I will not miss the clubs. We never went. I also am happy for the SSR owners. It should clean up DTD and make it more Disney.
Unfortunately, the problems at DTD were underage "gangs" that were disturbing the peace. PI was seemingly safer... as they were not allowed in. Now there will be more places for local teens to loiter....

A Disney style interactive comedy theatre fashioned after a 1930's adventurer's club. About half a dozen character actors mingled amongst the crowd entertaining (and often enlisting) them in various adlib humor bits. In between they held various sideshows in different rooms culminating in a big variety type show (done as a 1930's radio program) in the library.
It seems totally bizarre the first time you go, but once you realize it's a place to be eccentric it's unbelievable fun. It's also a big favorite with the CMs and regular visitors.
I'm actually surprised there isn't a groundswell of dispute about its closing. Maybe the news just hasn't sunk in properly yet.
You can read the plans for the new PI over at the Rumor & News section. After reading about some of the changes I feel a little better about it in the long run.![]()
Hmmm ... my DH and I went to DtD only once (before by DD was born in 1999) and we were not impressed. I didn't even have fun at the ACSeptember 27 is the last night. And according to Disney (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/helpFAQ?id=PleasureIslandFAQPage) Adventurer's Club and the Comedy Club are among the closures.
Ok, I'm officially unhappy about this one.
Where can I find this section. I would love to see the plans...
Ditto to everything you said except I never made it to PI even once. I had no interest in it at all.Won't miss em. DW and I visited PI about 10 years ago back when we had the unlimited hopper tickets. Spent about 20 minutes wandering from club to club before leaving altogether.
I'm all in favor of Disney having attractions to suit all tastes, but it seems apparent that there weren't enough fans for the clubs. If there were, the clubs wouldn't be closing.
So close them down and bring in something with more mass appeal.
EDIT: I'll also add that I'm hoping this means DTD will have a more cohesive feel all around. For us the Marketplace has always been the draw. Then you've got PI--only open at night--in the middle. And the West Side is basically...the place that nobody goes!?!
I'm not sure how we would ever cover all of that ground if we end up with a DTD that's Marketplace x3, but I'm willing to give it a shot if they add shops and restaurants that appeal to our family.
