I will not miss them. I never went there. I have only been to Marketplace and the West Side...La Nouba, DQ and HoB.

Haven't been since '99, and only had a so-so time back then; so I really won't be missing much of anything.

The Adventurer's Club, yes. I am really bummed about it being closed. Already have tickets for PI for our October trip (you need the whole PI ticket not just one-club tickets for AC), but I guess they are just souvenirs now since there won't be anything there to go to by then :( The rest of the clubs not really, we never went to anything but the Adventurer's Club.

KUNGALOOSH! (That was said with sniffles, by the way.)

Ok, I'm really frustrated by this, for several reasons.

First of all, they couldn't have timed it worse. Our wedding date is Sept. 27, and we arrive at wdw for our honeymoon early on the 28th. So, I'm sure the whole time we are there, there will be no PI, and nothing else built in its place yet, so it will just be this giant blocked off area that we will have to detour around.

Secondly, as a College Program alum, I love PI for the nostalgia. Some of the funnest and most exciting nights of my life were spent there! I was really looking forward to going there just for the memories to come back. I really feel sorry for the kids that are currently on the College Program. For us, PI was a reasonably priced (we got in free) and safe way to go out with friends after work. Now all the CP kids (many who are away from home for the first time) are going to go to downtown Orlando instead, which means they will have to drive (college kids+drinking+driving=bad) and they won't be in a safe and familiar environment.

Finally, I think Disney really has enough "family" entertainment. PI was a nice little niche for adults without children who want to enjoy some time having fun at Disney without being surrounded by screaming babies and getting stampeded by strollers. I'm also wondering why there is a need for "family time" as late at night as PI stays open? Children should not be up running around Disney at 2am. That is just encouraging bad parenting. So why not have the rest of DTD available for family, with PI shut down and used as just a walkway, time until about 10pm or so, and then have PI open. All the kids should be going to bed by then anyway, and it should only be adults out, so why not switch to more adults forms of entertainment? Getting rid of all bars and clubs in DTD just seems like bad marketing to me. Once it gets to be kids' bedtime, all you are going to have down there is a bunch of adults who have already ate, are sick of shopping, and just really aren't into eating ice cream and bowling, or playing video games, or whatever their ingenious club-alternatives are.

Sorry for the vent...I just really don't get it...

I am personally glad to see it go. I do not drink or party and do not like that environment at all. I have never been down there, and it never bothered me personally, but it will be nice to have more family friendly options.

Marnm02 - I have to say that I was tickled by the idea that having kids out after 10 at Disney is bad parenting! I don't think my kids have ever been in bed before 10 at Disney, and they often are still up at home too.

Wow, that's really upsetting.:rolleyes1
The difference is there's not a thread of people whining about it!:rolleyes2
Say goodbye to the AC...and good riddance!:stir:

I agree! I've been to the AC once and didn't care for it at all. Even worse, I thought the nightclubs were "the worst foot forward" of anything Eisner had ever done (and that's saying a lot). That and the rest of the night clubs can go bye-bye!

WDW's DTD can now follow the successful example of DL's DTD. "Dining, shopping, entertainment" without nightclubs. That is what Disney wanted to do with WDW's DTD for a long time now.

Leave it to Universal to fill in the gap of the missing nightclubs - they seem to be good at that.

I wonder with all the feedback and uproar from the internet discussion polls that are being taken, that Disney will end up deciding to keep AC and the Comedy Club. There have been thousands of letters sent now, I know they listen. I personally didn't like the AC very much, but for those that did I feel for you, I really do. I hate it when I love something that much and its just taken away. I would love for the Comedy Club to stay, I feel awful for the crew there, I wonder where they'll go.

Never enjoyed PI that much and enjoyed it even less when it became open and more kids were there when they should be in bed. I personally enjoy City Walk at Universal much better. Even though that is also open, there aren't kids hanging around in the bars like PI.

Actually, Disney Villain, they are NOT good at it. The couple of times I went to Universal at night it was nearly impossible to get in anywhere. The crowds were awful. In terms of trying to eat food, forget about it unless you want to wait for at least 1 hour, but usually closer to 2 with your name on a list. There is just not enough there to support the crowds.

For all the people out there that don't care about PI, it is because you have small children. Once those babies are grown, why should we have to let go of Disney?

Disney's DVC marketing materials cater to the fact that anyone can enjoy DVC--the diversity of the program is what makes it so unique. There are great venues for everyone, catering to so many styles of vacationing in Disney, which is what I think makes it so successful. It is not a cookie cutter vacation. You can choose among so many different things to do. I still haven't done everything there, and my trips are so frequent, I can't even remember all of them. There should be a venue for teens-young adult, and adults. Familiies do not only consist of 20-30 somethings with small children! These are not the only people who LOVE Disney. People grow and change, but Disney will always be in my heart!

