Disneyland 70th speculations and news

WDW is just as early as Disneyland. In fact, they started Halloween a couple of days earlier. But it isn't just Disney. Other stores (Costco, Lowes, Home Goods, etc) are promoting their Halloween merchandise as well..
Retailers keep pushing dates earlier and earlier. That does not mean you have to buy anything. I am not dealing with Christmas and Halloween stuff in August when it is in the 80s and I am still going to the pool and the beach. Plus the prices are usually inflated.

The 70th celebration started on May 16 so it has been 3 mos. It was announced early that parts of the celebration would pause for the holidays. What are you looking for that you are losing out on?

Me specifically? Nothing because I won't be visiting at all during the 70th.

What exactly will be left of the 70th celebration once the Christmas season begins? WOC? The keys? Maybe they should have just had the celebration for the summer. They could have kept elements past if they wanted.

Walt & It's A Small World aren't 70th specific so they don't really count.

Totally and I think that's all well and good. However going into holiday mode before labor day...? With weeks left of summer? Got me blindsided a bit - I was honestly shocked when OBB tickets dropped that there was an overlap with our trip this week. I usually keep holidays in their lane at home - Halloween gets October, and Christmas doesn't start until Thanksgiving dinner is cleaned up (US here, so 4th Thursday in Nov, I guess we start that one a little early!).

I did check and it was a September start up until '24, so I'm not that far behind on the times at least.
Labor Day is pretty commonly considered end of summer in the US. For many, it's actually earlier in August when school starts.

Astronomical summer ends around September 20th, but most people consider September a "fall" month. Meteorological summer ends on August 31st and fall begins on September 1st. This is because September to November most closely align with the weather people associate with fall.

Just saying that different people have different subjective perceptions of seasonal timing. No one is wrong. Astronomical seasons don't often align with weather and overall seasonal feel.

I do believe most people consider Labor Day to certainly be the end of the summer "season" for certain activities like swimming pools and Splash pads.

Totally. Which is why you'd think the holiday would start in September. Not August.

I think we have to wait and see how much they bring back before assuming that it won't be much. I expect all the special entertainment to be back in the Spring, and that's really the main stuff. Likely a new wave of merchandise, too, different from what we had this summer (that's how it was for D100)

Disney has confirmed Wondrous Journeys will make a brief return between Halloween and Holiday fireworks, and again - along with PTN - after the Holidays. There’s some chatter PTN and WJ will be paused until at least spring break, with Mickey’s Mix Magic filling in, but I’m going to be optimistic and say the 70th will resume after the Holidays and we’ll see new merch.

It wasn’t that long ago Disney suspended the fireworks entirely between Halloween and then Holidays, as well as after Christmas via spring break.

I suspect this is an unpopular opinion but I really love Mickey’s Mix Magic— and even I think “January to Spring Break” is way too long for a “pause” for the 70th nighttime spectaculars! After backing out Halloween and Christmas, that “pause” is about a third of the remaining anniversary year!

I think it’s pretty easy to swap WJ back in (or they wouldn’t be doing it between Halloween and Holiday) and the worst of all worlds for me personally would be no MMM but months of WJ without getting PTN back too.

MMM is okay but seems pretty cheesy at times. WJ is obviously a more elaborate production. MMM was designed so it could standalone without the fireworks… WJ was not, which makes me fear MMM will come back in January LOL.

MMM was supposed to be for Mickey’s 90th only but keeps coming back…

And this is exactly why they change things up.

I do understand that things will be back after the holidays, which is great. But to say it is a year long celebration and then not have major parts of it available (even if in the fine print it said things may be 'paused') and then not have things available for nearly half that time is pretty crappy. As I said above, they could have done it for the summer, kept what they wanted, pause whatever they wanted and even done the "back by popular demand" for Summer 2026.

Do you think that means Wondrous Journeys could take over as early as Nov. 1?

I agree with you. I think their problem is that Halloween has just become so massively popular that a lot of visitors prefer the annual Halloween offerings over the unique 70th stuff.

They should be more transparent about it earlier though.

Halloween time ends on October 31st and Holiday season begins November 14th. So I would expect WJ on Nov 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9. That’s good news as in the past they’ve paused the fireworks for those few days.

They have doing this since last year. So far attendance on those days is low. Plus if you want to park hop it is 65 to 70 bucks more. Not cheap at 169 to 174 a day. The fact that they wrote about it just shows attendance is low.
They need to for the near future be trying to get more MKs and locals

International guests are just going to come here less for the time, so hopefully they understand who the new base need to be for them the next few years

Agreed. one park at 104 is cheap. Park hopping is extra and that is not cheap. Some of the cheap days are on OBB nights...so peole may not think is is worth it.
