs, but I know my kids will be disappointed. My DD looked forward to turning 21 and heading over to PI. That was all she talked about last trip.

We will absolutley miss the Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse...we used to spend at least 2 night of our 5 night stay there and had some really good times taking part in the acts. I honesly can't imagine more retail offerings in that area...we don't shop the shops they have there now, except World of Disney. How sad...

Guess we'll have to find another use for all of those "extra" visits we have on our park tickets now...AC and CW were the only reasons we got the "extras".

I am glad they are closing and replacing them with more dining and shopping. Never went in any of them anyway.

You can read the plans for the new PI over at the Rumor & News section. After reading about some of the changes I feel a little better about it in the long run.;)

Never went to them nor really panned to. We have young kids and if I am going to pay WDW babysitter fees. I'm going toa nice palce to eat or have fun at a park with DH.:thumbsup2

Unfortunately, the problems at DTD were underage "gangs" that were disturbing the peace. PI was seemingly safer... as they were not allowed in. Now there will be more places for local teens to loiter...:worried:.

Orlando teens must be pretty desperate for loitering places if hanging around World Of Disney does it for them!

A Disney style interactive comedy theatre fashioned after a 1930's adventurer's club. About half a dozen character actors mingled amongst the crowd entertaining (and often enlisting) them in various adlib humor bits. In between they held various sideshows in different rooms culminating in a big variety type show (done as a 1930's radio program) in the library.

It seems totally bizarre the first time you go, but once you realize it's a place to be eccentric it's unbelievable fun. It's also a big favorite with the CMs and regular visitors.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a groundswell of dispute about its closing. Maybe the news just hasn't sunk in properly yet.

Where can I find this section. I would love to see the plans...

September 27 is the last night. And according to Disney (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/helpFAQ?id=PleasureIslandFAQPage) Adventurer's Club and the Comedy Club are among the closures.

Ok, I'm officially unhappy about this one.
Hmmm ... my DH and I went to DtD only once (before by DD was born in 1999) and we were not impressed. I didn't even have fun at the AC :confused3. We buy regular park-hoppers or standard APs so we never have tickets to the place. I guess I'll have to give AC one more try in August ... I'll need to pencil in an early evening there.

Just go below to the forum jump and pick Disney Rumors and News. There's two threads about Pleasure Island open the one titled "Pleasure island closing night clubs" it's the smaller of the two but more to the point. I'd just put up a link to it but something is wrong with this site today and I can't. I don't even know if this post will end up on this page.... lol

Won't miss em. DW and I visited PI about 10 years ago back when we had the unlimited hopper tickets. Spent about 20 minutes wandering from club to club before leaving altogether.

I'm all in favor of Disney having attractions to suit all tastes, but it seems apparent that there weren't enough fans for the clubs. If there were, the clubs wouldn't be closing.

So close them down and bring in something with more mass appeal. :thumbsup2

EDIT: I'll also add that I'm hoping this means DTD will have a more cohesive feel all around. For us the Marketplace has always been the draw. Then you've got PI--only open at night--in the middle. And the West Side is basically...the place that nobody goes!?!

I'm not sure how we would ever cover all of that ground if we end up with a DTD that's Marketplace x3, but I'm willing to give it a shot if they add shops and restaurants that appeal to our family.
Ditto to everything you said except I never made it to PI even once. I had no interest in it at all.
Anything they put in place of PI has to be better.

Moving to Theme Parks Forum . . . ......

Actually, I'll miss the two you didn't mention -- Adventurer's Club and Improv Comedy Warehouse.

DH & I loved the PI nightclubs and will definitely miss them. We are DVC members who own at SSR and loved being able to enjoy the clubs at night so close to "home" when we went on our trips without the kiddies. But then again we are still wild and crazy after 16 years of marriage:cool2: :dance3:

I voted not really either way......

I also never went to them.....well not since I was 20 and couldn't go in the good clubs:headache:

I liked the "idea" that they were there though. Obviously it was not busy....or was attracting the wrong "type" of crowd.....think young rowdy kids.
Hopefully they will always keep somewhere in WDW if you want to dance tha night away:goodvibes

Dh and I went to the clubs in 1996, before we had kids, and I loved the Adventurers Club. Since then our trips have revolved around the kiddos and now it's closing! I know the clubs are not a good place for kids but I'd like to get some photos of the AC before it closes. Do you think it's OK to bring the kids just long enough for a few pictures? :confused3 Is that bad parenting?

I am sad to see them closing but I guess other families were like us and didn't go to PI at night because they had small kids.

*** OK I wrote that before I read the prior pages. I had no idea it was attracting unsavory people, I don't want to put my kids in that kind of a situation so I'll just say that I'm sad the AC is closing! ***

the dance clubs - no
Adventurers Club - yes :( - so I had to vote yes just for that

We didn't go last trip with the kids and I was so looking forward to planning a trip with just hubby that would include hitting Adventurers Club
