Will the GC DVC make MS extend hours?

When the Grand Californian DVC opens for business, will member services extend their hours to accomodate the three hour time change? As I am in CA, I often forget to take into account EST vs. PST, and find that MS is closed for the day, when it is only mid afternoon here.

Good question, one I'm sure Disney probably hasn't thought about.

I would imagine they would have to extend evening hours, and perhaps shorten morning hours to accomodate all members fairly. I know I would not be happy calling to try and book a ressie for a location that is a half hour drive from here, and find the booking office was closed before 5:00 local time.

Not all of those who plan to buy at the California location live in the Pacific Time Zone - sounds like there are many existing members who are considering a purchase there.

I don't think DVC will adjust MS hours unitil there is some "critical mass" of members who live in the western time zones. We're not there yet.

I doubt they will, or at least very much. They could extend Thursday evening a little later still, they're already open on Sat. There is an inherent cost to having MS open longer hours and it goes far beyond a few phonecalls for those wanting 11 month GCV reservations. Many timeshares have members and resorts all over the world and I don't know of any that specifically have hours directed at one group though many have longer hours and/or more weekend options than does DVC.

Why should they extend the hours? West Coast people are actually at an ADVANTAGE for booking during non-working hours as compared to those in the east and midwest. MS opens at 9:00 am ET, 8:00 am CT, so that makes it hard for people who work to call first thing in the morning (which can be crucial for many reservations). Those in the PT time zone have MS opening at 6:00 am, which is early but not unreasonable.

Good Point. I live in AZ, but I guess I never thought of it that way.

Like Doctor P pointed out it's easy to make our reservation before I leave for work in the morning during the 6 - 7 AM PST.

Much nicer than trying to get WDW CRT reservations at 4AM!

Left coast also gets football at 9am how cool is that and thry can actually watch the end of Monday and Sunday Night Football. Jealous.:thumbsup2