Keep Comedy Warehouse and ADventurer's Club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Only One I'll really miss in the Adventurers Club(possibly my favorite place in disney after Pirates!)....good thing I get to go one last time in August!

I was thinking the same thing. These people are some of the most amazing talent. I have never seen improv done so well. They are incredibly entertaining and know how to gauge the show according to the time....i.e. 7p.m. show is rated G, 8 p.m. PG, 9 p.m PG-13, etc.

Kids were really involved in the early shows. I remember my son got called up on stage to participate in an improv. He got a button saying he was part of the show. It was the highlight of his trip. We were both in stitches laughing from the comedy here. :rotfl: If you never got a chance to see it, that's too bad. What a great group these people are.

Disney, WHAT are you thinking?

If 1/3 of the pollsters are not happy about this....does this warrant a better look at the demographic? If they are just trying to keep people who don't have little ones out of Disney, that's a shame. Disney is for all--young, young adult, older, old, and very old. That's my viewpoint on it, anyway. :3dglasses

I am sad to see the Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse go :(

It is quite disturbing to see such a friendly community as the DIS go harsh on one another due to difference of opinions. I hope we all remember that while something one person loves, may not be a cup of tea for the other. Still, we need to respect that. :)

I personally feel that Disney made an enormous mistake when they took the gates down to Pleasure Island. In my own opinion, that is when PI started to go downhill. We only frequented the Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse (once or twice) and think they should keep them. They offer variety and options for adults without children. Not everything should be about kids and their parents.

Here's my .02 on the whole PI topic. The only time I was a fan of nightclubs was from about the age of 21-22. Yup, that short of a time. I would rather go sit at a pub and have a conversation and drinks with friends than get hit on by slime-balls that thought they were God's gift to women.

Anyhow, after having lived in So. Cal for 3 years and making multiple trips to Disneyland I have to say I prefer DTD at DL over the one at WDW. It is a little smaller but I loved the dining choices and a few extra shops that weren't on every corner. Most of them were actually unique specialty shops. Ditto with the restaurants - not chains. OK, me personally, I'd love to see a PF Chang's or Pei Wei China Bistro at DTD. Yes these are chains but it's such good food!!!

I know there are so many places to eat and dine at WDW already but almost every single store in DTD or in a park is the same stuff just in a different place. Time for a little non-Disney stuff. I love many Disney restaurants but it's nice to get away and go to Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Pucks Express. I think Disney needs more restaurants like that. Personally I wish they would get rid of Planet Hollywood and replace it with something else.

So I'm wondering if Disney seeing the success of the DTD at Disneyland is changing the one at WDW to be more like DL. If they do I will love it and I'm hoping a lot of other people do too.

Not glad to hear it will be more shopping and dining, but I'm still waiting to see what Disney's "bold new vision" will be. :lmao: Maybe the "bold new vision" won't just be more shopping and dining.

Maybe they'll put scrapbooking stuff in the scrapbook store! Disney says, "Scrapbook stuff in a scrapbook store? How silly! We should put books, CDs and leather cell phone covers in a scrapbook store! BWAHAHAHA!" They laugh and they scoff at the idea of stocking a store with things people going in there might want to buy.:rotfl2:

I won't miss the clubs. I always liked Universal better, anyway. :)

Wouldn't miss Cirque if they chose to shut that down. Prefer Blue Man Group at Universal there, too.

It really shocks me that 40% here think that Disney needs more places to eat and shop. Seriously? 100's of restaurants and shops aren't enough for you guys?

we will miss 8traxx. every trip we went here and danced the rest of the night away. havent told my DW about the closing yet. i am sure she will be very dissapointed if they do not open a club that we can go to on site. the music of the 70's that played at times reminded me of the days of sergio valente jeans, silk shirts and large gold chains. my kids still cant believe i dressed like that.
.
for us it did what Disney is great at doing. allowing us to go into a fantasy world. i felt like i was back in 2001 or studio 54 and was in my 20's again. each time we were there the crowd was around my age and seemed to all be having a great time also. i do love to eat but i wont get the same feeling from another resturant that i get when i was out there dancing with my wife

Some of you make it sound like Disney is closing the only nightclubs in the Orlando Metro area. A short taxi ride from anywhere in Disney is International Drive. A place that you can visit and get the same night club experience. Well maybe not the same, but very close. Last October I worked a trade show at the Orlando convention center and stayed and played on International Drive. Being as this was a business trip I attended many dinners with colleagues and clients, not to mention additional after hours activities and you can have the same amount of fun on International Dr. as you can at any Disney Night Club.....and don't give me the I have to take a Taxi or drive thing (DW just threw that one at me)... I am not buying that. Just call a taxi and head on over to the ID for some adult entertainment.

Not to mention Boardwalk has three places that you can visit if you have to get your night club fix with out leaving Disney(ESPN club, Spoodles and Jelly Rolls). Here you have sports, dancing and a dueling piano bar.

I personally enjoyed going out in my younger years, but will not miss PI at all!!
