SHELL - thanks for asking about John. His foot is feeling better now. I took him to a foot specialist the other day but I feel like I was given the complete run around. The first nurse that saw him took x-rays, said nothing was broken and said basically that he pulled the muscle/tendon that runs along the bottom of his foot. No big deal she said. The Dr. then came in, touched his heal in 3 places and said "he has blah blah blah disease". I was like "WHAT?!!!" He went into this long winded explanation about how common it is..blah blah blah...they want him to wear a brace at night (which isn't covered by insurance and would cost me $100)..they want to fit him for orthotics...another $250 out of pocket...and regular visits to the foot Dr. This is the 1st time John has EVER complained about any pain at all. He's a fairly active 7 yr old who recently started breaking boards in karate with his feet. You think maybe he just hurt it a bit? I do....he woke up the next day (Wed. morning) and his heal has been fine ever since. Sorry to rant...probably why I didn't post about it the other day...I was VERY frustrated.
By the way...I don't take it lightly when my kids complain about something...they are generally not sick and they don't really complain much (about physical stuff that it
) I just really feel that in this situation the Dr. was way to quick to jump to a conclusion.
Ok...deep breath...I feel better now. Thanks for listening!
