Hey there.
We'll be staying at a cabin in the Fort Wilderness resort in WDW in December. I've done a lot of research on WDW but some things I just can't seem to find answers to. I have a couple of questions for those of you who have stayed at a cabin in Fort Wilderness:

1) Are staples such as bread, milk, juice, fruit available in the store on the resort and if so, are they crazy prices? I'm wondering if we should order grocery delivery from wegoshop.com instead???? We just want breakfast food and maybe a few snack foods.

2) We're taking the Mickey Express from the airport. How do I know our airline is a 'participating airline' that will set our luggage aside for them to be loaded onto the bus without us having to do it ourselves?

3) We won't have a vehicle - when we arrive I'm assuming we'll have to wait for a bus at the check-in to go to our cabin? How often do the internal busses go?

4) How long would it take to walk to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue from the cabin areas (let's say the 2700 group of cabins)? Just wondering if we should take the bus or walk it.

5) Is the boat from the wilderness resort to the Magic Kingdom the fastest way to get there?

6) Can you swim at the beach that I see pictures of?

I have more questions but I'll keep searching before I ask any more. ;)

Thanks much.

We stayed in a Wilderness Cabin in 1996, so it has been a while, and I am getting older, but I'll try to tell you what I remember.

Most if not all of the items you mention are at the trading post. Prices would be typical Disney (or anywhere that has a captive audience that has little choice). However, I doubt the items would be any more than what you would pay for those items plus the delivery charges otherwise if you don't shop onsite. We bought a few things and I don't remember them being outrageous.

We had a vehicle, and they didn't have ME when we flew that trip, so I can't say about the airline thing, or tell you about waiting on a bus to go to your cabin since we drove there. We never seemed to have a very long time waiting on the buses, but like I said, that was 1996. We took the internal bus to the waterfront I think. We went to the parks via the buses and the watercraft from the resort. It seems there wasn't a real difference in length of time either way, but we just went with the flow so I didn't time anything. We had small kids at the time so I don't think we ever walked to a whole lot in the resort unless it was fairly close (the pool for instance, even though it was another campsite area away I think).

Not sure about the beach area. We let the kids swim in the nearest pool whenever we relaxed at the resort.

Sorry I'm not much help but maybe I gave you something useful.

There is a thread on the main page of discussion boards about camping at Disney. You may want to ask this question there and see if you get more responses from more experienced people.

1) Are staples such as bread, milk, juice, fruit available in the store on the resort and if so, are they crazy prices? I'm wondering if we should order grocery delivery from wegoshop.com instead???? We just want breakfast food and maybe a few snack foods.Yes those are available at the Trading Posts. The price is slightly higher than an offsite grocery but if you only need a few things the extra cost may still be less than the delivery fee.

2) We're taking the Mickey Express from the airport. How do I know our airline is a 'participating airline' that will set our luggage aside for them to be loaded onto the bus without us having to do it ourselves? On the incoming part of ME all you need to do is put the yellow tags that you recieve in your welcome packet on your bags. With these tags the luggage will be pulled before it get to the carosel at MCO. Participating airline on the way home is slighlty different, if your airline participates you can use RAC, resort(remote) airline check in to get your boarding pass and check your bags at your resort. If your airline is not participating(SW comes to mind) then you can still use ME but you will have to take your bags to the ME bus and check in at the airpoort. PS your luggage will arrive at your cabin aprox 3 hours after you check in, it does not go on your ME bus

3) We won't have a vehicle - when we arrive I'm assuming we'll have to wait for a bus at the check-in to go to our cabin? How often do the internal busses go?I think FW will have a van take you to your cabin, but the buses run in continual loops so you shouldn't wait more than 10min

4) How long would it take to walk to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue from the cabin areas (let's say the 2700 group of cabins)? Just wondering if we should take the bus or walk it.The walk is about 1 mile

5) Is the boat from the wilderness resort to the Magic Kingdom the fastest way to get there?Yes the boat is the fastest way to MK

6) Can you swim at the beach that I see pictures of?For various heath and safey reasons there is no longer any swiming in the lakes

I have more questions but I'll keep searching before I ask any more. ;)
Make sure you check out the camping board further down the main page, you will find lots of help there
Thanks much.
