Will I be able to book port adventures?

Background:
We are sailing on the Fantasy in August. When some of our friends learned about that they changed their booking to sail on the same cruise as us. So we "connected" our bookings.
They are Platinum CC members and so are we.

And here's where we have a problem. Our cruise is paid in full. Theirs is not and because of an emergency they will not be able to be paid in full 120 days before the cruise. (They will still go, just pay more towards the 90 days)
Will they let me book dining and port adventures for MY stateroom once my window opens or because of the connected staterooms will I be locked out?

Never had that problem before and now fearing that I will need to wait until they are paid in full also.

Any insight is more than welcome.

If your stateroom is PIF, you should be able to book at Platinum time.

I don't think the paid in full part should matter any more than status differences. We have 3 linked staterooms on our upcoming cruise and one of them contains all new-to-DCL cruisers. I was still able to book activities and check in the other two rooms before their date opened, no problem. You'll see all the linked reservations on the "my reservations" page, but each reservation has its own link to booking activities and checking in.

We have 3 linked staterooms on our upcoming cruise and one of them contains all new-to-DCL cruisers. I was still able to book activities and check in the other two rooms before their date opened, no problem.

That's great to know! But were they all PIF by the time you booked? My problem is that they will not be PIF and as far as I can remember (last cruise was already a year ago) the booking window only opens if you are PIF.

You'll see all the linked reservations on the "my reservations" page, but each reservation has it's own link to booking activities and checking in.

Yes, I do see that and can access their reservation as well. First time with connecting staterooms - so this is all a bit new to us, even as seasoned cruisers. Thank you!

I believe you will be able to select YOUR port adventures. But you would not be able to add the non-PIF friends onto them. They could not book theirs until they are PIF. But just linking should not affect your ability to book for yourself.

If you're that nervous about it, you could always unlink until you've done your check-in and port adventure selection, then relink once you're done.

I'm not 100% positive on it, but I think the linking really only applies to basically saying "we want to be seated together". Because even on a reservation with people in the same stateroom you don't have to book a port adventure for everyone in the room. So it only makes sense to me that you could still book the port adventures for yourself.

I just suggested the unlinking in case it was really worrisome. Worst-case if for some reason you can't book your adventures, THEN unlink and book before re-linking. Granted for something time-sensitive like the possibility of a cabana that would suck, but other than that...

Yes, the linking is mainly just for seating together. It can also be used for kid club pick ups if people are designated as such but for taking kids off of the ship additional paperwork still needs to be filed (forgot this 2x! The problem comes in at Castaway Cay, when one kid wants to go to the beach right away and he happens to be registered in dad's room. Yes, they will turn you away at the gangplank and you will have to go back to guest services and fill out a form!) But the reservations are completely separate, even if one spouse is in one room and another spouse in the other or something like that. If one room is paid in full, they can book "early" according to Castaway status and the other room has to wait until it is PIF.

Yes, you will be able to book your port adventures even if the linked reservation is not PIF. You will see their names but they will be grayed out and not able to select them (sounds like you wouldn't anyway). I've done this in the past - had 2 linked reservations but only PIF one in order to reserve a cabana. Wasn't anything else pressing to reserve so didn't want to give DCL money before I had to! No worries, you'll be fine.

That's interesting. We've never been able to book for others who had a different CC status. And, yes, the PIF matters. If you are not PIF by your check in date, you cannot check in until you are PIF.

I think I must not have explained well enough... quoting myself with additions: "I was still able to book activities and check in the other two SILVER rooms before their (the new cruisers) date opened, no problem."

We have 3 linked staterooms, and I have handled all the check-in/activity bookings for all 3. Two were silver CC, third was new cruisers. When silver booking opened, I did everything for those 2 cabins. When the no-CC-status room's date hit, I did everything for theirs. I couldn't book anything for the non-silvers during the silver check-in period... but having that no-CC-status room linked to the others didn't prevent the silvers from booking activities earlier.

That's awesome. On our last couple of DCL cruises DH and I have been in the same cabin, so it hasn't been an issue. But... you think I would have learned the first time! lol.
