Does anyone know if there is a chance to get two nights (during the week) here? A friend wants to stay 2 nights in Disney with his family and I thought he could rent points and stay somewhere nicer than a moderate.

I have no idea how quickly these book up.

Thanks,
Pam

you need to be on the DVC rental/trade board -

but until you furnish the dates and someone goes to MS - I don't think anyone can say.

some nights in October are already gone.

what DVC resorts and what nights are you looking at? You want a studio - right?

When I called to book a studio at VWL a while ago, I had to wait on hold until they could confirm the villa was actually available. Then when MS did, she suggested I book it so that I didn't loose it. We're going from 10/4-10/9. Don't know if that helps any.

that is surprising I do not understand - at the 60 day mark - today in fact - but sooner?

they are generally calling CRO - at the 60 day mark all the unsold DVC resort villa go to CRO for renting - so this is not strange after 60 days - but before?

anyway glad you got what you wanted.

Thanks...yes, it helps. At least I know I can suggest this to them and tell them I can see if their dates are available. If someone had posted to tell me NO WAY, they're booked solid through December, or something like that, I wouldn't even suggest it to them. I just have to tell them they need to decide now. Not sure they are big advance planners, though. But, to be able to stay in a studio in lieu of a moderate for the same cost (or less!) - it's worth a little advanced planning!

I would suggest them get a few more points and try for a 1 bedroom, then they will really feel like they got their money worth. I honestly can't see the difference in a studio and a mod room. Maybe a little bigger, but thats it. So you get the coffee pot and toaster, even some of the mods have refrigerators. See if they can get a deal on points and suggest the 1 bedroom, during the week a 1 bedroom would be double the points - 48, but if you can get a "fire sale" it could be worth it!!

There is definitely a difference between a studio and a moderate. Having a sofa, refrigerator, toaster, microwave, coffee pot and plates may seem minor to some people but having shifted from a BCV studio last year to AKL (technically deluxe) believe me I noticed the difference even if the room size seemed approximiately similar. Sure a 1 bedroom is an improvement but why pay double the points (and money) if you don't need to?

That said...there can be sales that time of year for regular hotel rooms. If they can't get the reservation in a studio they could try for a room in WL. Its the main reason I split my week last year...and I enjoyed the room in AKL but the lack of a coffee pot drove me nuts.
